What can i do if i find myself in a situation for like this:
an 8v8 where 3 players are pushing my lane at the same time and my allies are busy on their own lines?

You want to build units that will delay the enemy, so something like arty, mine layers, and counter radar. Also have great situational awareness by building radars, perimeter cameras, and periodic scouting so you can respond appropriately. If 3 players are focusing on you, then it's an opportunity for your team to take down the weaker players and eventually relieve you.

Prioritize army and static defense. If the opponent has alot of arty, lean towards units rather than turrets. I dont recommend building your own arty. Arty doesn't hold positions very well, they're an assault unit. If you build them, it may trigger your three opponents to attack early, which you don't want when you're 1v3 and outnumbered.

Try to get units with staying power and can trade effectively if and when your opponents do push in. Assault tanks are good as they can kite backwards and still inflict damage.

Refrain from building too much eco on the front line, retreat your com and start rebuilding eco further back. You need to expect the enemy to push in and for you to lose the front. Your goal is to stall and trade effectively. In a perfect world, you will do your job, you will lose the front, you'll be pushed all the way back to you main base, but you won't die. You'll have attritted the enemy in cost effective trades, and your allies will swoop in at the last moment to save you, then use their momentum to counter attack and win

if you have more ideas and even defensive plays of this situation im all ears

austere bluff
#

Use of commander is always huge

dusty scarab
#

Oh a com sac is also a good idea. In that case, I'd build a Juno at home, then cloak the commander between the front line and my main. When they push, Juno the radar at the front, and hope they don't see the com as they push in.

feral crane
#

Okay so lemme write it down

#

-Mines
-Walls
-Juno
-Commander bomb
-Scouts
-Cameras
-Units that i can effectively trade
-No arty because is not a 1v1 situation
-Rez bots (added)
-Growing eco but not teching during the 3v1

#

-Nano turrets to make defensive line last longer? I mean repair is free

thorny bolt
#

resurrector bots are good because they can resurrect your units and enemy units. I have won and lost 1v1s with friends because of them. Nano turrets are useful too, they probably repair faster than resurrector bots but that resurrection ability is quite good

dusty scarab
#

Id put nanos at base for better eco. Remember, you can't reasonably hold the front 1v3, you have to expect to lose it. I think Nanos at base to help with eco and unit production is better than healing an llt vs 3 armies, then losing it in the attack

feral crane
#

Eco you mean getting an AFUS?

#

It seems outrageous to me that spending 4k metal for a fus will give you 10 metal in energy conversion
but spending 8k for an afus will give you 50 metal in energy conversion

thorny bolt
#

No, I think Fishy meant keeping your economy buildings as far away from the front line as possible. Going for AFUs while you're getting 3v1'd sounds like a bad idea and makes you a bigger target.

dusty scarab
#

No, eco as in advance solar, maybe t2 if your allies come through and you can transition after being relieved.

Yeah viewtiful. Gets what I mean

feral crane
#

Ah i see

#

how about reclaiming t1 factory to fund a t2 factory?

dire arch
#

bah, i put responses in the other thread 😛

feral crane
#

what other?

dire arch
#

The downside of using your commander as a combomb is that if you are genuinely overwhelmed and outnumbered, you have to really make it count, because you're not liable to be able to reclaim that body and they are.

feral crane
#

yeah i just saw

dire arch
#

I fucked up doing exactly that yesterday 😛

feral crane
#

nah dont worry thanks im reading it

dusty scarab
#

Not until you're allies relieve you. There's no way you can go for t2 con and still stall 1v3. You can ask for t2 con to be sent to you, that would help a lot

feral crane
#

yeah even when teammates are innactive or incapable of supporting they still give t2

dire arch
#

and yeah, i need to remember mines more often 😛

feral crane
#

Btw when building afus is it good idea to reclaim t2 factory to fund afus?

dire arch
#

Its all about context, factories are for pumping out units...

#

if you're not pumping out units, then you have a very expensive paper-weight.

#

if you are pumping out units, presumably that's because you have a use for them, and it might not be the best time to try to invest in major power upgrades in a short amount of time.

feral crane
#

Okay so it would look like this then?
-Mines
-Walls
-Juno
-Commander bomb
-Scouts
-Cameras
-Units that i can effectively trade
-No arty because is not a 1v1 situation
-Rez bots (added)
-Grow eco as long that doesn't affect defense budget
-Nano turrets
-not teching
-Keep pumping units

#

Reminds me of my what to do guide when i used to play against the scavengers in brutal solo.

dire arch
#

And realistic expectations 😛

feral crane
dire arch
#

I mentioned in the other thread, you can also distract by going around them and raiding. If you can pull their army back to their base or something, you've bought yourself the time it takes for them to travel back to their base, and then back to yours.

feral crane
dusty scarab
#

Reclaiming t2 means you don't expect to fight for the next few minutes. If you reclaim for fus or afus, I expect you're going to go for a few adv e conv as well, then you'll need to rebuild t2 and extraNanos. That means for the next few minutes, you'll be committed to defending with only what you have. If you pull it off, great, but it's a strategy with its own risks

dire arch
#

Doesn't matter if you actually achieve much in terms of damage, you're trying to buy time.

feral crane
#

how about emp metal extractors?

dusty scarab
#

Ok i guess. They can be nice to stall for time. But I dont know if it's cost effective and whether its better than just having more units

dire arch
#

hah, there are some players who have been known to build them in retreat paths as expensive auto-destruct emp bombs 😛

#

They are very effective in psychologically making your opponent back off if they're feeling like rushing in, i'm going to have to remember to try them a bit more myself.

feral crane
#

petition to add emp mines to minelayer vehicles?

thorny bolt
#

emp metal extractors? that's new to me. is that a faction specific unit?

feral crane
#

yeah its arm

dire arch
#

arm cloaked metal extractor

#

explodes with a localised emp effect when destroyed

feral crane
#

also both factions have a t2 spy kbot that also works as an EMP bomb, commonly used to stun enemy anti nuke when firing a nuke.

dire arch
#

(or alternatively, when self-destructed)

thorny bolt
#

nice, i never paid much attention to that when i was using them in game. also would be nice for arm to get t2 metal extractor options like core

feral crane
#

i think i have a lot more options to defend myself with t2 weaponry generally

#

yet its not really possible to reach t2 when 3v1d

inner cloud
#

Don’t build Juno at t1 stage if you are 1v3. You may try to dgun but you should also prevent your enemy from getting your 2k com metal. If you are 1v3 there is not much you can do but survive

ashen bronze
#

suprised to not see suggestion to communicate with your allies over other options. even a simple, "guys im soon dead" and "halp" etc., goes a long way for people to get out of the tunnel vision or distraction and puts some pressure while you give space to enemy

you get 1 combomb trap, provided your commander is still alive, keep 2-3 rezbots so you can reclaim your corpse behind the trap, then optimize all your income (including reclaiming buildings) to go into fighting units and use riot control combined with something cheap so enemy waste shots as general rule.

3v1 i really wouldn't scale any eco, every piece of metal goes into units, not even much defence, since defence isn't movable when you will inevitably lose space.

you want something fast to have a chance to chase down their rezbots, and just ask for t2 relief as soon as possible.

pine notch
#

what you do for defense really depends on what the enemy is coming at you with. its hard to say one overall counter to everything.

#

if its t1 stage pop ups are definitely my go to. beamers and llts too

#

if they are coming with mainly arty or rocket trucks then fast units are preferred, skip the defencesive buildings.

#

t2 is a bit harder as there are a lot more unit types that could be coming at you

#

if they have ranged units like sniper, sheldon, t2 arty etc then the t2 pop up artillery is a nice counter.

#

also fast units again. swarm them with fleas/grunts/pawns

#

if they are coming with more tanky units like sumo, mammoth, bulls, tigers then static defenses are good. like t2 pop up turrets mixed with ranged units like sheldon or snipers.

#

if they are coming with faster units like fiends, t1 defences like beamers and t1 pop ups work quite well as well as t2 pop up turrets with units like sumo, zues. jaguars are a great counter to fiends if you micro them well. keep jaguars at max range and fiends cant hit them and fiends will die quick.

#

don't forget t2 spy bots for emping. many times it has saved me. emp your enemy units and then they are easy to kill with whatever units you have available

#

t2 spy bots are op if you can use them well

#

there are numerous counters to many things, so its hard to describe them all here.

#

dont forgoet t1 emp drone planes too if enemy didnt bring aa with them.

#

and as a last ditch effort. walk your command in and blow up as much of their stuff as you can. but remember to have something ready to reclaim it before the enemy can get the metal

weak fjord
#

If you have no hope of winning 1v3, just fall back as much as necessary, don't leave any wrecks for the enemy to reclaim

#

fall back to your base and just focus on trying to stay alive, when enemy starts to threaten your allies they will come to help

#

worst thing is trying to attack to front that is already lost, you will most likely just donate them metal and make you lose harder

#

you can bait the enemy into over extending, then when your allies wake up you can reclaim the front with potentially t2 support and eat all their delicious metal

#

Manipulate them into spending the gains from frontline mexes into worthless t1 units

#

Spam ticks to make your army look big in the radar

feral crane
slender sinew
#

Or using ticks to run past them to there base, scare them to back up

feral crane
#

Ah yeah it was sort of suggested already, not with ticks but the strat itself of distracting them with a little inner raid

#

Aight so it would look like this.
-Mines
-Walls
-Juno (too expensive for a 3v1 situation)
-Commander bomb (but make sure that enemy dont get 2k metal from com)
-Scouts,ticks (also used to make army look bigger in radar)
-Cameras
-Units that i can effectively trade
-No arty because is not a 1v1 situation
-Rez bots (added)
-Grow eco (removed since its better to mobilize every bit of metal to make units that will hold the line)
-Nano turrets
-not teching (removed for same reason than grow eco got removed)
-Keep pumping units

inner cloud
#

You forgot the most important thing: popup turrets

sand kestrel
#

the way targeting works in BAR is different than most RTS

#

which is to say, turrets don't have top target priority

#

so when getting pushed in, get those llts up

#

5 llts in a base might be able to kill a whole push

#

then you rez it back
