#Map texture not loading (after the update)
1 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
I’m getting it too, Intel a770
that is exactly what is happaning to me
well hope @noble ermine or someone else can help out. Cause I'm addicted lol
Is your also linked with the update? or did you have the issue before as well?
no just today
Yeah just today
I can debug with someone, but preferably this person should be a PC "power user".
The logs above show issues with terrain and water shaders
ye sound about right
Yeah same problem. There are at least two other posts about this. Please help!
@coral jackal what would you like to debug
@coral jackal what can I try?
I'll get back to you later.
Yeah, looking for it, log overrode my ctrl c
Indeed, arc 750, also, water shaders were broken before already
Worked fine, just water looked ugly and you couldnt see anything under it
I am having the same issue, Intel(R) Iris(R) Xe:
https://log.beyondallreason.dev/logs-20230516T1711-CRyGv-Dy.zip
it seems to be a rather wide spread issue
Not sure what was updated, but isn t there the possibility to roll back the update until a fix is found?
I'll just say that it looks like the recent rounds of testing for the new engine release somehow managed to not have anybody with affected Intel GPUs give any input! If you wanna help prevent that in the future, go to Channels & Roles and volunteer for the tester role (see PC Setup ones)
Tried looking at replay. Shows another shader not loading.
just to make it clear it is definitely integrated graphics cards
Defiantly?
Intel is defying expectations. There seem to have been some reports on non integrated Intel GPUs too. It's all Intel though
Most of the players complaining are not on integrated graphics tho.
IDK then
nwm, about half and half. Intel Iris XE is not the 350 I thought
Does anyone have a screenshot of how terrain looked on previous engines (you should be on Intel GPU/iGPU)
is that what you need
my water was always a bit buggy but i think that is just my laptop
running porly
Yeah that water doesn't look right at all
it has always been like that but everything els was fin until today all m mates water was fine to probs just me having a crapy laptop
My water wasn't.
Idk why.
no it is just a me thing not a problem
Do you have something zoomed in closer?
I don't take that many screenshots.
But this is a bit more zoomed in.
Got this one as well.
Ok, no shadows as I expected
I have my settings on lowest so...
Not the best PC lol
The question is if you could enable (and see) terrain shadows at all
Water shaders were broken for me too. On all Intel graphics I would wager.
Good, as in inline with my expectations
Ok, will try to help
So was it an engine update?
literally this happening to me too
Give this exe a try:
- but back up the current engine binary (spring.exe)
- replace the current engine's binary with the attached one
- you won't be able to play online on this binary, so test in single player mode
- restore the binary from the backup
It was and still is a bugged Intel GPU driver
i know it is early and sorry if i am being annoying but is there any ruff estimate on when multiplayer mite be accessable
The quicker Ivan gets information whatever it works in singeplayer the quicker it will be deployed to multiplayer.
ok
Ok looks about same as on my end
so now if i replace it again it should work in mp?
nvm my mistake is not working again
Urm which spring.exe are we supposed to replace? I tried replacing the one in the top folder and it didn't seem to do anything.
Bigger number is newer version, latest is on the bottom
Ok it seems to have fixed it.
I’m running the latest experimental (beta) Intel driver which I doubt most are and I’m having the issue as well
Just an FYI
Intel just release new drivers, has anyone tried with them?
I have the same issue after an update. Ill hook in in the confersation and will read everything later.
Yeah I tried as well, no luck
I just wanted to confirm, that it's not just iGPU's with the issue. Even Intel dGPU's are having the same problem. I only say this as when I opened the game it said I was using an iGPU and that'll cause the game not to work, which I'm not. I'm sure they know, I just wanted to confirm
Thanks. I always have the notification that I have an Intel Graphics card and that its not supported. When I have a lot of units sometimes they disapear but some shadows are still there. With some zooming I get them back. Nothing to worry about.
But now the whole map is just like water, I cant see terrain or where I can put my metal extractors😂.
Ill ask a friend if he has the same issues, he has a pro gamer laptop
Check again with the just released engine version
it works
its fixed now?
yes
nice
Then I'm glad to hear that and I'll just reiterate the point above, if you'd like to prevent this kind of thing happening in the future 🙂
That’s awesome work. Most AAA games don’t even fix ANYTHING that fast
Most AAA game companies don't have ivand 😄
I made another fix this morning, now water 4 and terrain shadows will work for Intel GPU guys. stay tuned
You will see it once the engine version in use is updated once again
fixed btw. Thank you ❤️
It works!!
Water is still gone, but terrain is back
It's gonna be fixed once the engine is updated
One question, how we can test before proper release? Some people submitted as testers is it the DEV version?
Or engine test?
In launcher there is "test engine" option where we push versions to test by testers.
For adhoc builds, downloading build directly from GitHub, and we have also one more source that has profiling enabled, we use https://github.com/beyond-all-reason/bar_debug_launcher
And ofc the most advanced compiling engine yourself and test out some things this way. So it's a gradient from most convenient to less convenient
Gotcha
@coral jackal With the new update, my PC crashes
Event Log showed an entry that MEMORY.DMP was created due to a crash and I opened it with WinDbg and it shows this:

Your intel graphics drivers are out of date
but Windows Update does not show me any updates available
Update them with the official intel tool https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/download-center/home.html
@noble ermine thanks. I updated to latest version 31.0.101.4369
But it's still strange that I didn't have the crashes before
Do you think the driver has to do with the crashes? never had crashes before ever, in BAR nor in any other app
I'm using my PC 10 hrs/day
I got PC crash and restart only when playing BAR in the last couple of days
It crashed again with the latest driver!
nt!KeBugCheckEx:
fffff807`0e9fbca0 48894c2408 mov qword ptr [rsp+8],rcx ss:0018:fffffe83`98437940=0000000000000116
I will wait for an update before playing again 😦
Please let me know when to try it and I will report back
Thanks!!!
Driver crash reports should go to Intel not to us. Though things might improve once we update the engine.
I thought you should know because it's definitely due to the latest update
I mean the update from the couple of days before
Let's wait for the update and see
No matter what the driver should not crash like that though.
But if there's a bug (memory overflow, etc), couldn't that appear like it's in the driver?
I mean a bug in the BAR's code
Yeah, was about to say the game is unplayble right now, I can count on my fingers the maps that do not crash the game
Send infologs
infolog says engine is too old, update your game
yeah it is from yesterday XD
today it updated
still crashing
XD
I also posted on the Intel Support
to see if they do something about it aswell
But if there's a bug in the BAR's engine (for example, a buffer overrun which means writing data beyond the allocated memory), couldn't that appear like it's in the Intel driver? I mean the fact that the memory dump shows a call stack with the Intel driver doesn't mean it's a bug in the Intel's driver.
Also, I never had this system crashes before AT ALL, I'm using my PC 10 hrs/day.
It's__ only happening in BAR after some of the updates like a week ago (after which maps don't display properly, as described in this thread). I've been playing BAR DAILY since November 2022 and never had a system crash or any other problem__.
What exactly OpenGL 4.x applications you were using without system crash?
Like I said, I've been playing BAR daily since November 2022 and never had a PC crash. Didn't BAR use OpenGL 4.x before the recent update(s)?
I know some features were not working with old engine, now they're fixed. Some good benchmark for lazy Intel devs to fix their drivers. Also i can't find your infolog (just to check where's crash or which video card/driver is used)
So you mean, the recent BAR update(s) use some OpenGL 4.x features which were not used before in BAR?
i don't know, i didn't see your infolog (maybe it's in another bug report, but i can't find one)
How do I get my "infolog"?
-uplog
and paste link here. Or just drop single infolog.txt from somewhere in game files
Does the "Upload log" uploads the exact same log I see when clicking "Toggle log"?
not exactly, i think it's a zip of 7 last infologs
I see there's alot of paths in there which include the Windows username. That kind of info should not be included.

C:\Users\[myuser]\..
also, there's no Open Gl related information there
It barely say what Windows I have
search for GL version : or you may look at launcher log that didn't yet run the game
So my goal for this conversation is to confirm that crash is something like other people with Intel graphics has. Worst option is that infolog will not have stacktrace, will be just abrupted because crash in driver and OS killed the process.
After the last system crash when playing BAR, after restart, I opened the MEMORY.DMP in WinDbg. It showed me a stacktrace with the Intel driver:
#1108033530891599903 message
Not sure if you've seen that
And what excatly context version SDL created? (that info is in infolog). At this point i can't hold myself from joking about "install linux", or
I guess Intel could send me some A770's so we could workaround their issues (let their government pack it up as a military help to Ukraine)
I wonder if me buying an actual graphics card would solve the issue and allow me to play BAR again
or is there a good chance you think I should wait and have the bug fixed?
It's quite important for us to have full install path. It's not the only way we can handle it but for example that's where most people have non-ascii characters that are not supported by the engine.
If you don't want to share it this way, you can anonymize it yourself
Also, when the whole system crashes, that's not BAR's fault
That points that issue is likely driver, because if drivers and operating system do its job correctly, a misbehaving user application shouldn't be able to crash the whole system.
I have 1 more theory:
If @rugged stump are saying it's integrated intel graphics then it could be out of VRAM (video memory). For me with low settings BAR uses on start 2.6 GB, i'm sure it may get to 3.5 GB during game or with another map.
Try lowest quality graphics setting. There're also hidden stuff that may be disabled by chat commands like /advmapshading 0 but i don't know them all or if it requires restart (or it just disables visualiaztion while memory consumption stays the same). Seems VRAM usage increased after update compared to old spring-1544
but that's just guessing, as infolog may say (or maybe memory report is not working on intel, so it wouldn't) how much VRAM there're
That is a good point. Looking at the infolog above, I see that the machine has 8GB of RAM and an iGPU - that is a crash waiting to happen. 8GB of RAM on Windows 10 isn't really enough to run BAR properly even with a dedicated GPU let alone an iGPU.
One could try shutting down every non-essential service and background process, and have BAR as the only application running. Though that would be incredibly inconvenient. Really should put more RAM into those machines if the option is available.
if it helps, my machine has 32GB of RAM
not sure how much is allocated to the VRAM
And regarding settings, I always played with the low setting but I will try again with the lowEST
So 16GB should more than enough
What's dedicated video memory? can you increase it (usually from BIOS)?
I just wanted to say the water on my A770 (intel arc) seems perfect again
way more than enough, I'm running a 770 and its running great
Is this issue resolved with the new engine version?
@limber ivy How much "Dedicated Video Memory" do you have? see my screenshot above?
Yeah I’ve got the 16gb version. This game wouldn’t use more than 4 or 5gb though. I highly doubt the amount of vram has anything to do with all the texture issues
So you have 16GB for "Dedicated Video Memory" ?? (Note, Im not asking for the Total Available Graphics Memory)
Also, you're not getting any system crashes anymore? Did you get them before?
The only thing that matters is the vram (16gb)
I never had any crashes before, I just had that texture issue when they updated the engine a week ago, which are now all resolved (I have crashed once)
Sorry I just realised you’ve got an iGPU
Which is completely different
I have 16gb of dedicated
They seem to know that there is currently issues with Intel iGPU’s
So is it not resolved with the latest engine? I have very very old Intel iGPU and I have no known issues
@coral jackal Which issue? Map loading or system crash? I think I should start a new thread as this one refers to map not loading correctly.
I will try test again and I will create a new thread if it happens. However, I am very reluctant to try again as I don't want to have my system crash again. I can get my system in a non usable state.
Map rendering
Map loading was fixed for me too.
But after that, I started getting system crashes.
ok, yes please start a new thread
Do we have anyone else besides you reproducing it?
Today tonight I will check if my rendering is back
Good question
Wasn t able to check this weekend as I wasn t home
But I suspect like Jackie my game will keep crashing safe from a small selection of maps that are probably lighter on the video needs
I have to check if I got answers from the Intel forum on the support ticket I opened for the driver
