PSDC - 01
I had to reduce the effect to about 70% to make it look realistic. She even liked the result.
Challenge 1 - Refine a Portrait, Here i played with color, Gaze, Smoothness, Blur and expressions.
For some reason it wouldn't let me upload the image I created with the before & after combined 🙈 but this is my end result!
Day #1 - Refine a Portrait using Neural Filters. Photo from nathan-dumlao-Y37uw9z87pE-unsplash
@pliant geyser Really interesting colors and styling to this! Almost kind of an illustrated look within the face. I think Photoshop has a lot of tools that can often give a big jump start to getting to a certain look or result, and being able to play with the different options and sliders offers a lot of flexibility. Looks cool!
@covert loom Really cool design and effects with the portraits! I like the graphic elements you added and the shadow adds some nice depth. It could be nice to see one of the images a bit bigger than the rest to show it off as a focus a bit more. Nicely done!
@dusky wave Very nice, there's definitely a softness to the skin and the lighting seems to work really well with this image too. Some really nice contrast and clarity. Nice job!
@bold valley Really cool! I believe I saw that technique on an Adobe Live stream with Aaron Nace. Really interesting and effective method for retouching for sure. Always great to be able to mix and match different techniques as needed depending on their strengths. Nice work with this portrait!
@lucid plover Very Nice! I like the additional contrast and color grading you added to the image, it looks good. If you wanted to push it even further I think giving the background a bit of a blur to make it appear slightly out of focus and make her a stronger focal point could be a nice look for this image. Well done!
@bleak fossil Thanks, Sam. I watched Aaron's too.
Gave +1 Creative Carma to @bleak fossil
@digital pike Nicely done, the changes are looking quite natural! Nice job on the masking as well. If I had any suggestion it might be to mask out the small are on the left side edge of the face right below the glasses where it looks like the edge is broken. But that's a minor nitpick. Really nice work!
Thank you @bleak fossil
Gave +1 Creative Carma to @bleak fossil
@young karma Ooh, very nice! I like how you included a step by step as well. These effects worked very nicely on this image. If I had any suggestion it might be to mask out the effect on the background. The original softness of the out of focus background looks very nice and natural, but the effects you applied look a bit odd on the background with such hard edges. Though it's kind of an interesting stylized effect in its own right if that's something you wanted to keep. Nice job!
PSDCC with Jesús Ramirez- Day 1 - Refine a Portrait
I can see how these filters are a good starting place, but things like teeth get very creepy very quickly! 🙂
The Neural Filters were fun to play around with, but I'm not sure I would use them when retouching portraits for clients.
Day 1: Refine a Portrait (seemingly from the '90s)
I did the second image twice, and both times, something cut-off the top of his head. I don't know what is doing that, but it doesn't show up until I save to a new layer, then BOOM! Cut-off-head! Any ideas?
original image
@glacial minnow: your touch-up really looks great. I like how you reduced blemishes and kept the whole image realistic. Well done!👍
@silk moon: great job on blemishes. I like how you softened the skin and how you kept the highlights and shadows. To nitpick I think the skin is a bit too soft and you lost the grain... but it's just a point of view. Anyway it's a great improvement. Bravo!👍
@spare badge: Impressive! I suppose you did not go with Neural filters extreme settings. Great result!👌
@fallow bough: Like the young version and old version👍 but honestly your last comment made me laugh 🤣
Given the quality of the quick selfie, I didn't try to change a lot in the image. It was interesting to discover that changing the gaze direction by a tiny amount (1% in this case) realistically removed all the reflections in my glasses. That is definitely something to remember for the future.
@hollow yarrow Thank you for your feedback! Really appreciate! Yes, you are right. I didn't go with extreme setting. 🙂
Gave +1 Creative Carma to @hollow yarrow
Used the skin touch up with a mask
Ramona en Valle de Guadalupe - Neural Filters Feathered with White Mask
@coarse timber Very nice job! There's a nice softness to this portrait without looking too unnatural or anything. I like how Photoshop knows to maintain the level of focus/blur on the hair. Looks good!
@eternal mica Hah, great photo to try this on. Really interesting to see how this applies to an older black and white photo. Great test for the Colorize option too. My only suggestion would be to mask it out a bit around the outside of the face where it applied color outside of the ears and head, and the colorized area to the right of the beard. Nice work!
@neat shale Very cool, it seems to have worked out really nicely for this image! Interesting to see how it maintained the lighting as well. Nice job with the expression and head rotation. The edges are all looking really nice and natural. That can sometimes get a bit crazy with Neural Filters so nice job on that. Looks good!
@silk moon Very nice job with all the retouching! It looks like you kept the skin tone and coloration nicely. The only thing I'd say would me to maybe mask out the area around the nose so we the original a bit more. The highlight around the nose looks almost a bit too airbrushed and it appears as though we lost the contrast in the shadows around the nose and nostrils which makes it appear faded and like it doesn't fit in with the rest of the portrait as much. Nice work!
@spare badge Ooh, very nice! The colorize option worked well with this image. The expression change is looking solid too, everything is looking quite natural together. Looks good!
@bleak fossil thank you so much for the feedback sam!!! yeah it's really tough to make it look natural or else it ends up looking funny 😂
Gave +1 Creative Carma to @bleak fossil
@sweet fern Looks good Ron! I definitely think the key with a lot of these retouching style techniques is not being too heavy handed, and this is looking very nice and natural. Nicely done!
@glacial minnow Very cool! The expression change in the mouth actually looks really nice and natural. It adds a nice emotional change to the portrait too. Also interesting to see how it softened his skin but still kept some of the texture and freckles in there. Looks good!
@deep mango Very cool, the expression change is subtle but makes a big difference and looks natural! My only suggestion would be to mask out the change above the eye on the left hand side where it meets the beanie. It looks like that edge between the head and the hat gets broken a bit. Nice work!
@simple dagger Very nicely done! These edits are looking great. They're quite noticeable but still very realistic and natural looking with all the texture and everything being retained. Great photo choice for this challenge too, nice work!
@gentle cairn Nice job! It might be nice to see the "before" image to be able to see what the original looked like. It could also be nice to boost the bright tones in this image a bit with a curves or levels adjustment to give it a bit more pop. Good work 👍
@shy bobcat Nice work, Pam! The subtle expression change looks really natural, and all the edits do a nice job of softening the lines and details in the face rather than getting rid of them completely for a nice realistic look. It might help to use a soft brush to mask out the effect on the neck/under chin area just a touch to give it a more natural transition, but that's a very minor nitpick. Looks great!
@zenith mulch Really cool, the subtle changes in the portrait are looking good. I also really like what you did with the object removal and the color tint on the window. It really gives the portrait some excellent color temperature contrast to create a strong focal point. Nicely done!
Gave +1 Creative Carma to @bleak fossil
@bleak fossil thank you for the feedback, I’ll see if I can improve the effect.
day 1, Refine a portrait- slightly perturbed, lol. fun to play with these filters!
I've fixed the masking @bleak fossil 🙂
@bleak fossil Thank you, I did try to keep the slight appearance of the freckles. I didn't want to smooth out his skin too much.
Gave +1 Creative Carma to @bleak fossil
@hollow yarrow Thanks for the feedback
Here is my challenge 1. I used skin smoothing, hair thickness and happy in the neural filters
This is my before image
Challenge 1. This was a tough one getting it to look somewhat right. I had to blur the man to match the depth of field.

@ruby panther : recycling past challenge is a great idea! your lemur will be as popular as banana is for Jesus 😝
Thanks @hollow yarrow I have always used the past challenge as the next ones cover. Saves a great deal of time.
Gave +1 Creative Carma to @hollow yarrow
@south adder : Well done! i didn't know there was a "Vampirize" Neural Filter.... Where is it? ...🤪 I'm kidding! Great job!👍
@bleak fossil Thanks Sam. Youre critique is right on. I believe I corrected it in the second image I posted
Updated to add a solid color layer with a color BM

Day 1 - Refine a Portrait: This effect is giving a father and son comparison effect 😆
Don't hold your horses! I'm here to learn 😉
Woohoo! I found that playing with hair thickness gave this soft glow around her and made her features less sharp. then I played a little with light direction to make it look more natural and anger to change the shape of her lips. Cool!
I figured out what was causing the super-imposed image to get cut-off. After applying the neural filter, I chose "new layer" which for some unknown reason, cut off some of the top and bottom of the image. So, instead, I chose "new layer with layer mask" and it did the same thing, but I had the mask where I could paint with white and add those parts back in. Lesson learned - always use a layer mask when available.
original image with the cut-off parts
DCC Day 1,Refine portrait, thank you @bleak fossil for the feedback to blur the background
Day 1: Neural filter editing - one photo from adobe stock adjusted both younger and older. I found it interesting that the enhancements stopped just below the chin and just above the forehead, which meant I had to do some additional retouches.
Seamless Pattern (Challenge #2) I will know more new ideas @lethal mural
I am eager to know new ideas
Original Picture
Result: Ok I've cheated for this one, i didn't use the new makeup transfer functionality because it didn't work on this model, so i had to use hue and brushese to create a makeup, i think it turn out pretty well for her right eye but that's not a masterpiece

Day 2: Shark pattern
The never-ending brick wall was a little challenging with the texture.
Gave +1 Creative Carma to @steady oyster
@compact pecan : sharks pattern is really impressive! I think your never-ending brick wall points out importance of the starting image choice. In particular with this type of texture...your result is still consistent. Well done!
@lucid plover Ah, that looks good, I like it!
thank you very much @bleak fossil

Challenge #2 Seamless pattern
Hello friends, I finally got to Day 1. Here we are.
Challenge #1 Refining a Portrait (My original photo is by Megan Bagshaw on UnSplash.) I tried to make my subject “happy” using Neural Filters but it wasn’t working well on this image.
@eternal mica : your patterns looks fine. The 8% result gives an interesting effect!
@silk moon : Awesome! it reminds me of Temi coker designs. Great idea to mix heads, turing effect, shape and D... Very dynamic pattern!
@winter tinsel impressive touch-up work!
Challenge # 2 Seamless pattern
@hollow yarrow thank you, that's a huge compliment! 😍 that guy is amazing.

Challenge #2: Seamless pattern. A photo of pavement run through the oil paint filter.
@hollow yarrow Thank you Franck. I always appreciate any comment you make about my submissions. I have a question. How do I add the pattern from my patterns panel into My Library files?
Gave +1 Creative Carma to @hollow yarrow
used pattern preview on top of a pattern made with pattern preview!
@eternal mica : not sure to understand your question. If you want to export your pattern=> window/patterns... select one or all the patterns you want to export then right click "export selected pattern"...=> a .pat file will be created with your pattern(s) inside.
If you want to add patterns to your cc library I don't know if it's possible I never tried it... Maybe you could ask in "ask-a-question" section. Hope it will help you!
@hollow yarrow I want to add them to my CC library.
Pink Flower seamless pattern
@eternal mica : Ok, it's a good question and I don't have answer :(
I tried adobe Help and found nothing... I suggest you to send a message in ask-a-question section... Sorry!
Thank you for your assistance. I'll do that.
Here are a couple tests from today's challenge, drawing shapes and using an image from adobe stock.
Also, these two that had a lot of solid color areas, I noticed a faint white line when I filled the canvas with pattern. Any ideas why I am getting that, so I can correct it?
an example of what i have so far. feedback?
Hey, @eternal mica! Try this with the pattern layer selected, click on the Plus icon from the libraries panel and choose graphic. To apply the pattern fill from the library, just click and drag it from the libraries panel while pressing alt. 🙂
Day two; continuous patterns. Here are a couple, that I worked on using the symmetry brush. I did them on my laptop but this evening made the files in Photoshop iPad version, so they didn’t work as well as I would have hoped.
@coral stone I made a group out of all the rose patterns. then I made a group of the wood bg patterns. Then I made a group out of the two groups. I clicked + add all and it was added. Thank you. As always, youre Johnny on the spot!!!

Day #2 Seamless Pattern
Here's my seamless pattern from today's challenge. I used filters, diffuse cloud blur, and brushes to create this.
I did a holiday themed pattern for today's project, this pattern tool and adobe free stock was fun to explore.
Worked with water background to get rid of seams; added my favorite animal, the hippo, at varying sizes
Challenge 2 - Seamless Pattern The first one by following Jesus, the second with Adobe Capture of my backyard
Day 2 - Seamless patterns
I could not just make patterns so I did a quick poster with my homemade patterns 😉
Here are samples of my homemade patterns used. I put the pattern file below.

PS Creative Challenge Day 1 (Neural filters)
Ps Creative Challenge Day 1 Before Neural filters
PS Creative Challenge Day 2 (Seamless Pattern)
@forest aspen Really cool to see you adjusting the sliders both ways for this Day 1 challenge! Interesting to see how Neural Filters handles it. I've noticed that too, sometimes you have to take a little extra work to blend the effect in with the neck in a natural way. This is looking good! This is unrelated to the challenge, but oftentimes the Refine Edge Brush tool gives the hair a more natural looking mask/edge if you haven't played around with that yet. Nicely done!
@weary palm Hah, perfect, I definitely get that sort of vibe. I like how everything fits together really nicely with an illustrated look to it and there's enough variety to keep the pattern interesting. Looks good!
@gentle cairn If you're trying to share your Oaktree image design your best bet is probably uploading it here in Jpeg form.
@compact pecan Ah yeah, making seamless patterns from things like bricks can be tricky with how they have to line up. I've painted textures like that which is almost a bit easier when you can just draw and paint to make them fit, but adjusting photos definitely takes a good amount of fine tuning. Nice work on these, the sharks look good too. Could be interesting to see it repeated a bit in a sort of gift wrap style fashion. Nice job!
@hollow yarrow Hah, that's great Franck, nice work! That's nice of you to share the patterns too, very cool. They're looking good!
@deep mango Very cool! The illustrated elements are looking really good, and the pattern works excellently. I like how the lighter colored designs and background give a bit of focus to the roses. The mockup is a great way to see how it works in context, nicely done!
@young karma Looking good! I like the red/green contrast and the directional change of the head to give the pattern some more interest. Nice job with all the additional design elements. I feel like maybe the whole thing could be brightened up just a touch to give it a little more contrast. Nice work!
@spare badge Looking good, I like the variety in sizes you got here to give the pattern some nice variety. The light and shadow gives it an interesting effect of depth too. The color variations add some nice variety and the animation is a great touch. Nice work!
@somber gyro Hah, very nice, patterns on patterns. I like the texture difference between the flowers and the background. There's some really nice color contrast too. Looking good!
@neat sparrow Looks cool! Kind of looks like trees growing into each other to form a wall, a really interesting effect. The blending between the textures is looking good, nice job!
@sick moat Great pattern! I really like the depth of it with how the larger flowers sit on top of the darker colors connected by the lighter line shapes. Really interesting sort of geometric/organic look to it. Nicely done!
@winter tinsel Really nice job using a variety of tools to retouch this image. Some images definitely work better with the expression shift than others. Nice job keeping a soft but natural look to the skin on this image. Looking good!
@sonic saddle This is looking awesome, I love the radial texture effect of these designs. The size variation makes for a really nice pattern and the mockup looks great. I really like the more subdued colors, very nice work!
@spark ledge Really cool to see you experimenting with a bunch of different patterns! I like how you played around with different styles and techniques for these. There's some really nice variety. Would be neat to see this on mockups for sure. Looking good!
@neat shale Looks good! I like the size variety you made to give the pattern some interest. Not much for feedback, but it could be cool to see color variations applied to this pattern design if you want to push it further. Maybe one where the small or large dots are a sort of gold color? Or maybe a different color palette completely? Just an idea if you want to explore it more, solid work!
@glacial minnow Really interesting visual effect that's created by this pattern. I like the softness of the colors, and the rainbow sort of effect looks really nice. Has a bit of a hand illustrated feel, almost has some Summer vibes to it too. Very nice!
@sterile dagger Very cool, it has a sort of organic/wood grain look to it which I think fits nicely with the flower theme. The color contrast is working well. Nice job with all the different techniques to make this one 👍
@ruby gorge Very nice Wesley! Welcome in, glad you joined us. This is looking good, nice job with the filter effects. My only suggestion might be to use a levels adjustment layer to boost the dark tones just a touch just to get a little more contrast back in the face so it doesn't look washed out or anything. I sometimes like to make a mask, turn it all black, and airbrush in the effect where I want it with white. Nice job!
@strong lake Great design! Almost looks like a face to me, hah. Really nice variety of colors for this pattern. I like how there's both a bright and colorful version and some more reserved versions too. Nicely done!
@coral mason Solid work! I like the subtlety of the skin touch ups with the neural filters, and the colorful background really gives the image an upbeat feel. Really nice job masking the hair as well! I really like the texture on the pattern, and the variation on both size and value for the trees adds some really nice variety 👍
@shy bobcat Great patterns, Pam! Nice variety in style and color between these two. I especially like the variety in colors and shapes of the green design. I could picture this being on of those animated/morphing visual patterns you sometimes see. There’s a really nice visual hierarchy and harmony to both of this. Well done!

@magic wagon awesome mockups, Bruno! The colors and the graphics are looking great too! I like how you managed the distribution of the elements and played with scale. Let me know if you'll put them on sale 😄 Great job!
I like the geometric style of your pattern, @wary swan! The colors are very well balanced and the stripes add that cool movement to the image, especially when they are combined together (in the second image). Well done! 🙂
@magic wagon Awesome PS bananas patterns! Jesus would probably wear one of your t-shirts if it would be available in black. Well done!

Hey guys I am new here, currently learning photoshop, and I want to improve as well as create on a more regular basis...
Can anyone give me a short summary of how things work on this server, I have been a lurker on this server for a while and i went through all the channels but still, I don't quite understand how stuff works.
Thank you 😄
@sonic saddle It's great to see you applying this effect to a previous challenge! I believe the first image is the "before" one, correct? If so, I think it might be good to keep the sky brighter than the mountains. If you look up night time photos of mountains and the sky you'll see that the sky is basically always lighter, with the mountains being more of a silhouette. I attached an example image. It might help to brighten the lower part of the sky where it meets the mountain and give the sky a bit of a gradient for a more natural look. It might also help maintain the shape and silhouette of the castle against the background.

@spark ledge Really cool to see you experimenting with a bunch of different patterns! I like how you played around with different styles and techniques for these. There's some really nice variety. Would be neat to see this on mockups for sure. Looking good!
@bleak fossil Thank you! Appreciate the feedback. I'm not sure how to do the mock-ups, but I will need to look into those. Question, on a few of the patterns that I created, there is a very faint white seam line that shows up in the fill (see screenshot for close-up. Any ideas why I am getting this so I can correct it?
This reminded me of a Robert A. Heinlein story I read a long time ago. I just can't remember which one.
@spark ledge Hmm, interesting, and it looks like you painted all the way to the edge/through the bounding box as to not leave any extra space, correct? Are you seeing this both in Pattern Preview as well as after saving the pattern and applying it? Or just one or the other? It also might be good to post this in the #❓ask-a-question section so it doesn't get lost among all the challenge posts so quickly.
Here's my Replace the Sky photo.
My first stab at this, also my first post here.
Sky replacement with sky out side my house at night composited with a galaxy photo then overlaid a candlelit LUT.
Day 2. I have to try doing a more traditional pattern.
Day 3: Sky Replacement. I rummaged trough my photographs and found a Sandhill Crane that had walked out on the boardwalk with me at Kensington Nature Center. The wood structure and fencing, while mostly blurred, still showed, so I thought I'd add one of my Anchor Bay skies behind him. Turns out the new sky replacement sensei doesn't recognize skies without trees (or doesn't know that even cranes have backgrounds ;-). so I did this one the old fashioned way. My second try was with my photo of Island Park in Eaton Rapids. Sensei liked this one much better. It took me a while to figure out adding a reflection of the sky ruined my sky replacement. I did duplicate layer three times before I noticed there was a link icon . . . duh! Unlinking it let me transform the copy without changing the original. Whew!
DCC Day 2: Patterns
Day 1 using an image from the previous challenges that I couldn't animate. I figured I might as well use it.
DCC Day 3: Sky replacement (Chiflicka - Bulgaria)
Sky Replacement with reflection in the river (Lukovit Bulgaria)

day 3!!! used content aware in before image to add more room for sky and edited coloring of foreground and added reflection to make it a little more realistic. feedback?
@neat shale : great job with the content aware. On the other hand I think you need to darken more the Golden Gate image to make it match with the sky you chosen. You could use a level adjustment layer, gradient map or color look-up... If you google "change day to night with photoshop" you should find some quick tutorials. When your foreground will be darker your reflection will pop more. Good luck!
@bleak fossil Yes, I painted all the way outside of bounding box. The lines showed up once I applied pattern fill to another document- That was using the Edit/Fill/Pattern Fill commands. Just now I tried dragging the same pattern into layers panel (so I guess applying a pattern fill adjustment layer) and I did NOT get the lines.
**I went back to the Edit/Fill/Pattern Fill and set the spacing of pattern application to -1 instead of 0, and I did not see the lines. So maybe it is the spacing and relatively low resolution of the pattern (those my doc was set to 72 dpi). Anyway, I'll keep an eye on. that for future.
@queen aspen : Wow! Great skies replacement! First one is cool but second is very impressive! You made awesome job to make your reflection realistic! Bravo!

@hollow yarrow thank you for the feedback!!! i know how i've done it before (example before sky replacement was a thing: https://www.behance.net/gallery/83455785/72619-Photoshop-Daily-Creative-Challenge-Day-4) i just fixed it with one layer adjustment for color but yeah thank u

Day #3 Sky Replacement
@south adder Very nice! It's always really cool to see a time of day shift in a photo for a really dramatic change. This is a great photo for a full moon night sky. The clouds and gradients in the sky definitely add some nice interest compared to the original. The lighting seems to fit quite nicely in this photo. If you wanted to push it any further I think using a multiply or levels adjustment to mask out and darken the right side of the building (which is facing away from the moon more) might help it match the lighting of the scene even more. Good job!
@dusky wave Looks good! I like the bold colors and contrast between the blue sky and warm orange tones in the ground. My only suggestion is it looks like you could probably clean up the masking around the building in the sky. There appears to be a bit of a light seam still showing. Nice work!
@cursive pulsar Super cool, these sky replacements definitely give each image a really dramatic look. It's always cool to see how much the sky can change the mood and look of an image in such a big way. The lighting in the scene seems to match with the skies very nicely as well. Great work!
@dusky swallow Great pattern, I really love the pink and blue color scheme on this one! Nice work with the repeating pattern effect. I'm not sure if the bottom is meant to be a rolling up paper effect for a mockup, might it might look a bit more realistic to use a mockup photo for that to get some more realistic lighting on the curved piece and apply the pattern with a blending mode. Just an idea of course. Nicely done!
@bleak fossil thank you so much, that means a lot getting appreciation for my works... lot more coming soon stay tuned for that on my Insta handle @https://www.instagram.com/puneeth___naik/
Gave +1 Creative Carma to @bleak fossil
@eternal mica Oooh, great idea with the animation! It definitely adds a lot of mood and life to this image. The fog passing in from of the moon works really well. My only nitpicks if you want to push it further would be to clean up the mask around the tree and blow the building on the grass where it looks a bit faded with gray. Very cool design!
Hello! Pattern Challenge
@safe flint Great photo for this challenge! It fits the theme perfectly and the blue sky against the warmer tones of the dragon and building make for some really great contrast. Nicely done!
@chilly hawk I love the soft colors in this pattern! Really nice variety of colors, shapes, and varying contrast to make this really visually interesting. It has some great variation and they all have a nice read against the blue of the background. Looks great!
@digital pike This is looking really solid! I like how you went with the unexpected bright, blue, happy looking sky for this image, hah. Always neat to see how much the sky can dictate the mood of an image. Very nice job getting a clean masking around the tree too. Nice work!
Thanks, @hollow yarrow
Gave +1 Creative Carma to @hollow yarrow
@sweet fern Ooh, this looks great! The sky has a really cool feel and the color grading to the image makes it fit together very nicely. Definitely an eerie look to it. The masking around the tree and vegetation is looking excellent as well. Great image!
@sterile dagger Looking good! It's great to see how flexible this tool can be for different images. The rainbow is a really nice touch. I'd just suggest cleaning up the mask around the far/bottom wings for a bit more of a natural look. Nicely done!
@spare badge Looks great! Very nice job with the color grading and shifting the lighting to match the sky change. It gives the whole image a really nice dramatic look and matches the images together very well. 👍
@vague harbor Awesome, welcome in, glad you're joining us! Really nice job on the image, the adjustments you made to the landscape fit the lighting/sky very nicely. The masking around the tree and everything is looking really solid too. Though I think you could clean up the mask a little around the sides of the building which seem to have a bit of a seam, though it's quite minor. Great work!
@bold valley Oooh, really cool sky choice for this challenge! The color grading for the environment fits them together very nicely as well. My only suggestion is I feel like the landscape, particularly in the foreground could be darkened down just a touch to better match the lighting of the sky. Really nice masking on this too, nice job!
@safe flint This is a really cool take on the Day 2 challenge! Kind of looks like it could be a texture for a stylized video game. Definitely useful to be able to create seamless textures for that type of thing. I like the lighting and shadow you added to this. Nice work!
@zenith mulch Really cool sky you chose for this challenge! Definitely makes for a very dramatic look to everything. The masking is looking good. Though I feel like we'd see more of those dramatic clouds in the reflection of the water in this particular image, if you feel like pushing it any further. Well done!
@unkempt field Very nice, if you hadn't linked the before image I wouldn't have known what changes were made aside from the background. All the edits are looking really nice and natural! The masking is looking really solid too. Great work with the pattern too, I think the butterfly with the wood texture works together nicely. Great job!
@glacial minnow Awesome to see you doing an animated/video form for this challenge! I love how you included the reflection of the fireworks in the water. My only nitpick is it would be preferable if the footage was stabilized for a more realistic look, but of course that can be tricky if the original video has camera movement. Nice work!
@north path This looks excellent! The sky adds a lot of interest and the masking around the trees looks great. The reflection of the sky in the water really helps sell the effect. The color grading in this image really helps make it all look natural together, impressive work!
@winter tinsel Looking good! Nice job adding a bit of the warmth from the sunset into the reflection on the water. I like how you darkened down the image a bit to match the sky as well. Nicely done!
@shy bobcat Great sky for this image! The lighting and colors seem to match very nicely. The mask around all that detail is looking really great too. The only place I think it could use some refining in around the right middle side of the tower between some of the framing. If you wanted to try and push it any more I think the Refine Edge Brush tool might do a good job with that area. Looking good!
@neat shale Excellent idea with this challenge! I love how far you pushed the color for these to make them fit with the sky. It works really well for the split image showing them all together for a great contrasted look. Really nice range of colors and times of day with this idea. Very cool!
@pliant comet Ooh, I love this photo. That dramatic sky works really well with this particular shot, and the coloration of the environment seems to fit with it very naturally. It would be interesting to see the "before" image to see how much of a difference it made. Great colors!
@bleak fossil Thank you for your feedback, I have replaced the sky again as I am working on my laptop now and the colour is quite different than my desktop but I think I have solved the problem. I will now upload it into Behance.

@north path : Great job. I really love how you replaced the sky and your reflection is well done! Great picture improvement!
@chilly hawk : your pattern is so beautiful! I love how you mixed colors and used different butterflies. It makes it pop! Nicely done!
@left abyss : Oh!!! I love your 2 versions! Gif one is really well done. Your jpeg version is spectacular. Love the dramatic starry sky fitting well with the dark foreground. It gives a nice backlight effect! Great job!
@jaunty valve : Awesome! Love how you removed the building on the right and how you adjusted colors of the main building. Your choice of replacement sky is really good: Blue of the sky gives a nice contrast with red of buiding! To nitpick: you could work on buildding reflection, we see clouds but there is no clouds in your new sky :)... But I really nitpick😉 . Impressive work!!!
@ruby panther : Great job on this one! I don't know if it's you or neural filters but I love how highlights of your buiding were adjusted to match with sky ones! Great improvement!

Catching up Day 1 Refine a portrait,
I cannot upload the gif version of the sky replacement, it keeps telling me that the file is too big, I don´t get to make smaller, can somebody tell me how to save that timeline file, please?
@dusky swallow : your gif must be less than 8MB, you could reduce the dimensions of your file in the "Save for web" panel. Sometimes you don't have another choice to make a choice than reduce quality or size to get a lighter file. What is your original image dimension?

@safe linden : Your milky way scene is just AWESOME! I love the overall image feeling. The light glow along the horizon line is really cool and light coming out the shack adds a great focal point. To nitpick (very very nitpick) you could add a subtle light reflection on the ground below the window... (it could add realism)... Anyway: Great job!
@wary swan thanks mate!
Gave +1 Creative Carma to @wary swan
@deep mango Really great job on both the still Day 3 challenge as well as the animated one! It always adds a ton of life to see these designs in motion. I really like how you gave the still image a red tint from the sky to make them fit together. If you wanted to push the animated one even further I feel like a bit of light bleeding over the top of the trees might match the intense lighting of part of the sky a touch more. It's subtle, but maybe something like this? I like to use a color dodge layer with a clipping mask for this effect oftentimes.

Thanks @bleak fossil, that's a great Idea, I'll work on it 🙂

@bleak fossil I usually do a side by side for composites, dont know why I didn't for this - so here are the component images with the composite. 🙂 I used sky replacement, flipped a copy of the sky for water reflection, and added a LUT and a touch of photo filter to the whole thing. 🙂
@pliant comet Oooh, very nice! Definitely a huge difference. 👍

Hey guys, I have a problem with today's video. I'm trying to access it, but Behance said that the video is private and unavailable. Does any of you have a similar problem?
@zenith mulch - yes , there was a problem with the live feed

@bleak fossil I made the suggested improvements to my animated gif 🙂

Moving sky - Curious to know how to put moving cloud reflection on water!
when will the stream for todays challenge be available on the YouTube? plz send the link here
@spare badge I believe Jesus was showing how to do it yesterday around the end of the stream
@deep mango Yes, but I m looking for the moving clouds reflection. The way @dusky swallow did it.
Oh yes, that's really interesting @spare badge 🙂 My guess is copy/paste the moving sky, then flipping it vertical and applying some Blending mode but @dusky swallow could tell us better 🙂
@deep mango , I think you are right. 👍 Will try! Thanks for the idea!

@bleak fossil Thank you for the answer, I tried to watch it on youtube but it get interrupted after few minutes....
@simple idol Very cool! Great to see you running with this challenge. I really like the variety in colors and styles with all the different designs. The mockup looks great too, really convincing look to it. Very nice contrast against the background too. Great job!
@weary palm Hah, this is perfect. I love the clean graphic shapes and the wat you added a few different shades to get some really nice depth. Really solid style to this. I could definitely picture this being on different objects you could buy in stores. Really nice design!
@spare badge Oooh, this looks great! The sky seems to fit perfectly with the lighting and color of the scene and adds a really cool look to it. To get the reflection effect in the water you'd have to duplicate the sky, flip it, and mask out the all the rocks and area above the horizon line, and then just lower the opacity until you get a realistic look you like. You could also play around with the blending mode to see what looks best. Great work!
@bleak fossil thank you very much!

@wet thistle Great effect with this Neural Filter challenge! I love the effect you got with the hair with the streaks of grey, it looks really nicely blended with the original hair. Everything is blended very cleanly together to give the whole thing a natural, cohesive look. Nicely done!
@dusky wave Really cool take on this challenge with the Day 2 design! The fireworks are a nice touch. The sky replacement effect is looking really solid too. The only suggestion I'd have would be to give the fireworks a bit of a glow around them to make them look a bit more like they're emitting light. You could do this with an Outer Glow layer effect, or something like a screen or color dodge layer with a soft brush. Looks good!
@lucid plover Hah, excellent job, nicely done! I really like how the background gradient and the darker shapes on the banana add some nice depth. 👍
Thank you @bleak fossil for your feedback! Got jesus video on YouTube about reflection. Will try to rework on this GIF.

@spare badge you said about the reflection on the water, Jesus explains it at the end of the replace sky challenge video, as @deep mango said you copy the sky video file and flip it then give a black mask and brush in the areas where you want it to be seen.. Hope it helps.
Thank you @dusky swallow ! Now, it's very clear, what have to do. Thanks!👍

Sorry for the late upload! This was just a bit of freehand with the brush tool, but I thought the black background kind of made it look like bowling alley carpet or something! My creative challenge pattern
@simple idol : Great set of patterns. Great idea to present them on mockups! Colorful and subtle... I love them!!!
Your sky replacement is impressive. Well done and sky chosen and color grading fit well with this autumn picture. Nicely done!
@spare badge your animated reflection version is awesome. The only disturbing point is at the end of your animation (I think) there is a long moment where sky stop andthe reflection is still moving... Apart from that, everything's fine
@chilly hawk Impressive animation of your sky replacement. I love the still version with the lightning, the mask adjustment is very good : no crispy edges or glowing effect around the branches. Great job!

Before in a video
After sky replacement
I'm wondering if it still can be kept as video format. I tried , but it seems not work on the timeline.
I don't know exactly what logo we have to do, but here is my work with banana
Day 4: I did the best I could with the banana and no video. Body part images from Pixabay
@forest aspen Nicely done! I like the depth on the shapes at the top. It could be nice to give the banana a hard lined darker shape to act as the shadow instead of the soft one it has now. It might fit the style of the top shapes a bit more. Just an idea of course. Nice job putting all these elements together, I like what you did with the text too. Looks good!
@queen aspen Hah, great effects in this design! I like how far you pushed the logo design idea in this one. The glowing effect of the blue shape gives an interesting sort of neon sign effect. I feel like perhaps the text could read better at a glance by adjusting the contrast, but not sure what might help that the most. Perhaps a subtle outer glow? Nice work!
@tropic haven These are looking great! They really transform the look and feel of each image. I especially like the colors and lighting of the hut with the pink clouds. It looks like your mask could be cleaned up a bit in the bridge image to remove the ghosting above the bridge, and the masking could be touched up on the door on the building that seems to be masked out a bit. Well done!
@vague harbor The pattern is looking good, it has some nice contrast of the leaves against the background. The shadow effect under the leaves adds some nice depth too. The orientation variation of the leaves gives the whole pattern a nice natural feel to it too. Great work!
@outer fable The sky replacement is looking great, nice job with the masking! The color grading of the landscape fits in really well with the sky too. My only suggestion would be to maybe lighten the lower part of the sky where it meets the land a bit so that the tree on the left side isn't lost so much. Currently the value of the tree and sky are so close they blend together a bit. Looking good!
Design a Logo
@whole flame I like how you blended the skies a bit by keeping the sun, but just enhancing the sunset and clouds. It adds a great mood and feel to the image, and the color tinting of the landscape really helps them fit together. Really nice work!
@covert loom Nice job with the logo, I like how you combined it with the pattern challenge! The color scheme fits together nicely and has a good cohesive look to it 👍

Day 4. Did the best I could without the video. I hope Jesue is okay and will be back Monday.
Day 4 Design a logo
I'm not sure what Jesus had in mind for this challenge, but here's my logo.
I'm catching up on the Sky Replacement - I used the original provided and did a sunset version and a night version. Thanks to @jolly quest for the window glow skills! The night version I spent a lot of time working on the foreground adjustments; do you think it looks realistic?
Gave +1 Creative Carma to @jolly quest
Sky Replacement continued. I also tried both of the methods Jesus showed for working with videos.
1- used this Paris video and replaced sky. It was tricky because I didn't realize it was a time lapse of the sunset, so the sky layer was different in the beginning and end of video. PS masked the sky at the beginning of the video, so I had the glow around where the sun had been and some lense flare left. (I didn't realize until after I had done lots of work adjusting) After I replaced the sky it didn't look quite right so I tried to create a sun in place of it. I think it turned out ok? I do really like how the foreground color adj and reflection is looking.
Edit- so I guess the question is, when you create a smart object from org video and use sky replace, does PS sense that and just use the light/color information from one spot on the video? Like the original video is a sunset timelapse and gets dark at the end once the sun sets; but my video keeps the light as per the original video start throughout the whole thing.
Final video. I guess my lesson was that working with a time lapse video where the lighting and sky changes very noticeably (like this sunset) is a bit tricky.
Sky Replace video 2 - Now I tried a still image and adding a video sky. This was much simpler.
Day 4 Modification to logo per suggestions. Thanks @bleak fossil

This is for CC2 pattern. To get this far - off an ancient mosaic floor that had been found with earthquake damage so it was warped; i had to duplicate then manually flip to make the cross shape as good as could; and then hide the rest of the damaged pattern with patching ( learnt a bit more about that ! ) .. also went and found Wacom pen and pad thanks to Jesús pointing out he was using one !
@fluid wharf Hah, great work with all these shapes! I like the bright color scheme you have going on with this design. Nice work 👍
@young karma Nice job! These designs are looking really good. You got some really interesting effects with the portrait, cool to see how much it transformed the look. My only suggestion might be smoothing out some of the texture in the jaw area (maybe with a spot healing brush?) since it no longer really appears to be a facial hair texture. The patterns are looking great! Really nice color and style variation between them, and the dog pattern was a nice touch, hah. Nicely done!
thank you Sam for feedback
@spark ledge Awesome job on all these challenges! The masking and sky replacement are all looking really solid, and I like how you played around with different designs and both still images as well as videos. Very nice job getting the color grading of the landscape to match, and the glowing window of the night image is a great touch. Impressive work!
@compact pecan Hah, perfect. I'm curious if he'll recap the missed challenge, but this is looking good. I like the contrast of the blue text and the textured background adds some nice interest 👍
@peak sentinel Nicely done! I like the clear contrast between the background and banana. This is totally personal preference, but I think this image could be a good opportunity to choose a dark purple gray for the shadow to give it some color contrast against the yellow, and maybe lighten the shadow just a touch so as to not compete for visual attention too much. It could even be nice to make the text a slightly off-black, dark purple instead of 100% black too. Just a thought, looks good!
@onyx field Really cool idea for a pattern design! And very nice, tablets can definitely be really helpful for any freehand work. They take some getting used to at first but once it sets in they're super nice to use. Did you try duplicating this pattern to see how it looks repeated? Nice work!

@bleak fossil thanks for feedback Sam : yes I used pattern preview to see that there was no way i could use anything but the cross in the middle - what with my limited ability with patch tools etc but this is the place to overcome that lack ! here is what the repeated pattern looks like ... thanks again !
Playing a little game of catch up here, this is my sky replacement! I also did a bit of color matching on the foreground with a gradient map.
Sky replacement
DCC Day 4,Logo Design
I chose a free adobe stock starry sky photo to replace the sky then used the adobe stock photo foreground ( very Friedrich ! ) with a sky from photoshop's givens
No Logo - Just Bananas !!! ... for now ( the black one is using Adobe Capture on one here that needs eating asap ) and I think I've forgotten how to make the banana in tools bar that was weeks back 🤨 ( PS : only just found 7.35 minutes of Friday's CC on https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UilURG2YzLs ) ie even though it wasn't on Behance
@obtuse breach : Great job! Your sky replacement is really well done and the color grading of the foreground match perfectly with the dramatic sky. Nicely done!
@onyx field : Great sky replacement! For last friday stream I think Jesus had a massive technical issue... If we are lucky he will post a replay as soon as possible or maybe he will make a "two for one" performance today 🥵 ... We will see. Anyway, Great job!
@coral cloak : Great job on your sky replacement. Love sunset tones and how you chosen a sky matching with the original sun burst. To nitpick you could crop your image differently ... Maybe you could use "crop tool" set to "Golden Ratio" to visualize "Power lines" (I don't know the real name of these guides)... Usually when the horizon line is aligned on one of these line your image looks better. Use the top or bottom one depending on which part of the image you want to highlight the most. I think it's worth a try. It's just an idea...Anyway you did a great job on this one!
Is it just me or did the last challenge video not work for anyone else for the design logo? It won't let me view it.
@queen geode I think Jesus had a technical issue last friday. I'm pretty sure that video doesn't work for everyone... It's not just you.
We probably will have more infos this morning.
Having waited desperately for a replay I finally decided to make a logo without guidelines ... I did not place the banana icon in my toolbar but the "Banana Crew" theme inspired me.

Today's background challenge! 🙂
Why, yes, we have bicycled up Mount Washington. Here is the "proof."
Originals used in the replace background challenge. I was almost done when I realized the original location was reflected in my wife's sunglasses, so I grabbed another image from the Mount Washington trip to replace that reflection. Fun stuff.

Today's Challenge
I tried one with a little more challenge with masking and matching the background.
My colleague wanted to be on a nice background, so I had a little project. This challenge with changing of the background was a moment to do it. Well, here is the final image - I don't know but maybe the colors aren't matching so good?

Design a Logo Day 4
@obtuse breach Very nice job on the sky replacement! The sky adds a great dramatic effect and the color grading of the landscape makes them fit together nicely as well as giving it a bit of a cool stylized look. My only suggestion would be to maybe clean up the mask near the horizon line of the ocean. We see the ocean in the middle but it looks like it gets covered by the sky on the right side which confuses the image a bit. If you mean it out so we can see the ocean, or cover the ocean completely it might look more natural. Nice work!
@sweet fern Really nice job with the masking! It's looking really good around the hair and fur of the coat. My only suggestion would be that I think you could brighten the portrait a little bit to give her a bit more pop against the background. Even with that darker lighting of the environment I think she'd still have a bit more light on her. Nice job with the color grading too!
Change the background challenge - two original photos and the final composite. Not sure if the lighting on the face is still 100%...
@zenith mulch Really nice job with the color grading in this Day 5 challenge! The portrait fits in with the color and lighting of the background quite nicely. My only suggestion is that the masking around the hair/fur coat looks a bit rough. I'm not sure if you used the Refine Edge Brush tool and/or the Refine Hair button like Jesus did in the video but that can often help quite a bit to get a more natural edge with hair and capture the smaller strands and softer edges. Looks good!
@whole flame Super cool, loving the style on this! I kind of get a fancy masquerade party type of vibe from it. The music sheet texture is definitely an interesting touch as well. I feel like maybe the whole design could use a bit of a levels adjustment to boost the brights a little? Looking good!
@coral mason Ooh, awesome effect with this sky replacement image! I love the colors it creates and it works really well with the reflection in the water. It gives the whole image a really sort of magical look to it. Nice work with the masking!
@safe ledge Nice job, the environment change makes for a dramatic sort of cinematic look! The only thing I notice is the adjustment you made on the dog makes the orange/tan parts of the legs look a bit unnaturally vibrant. I think desaturating them a bit to more closely match the original photo would look good. Well done!
@safe linden Logo is looking solid! I like the simple color scheme you created for this design, it gives it a really clear read. Nicely done!
@wary swan Very cool! That's a really interesting environment to composite the figure in to, I like it. I'd suggest maybe moving the figure to the right a touch closer to the wall so he looks more grounded on where he's standing, darkening him down a touch and maybe even adding a subtle cooling Photo Filter to match the lighting of the scene, and either removing on stick on the very left with Content Aware Fill or darkening it down a bit to not be so distracting. Just some ideas of course. Nice job!
@magic wagon I didn't think this was a place to air political views and I did not appreciate you bashing our president by putting a grey sky behind him with a rainbow behind the old guy new president. photoshop you should not allow political or other commentary here. Not fair. Please take it down.
Challenge #5 Revised (Background image is by Frederico Di Dio on UnSplash.) I painted in my girls hair around the original selection. Looks at bit better.
@bleak fossil thank you. I was working in FR and had painted in as part of another photo, the dobies legs. so thats why it's a bit different. I used that image for a t shirt design and just copied it over. the original dobie photo would not be as viberant.

@unkempt field : Great logo and very good idea to place it on a mug...Maybe you should reduce the size of your logo just a bit. I like how you distorted your logo to match with the mug shape. Well done.!

@safe ledge Hah, you can definitely get some really interesting effects with all the options Neural Filters has. Nice job with these effects! It looks like it worked pretty well for this portrait. The only thing that seems a bit off is the inner part of the eye on the right hand side. I think maybe masking out the effect a bit where the white of the eye meets the corner of the eye might look a bit more natural. Nice work!
@young karma These images work perfectly together! Excellent job on the masking of the hair and fur coat on the portrait image. The accent of red on the bird is a great touch. Looking good!
@eternal mica The compositing is looking good on the second post! Very nice job on the masking, especially around the hair. The images are fitting together quite nicely 👍
@winter tinsel Really nice job on matching the color grading and lighting of these two images! The warm lighting on her face seems to fit quite nicely. Did you try using the Refine Edge Brush tool and/or the Refine Hair button like Jesus did? That usually does a great job of cleaning up and maintaining soft edges around hair and fur. Looking good!
@queen aspen Really great job with both the masking and color grading in these images! They fit into the background images very nicely and the lighting is looking solid on both. The direction of the lighting on the warm lighting portrait works perfectly too. I think the cool lighting image looks great, I kind of like the warmth of the skin. If you still feel like it looks off you could try cooling down the colors even more, or even try desaturating them slightly. It might make it fit the background image a little more. Very nice work!
@onyx field Very nice work with the masking on the portrait image! The hair and fur is looking great. The lighting of the environment matches the portrait really nicely as well. Looks nice and natural 👍

@pliant comet Hah, very nice, super cute cat picture. Really nice work getting a clean edge with all the cat fur. My only suggestion would be to lighten up the dark shadow on the right side to match the chair a bit more to the bright light we're seeing on the cat. It might fit the two images together a bit more, though I do like the contrast. Nice work!
@chilly hawk Hah, very nice, I like how you created a little character with this design. The text style and background star burst are a really nice addition. I wonder if the black text might look good as a really dark blue rather than 100% black to keep that sort of yellow/blue color scheme throughout? Great work!
Day 5 - Change Background version 2. Removed the stick and ad a blue photo filter and moved near the stone wall and adjusted the proposition on my selfie. Now I do not obscure the main motif which is the snow. The picture could have been cropped but then I had lost the clouds that run over the mountain ridge 😃 🇸🇪

Well done @onyx field ! your logo looks like a smiley...it puts me in a good mood to start my day. Great job!
@ruby panther : your background replacement image is great! I think the "HDR" nightshot is the bigger root cause of your struggeling. As light is really important to make a composite image looks realistic I think it's very difficult to match HDR images with "standard" pictures. Great work!

@bleak fossil Thanks, Welcome back!
2nd attempt @ Design a Logo 😆 👍
So cute @dusky wave. Your bear is awesome! Bold colors really pop! Just to nitpick you maybe could align vertically the word "CREW" in rectangle.
I'm curious: did you try to color the heart with redish color? The contrast with other colors could be interesting (or not🤔 )... Anyway: Great Badge!
@pliant comet : your background replacement is really cool. I love how you recreated the fur on the right side, how you added the shadow on the sofa. There is still some contamination on the left side of the head but the fur is really difficult to isolate even with the new filters. Impressive job!!!

@safe linden great work on the composite! I love how you create that overall color grading and create that purple-ish look and also love the font on "THE HOOLIGANS" too
Interesting....
If I might suggest you make the transition of the image a little bit longer, so it's not such a harsh line?
@pliant geyser I'll try.
Is the transition done with a gradient mask?
Masking wasn't very good when I enlarged it, hopefully better.
Yes, I have one image (young) clipped to the lower image (old) and painted the right half of clipped image white. i just used a soft edge brush to fade it at the edge.
I can switch it to a gradient mask

Day 6: fictional band's live album
@pliant geyser
@eternal mica I like that a bit more.... now, What if you can make the transition go as long as the space between his eyes? Might not be possible without manually repositioning one of their mouths a bit...
@whole flame Definitely the red one. Looks much more rich.
yea i thought the same but i like also the blue colors ^^
ups
i deleted the wrong one
@pliant geyser Ive been using the nose as sort of the boundary. Ill see how it looks playing with the eye transition more
@Majesty. Take it with a grain of salt, but... The blue is OK, but it doesn't appear to be as sharp, and anything in and around his nose/mouth and hand appears blurry to me...
@whole flame I like the red a lot better. It has a modern yet retro look
Here are my source files.... and a Gold Star Unicorn to anyone who recognizes the band...
And my final piece.... I tried to keep it in a similar vein of what the band's album covers look like.
@pliant geyser revised as suggested
Maybe a bit over the top.
@sweet fern. What if you take the original image, place it on top and play with the blending modes a bit? Think that might help... But overall pretty decent.
Album cover challenge 😄
@whole flame : Your orange/red cover is really Awesome! Love the shapes around your design and the sunglasses in the middle of the vinyl. The white frame around your design adds a nice classic touch. Your blue version is nice too. Well done!
@hollow yarrow thank you 😉
Gave +1 Creative Carma to @hollow yarrow
Great idea @pliant geyser! I tried with the original on top and below. Since I wanted to stay with an edgier look, I left the original below and played with the opacity of the top layer. This is what I came up with on a second try - Hard Mix at 44%. This is fairly new to me so I don't always think through all the possibilities.

@forest furnace : love your Bana!. A little bit outside of the box but really refreshing. I like the contrast given by the red shape, the patterns inside and the overall childish feeling that emerges from your logo. Really nice!
@magic wagon : a blue banana? Weird idea🤪 ! Never too late! I like how you added depth with banana poping out the circle and different colors shades. Adding your patterns on the background is a brilliant idea. Well done!
@fluid kettle : Your Mamacita CD Cover is simply awesome! There is an interesting overall aerial feeling in your collage. Love your "pattern clipping" on the clothes and the floral composition on the head. Just one point (if you want to use it for a real CD cover) you probably should leave more free space between your text and the edge of you picture... (Your "M" is very close to the edge) Great cover ! What is the musical style of "Mamacita"?👍

sky replacement challenge
@shrewd notch This looks great, loving the animated sky! The masking is looking really solid and the lighting and color of both elements match very well 👍
@shadow glade Great colors! The blue and orange scheme gives it a really nice unity and the green background makes for some great contrast while still looking very cohesive. I definitely get a sort of polo shirt/clothing vibe from this, hah. The triangle border is working really well. Nicely done!
@shrewd notch I like the colors and increased saturation of this Day 5 challenge! This one definitely has some tricky edges with the hair, nice job capturing the fly away strands on the top right. I feel like the left side could use a bit of refinement with the Refine Edge Brush tool and/or the Refine Hair button if you didn't already try those. They're great for hair and more complex edges. Nice work!
@pliant comet Hah, very nice. The classic cat/banana combo. Nice work with the shadow and sort of metallic texture on this design. I like the bit of texture you added on the banana too. 👍
Album Cover Challenge
@mighty linden Really interesting style with this design. I like the sort of abstracted visuals these images create. The radiating lines from the center seem to fit nicely with the text warp effect. Nice job!
@neat shale This is great, hah, loving the style. The color scheme works really well and I think the halftone texture is a very nice touch!
@digital pike The sort of painterly look is looking really good and contrasts very nicely with the smoother texture of the text. Nice color contrast too between the cool and warm tones 👍
@lucid plover Very nice effects here! I love the texture and wispiness you got in the smoky effect, and the glow does a great job making it look sort of magical while giving it some really nice contrast. The mockup is a nice touch as well. Looking good!

@bold valley The colors and style of the are looking great! It definitely gives it a bold energetic look. Really nice job with the text effect as well.
@safe linden Hah, great idea for an album cover! The coloration matches nicely between the figures and background. The only suggestions I'd have would be to clean up the masks around the figures where white is still showing, mainly on near the arms of the figure on the right and the head of the middle background figure. It might also look good to give the figures a slightly contrast boost to make them pop a touch more. Just some ideas of course. Looks good!
@stark palm The album cover is looking great! I love how you added the back of the cover with the songs and fit in the same sort of texture and color palette. They look great and the texture along with the bold pink and yellow gives the whole design a great cohesive feel. I like the font choice too 😄

Challenge 4 - Design a Logo
@young karma : Wow! your "KISS" album cover is really well done. Love the overall "early 80's" feeling, the texture, the bold line around foreground elements and filters chosen for the background had made their job. To nitpick (if I can) you should try to blend subbtly your text with the rest of your design... Not obvious but in full size they look very "clean" compared to the rest of the picture (so much things you could try: blend if, blending modes, texture applied over ... )... I know, I know: easy to say not easy to do... I'm so sorry... But don't worry your cover still Awesome!!!!
@left abyss : Your "toucan dog" is really great and funny! You did a great masking job particularly on fur. Great idea to place the front wing over the bowl. It adds depth. The only suggestions I'd have would be to clean the original package because we can see some parts of the original Toucan (on the back of your dog and under its head) . It might also be worth trying to simulate the same print texture of the original packaging on your dog image (maybe by playing with settings of Filter > Pixelate > Color Halftone) Of course it's just nitpick suggestions. Your packaging is awesome!👌

@magic wagon yes...I like the tone of the skin.
I couldn't do more than that with the tools that I have. I had to take a picture of a photo with my phone - maybe I just don't know how to do it. The neuro filters didn't help so much in this case, unfortunately.
...it was fun, but I feel I could "beef" it up a bit. thoughts? It simply doesn't pop the way I'd like...
@vague shuttle thinking that the banana type is receding back and it would 'pop' more if it looked more as if added depth ie standing out ?
This is the original. This photo is about 35+ years old. It was so exciting to take a picture - you never know what to expect in the result. And the process of developing the real image also was amazing... if you understand what I mean.
@hollow yarrow Thanks for the suggestions, I just might work on that. The whole process was so much fun, even the costume making and training him to happily wear that beak!

Here's my change background.
@magic wagon Really cool effect with the colors in this one! I like how much the yellow of the hair frames the face, and also echoes the yellow from the title at the bottom. The mockup is looking great too! Though I'd try creating a bit of a lighting/shadow gradient across the CD to give it a bit more of a realistic look. You could even do this with the cover to make it look like it's behind the plastic of the CD case. Maybe something like this? Great work!
(For best quality click the image then click "Open Original".)
@vague shuttle Hah, I like it. I'm really liking the background pattern, and I feel like the yellow, white, and blue color scheme is working great. The blue creates a lot of great contrast. I like how the shadow you added on the banana adds some nice depth, perhaps echoing that look in the text in the form of a drop shadow might give the whole thing some more pop while fitting the look of it all together a bit more? I feel like I could imagine seeing this on an actual product or something in a grocery stroke, very nice!
@neat shale The stylized effect is looking great on this! I love the way the lighting from the right looks here, and the red makes for some nice color contrast. I might be worth trying to boost the brightness on the skin or the whole figure a bit, since currently the guitar seems to be drawing the most contrast with both value and saturation. Just a thought. This is coming along nicely!
@young karma This is looking awesome! Really great seamless compositing of all these images, and I love how well you fit all the background images together in a cohesive stylized way. That along with the lower contrast really allow the foreground image of the band to pop. My only minor thought is I feel like the Kiss text could be a bit brighter to stand out a bit more, but that's just personal preference. Impressive work!
@ruby panther Ah, very interesting! Was the red generated from Photoshop or was that picked manually by you? It's interesting to see how the Colorize filter interprets different images. The really monochromatic look has a slight retro feel to it, I think due to the coloration of the shadows. Nice job!

@bleak fossil Thanks Sam -- I have another version of the album posted earlier in the feed with the KISS title brighter but there was a suggestion to tone it down some.. guess I over did it.
my dad after colorized
my dad before colorized - i'm just beginning to get into this fun stuff! thank you for the challenges. My time was up on editing these colors. So it just has to be good enough. 🙂
PSDCC with Jesús Ramirez Day 7 - Colorize a Photo
I bet you thought I wouldn't be able to find an historical photo with a cat in it.
Here's my album cover. Today's challenge is next...whew!
had to go for another go it was so entertaining during a long work day. PCC album redux...
Day 6: Album cover. I didn't care for any of the neural filter options, so I stayed with my original art. Running behind yesterday & today. Tomorrow looks worse
Super TY for the as-always constructive feedback @bleak fossil here's the updated banana...

Challenge 6 - Album Cover
Had to remove the hidden girl’s arm and face, because the picture was confusing. After colorizing it was more noticeable. Made the middle girl a red head. If you look closely you can see the girl whose arm I remove face in her hair.

Colorize Photo Challenge #7
Challenge 07. Colorized with the Neural Filter, I feel like I could be doing this all day, it's so easy and magical...by the way this is my sister and cousin as children, many years ago 🙂
Colorizing. I went overboard but just wanted to. The Neural filter got me started, and then I used color blended layers to add more color.

A more subtle background
@dusky wave Really nicely done! That's awesome that you were able to do this with your own photo. Everything seems to have a nice cohesive look to it and fit together nicely. The skin tones are looking great too, nice job!
@lucid plover Looking good! The more vibrant colors definitely give it a bit more of a modern feel. I like the vibrancy of the eyes especially to get them to draw a lot of attention. This is a super minor nitpick but there does seem to be a couple blue splotches that look a bit out of place on the left side of the forehead and on the right/top where the hair meets the head. Really nice work!
@safe linden Good tip! I could see that being an issue some people run into. This is looking great by the way, everything seems to have a really nice and natural looking coloration to it. My only thought is it looks like the sky on the left side could use a little more blue coverage as there seems to be a bit of splotchy gray areas. And some of the hands seem to still have a bit of gray coloration here and there. Very nice job with this image!
thank you @bleak fossil

@young karma This is great! Always awesome to see people using their own photos for this challenge. The coloration has a nice natural look to it. My only suggestion might be to tweak the coloration slightly in their eyebrows, their eyes/iris, and maybe even in the lips a bit just to get a bit more of a realistic color variation across the face. Nicely done!
Challenge #7 Colorize a Photo (My original photo is by Ali Arif Soydas on UnSplash.)
@digital pike Looking good Gerard! Nice job with the coloration in the face between the skin tone, eyebrow/facial hair, teeth, and eyes. It all has a great realistic look to it. The uniform is looking very nice too. Though I think perhaps the aiguillette (rope/cord on the shoulder on the right) would have a different color than the rest of the uniform. I read online that "The cord colors are gold for the Army, silver for the Air Force, and gold and blue for the Coast Guard, Navy and NOAA Commissioned Officer Corps." Nice work!
@dusky swallow Looking good! I really like the color contrast between the singer and text against the background. The dark contrast on the singer really helps him pop too. Cool effect!
@kindred gate Very nice! So the original image already had a bit of coloration to it? The after image definitely is a great improvement. The skin tones look a lot more natural and the whole image pops a lot more with a more realistic look of it. Very nice job getting variation in color around the eyebrows, eyes, and lips. Great work!
@spare badge This is looking great! There's some really nice contrast between the landscape and the girl. Her warmer tones, especially the face do a nice job of contrasting against the background. Really nice job with the color variation between the different areas of the face such as the eyes and lips. The only minor nitpick I'd point out is that the ear looks a bit more desaturated than the rest of the face. Maybe adding a bit of red into it would look good? Well done!
@sterile dagger Nice job, this is definitely an ambitious image with so many people! Nice job with all the different faces and colors of clothing. One suggestion might be to even out the coloration of the background to avoid the sort of streaks of red we're currently seeing. It might give it a more natural look. 👍

@bleak fossil thank you for the feedback!!! that's actually a good idea, the style i picked even tho it was my fave i hated how it made the skin like sooooooo bright and pale compared to the original so i will have to fix that.
Hello! Colorize Photo Challenge_Before & After
My mom Colorize Photo Challenge
Another quick one but the photo quality was really lacking, still fun nonetheless.😀
@bleak fossil Thank you Sam, I was very happy with the skin too, it's so amazing what it can do 🙂

@bleak fossil Yes Peter, it is a hand-colored photograph, method used all the way until the 1980s in many countries, where color film was rare or expensive, or where color processing was unavailable 🎨 🙂
