Whew finally got Discord to open on relatively new macbook .What fun stamps everyone is creating makes you want to start a collection. Because of tech issues Im only as far as welcome day image.
Thanks for posting, Holly! Sorry you were having tech issues. I think this shade of yellow works really well on that deep blue - its a great color combo! The font choice is nice as well - it feels classic and fits with the vintage theme. Keep up the great work!

Kim! This is awesome! You've got to let us know what he thinks of it 🙂 My only feedback is that the bottom of the smaller portrait feels a little sharp (it's always tough to make floating heads feel like the person isn't cut in half 😆 . Maybe using a textured brush to brush away the harsh edge at the bottom of the portrait with a layer mask? Thanks for posting!
When I try to use the brush to remove the background on the elephant and tree in Challenge 3, I get the following message: "The smart object must be rasterized before prodeeding. Edit Contents will no longer be avialalble. Rasterize the smart object?" I'm using the Adobe images that we were provided. In the video this doesn't appear, and the elephant and tree don't seem to be smart objects. What did I do wrong?
Loving this color palette! I'm a sucker for a dusty purple. Nice job wrapping the tail around the type. The sharp graphic shadow you have on the text feels great, but it's a little incongruous when placed next to the softer shadow of the actual pangolin critter. I wonder if adding a sharper shadow under the pangolin would help it feel more cohesive? You could use the lasso tool to make a geometric selection and fill it with black to become a new, sharp edged shadow. Thanks for posting!

Hey there! Have you made a layer mask yet? Once you do that, you should be able to remove the background without that issue. Hope that helps
Awesome! I'm digging the simplified outline of the elephant and tree on the flat field of blue. It's a nice composition! I feel like the tree trunk could be blended a little more seamlessly with the texture of the elephant. Maybe if you revealed the tree trunk down to the area of the elephant that gets a little darker? Then I think the trunk would disappear into the darkness a little more naturally. Thank you for posting!
Thank you for the encourgement this is first time using photoshop on macbook my 2012 iMac died during the beginning of pandemic and My Apple Store here in Portland was closed down thanks to badly behaved people. Makes endanged animals look much ore civilized

Thanks so much for the feedback @sterile bane ! Believe it or not I did get in there with a mask and back and forth with black and white changing opacity and have an opacity gradient over his little head but it still looks weird. I tried to hide it with the stamp! I'm still trying to age it a little more so will keep trying on that part too. Thanks again-love your classes! You taught my first DCC a year or so ago and got me hooked🙂

Oh, gotcha! and thanks so much! I'm glad you've stuck around so long 😄

Day 3 - Double Exposure
WOW. This is great! So old time Western
Well I'm glad you posted it even if you didn't want to! This is great! I think it strikes the perfect balance of simple composition with big visual payoff (i.e. the bright colors on a simple background). You've done a nice job of placing elements around the design so the eye moves around it naturally. Keep it up! Glad to have you here 😄
Yeah I did when I did the original removing the background of the elephant using the lasso.
Heck yeah! shuffletobflo said it. Everything in this design serves to fortify the theme of the work - great job! I like how light of a touch the postage textures have - they could easily become over bearing but they're a light touch and add some nice movement for the piece. Love it.
Thank you very much. It took me a while, and to be honest I am not even sure how I go there but I kept watching the chat and what others were posting so I kept trying all sorts of things to get what I thought was a cohesive image.
Gave +1 Creative Carma to @sterile bane
Nice! I'm not seeing a lot of insects or plant life included as endangered critters so I love the creativity here! Nice font choice as well 🙂
It worked! Love to hear that you used the chat as inspiration.
I like that you made this your own and didn't feel too constrained by the daily prompt. Love to see that you made your own template as well 🙂
Nice job! Thanks for posting
Gave +1 Creative Carma to @jagged falcon
Woohoo, thanks for posting! I like how you faded the background to let the pangolin shine as the main graphic element. The first thing I notice is the symmetry of the design - I'm a little distracted by the fact that there are two pangolins and two "postage" graphics because I'm not sure what to look at first. Maybe you could try a design that features one pangolin prominently and use extra design elements to fill out the rest of the composition? Thank you for posting! Can't wait to see what you make next.
Thanks @coral stone. I am really enjoying the theme of this challenge by @sterile bane

Day 1 challenge! Little behind hehe
Thanks @sterile bane for the advice. I went back and tried to do what you recommend. I think it came out better this time.

Here is my day 2 attempt. I am sticking with the sample material so that I don’t get completely lost in the weeds. By trial and error I seem to be picking up some invaluable PS tools. I love seeing all of the different interpretations and levels of skill. I’m highly inspired by the group!😁
This is really nice.👌🏼
Both of these are really nice. I prefer the one on the left as it has a more traditional stamp feel to it.😍
This is my favorite day 2 by far! Nicely done💚
Double Exposure Day 3! Let me know what ya think 😉
Ps DCC 21-02 03 Double Exposure The Blue Whale is the largest creature on earth. At one time there were estimated to be 300,000 in oceans all around the world. Today there are an estimated 25,000.
Day 3, great double exposure idea! Loved it!
My Day 3!
Hello all. I am new to photoshop and challenges. I cannot figure out what to do after the challenge work is copied to my work. I get an email with the challenge, click on the link and it open challenge webpage, on that an option to copy work, then VIEW opens creative cloud and shows me the folder into which challenge stuff got copied. What to do next???
Struggled with the elephant , gave up , here is day 3 fly . I love a saturated palette , but too dark?
I am still using workarounds to do these. Kathleen makes it look so easy... LIAR 🤨
@zealous minnow Love your background on this , looks drawn and the parakeet sits so nicely on it.
I@bleak berry really like everything about this. nice job!
Love the buffalo you really achieved the project and it looks great
Yes, the Buffalo stamp is awesome!
I'm still learning how to mask correctly. Your feedback on this image would be greatly appreciated. This challenge is helping me to feel more confident that I can do compostions.
Day 3. Not going to lie, I struggled with this one more than the first two, but I did learn a lot.
Day 1, 2, & 3. Coming in late and playing catch up. Love the stamp template @sterile bane! I'm one of those in line at the Post Office wanting to see ALL the stamps to choose the prettiest. Even though I totally know the vast majority never look at my envelope and say "WOW! She is killing it with her stamp game." 😁 I love scrolling the Discord and seeing all the creative takes on the same lesson!
PSDCC Day 3 with Kathleen Martin - Double Exposure
@worn jackal I like the images within the big O, very nice! The orange and green create a nice color contrast too. It could be interesting to see a version where the O is a bit smaller, and the orangutan's are a bit bigger to see how that affects the focus. Or if it's the same size, even putting a third orangutan hanging into the O from the top left side. Could create a nice visual balance. Just some random thoughts, hah. Nicely done!
@paper laurel Loving the colors! The gradient looks great, and contrasts really nicely against the green background. The sort of pastel colors give the whole thing a soft, friendly look. Kind of makes the fur look like cotton candy too, hah. The slight tilt and halftone texture are a great touch!
@steep marlin Very cool, welcome on in! Glad to have you joining us. I really like the stylization in this. The illustrated look of the cats with the gradient shapes of the background work nicely together. All the shapes have a nice clean read and contrast too. Nice work!
@sweet fern Hah, I love these photos, this is a great choice. Glad to hear these little guys are doing a bit better. Nice job with the text path! For a more natural edge on furry/complex edges it might be worth doing "Select and mask" and using the "Refine Hair" button to see if it can get a more natural edge. And of course the Quick Selection Tool and Refine Edge Brush tool can always be used for a bit of manual clean up after. Great job!
Hello All– Day 3 – Double Exposure! I wasn't really sure, what else to add on the background, so did a repeat type to give it a little more love ❤️
Here's today's challenge try. Will need to practice this one a little bit more.
Day 3 : Hi.. Since I am going with an Indian Earth Colour Palette, hence chose to use an Indian Textile Print for the double exposure... let me know what you think about this. Edited it a bit
Beautiful pattern!
Thank you 🙂

Day 3 - I think I could've masked the trees better, or used an image more closer to the value of the elephant, but would love some feedback nevertheless! 🙂
hiya ! koala habitat protection, plus that so many of them died in the horrific bushfires last year, has been a real political stoush match down under in NSW
Challenge 2. Trashed the first design I made on my stream and changed it up.
Day1 challenge version 2. I have cleared up the Elephant and changed the design a little bit. I love to have some feedback , please.
Day 1 ... starting late but gonna work on it more and soon
First version of my Day2 challenge. I wounder if the image a little bit empty, to much background! Love to have some feedback.

Challenge #3
Seriously @ruby panther? The Bonobo? Do you know the main characteristic of Bonobos?... I'm sure Yes🤪 . Anyway, great one! Love how you matched tones of Tree and Bonobo and the circle in the background adds a nice touch. Great job!
@hollow yarrow I have NO IDEA what you are talking about???🤣 Thanks for you feedback!

@topaz trail : Love the choise of using indian textile for double exposure! Your design turned out great! Nicely done.
Thanks @west plume @sterile bane and @idle gull for your comments. I really appreciate!

@summer sinew : your elephant double exposure is really awesome! Love the "mix" of trees on the elephant and birds in the sky give an interesting effect. Gradient adds a nice warm african touch. Really nice. Bravo!
Thank you Franck ... much appreciated. This is my first time on a DCC and it’s really inspiring to see everyone’s artwork

Day 3 challenge. I'd highly appreciate feedback for this one!
I😃 Interesting Charles, using the white on white with the Egret. I like it real clean looking. Don't feel bad, I'm way behind. I haven't even finished the folder we were supposed to store the challenges in, or is it the cover image?? Anyway, I've barely started. Nice work, Charles!
🐵 Very nice concept design. Liking it ! Very Cool !
Day3 challenge first attempt. It was very enjoyable. Thank you for the challenge. I would really appreciate any feedback on it.
Here is my Day 3 Challenge! Does that text work?
@ruby panther - love your Bonobo-Stamp!
As a newbie, a little frustrated with a couple of things. Here's my first draft. Two issues: 1) the 0% color saturation of the elephant does not stick. I drag it to zero and click ok, but the change does not take. And 2), I really want the elephant image to be larger, and decided I want the birds to spill out on both sides of the elephant's head. BUT, I haven't figured out how to select and resize the elephant or the birds. Nothing seems to bring up the sizing drag bars. Really appreciate suggestions on how to navigate these issues. Thanks so much. Hoping to hear from @coral stone - thank you!
Gave +1 Creative Carma to @coral stone
Hey @zinc fjord! Sorry you're having this issues, here are some things that might help.
- When decreasing the saturation, make sure you're with the right layer selected under the layer's panel.
- Also to see if it's really affecting the layer, make sure that there are no color layers at the top, you can toggle the visibility of the gradient layers by clicking on the eye icon.
- To apply the transformations, you'll need to select the layer that you want to resize, press Ctrl+T (or go to Edit > Free Transform)
- If you're not seeing the handles, make sure that extras is enabled under the View menu at the top bar.
If you have any doubt or still have these issues, feel free to Direct Message me the .PSD file and I can show my share for you. 🙂
@whole nest Thanks!

The way the tree and landscape dovetail with the rhino's back is really nice. Love the composition
day2
I'm a little behind with the challenge, this is from yesterday. What do you guys think?
here Sam I tried to fix the text around cat head
I feel like I don't have a good color composition, the text and the stamp mark looks like they are not doing their job. I also think I kinda did a crabby job mixing the bee and the flowers...
day 2
Hi friends, happy Friday! Here is my day 2, still catching up!
Hello from Switzerland!
Day 3: 3rd draft - feeling much better about this now! Again, thanks to @coral stone for the great support!
Gave +1 Creative Carma to @coral stone
I love the pattern, makes it look really indian 😍
I changed a bit. I tried to use the brush like in the video after selecting an outline of in image to make them blend together, but when I used the brush it just colored black instead of erasing. Then I had to use the eraser... can someone tell me why my brush didn't do the job like in the vedeo?
Happy Friday everyone! So many awesome submissions!
@idle zealot The repeated type worked out great, and also the way you made the text more subtle in the background and kept the consistency with the text from the right made the whole design come together very nicely. I like the dramatic effect that the saturated dark blue gave to the elephant.
@copper pebble very nice work! I like your font choice, it pairs very well with the jungle context. Perhaps a contrast boost would make the images stand out more since they are the main message you want to communicate. You can easily do that by adding a levels adjustment layer clipped to the image and then decrease the distance between the first and third slider. Well done!
@topaz trail Very interesting textures, Ayesha! I like how the typeface matches very nicely the context of the stamp giving a cohesive look to the overall design. Keep it up!
@smoky mural I like the way that the images are blending and the colors you assigned to the stamp and the wolf. This is just an idea that you might try and see if you like, but you might hide the top area of the wolf to make the mountains the real edge, just like Kathleen did with the trees in the Livestream. Let me know if you need any help.
I think that the colors worked out in your design @lapis roost! The levels of contrast give a great hierarchy allowing the elephant to stand out. Keep it up!
@onyx field Nice colors in your stamp! I like the way that you played with the text using the type on a path to communicate the message. I like the fading effect for the Koala, it really creates that context that they are disappearing. Great job!
@ruby panther I loved the 3D style of the stroke, it makes the stamp stand out at the same time as the design looks balanced. The words inside the the shape was an amazing way to catch the attention, building a strong visual interest. Day 3 looks great as well, I loved the combination between the bonobo and the trees. Some branches look like it's his veins, especially on the hand area 😄 Great job with the masking! Keep it up!
@shrewd kettle great textures! I'm digging the colors that you used for the trees, they combine very nicely with the gray from the elephant. The only suggestion I have would be to give a little more space between the elements and the stamp edges, just to give some breathing room. Day 2 and 3 are looking great! The shadow for the turtle really helps to sell the effect. Well done!
@scenic light I like how they blend modes make the elements interact with the background. The bird has a nice amount of contrast against the background which allows it to stand out without making the stamp look busy. Keep it up!
@unborn lintel you got some very cool results with the textures and colors. I loved the gold and silver contrast. My only suggestion would be to fine-tune the position of the word Elephant or maybe work on the contrast a bit, right now it's a little hard to read, especially because it's a display font so the shapes are different from those we're used to. Great work!
@simple mason Loved that you played with some colors to add some irregular edges to the circle. The square look of the font also fits pretty well with the style of the stamp. Well done
@spare garnet I loved the monochromatic tones of your stamp, they help to create a great environment for the assets. Only a minor detail I have would be to position the vertical text from the right a little bit more to the right so it won't be placed on top of the dark areas of the trees, increasing the legibility. Awesome job!
@high dagger I loved how the assets are interacting with each other, the colors and the masking are looking very on point. Great job!
@urban garnet this turned out really amazing! I loved the way you blended the trees with the Rhino especially for the top area. The layer mask for the tree is looking very solid and I like how you managed the contrast of the texts preserving the hierarchy of the whole stamp. Awesome job!
@coral fog the high contrast of the Tiger and the Tree adds a cool dramatic effect to the overall design. The effect on the text adds a cool visual interest, and I like how you kept it readable. Well done!
@gleaming cobalt Very nice approach to the challenge, I like that the silhouettes merged the elephant and trees images, and the gradient also has that nature context. Well done with the textures too.
@fluid wharf great colors going on here! I like the circular text you created, the only suggestion I have would be to brighten those dark areas of the carcal, so the text might that is placed above it might be more readable. You can do that by creating a curves adjustment layer and with the first point from the left click and drag up, just be careful not to lose a lot of contrast. Nicely done! 🙂
This came out amazing, @median crystal I loved how colorful your stamp is, and also how the text is interacting with the background and the P's shadow. The contrast is looking great as well. Excellent work!
@idle yarrow I think the colors are working really well in yout stamp, the bee and the flowers has a nice amount of contrast against the background. If you want to make the stamp and the texts a bit stronger you can use the eyedropper tool to sample some colors from the bee and then testing out on them. It will help them to stand out at the same time as the color will be still consistent.Just saw your update, really cool improvements, about your question, make sure you are painting on the layer mask in order to hide (or reveal) the areas of the image with the brush. Let me know if it worked. Great job!
Oh wow @empty star I love the colorful gradient you applied to the background. The leopard is blending very well with the trees. Very nice job!
@coral stone Thank you so much for all the feedback! Have a good weekend!
Gave +1 Creative Carma to @coral stone
Very cool work bringing some illustrations, @elfin thorn. I like how you kept the Rhino's face details still noticeable allowing the viewers to easily identify all the elements. Awesome job with the texture and the type!
You too 🙂
Loving the overlaps you made @simple idol! It builds a strong visual interest for the stamp. Also, I like the gradient style you applied to the text. This is just a personal preference, but if you want to add an extra touch, you might add some subtle textures to the background, just like you did to the areas outside the stamp. Keep it up!
How cute your stamps are, @shadow ivy! It makes me curious to see the next ones, the Onomatopoeia was a great idea to enhance their identity. Excellent work!
@zinc fjord That's great to hear! I like the new size for the elephant. The colors also creates a nice context to the scene. Well done!
@coral stone Thank you I will work for better

Day 3 Memories of better days.
day3
Day 3 challenge, I am learning a lot.
Day 2 Challenge - I spent more time on this one as I created some tribal patterns for the text and the background by using layer style effects. I also introduced another "flashy mint green" colour into the palette to break it up a bit. What do you think?
I spent more than 4 hours 😄 and still can fix soooo many tings .
What do you think about the pink? I might try a gradient overlay as well.
Thanks a ton !! Very excited to start the next days challenge. You guys are the best

Day 4 edit
I've been obsessed with re-doing the double-exposure challenge until I got it right. I think I'm a lot closer now.
🌈 Day 4 - Design a Kaleidoscope 🌈
Day 4 challenge
Challenge #3 Double Exposure.
I’m not super happy with how this is looking but I’m going to keep going with the next challenge. My elephant image is by Katie Hollamby on Pexels.
Save nature and animals is great. But people shouldn't be forgotten either. Adobe makes it possible to express more about everything.
Here's what I did for the Day 4 challenge. I don't like how the text gets lost, both with the animal name and the "Forever USA." I wanted to add a different-colored stroke to it, but couldn't figure out how; every time I viewed "Properties" for either text item, I didn't see a stroke option. Anyway, thanks everyone!
Day 4: Kaleidascope Panda - welcoming feedback on color intensity and any other observations. Many thanks!
I really like this one a lot! Nice use of cooler colors. Almost reminds me of a photograph negative.

This one was really fun!
@mortal crescent this looks great, Key! I loved the consistency of the colors, and how you masked the top area of the rhino making the mountains to be the edge. The masking is looking very solid and I like the metallic look you applied to the stamp, making it look like a special finishing print. Nicely done!
Wow, @weary palm amazing job with the colors and the textures, together with the assets, they have a strong atmosphere, making me want to see more from this collection. Keep it up!
@young charm I loved the color palette that you used for the background, it suits very well the textures and allows the plane to stand out. Great job!
@bold valley loved the close-up angle that you used to create the double exposure. They help to build a powerful and emotional message. Excellent work!
Results not great but learned a lot. thank you.
This is my first Creative Challenge. I had a lot of fun exploring Adobe Capture for Photoshop and I created this stamp inspired by Jellyfish 🦑
Update: text on the right moved away from dark background
Thank you 😊 I guess I was kinda shooting for something different than how it turned out. Happens a lot to me. Lol
Gave +1 Creative Carma to @fallow quest
Bird and the Bugs. I tried using an Illustrator file for the pattern repeat in >Library>Add Capture. It worked well and made the bug pattern. I repeated the layer and changed the scale for another layer. Bugs and the bird were courtesy of the free part of Adobe Stock. Thank you, this was a fun challenge. Have a great day, Rick.
That's really cool! The jellyfish is such a beautiful creature, and it lends itself really well to abstract designs.
I really struggled with this lesson🤦🏻♀️. I need lots of practice tweaking the double exposure. It seems like selecting two images that will compliment each other is integral to the process.
From yesterday. I struck out with the actual animals, but the panther got me thinking of Black Panther and I'm still mourning the loss of this incredible man. I don't know if it's more of a collage or a double exposure. And I don't know if I like b/w or color better. What do you think?
Amazing! I like the color. So nice that he was nominated for awards posthumously this week💖

This endangered macaw is from Brazil so thought I'd use the Brazilian flag as a sky pattern and palette. Thanks for all of the good stuff this week @sterile bane 😀

Playing catch up here is Day 1 "not so green sea turtle"a little more neon. Thought it looked like it was breaking out of the deep sea blue.
So here's challenge 3. To be honest, as I followed @sterile bane's instructions, it wasn't working for me . I tried inverting when she said to and I was not able to get any results with painting with a black brush with the tree's layer onto of the bird's. So, I sort of improvised. Instead of creating layer masks of the images without the background after I edited them out, I created a new layer mask in a new layer, making a copy making a copy of each image without the background. I then selected the pixels of the bird, and then brought the tree in. I did NOT invert, and only then was I able to paint with black to blend the tree into the bird's feathers. At least that's what I think I did. Let me know what you think.
thank you 😄

Thank you! I'm still so sad there won't be more work from him, but glad his family can see his appreciation
Thank you so much.😊It’s a cool element, but I couldn’t figure out how to erase the pattern pixels from the elephant. I think I got lost in too many steps and adjustments.

Challenge 4. South China Tiger. The capture pattern is removed (maksed) behind the tiger. Then I added a hint of half-tone. This, too, needed to be masked as it shown through the entire cat. I certainly learned alot. Thank you!!
I love this! The colours work really nice together. Very effective
I'm a bit behind on my Challenges. Here's Day 1.
Challenge #3
Day 4, the caleidoscope is grass.
Challenge 4: This was really fun. I put an oil filter on my panda since I love paintings. My husband says this looks like something that would sell at the zoo.
Thanks for the feedback! 🙌

@neat sparrow 😂😂 loved this one, I would definitely use this image as a wallpaper. Great job masking the fur and blending both images!
Using the oil paint was a great idea, @simple mantle, it is a nice touch for the fur. The patterns worked out really well too, and the colors are very consistent. Well done 👍
Day 4: Kaleidoscape stamp for Blue whale. Capture made the images too small for my taste, so, used a template from http://www.lloydwphoto.com/downloads.htm.
Here's my entry for Day 3, probably my 3rd experience in Double exposure 🙂

Really nicely done. I love this design😍
@blissful egret Thank you very much. I'm having a great time doing these challenges...and learning new things everyday. Can hardly wait until Mondays animal...

Day 2 - Transforming Text. Nothing spectacular, just used fisheye on the VHS to make it look like it was in a CRT.
Day 3 - Double Exposure. This one is a bit subtle. Added a solar clock & a timelapse of moons to the watch.
gorgeous! i love the pattern and the panda! did you use a filter on the bear? i love the effect you achieved!
@burnt marten Thank you. Yes I'm using the cut out filter and/or the posterize adjustment on all the animal photos so they have kind of a silk screen effect...trying to keep all the stamps in the same style.

Here are my stamps for week one...would love to see other peoples stamps grouped together like this. Comments are welcomed.
Amazing!! These look so cool as a set 😍
I've been to Borneo too... We stayed at the Shangri-la ria rassa resort that had an orangutan sanctuary on site ❤️
Here's mine 😁 neat idea - would also love to see other peoples (weekend eye candy) haha
Lovely! The color palette works really well together

Thank you 🤗
Such a beautiful country. My Father was born there.
I've used capture on my phone before... so neat to be able to use it in photoshop. I used an image of some icebergs for my background. I could use this kaleidoscope feature all day as I had lots of favorite backgrounds to pick from.
@summer sinew Your stamps are spectacular...I particularly love the Orangutan stamp...I can hardly wait to see the rest of them. Thanks for sharing them.

Omg I love your effect! its such a cool pattern!
here's my ajolote mexicano! what do you think?
The pressure is on now to not disappoint you 😄 I'm off to bed now, pretty late in the UK. Have to say i'm absolutely loving this discord. Fairly new here and after being isolated all this time it's awesome to see so many creative people 😄
@fallow quest if you select the text layer, click on the fx icon at the bottom of your layer. Or double click the thumbnail. Either way, the effects menu will pop up. Stroke is there. You can add as many as you'd like.
I'm guessing for the end of this DCC Kathleen is going to have us make a stamp album of all our images. She did that last year with something called a zine. It was very cool.
This worked out great @buoyant nova! I loved the overlaps and the type on a path added a great visual interest for the stamp. Also, the colors and the contrast makes the whole design feel pleasant to look at. Very well done!
The negative space is excellent in your stamp @severe ice! It adds a great hierarchy for the elements at the same time as the eye has a great reading flow. The colors and textures are very on point too. Nicely done!
Lovely pattern @shrewd kettle! I think the spacing is fine, especially because you made it subtle. Great job!
@runic basin Playing with the filters made you achieve some nice results, especially how you built an environment for the panda and made them come together very well. The assets are very well balanced with the scale, and the text has a nice amount of contrast against the background.
Thanks @coral stone really enjoyed doing this. Thank you for your comments, much appreciated

I'm a few days behind, but hope to catch up over the weekend. Here's my Day 1 project:
Those look amazing...It's great to see how all these work together. Hard get the full effect when seeing just one at a time. Great work.

Day 4
@plain sable Looking good, I like the use of the flowers for the pattern and how they’re still identifiable but in a fairly subtle way. The neutral color also gives the center flowers a really nice contrast. Nice job!
@buoyant nova That’s really cool, sounds like a fun experience! Really nice masking on the orangutan, it’s looking really clean. The leaves framing the bottom and the orangutan overlapping the text is a nice touch. Looks good!
@heavy ruin Glad to hear it! This is looking really good. I like the background pattern, it creates a really interesting graphic effect while the white space gives it a light look to really let the panda pop. Nice job with the masking too!
@graceful zinc Very nice, the background gradient is looking good and contrasts the leopard nicely. The background texture adds some nice interest as well. Nice work with the masking around the leopard’s fur!
@stone wigeon Very nice, this design really captures the crow’s love for corn, hah. It’s always really cool to see the patterns that can be made with different images. The black crow contrasts really nicely on the light background too. 👍
@shrewd kettle Really cool patterns! I like the floral look to them, I could definitely see these on a dress or some kind of clothing. It also gives the red panda some really nice color contrast. Nicely done!
@runic basin I like the stylization of the Panda to fit the sort of graphic look of the bamboo as well as the background pattern. The low contrast of the background graphic works really well to let the panda pop, and the pattern works really nicely thematically too. The way the leaves break the frame on the right is a nice touch!
@slow estuary Very nice! The fisheye warp definitely adds to that classic CRT screen look. The color scheme has a nice retro sort of 90s look too. I like the texture contrast the background creates against the graphic elements. The watch design is looking really good too. Nice job!
@severe ice Really nice color scheme on this Day 2 design! The shapes create a nice bold look and there’s a nice visual balance to the whole design. The background texture creates a nice contrast with the graphic shapes too, nicely done!
@deep mango Really liking the texture in this design! The white background creates a nice clean read against the wolf image as well. Looks good!
I would like for the lion to be softer against the background. Can anyone give me a tip or two?
Here is my first week collection. It is.....not cohesive, lol. But I think it's helpful to see them altogether. I changed the lion stamp from a way less saturated version to this and I'm happier. Still working on my rhino
@blazing cobalt I like it! The colors have a nice soft feel and the texture in the background adds some nice interest. Was this challenge 4 using the kaleidoscope effect? Both the ajolote and background are quite light in value, I wonder if boosting the contrast of the ajolote to deepen the dark tones a bit might give the whole thing a bit more pop. Nice job!
@cloud cobalt Glad to hear it, welcome in! Very nice work on the pattern, I like the texture and graphic look of it. It could be interesting to try a version with a lighter background too, even something like lowering the opacity of the pattern background with a white layer underneath, just to see if it makes the silhouette of the tree and pandas pop some more. Just an idea of course. Looks good!
@burnt marten Very cool! Great work on all these designs. I suppose it depends on what you mean by "softer" against the background. The edges and masking of the lion look quite good and not too sharp or jagged or anything. The background has some strong areas of contrast that perhaps give the image a sharper look. Perhaps lowering the brightest areas of the background with a levels adjustment layer, but it really just depends what you're going for. The lion and background are also very similar in hues, it could be interesting to shift the hues to be slightly cooler one of them for a bit more contrast, again, depending what you're going for. Really nicely done!
Thanks @bleak fossil 🙂

Learning to make and use kaleidoscope patterns was my fav of the week. I went with a simple stalk of bamboo to keep it from getting too busy. I made a ton of patterns just for fun, though.😉
Day 4
Stamp tmpl with artboard that I have made this have PD licence enjoy the use
Thanks @bleak fossil The leaves are from the Durian fruit which the Orangutans eat. Apparently the fruit smells really bad. When I have visited hotels in that area, they are banned from being brought into the hotels because of the smell

Day 4, I learned a lot this week
Challenge 3....as time permitted.
Here's the day 2 challenge. Oh! sorry I did a mistake I have written dog in place of duck I will correct it and post it again.
So Rhinos are native of Assam, a state in India. Assam is also known for it's Silk. The pattern behind the Rhino is in an Assamese Traditional Garment Embroidery which i used as a pattern. Lemme know... It's earth tones for me...
I love the color scheme you’ve put together.
Yay !! Thanks Jenn 😍

So - just started today with the challenge - here my first attempt at my "hobby stamp" (geocaching, and my handle is "spacefox")
day 4
Variant 2 of Coverfile projekt Endangered Animals.
If I have counting right are there 20 Endangered animals in this stamp, can you finde them all or have they already vanish??? Animal's included Mammals, fishes, birds, reptils and insect's!
I like the low opacity value of the animals, @wary swan! It helps the stamp to communicate that they are being vanished, creating an awareness message to the viewer. The only suggestion I have is actually a personal preference, the color palette suggests some fun mood with pink and cyan, you might replace them with some colors that might enhance that awareness message like the text in red or orange, and the background with grayscale and white. Just an idea that you might explore finding references too. The typeface choice worked out great!
Beautiful colors, @idle yarrow! I loved the type on a path consistent with the puffin outline. The patterns are looking great as well, and I like the effect that you applied to the word Puffin preserving its contrast against the background. Excellent work!
I'm loving this series, @queen aspen. You kept a great consistent look for all 4 stamps, especially with the text and the way you brought the animals with a context in the background, either with images or textures and patterns. Keep up the great work!
Great colors, @gritty lichen! I loved the effect on the fox, the colors were able to maintain the contrast adding a dramatic effect to the whole stamp. Well done!
Thanks, @coral stone

The following are my Day 2️⃣ & 3️⃣ DCC. For #2 I couldn’t get an italic version of the shadow which prevented me from switching the font of the prominent B to the font in the alternative version. As far as 3️⃣ goes I don’t think I meshed them well together, both photos of the toad and jungle trees were not of the same color range which could have made my time difficult in trying to do the double exposure.
As I post this I can see some other things I can add, maybe I’ll do a reupload
Really enjoying the challenges, here is my kaleidoscope stamp I'm quite happy with it but may play around more with the colours 😀
Glad you're enjoying the challenges @leaden depot! I like the way that you flipped the usual contrast applying a higher amount of contrast to the background and a low amount for the wolf, usually, it's the opposite but you made it work amazingly, (Know the rules to break them 😉 ) I think it balances the composition very nicely. Minor detail that I have would be to make the vertical text on the right brighter, it can be the brightest purple hue from the wolf, just to increase the legibility. Great job!
@heavy nebula about the shadow, you can try Edit > Transform > Warp, and warp it to get the direction and distortion that you want. Super cool works, I think the vibrant tones from the background suits the metallic gradient for the text very well, the only suggestion I have would be to work on the contrast a bit more, the price is catching a lot of attention, so you can apply the gradient on it and fade a touch, then brighten the words Golden Toad to make it stand out a little more and add more contrast to the frog. Of course that these are just some ideas. Keep it up!
Thanks @bleak fossil
Gave +1 Creative Carma to @bleak fossil
Loving the double exposure effect in your stamp, @graceful zinc! I like that you kept the Gorilla key areas visible allowing them to be easily identifiable by the viewers and sill added the nature images. Awesome work!
Great colors and textures @unborn lintel! The patterns and the texts have a nice amount of contrast and I like how you made the panda the main focal point. Nicely done!
@young karma # 8185 beautiful stamp! I like the tilted shadow and how the colors are combining very well. The only suggestion I have would be to clip a levels adjustment layer to the pelican layer, then add some contrast by bringing the first and third sliders closer, this way you'll add more depth to it making the shadows and highlights a bit more visible. Well done!
thanks for your feedback

Day 4 Playing with patterns.
Me ha encantado este tutorial ,he aprendido cosas nuevas que no sabia, muchas gracias.
I seemed to make this one quicker than the others. Maybe I'm learning something. 🙂
Day 4, Finally.
Lovely pattern you have at the back! Did you do it with the same drawing of the fish?
Think I like this version better.
Wonderful pattern - it pulls everything together nicely!
Day 4, 2nd Draft - I like this one better. Welcome feedback - does the realism of the bee clash with the pattern? Any thoughts on how to improve? Thanks - learned so much this week!
@zinc fjord I really like the pattern you used on this one. The subtle blue tones are really great!

@compact pecan ello...thanks. I ran out of time and had to put it away until the am. Blurring is a good idea. Maybe even double vision.
I came back today with fresh eyes and reworked Day 4's image. I made the pattern from a different image of a bat.
double vision would be awesome. Great idea on this one and super-good execution!
Hi Kathleen, can you have a look please. It's my very first Challenge, so had to spend lot's of time to figure something out, and watch the video again, again. NOT EASY

Day 3: Playing catchup... 😀
Day2, Hi everyone 😃 , i'm not sure if the Image of the Whale is hidden too much by the text. What do you think?
Day 2, ✋ I felt like making a clean version without too much texture, but it might feel to boring. Also I feel that some Highlight is missing. Have you any further Ideas to increase visiual interest ?👩

Day 4 I am seeing SO many great designs. Feeling a little outclasses. You all rock!
Loving the intensity of this . The turtle is going to bite me.

Challenge #3 -Double Exposure
@tawny badge Super! Your caribou stamp looks good! Love the cold gradient. Nicely done!
@wary swan : Great improvement on your cover. Text have more impact and the overall mood now fits more with the subject. If I can nitpick (maybe you made it on purpose) there is a line on the left (under "Endangered") you could probably erase. (It looks like a layer border)... My eyes are attracted by it😉 ...but everything else is great. Well done!
Your bee stamp looks great @zinc fjord. In my opinion (as you ask) there is no clash between bee and pattern. They even go very well together. I don't know if you applied a sharpen filter or if it's the original image but sharpeness of your bee is awesome! My only suggestion would be to "framed" your design on the stamp leaving a small outline without pattern to mimic a real stamp...Just an idea. Great job!👍
sea turtle challenge 1
I added an underwater pattern in the design background.
Too many options.
I went with what looked nicest to me as if I down there trying to photograph a sea turtle down in the water.
Also tried blend mode options on the text to give an underwater effect. Had to add rectangle box behind the text to make the text more readable.
Your background pattern is fab and the otter looks drawn . Is it? Did you use a photo that looks like that or manipulate it. Kudoo's nice job
My version of double exposure. I think I need to find a better flag in my collection.
Trying lesson two with text warping. Double the ellipse and changing the color and size of stroke. I am using pictures from my collection from the zoo.
Having another play with Day #3
made adjustments with levels. hope it looks better
tried out another version but here, added a gradient to the stroke

Day 4
Just practicing some of the skills I’m picking up with this challenge. I’m so glad I stumbled on this opportunity to learn things I never thought I would...🙌🏼
Loving this
Here is my Day 4 work. Does this pattern on pattern thing work?
I still can’t quite figure out the double exposure, but I keep practicing...
Thanks, @west plume. I used a regular photo of the otter. Then I added a gradient map (yellow, red, orange, blue) with blending mode Saturation - the result wasn't expected, but I liked it. The pattern is made from two patterns of the same image with the same scale but different angle (0 and 90 deg)

There's my kaleidoscope entry for Day 4 🙂 I'm not sure if I should make the brown bear and the tree smaller but I think the kaleidoscope background might prevail 🙂 Any suggestions?
Thanks! No, I used a photo of coral reef to make the coral pattern.

Here's the day 3 challenge- Double exposure
Super appreciate the response. Unfortunately most of what you suggested isn’t available for PS on the iPad (as of now) so I’m constrained with what I’m able to do.
Challenge #3 2-4-2021 Duble Exposure
Here is my Challenge 4
@blissful egret I think that looks great! You really did a great job marching the hues of the bear to the forest. All you need to do now is do some masking! I might mask the forest in the background and move the bear up a little so that the head is in the sky and the body transitions from the forest. Great job on this one - just one step left!
Here is my orangutan, I hope you like it 🙂
Here is my orangutan, I hope you like it 🙂
@wraith sierra I really like that font! Is that in Adobe fonts?
Thanks! Yes it is! https://fonts.adobe.com/fonts/hwt-etta
A decorative typeface with 2 styles, available from Adobe Fonts for sync and web use. Adobe Fonts is the easiest way to bring great type into your workflow, wherever you are.
@peak sentinel I especially like your polar bears stamp. I’m really liking the colors with the cool blues and your added touch of keeping the snow on the ground really “grounds” the whole image. While I can’t tell what else is in the background image, I wonder if you could mask the top of momma bear so that the scene extends beyond the bears? Fantastic image nonetheless! 👍🏼
@glacial minnow really awesome! I think I would probably mask out the little bit of tree still showing on the elephant’s left ear, but that’s me being picky. 😉
@wraith sierra thank you! I think you picked a really good font to match your overall image and theme.
Gave +1 Creative Carma to @wraith sierra
Thank you! I worked tones on selecting the orangutan, I am not sure whether it pays off.

Here's the day 4 challenge.
@young karma I like how you have just the antennae poking through the border of the stamp. I also like how your triangular pattern brings out the more subtle triangular shape of the grasshopper (in the US we call those Preying Mantis; a smaller (and louder) insect is the grasshopper that actually jumps (hops) in the grassy areas where they live). Nice added touch to have the leaf extending from the corner of the stamp. 👏🏽
thanks for your feedback.
Gave +1 Creative Carma to @compact pecan
I think you did a great job masking out the orangutan's hair. It looks a tiny bit pixilated, but only when I zoom-in on the fine details. That is definitely a challenging cut-out and I think you nailed it!
Love the overall effect on your panda stamp. Would be nice if the words were more legible.
Thanks, glad you like it. I enjoyed a lot the last week challenges 📸

Hi, I decided to take the photoshop callange, How the photo look like?😇
Should've used type on a path for "endangered" but wanted to play with warping text. Plus was fed up with trying to adjust the path for "pangolin". Had fun playing with gradients. I hadn't expected to find such beautiful colors in a pangolin's scales! Wow! I did learn a lot though! Had fun with gradients. Photoshop has excellent built-in help. Also love the fact that we have back-up human help here on discord. This is a screenshot since I can't export 😦
Beautiful work on the double exposure, @wraith sierra! I loved how the top edge of the elephant is hidden helping it to blend with the tree. The only suggestion I have would be to clip a levels adjustment layer to the tree and brighten it a bit more, so the light values will match with the elephant that right now is a touch brighter. Great job!
All feedback very welcome!
Lovely work, @tawny badge! The blur from the pattern definitely helps the dolphin stand out and create a bit of depth. I also like the hexagon shape for the text, the only suggestion I have would be to mask the dolphin area that is outside the stamp, you can easily do that by creating a mask for the dolphin layer > with ctrl-click on the stamp layer thumbnail to load the selection, > invert it with Shift + Ctrl + I > then with your brush and the layer mask selected, paint with black to hide the outside area. Let me know if you have any questions. Keep it up!
Thank you very much! I tried to brighten the tree, but it became gray, maybe my layers are not well organized... I ll try it again!
Gave +1 Creative Carma to @coral stone
I really like the underwater look. I thought of trying it...I'm glad to see you had so much success. Your idea for the type is very effective.
Sorry for the export issue, @hushed spade! Try contacting Adobe support or even reinstall Photoshop to see if it fixes. I loved that you added even more movement with the text on a path, I think it combines really well with the pangolin's tail. Well done!
@wraith sierra in this case you can add a Brightness and Contrast layer and increase the contrast a touch as well, or use the third slider from the levels adjustment layer and drag it to the left, which will make the bright pixels brighter. Hope this helps 🙂
Not exactly the same effect, brighter trees.
Multiple patterns clip masked together for the background with a filter added to the pandas for contrasting color.
@wraith sierra I see, so maybe playing with the midtones slider might help. I made a quick edit here and also dragged the middle slider to the left and brought the first and third closer. Sorry for the different colors, Gifs has a limit for the amount of them. 🙂
Day 4 challenge. I made another version with slight difference that I will post below
@gilded flame Great to see you back! Loved the contrast of the colors, they stand out very nicely from the background and has a great neon style. It also creates a super cool effect on the turtle. Awesome job!
Beautiful textures and patterns, @tired turret! I like how they give a nice saturation and luminosity balance. Well done!
Amazing context to the zebra @urban garnet! The muted and subtle colors adds an interesting effect for the whole stamp. Excellent work!

I updated my Day 4 work a little! I wasn't satisfied with the previous one.😅
Thank you @hollow yarrow for your thoughtful feedback. Much appreciated! I wish I could take credit for the sharpness of the bee, but all credit goes to the photographer who posted the bee on Pexels. Made my job easy as the bee was super sharp and on a white background. So even a novice like me could make it work! Second draft fixes the stamp outline - not sure how I lost track of that and it took a bit to get it back. Thank you again.

Keep meaning to do days 3&4, then keep playing with the pangolin. Any feedback welcome. This has been fun.
oops. sorry.
Just goofin' off with type.
Enough pangolins, I think!
I wanted to make the "NO" sign look like it'd been stamped into the paper. Does anyone know how to do that?
Also I think the pangolin in the last one might benefit from a shadow under him. What do you think?
The easier way is to change blending modes. As long as you have texture in the background.
Do you have any specifics, or do I just play around with the combinations?
For the images above, click on your “no” layer, then change the blending mode to overlay (and also I’d take the drop shadow off)
Hmmm. Not what I was expecting.
You have the texture now, but now the color is off. See if another blending mode in that group works better
I wouldn’t say “flat” - more like “subdued colors. “
2nd attempt at the Brown Bear🤷🏻♀️. Arctic Wolf came out much better, I think.
I really like your bear! They're both lovely, but I like the way the bear blends in with the treeline a lot!
Thank you kindly😊. I’m just having a lot of fun learning. Looking forward to the upcoming week...

PSDCC Day 4 with Kathleen Martin - Kaleidoscope
This red panda is done with my stamp making. Which do you prefer - the color or the black and white?
This is the image from which I started.
I like the color one better because it pops out more. The blue type is hard for me to read. I would do a color that has more of a contrast from the background.

I can definitely read it better now.

Your forest Owlet is awesome @spare badge ! Your backgroud pattern is very nice. Love the duotone effect on the Owl and how it fits with text colors. Nicely done!
I'm excited to have resumed doing these .. but now I'm getting 6-8 "Get ready for your Creative Challenge" emails every day. Anyway to put the kibosh on that?
Stamp day 4
OOh nice! @elfin thorn I did a gorilla too!
@blissful egret I’m really, really liking the new Brown Bear! I think it looks like a legit stamp. Very nice!!
@hollow yarrow Thank you for your feedback! Really appreciate.

Thank you for the feedback and tips. Much appreciated😊
@median crystal I'm digging the textures of your stamp! The colors are looking very cool and I like the amount of contrast that each element has. Great job!
Just love this. Great background pattern. ,typeface is excellent! cheers
Super cool pattern, @elfin thorn! I like that the bananas creates an abract shape for the background. My only suggestion would be to use the Refine Edge tool, inside the Select & Mask workspace, to adjust the fur at the top edge of the gorilla. I loved the background colors! Well done!
Very cool stamp, @onyx field! I loved how you made the pattern in the background a bit blurred giving a depth of field effect to the image. The text and colors are looking great, the only minor detail would be that you might brighten the kangaroo just a touch, especially in the shadows of the bottom areas making it stand out a touch more. 😉
Loving the colors and the contrast of your day 4, @smoky mural! The turtle is standing out very nicely and I like the distribution of colors among shadows, midtones, and highlights. Excellent work!
Awesome stamps series @dusty cloud! I like the consistent blue hue that you're applying, the double exposure looks very dramatic which helps to build a strong message, both images are blending very well too. Keep it up!
@lapis roost I loved the out of bounds effect, that's a great strategy when you are presenting a layout, it gives the impression that is interacting with the other pieces. The colors and patterns are looking awesome. Great job!
Thank you so much! 😆

Love this ! The color, pattern and the graphic quality of the tree which looks carved are awesome. I think a dodge tool with white over the face of the panda would make it pop. The face seems a little too pink all over. but awesome!

Good morning
Finally caught up! Here's what I've been working on for challenge day 4. Do you think my penguins could stand out more?
Challenge Day 3 - A little late with this one as I dedicated more time to it in order to fulfill my "vision". Would love to hear your feedback on it! 😊
Running behind but loved Fridays challenge. Added Ca to my phone and so pattern is the woods today as are the colours used. Robin had to be taken from stock but this is a great tool, thank you. Also dont worry about repeating steps, how ekse does it stay fresh and remebered.
Sorry taxt went before i added image
What do you think of this imaginary picture? 😉
If y'all watched the livestream, you'll see that I had some trouble getting my composite to sit within my arched BG shape. How would you achieve the desired result? I think a layer mask was the way to go.
Don't know if it's the best way but once I had my landscapes set and lined up I turned the group into a Smart Object. That allowed me to use a clipping mask to the shape.
I'm so happy I'm not the only one who sometimes just cant remember how i achieved a result.
Hey I'm still learning. Everything about this is an adventure lol
Definitivly! I think using layer mask on your group (based on pink shape) is the best way... Merging group as a smart object sometimes gives weird results particularly when different blending modes interact in the same group.
Ha! Totally.
Todays Challenge 08/02/21 comments welcome

Surreal lynx
😁 Sorry about the brightness.of the ‘roo .. finally worked out the black/white masking ( took me long enough ! ) I’d but a Gaussian blur copy of him behind to try highlight him more didn’t even think of brightening his image ! Tanx 😆

i like the elephant style design here with the tree background poping out.

Great work! The composition works perfectly and great choice of colour palette 🥰 It all works so well together!
Loved the textured words @limber thistle, also great job keeping the consistency of the colors on both days. The text and the elements also have a great amount of contrast. Nicely done!
Lovely work, @simple idol! The blue pattern in the background combines really well with the background color, it can be tricky to combine primary colors but you did it great. Well done!

DCC 5! 😀 🦎 🏜️
@waxen ledge great job with the colors! I loved the textures and how the green combines very well with the red for contrast. The whole stamp came out great! Very nice job!
@copper moss wow loved the monochromatic tones for the background! The masking of the owl looks very precise, I like the way it stands out, and the eyes are a cool focal point. Great work!
Loved the brightness of the yellows and the oranges, @heavy ruin! It gives a cool gold color for the lynx and the rocks. The typeface is looking very on point as well, just like the contrast. Well done!
No problem 😉
How did you get that color effect on the panda and on the tree? Looks good.
My results for Day 3.
Nice palette @young karma! The cool tones from the background are combining very well with the yellows from the foreground elements, the only suggestion would be to increase the contrast of the lynx and the rocks, you can use a clipped levels adjustment layer for this, fine-tuning the three sliders. Let me know if you need any help. Great job!
Loved the golden shine tone from the lynx, @queen aspen! It stands out great from the background. The shape also helps to keep everything balanced and consistent. Awesome job!

I'm digging this solar effect, @wraith sierra! Loved the colors that you used and the way you kept the background flat, avoiding the stamp to look busy. Night version looks very on point! Great job!
Really nice @thorn geyser! Your polar bear stamp is awesome. I like the use of 'sunset' gradient contrasting with foreground colors. It really makes the bear pop! Impressive work!
Thanks! 😄

Nice Koala stamp @paper laurel . Background pattern is really cool and duotone effect on koala makes pop. Love how you used branches add depth coming out the frame. Nicely done!
@vale sentinel super cool work, I like the saturation contrast between the background and foreground. The texts also worked out nicely, especially because of the subtle stroke that helps to preserve the contrast. Well done!
Day 5. Feedback welcomed. 😁
A great lady. She will be missed.
Challenge Surreal Landscape. I found this difficult and it took me ages to do this but determination wins. An interesting topic. I do love stamps too. I wasn't sure how to get the Group back to show again to make adjustments.

@marble peak Great photo! You can use any photos of yours for these challenges that you want. It's really just a matter of deciding if it fits the idea you want for your design depending upon what you're going for. These challenges are pretty open ended to take them where you want.

here's my daily challenge. i'm having difficulty with gradients and which layers they affect among others haha. i also have no idea how to integrate the last file - adobestock_27138080_Preview. that is entirely lost on me.
@wooden bloom Glad to hear it worked out! It's always much slower and full of trial and error the first couple times before you get the feel for it. This looks good, I like the color contrast and the clear distinction between shapes. Nice work!
@compact pecan Very nice! I like the way you broke the penguin out of the frame in this one. I think this darker background change contrasts a lot better than the gray. The stylized/painterly filter on the penguin makes for a nice look and style too. Looks good!
@empty star Loving the variations on these designs! I especially like the way you played with color and value contrast on the 3rd one. Just goes to show how much color can change the look and feel of a design. The texture is looking good too!
@jagged falcon Very cool! Definitely a surreal sort of look to this Day 5 design which is really neat. My main suggestion would be that the mask on the panther could be cleaned up a bit. I think the Quick Selection Tool along with the Refine Edge Brush tool and "Refine Hair" button within Select and Mask can do a really nice job of getting natural looking edges. Nice work!
@runic basin Great composite with the lynx and starry sky! Putting it within a lynx head silhouette is also a nice touch. I really like the background pattern you used too, though I wonder if lowering the saturation of the background slightly might make the lynx stand out more and ensure that the highest color contrast is between the orange lynx and blue sky. Might give the image a nice focus. Just a thought, nicely done!
@ruby heron The last file is basically just a stamp texture to add a little more realism. You can do this by cutting out the texture you want and placing it on top of your design. Switching different blending modes will get rid of the white background, leaving only the texture. Multiply would be an easy one, but you can play around with different blending modes for potentially different effects.
As far as gradients go, you're just creating a new layer with a solid gradient fill, then clipping that layer to your cut out/masked pangolin layer below so it only affects the pangolin and no other elements. Hopefully that makes sense.
This is looking really nice by the way! I like the bold blue/orange contrast. It could be nice to shift the gradient a little more towards green for a more teal type color, that might help it pop out from the background more by giving it some hue contrast. Nice work!
day 5... Is it normal to spend more time looking for photos than working on them?
DCC Day4
Absolutely Yes
Late to the game! Day 1...
@wispy compass Ooh, I like the sort of abstract look to the background of the Day 4 challenge. The only suggestion I might have would be to maybe play with the contrast of the background to give the bird a stronger focus. You could do this a variety of ways, for example, give the background a slight blur, shift the hue, desaturate the background slightly, or either darken or brighten it a bit. Just something so both elements are the same value, color, saturation, or sharpness. But overall this is looking great, very nice work!
@urban berry This is working very nicely! The gradient against the dark blue background creates some nice contrast to focus the image on the turtle. If I had any suggestion it might be to shift the gradient color around the turtle's head to be a more teal color, as in a bit more towards the green range. Currently the highest point of contrast is the neon green around the back of the turtle and that might balance it out a bit and pull more focus towards the head. Nice job!
@bleak fossil Thank you for you input on the Lynx Stamp...I'm assuming you are referring to the Saturation of the Mountan Range?...I agree that it is a bit dark...I'll lighten it up a bit...if I can...LOL. Trying to get the look of mountains at night. I'll give it a shot and see what I looks like. Thanks again.
Gave +1 Creative Carma to @bleak fossil
@fervent violet Great colors, the elephant contrasts nicely against the darker background. I really like the high key colors of your double exposure effect, it gives it a very hot, fiery look, almost like it's glowing. Very cool!
@stone wigeon Ooh, great colors on this! It certainly pushes that surreal look. Perhaps shifting the color/hue on the right to something a little different could further push the contrast of the lizard? Though it really depends on what you're going for, at the moment it almost kind of gives the lizard a camouflaged look which is kind of cool too. Nice work!
@severe ice Very nice pattern on your Day 4 challenge! I like the way you used color to really make the Panda stand out against the background too. This is sort of a nitpick, but perhaps masking out the triangle of negative space above the panda's head between the tree and the branch might help clean up the tree while also creating a bit more contrast near the panda's face. Looks good!
that was one bizarre mistake - when putting on the live shape mask half of the stamp disappeared and ended up on another file !!! talk about ... 😂
That's beautiful!
Day 2
Challenge 5 - Surreal...Feedback is appreciated...It was challenge to remove the hard edge on the boulders image with regards to the sky line. To compensate, I elected to emboss the image to deflect from the line.
@paper laurel I think this is working really well, though it could also be cool to see different color variations if you had them in mind. I like how clearly the color creates readability between all the different elements, and the background pattern adds a lot of interest without being too bold as to be distracting from the koala. Very nicely done!
@blissful egret That's good to hear! The subdued values of the background makes for a really interesting, sort of aged storybook/illustrated type of look, while the more intense contrast of the lynx gives it some nice pop and focus. Nice work!
@marble peak Great photo! You can use any photos of yours for these challenges that you want. It's really just a matter of deciding if it fits the idea you want for your design depending upon what you're going for. These challenges are pretty open ended to take them where you want.
@zinc fjord That's a good idea, after a while if you feel comfortable enough with any given challenge you can always push it as far as you like. I like it! The color being excluded to the lynx and sky only definitely makes those two shapes pop out more than any other. Typically you want the landscape further back to have less contrast to mimic the effect of atmospheric perspective, so flipping the contrast of the two landscape layers could help, but if this is a surreal image then that might be what you want, hah. Nicely done!
@urban berry Nice job Cindy, the text arch is looking good! The color of the orangutan and background also have a nice clear contrast. It might be nice to give the text a message rather than repeating the word. Maybe something like the region of the world that particular orangutan is from, or something about protecting/helping the orangutan population or endangered animals, etc. Just an idea, nice work!
So cute!!! I really like the way nature melts into the background and you can still feel the shape. 😍
@tawny badge Ooh, I love that smooth gradient! It makes for some really nice color contrast, and the pattern on the whale adds some nice interest. I like the blurred background pattern too, nice job!
Day 5- I made a layer mask with the shape of the arch co place in the background images, so that it allows the blending mode to do the job.
Sharing my Day 4-Kaleidoscope 🙂

Hi Guys! I wanted to post something. Not my favorite, but wanted to still post it. Computer crashed while saving, but thankfully photoshop held on to a recovery version for me! I guess its a 'sign' to take a break 🙂
@idle yarrow Hah, I think you're definitely not alone in that. This is looking good! I like the way you masked the background into the jungle image. The way the frog breaks the frame works really well to add some depth and also adds a nice pop of color. Looks good!
@eternal mica Really cool patterns and textures on this surreal design! The green and red make for a nice strong contrast. The images are blended together nicely as well, nice job!
@warm hamlet Ooh, that's always scary, glad it worked out. I like the background texture you got in this design. The color contrast of the lemur works nicely to give the image some focus too, well done!

Hi everyone -this one is Day5 - Actually the live-form shoud be a 5-edged Polygon but Photoshop would not let me fill the form with a color , so I copied the liveform square of the document and rounded the edges.😔
Hi @blissful egret , i love your polarbear! Wow, everything perfekt, colours match so fine! and the Filters are so nice.
As you are asking for the white outline of the stamp. There should be a liveform at the bottom of your layers, which is white. if you clip evesthing to the liveform you would preserve the outline.
Hi! Hope you like! Do you think it needs more color? ?

You can always stick to the work you're pleased with. If you like it, then it's great! I love the blue tints you added to the background, making the solar effect from the bird grab all the attention. The pattern was a nice detail as well.
