#moderate bosses

Is this against CoC? (I sincerely don't know)
I dislike that too, but I have mostly seen that some bosses kick out lower OS players to let higher OS players in. If that is the plan, then the bare minimum would be to openly declare this in room name or something (like: "3v3 with seats reserved for highest OS" or smth).
the boss dictates the rules of the room, really.
what else do you want ppl to do who want to play with their friends for example?
Also they already get modded when reported and deemed abusive by mods.
and if ur complaining that ur a nub and get kicked from high OS lobby becus ur number is low, then grind the OS lmao
you get notified with welcome message, and coordinator does state whether there is a boss in room thanks to Teifion.
rooms with boss can choose to setup any way the boss likes. some bosses aren't clear with rules, some bosses just wanted to make room with friends but left it on public (aka not sure how to do all the commands).
higher OS lobbies might use this functionality to base the game balance only from the top available players there is, effectively prioritizing players with higher skill rating.
I’m talking about 8v8 public games which have a boss
Idc about friendly games
a previous discussion that happened on this specific topic: #1134177555533017302 message
bosses are already expected not to abuse their powers, as per this ruling: #🛡️|moderation-bot message
so it seems to me like it's purely a question of consistency: if the boss acts in a consistent manner towards players (e.g. "higher TS gets prio" or "this is a friends game") then all is good
I wrote this after a boss made me spec for no reason because i was “annoying” in a public game
I would say report them and let the moderation decide
in general just dont trust boss lobbies, especially if its unclear, also i would suggest asking why they have boss
i did
I still hold that was not abuse. Other players were saying to kick and report him, I did what I thought a vote would have done.
Boss actions need written rules, not 'what you think is right at the time'
then why make this thread? 🤔
edit: to clarify, why make this thread right now and not wait first for the moderation to statuate
sorry if you got the impression that I was targeting you, it was not my intention, I am merely using this ruling as an example of the general intent of the moderation, the fact this specific instance was justified or not is not my concern
noted, thankyou. sorry if slightly prickly atm, just had a game utterly ruined by a toxic excuse of a player
in prior discussion about boss lobby issues, it's boiled down to a disconnect in what people think a boss lobby is. eg is it 'someone's game room they rule' or 'a public room with a regulated caretaker'. people have different expectations, devs included from what I gather
so maybe what we should do is request 'rules for lobby bosses'. this both sets up guidelines/expectations for both sides, and actual hard rules to moderate by
Because when i asked teifon he said we don’t moderate bosses for that
You got kicked for being annoying? Are you annoying?
I use boss to play something that isn’t strait/glitters.
there is also those tasteless groups of friends who dont understand the concept of a public lobby and just votekick everyone who enters their lobby eventho they didnt lock it and have a welcoming name
making everyone who enters feel bad for thinking they could play
I was silent for most part
I just asked him why he was late making t2
odd
Not odd he’s just an inflated boss
And i checked moderations he never got moderated
This happened again with me now I hope it gets a solution
the game doesn't have so many lobbies sometimes you play in a , say, min 20 strait lobby and you enjoy it, and getting kickbanned out of it you can't find another simlar lobby in a shortwhile
I think the role of bosses in public 8v8 lobby is to make things faster for everyone or set minrating and stuff. But some abuse it and they should be moderated(in my humble opinion).
No that isn’t the role of boss in any form
It’s to give one or more bosses the ability to control the lobby in full
If they don’t want you in the lobby that is their choice to do so
Bossses are moderated if they are violating the coc so yes they do get moderated
Just not actively on kicking players for not wanting that player
Bosses should not have to worry about who they are kick banning in any normal situation
Other wise situations of what is going on become very messy
Prescribing intentional is the worst case situation is very difficult to read and is very he said she said type deal
This is just as unpleasant question as it is important to the topic. Even in CoC there are words
Disregarding the teamwork can result in you being ostracized from team games
@peak belfry implies "there are bad persons that behave poorly as boss, kicking for invalid reasons".
Just the same may be implied the other way around: "there are bad persons that behave poorly and get kicked out every now and then"
To reason one being more true than the other, you gotta gather a lot of statistics, not just say "bosses are a problem"
Honestly if the boss is toxic in the lobby and majority can't rule him to step down just leave.
Others will probably follow suit if he is as malicious as reported.
Hope he has fun moderating a lobby of 1
Boss function is to allow you to set up your own game the way you want and not have other people take over your host.
I agree that sometimes people are bossed only for the purpose of a few functions, like changing the room name and setting a min rating and kicking out the people below that threshold, but then they may step beyond those bounds or if they have any active blocks, suddenly someone may get ejected from the room. You do need to have situations where boss has plenty of control and that's what's needed or desired, but the problem is there are simple things people desire like minrating and changing room name that can currently only be done by bossing someone.
I think if you made these things you could do with a vote, then people wouldn't need to boss someone in many cases and would be able to avoid the trouble potentially associated with a boss. Also, sometimes the person bossed may be overly aggressive in their 'culling' and kill the lobby, whereas a vote would likely tend to be more tempered with shifts in rating requirements and kicks. When there are so few lobbies to play in, having a bad and unnecessary boss can make it even harder for people to play.
Boss sets up a game with a specific set of settings. Doesn't matter what they are, but in my experience it's things like extra resources, build power, unit packs and map selection etc
Otherwise players will join and there will be a dozen votes. map, resources, ranked, map. It really cuts down on the Lobby Sim sometimes.
The boss is there to control the lobby they setup.
It might be because the Boss doesn't realise if he Ignores a player they can't even join his lobby.
Why do players get kick ban? I believe these are temporary.
Usually it's calling the Boss bad names or in some way disrupting the game. If 15 players have just asked, explained, told and given up trying to explain to a player where to start. Or a player has failed to actually connect to a game twice. The boss short cuts the democractic process.
So realistically the Boss can do whatever palyers can do without a vote. Seems fair. Any player is welcome to host their own game and be the Boss.
If personalities clash .. which is a polite way of saying that tempers get to people because they disagree with a decision or believe the team caused their loss .. so be it.
Please note that the !bkick command is short for battle kick (kicking from host) in contrast to actually kick banning someone which would mean you wouldn’t be allowed back in for a certain amount of time
Some people do get power trips while on boss but it should be self-moderated by people leaving the lobby or not bossing the person tbh
remember there's always the splitlobby command
