#How to write text over fingerprints?
1 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
I would create the text and convert it into a selection, then use that selection to mask the fingerprint. Of course to do that you need to have the fingerprint on a separate layer.
How is your document built, layer wise?
If your image is "as is" and need to "remove" the red ink from the finger using a specific shape (the text) to leave the finger clean, then that would be more difficult.
So it would help if you could clarify, show what you have for now. Also depends what is your level in Photoshop, as it will decide what kind of explanations and tutorials to share
Yeah, it's a proper faff if you don't have a 'clean' finger to start with - This is what I knocked up in about 4 mins.
Obviously you'd want to spend more time than me getting the shade right!
I am really sorry for ping but could you explain what you did with the gradient or link a tutorial/youtube video which explains it. I am kinda curious
No problem.
here is so far the result
i mean if i'm able to seperate the texture of the finger prints + the texture of the finger without the ink
it would be great
it just doesn't look natural
oh sorry, you were going for the **oppsite **way around!
i'm not gonna lie, i'm fairly new, i'm familiar with the most basic tools, but to answer your question, the image is as it is, it's from a movie scene and i'm trying to do some edit.
btw @pale sand you want blood to be on the finger everywhere except where the text is right?
it's not blood, it's red ink but to answer the question yes.
i want it like it's a stamp effect
ah got you
like if he puts his finger on a piece of paper, it would appear like a patch of red with like the white showing the word.
yes okay I understand.
so create a layer in which the finger looks clean. like how james showed
then mask that layer and just use the brush to write over the text outline that you have
wont it work that way
sorry, still here, just in a call
i'll try
wht do you want to change in this btw?
the readability?
make it look more realistic, if a person were to put a stamp on their finger, it wouldn't look like this.
so if i get the textures right, i can make it happen, btw the text is flat on it, how can i add perspective to it?
i tried using vanishing points but it doesn't look that good
yes I tried it myself and understand the problem a little
I think the problem is that the ink is wet
and the human finger is designed so that the ink will seep in the depressions of the fingerprint anyhow
adding to the fact that the finger was only lightly pressed and there are many non red spots still visible
therefore the text will not appear very clearly imo
or if it does it will look out of place a little.
but the perfect removal of the blood might solve the issue a little i guess
