#Role is right beneath Admin, but still requires permission it already has?

So basically I can't really drag it much higher but it still thinks it doesn't have Manage Roles
But it has always had manage roles and I've made roles before

Interesting. I will take a look at the bot later today. I had a different report with the same issue so there might be something wrong on my end.
For now just give it admin for the start of the setup and then remove this permission afterwards. It should bypass this warning.
Thank you!
I know I said I would look. I have been busy this last few days so have not got the time to do so yet.
No worries lol. Same
.
Hey, so it's still doing this
I can't use the bot to change or add reaction roles at all because it just keeps giving me this incorrect error saying that itr doesn't have this permission it does in fact havce
It's possible it's returning false because it doesn't have permission to check.
Had to make it admin temporarily to fix it. Which I don't like

I'll be conducting my own check. The message is based on a number Discord gives when you run the bot commands. It includes the permissions the bot has. Maybe my calculation for the manage roles permission is off, which I will check right now.
After my tests it does seem like if your server permissions are correct should work. The permission number comes from Discord as you run the command and the calculations follow exactly as desribed by Discord's docs.
You are only getting this error for the mange roles and nothing else?
That's it
Setting it to admin works
Which is probably why it's okay
Let me set admin to off, and maybe check again?
Make sure this is the permission that is enabled. Admin just gives it access to everything, which is fine but you don't have to.
It has been enabled for months
Admin is just what I turn on to make it stop asking me to enable that permission.
But it is enabled
The bot just can't detect it somehow
My theory is the check is blocked by the lack of some other permission, which Admin solves
I'll try some tests and see what permission combination causes this
can you give me your server ID and set the permissions to the state where the bug happens. Also the channel ID where you run the command would be ideal.
Thank you
Sure the ID is
@pale creek you just advanced to level 3!
Thanks
Hi! I’m currently having the same problem. Bot has all the permissions and is enlisted as moderator but still giving me an error unfortunately
It was just getting the error with regular setup and emojis. I now chose buttons and that worked.
I am removing the manage role requirement for now until I can figure out what's causing it. The whole new reaction role command will be rebuild soon to look fresh and hopefully less confusing
Thanks a lot
i'm having this issue as well, bot has been given administrator privileges under the server's bot role AND the Reaction Roles role, somehow got it to work with two of the reaction roles but the one i just made is buggin, saying it doesn't have perms to manage roles when it literally works on the other ones.
Can you try this? Moving the bots role up your role list

that seems to have worked thank you, im sure you get that one a lot sorry if it was a bother
The Discord permission system can be a little bit confusing sometimes. Bot, like users, can only give roles bellow their highest roles.
