Just been trying to collect all the rings I needed to read the last book but he took it and repeated by saying "You got another black book" When you said yes and left the zone he repeated it all over again.

If you still aint got it, I left the game open for awhile after giving him the book, saved the game then closed it. Then when I came back I clicked "NO" to the broken text box that just said "I" in it then talked to Daedalus again and it worked.
