#set a time limit for all matches to 3 hours (or another defined amount of time)

do chickens or scavs ever go past 3 hours or no
yes
you can make them go far longer
and its not just scavs
regular ai matches can easily go 3+ hours if you manage things right
what would be the end state for a match that reaches the limit?
draw in this case would be the best to state
3 hours should be enough for all PVP matches to be completed in
unless there is something that happened that makes the match continue
most games in 8v8 are won at the 20 to 28 min mark
just takes time to get a game to end
if draws are impossible then no win/loss is recorded
I agree 3 hours is perfectly fine for PVP if not overly generous
I'm just cautious about force-stopping a PVE match, though 3 hours still seems generous
the problem is that matches that go on past 2 hours start costing a ton of resources to host
maybe some crazy people out there want to slug it out with some friends against scavs, I bet the number of people who do is very small
and with AI it scales poorly
is it just a side effect of the engine?
how often do these kinds of matches happen, and how many people does it affect when the server gets bogged down
everyone online at the time?
the amount of these matches is rare
@dire sierra would have a much idea of the costs incurred by these matches
Both scav and raptors have endless mode and ive seen people go for 5-6 hours strait
I dont rlly like the idea of a limit tbh
Even tho i almost never go that long personally, id like the option.
BA used to have Armagedon after 2 hours
Meteor shower destroying all buildings on the map and damaging units
lol
No extra cost afaik, players should play as long as they like
yeah and if they want to stop a match... they can just type !stop in all chat
To add a suggestion for a possible alternative way to force a match to end...
Battle Royal, the map starts to shrink and forces players to the center of the map after a certain time period.
