#Visuals of shield generators

After having played some 10-15 hours in the game everything seems awesome except I feel the shields could have greater visual presence. Perhaps adding some settings that enable you to change the opacity of them (as they feel a little transparent - as if anything can get through) and maybe even changing the colour from a white/greyish one to a more bluer tone might do it some wonders. Perhaps even making it optional so that your shield's colour coincides with the colour of your units for that game.

Any other thoughts on this?

Shields become les transparent the more of them are stacked on top of each other, and it becomes hard to see what is built underneath

We’ve been through a handful of iterations and tried to find a happy medium with the current one

Shields are in dire need of stencilling, so overlapping shields don't block visuals.

I also think they need mechanical tweaks, so they're either on and bouncing shells, or off, but never on and letting shells through

I have to agree, even just allowing user customisation to change the opacity or colouring of it would be great. As an example you can't really see the shield here at all except where the arty is hitting it (and the fact you can see the keeper)

That maybe part of the issue with it, even with more power I could hardly notice it, especially on the sandy background

I would argue that at the point where the shields go up you are zoomed out a lot... and there i can see the shields.
And i'm glad that you cant see them so closed zoomed in, because then you might have problems finding things

You know why you cant see it? Because you are so far zoomed in that your camera is under the shield itself

We've tweaked the shield a lot(!).
Tried a shitload of different things without changing the mechanics.
As Watch the Fort said, we might need to do that first, and then look at the visuals.
But obscuring shield, or having (too) much color on them, was really hurting the game and also the visuals.
2 years ago we had green/blueish shields, which were much less transparent and they looked horrible.

Something like merged/stencilled shields I'm all for.
And increasing the visibility once projectiles are closer or hitting it, those are things I'd like to look into.
And also doing something visually when a shield is depleted » making it more obvious when they are 'down' - that is something important to take into consideration.
