#Implement middle mouse button scrolling similar to SC2

Non-reversed scrolling where the camera moves in the direction of your mouse. This is already possible in BAR but the mouse has an offset when you move it. so it doesnt stay in the same absolute position when finish scrolling. which lowers mouse accuracy. here's an example of how this looks like in SC2: https://youtu.be/B_EBFSYFxM4?t=275 . notice how when serral scrolls the camera the mouse stays in exact position so that he can instantly select the units he was targeting. this is something i greatly miss moving from sc2 to BAR and wish was in the game.

@true stone you can now try to enable Middle Mouse SmoothScroll widget after it got merged (originally made by someone else, but I get more consistent flicking behaviour).

By baseline it's turned off, so need to type /widgetselector scroll down and enable it, while I will try to get it into the menu?

Could you please test it, and report back how you feel? Works only in the Overview Camera mode, but should provide more consistent experience.

I'll look into resetting the mouse position on the screen as well, currently it doesn't do that that well.

Not sure, who else is interested so pinging couple of people @silent tulip, @alpine geyser
@cosmic orchid also can you check if you better like that behaviour? not sure tho fully what camera style you use. Basically all the people who don't like edge moving, and are low dpi gamers, and don't like the stickiness of default middle mouse grab.

Will do tomorrow 🙂

Yeah I'll give it a shot here in about an hour or so

#

Just curious. I assume I got @'d because I was having some previous trouble with the middle mouse button scrolling?

As of right now it doesn't work at all for me. Moves the mouse to the middle of my screen and doesn't scroll

#

I found this thread too, to be able to help people or with it

wooden tide
#

you should be on the overview camera too /viewta

alpine geyser
#

Ahh thats probably why it wasn't working lol. Let me get into that view

#

Sorry new to BAR commands typing in /viewta doesn't do anythign

#

tried using the view selector as well and coulnd't get anything to popup

wooden tide
#

so this should be enabled

alpine geyser
#

Yeah I enabled that. But How to I get in Overview Camera mode?

wooden tide
#

can go through here

#

should be as same as doing /viewta

alpine geyser
#

Acceleration feels a bit high but that might just be me

#

Probably jsut some setting I can turn down

wooden tide
#

can change move speed (one of the red arrows)

alpine geyser
#

Yeah that fixed that

#

Mouse movement feels a bit weird. Having the mouse disappear off the screen and it doesn't seem like the screen location is saved either. Cause while it has disappeared it will reappear (after I finish moving) in a different location. If I read it right it should stay in the same on screen location correct?

#

Also Just clicking the middle mouse button moves the cursor to the center of the screen (if these are known bugs then its not a big deal just wanted to make you aware just in case :))

wooden tide
#

no, I just hijacked the thread to provide potential solution, so need some testing for current behaviour to find issues people are struggling with

alpine geyser
#

Makes sense

wooden tide
#

technically it used to draw like a little knob, and it does teleport to the middle, I kinda agree that it would be nice especially if it doesnt draw anything

#

just keep the mouse whenever it was then teleport it back somehow

alpine geyser
#

Hopefully my quick 5 minute testing helped out

@wooden tide awesome! it works pretty well! the camera moves in the direction of the mouse however there are a few things that make it feel a bit clunky:

when i press the scroll wheel the mouse pointer goes to the middle of the screen

after moving the screen and releasing the scroll wheel the pointer doesnt appear at the absolute position of the screen where i first started scrolling

also would be nice: i wish there was a way to keep the mouse pointer on the screen when scrolling rather than disappearing (like in starcraft)
