i gave the black book to daedalus and when i came back it gave me the same line that it gave to me when i gave the other black book to him for the fire worm and after that i didn't get anything and when i talk to him again he just tells me to continue my reserch for other books.
So i guess i lost the bestial communion

Same happened to me. But I didn't save the game after he said that, so hopefully a bug fix will allow me to easily pick it up.

same thing for me, i made sure to not save the game after that happened. its the only spell im missing

Same here. The black book in the accursed tomb is gone for me so I must've picked it up (I honestly can't remember), but I only ended up getting fireworm.

It seems like for Daedalus to work correctly, you need to find 1 black book, give it to him, receive the spell, then find the 2nd book, give and receive.
All the stories of Daedalus breaking include having collected both books before gaining the first spell.

I did this too and still broken. Dae won't accept the spawned book. I saw a steam or reddit post saying to hand over 2 books at once. I will try that on my 2nd playthrough
