@paper chasm love the bottle!
@young karma answered you on #❓ask-a-question 🙂
@gaunt geyser looks very good, you might give the plastic bags (the farther away ones) some subtle gaussian blur it will bring a depth of field to you work. Great job, Liam 🙂
Day 2: Blend images. I can't decide which image backdrop goes better with my ballerina (AdobeStock) with magnolia blossom (pixabay) tutu. The Fairy Toadstools (Pixabay) on the stage (Bittbox)?
Or the deep forest (Pixabay)?
@forest aspen the forest is the way to go!
@young karma Thanks
@young karma that’s what I call a dramatic effect hahaa! Very well done 😄 One thing that you can do is give a brighter tone to the text, you can pick a tone from the bright places on the surface and maybe remove or reduce the drop shadow 😉
@floral frigate very creative work. I loved the colorful text matching the LEGO, nice blending as well 😄
This was fun, and very challenging, but I am glad to learn...
@shadow mural I like the green tones on your day 1, looks like a neon effect, well done!
@obtuse topaz Loved how you added a sea environment to your work, great job!
I tried a second time. This time i was able to have more texture😄
Went a tad off the reservation but trying to actually follow through on this PSDCC for once. 🤪
@coral stone thank you 😊😊

@pastel spade That looks great!
Thanks @quaint badge !

@modern halo Love the contrast. Maybe try leaving the part above the water the way it is and lighten the water a bit so it's easier to see - just a suggestion.
@paper chasm Love the one in the bottle - well done!
@prime haven love the polar bear addition 🧸
Hi Everyone here is my attempt on this challenge!!😆
My Day 2 Iceberg
@pastel spade Off the reservation?
Second day's challenge😃
day-02
Nice one @eternal mica! I loved the sky replacement. If you want to play with color effects you can add a gradient map, color lookup or a photo filter adjustment layers 😀
@tacit condor haha loved the names and the effects as well, good job!
What a beautiful work, @balmy summit! I loved it 💙
Good job on your day 1 @daring dock! My only suggestion is that you might brighten the model so she can pop from the background. If the colors look a little faded you can increase the contrast. Very nice colors choice 🎨
@manic edge awesome work, I loved it 💯
@cerulean steppe Nice effects! I like the way that the colors created a drawing effect on your selfie. Well done!
@coral stone Valdair Leonardo Thanks for the critique. I ended up almost completely starting over, so I just tried to simplify it and I think this one works a little better than 1st entry.
Gave +1 Creative Carma to @coral stone
@coral stone Valdair, thank you so much. Would you play with those on the sky layer or the whole image?
Gave +1 Creative Carma to @coral stone
@coral stone Valdair, thank you so much. Would you play with those on the sky layer or the whole image?
@eternal mica you can use on the whole image. These adjustment layers can be a very handy technique to unify the colors on a image and give a mood to it. There are a lot of them that you can play and try 🙂
@coral stone OK, here I go ..........
@manic edge Magical piece. The colors are blended beautifully, the images fit the colors. Such a serene look to it
@eternal mica awww thank you 😋
@eternal mica have fun 😀
#1- I like that the top image melts into the background bit, but is it too much?
My take!
it sounds cool
My attempt on Challenge 2. I was inspired by Kehinde Wiley
Spooky!
Wow, I went crazy looking at all the options. I think this color lookup changes the whole feel of the image away from the natural and adds to the sense of pollution by highlighting the plastic bag much more and changing the water color to amber. Weird but fun.
Thanks again @bleak fossil Challenge #2 A little less radioactive than the first version
Gave +1 Creative Carma to @bleak fossil
This took me all day. Any suggestions or pro tips are greatly appreciated.
Hello! Blending Challenge. Same image just altered.
@desert raven It looks phenomenal. It took you all day this time. It gets easier and faster with practice. Just stay at it. 👍
First time for everything.
These challenges are so original.
Wish I could spend more time but I learned so much doing this! So impressed looking through everyone's work!!! Really Nice guys!
Hey everyone, when Paul shows us that pressing the alt key on a windows or option key on a mac can give us straight lines with the selection tool, nothing happens on my end. I am on a Macbook Pro running Catalina. Does anyone here know how to make it work? ... I tried pressing almost every key on my laptop and nothing did it!
i couldn't get the straight line trick to work either. I'm on windows 10.
Day 2 - Blending Images
Day 2 done!
Blend Challenge
Challenge 1
Challenge 1 Selfies. One day behind... sorry...... How's it look?
Challenge 1 what you guys think?
@junior rapids Very cool! The color grading kind of makes the whole thing look more murky and polluted which fits the concept nicely. Really nice blending of the two photos, the under side of the iceberg almost kind of looks like melted plastic. Nice work on this 👍
@burnt shale Really interesting mix of images here! Getting into the surreal territory with the camel, hah. Cool concept with making the area underwater lighter. It might look nice to mirror the camel to the other side and increase it’s contrast a bit to have deeper darks. That might give the image some nice visual balance so it isn’t so heavy on the right side. Nice work!
@crystal stream Really nice contrast between the area above and below the water! The blend between the images is looking nice as well. It could look nice to throw a gradient on the bottom to darken the bottom of the design down a little to look more like deeper darker water and to darken down the brightest areas of the bottom of the back. Might help reinforce the feeling of the light coming through the surface of the water and getting darker as it gets deeper. Looks good!
@jagged jacinth Very cool! If this is your first challenge then welcome in! The blending of the two images is looking really nice and I like that look of the light rays coming through the water. Nicely done!
@chilly hawk Very cool, I really like the extra elements you added in this! A couple little suggestions I think might help would be to get rid of the subtle white outline around the whales. When you’re selecting you can go to “Select” at the top and expand or contract the selection, contracting it by 1-2 pixels might get rid of that outline. It could also look good to use something like a multiply layer on a clipping mask to darken down the whales ever so slightly, but mostly to give them more of a blue tint. That might make it look more like they’re underwater. Just some thoughts. Really nice work on this challenge!
@restive wyvern Ooh, really cool effect on this one! I like the texture you’re getting with it. I feel like I could see this being two parts to an animation where it morphs into that more psychedelic looking second image, hah. Very nice!
@cold oyster These are great! The eyes blending into the room beneath the house is a really interesting effect, the color adds a lot of drama to the image. Really liking the concept of the castle image too! It could be really cool to add a little bit of a pink tint on her hand, as if the lighting or image is just starting to affect her as she reaches into it. Good stuff!
@stable ravine Day 2 looks good! Really nice transition between the two images. Kind of cool how the bad sort of resembles a jellyfish as well!
@unkempt field Really cool to see the additional elements you added in this one! Nice job with the blending of the bad image as well. I think it could help to put a cooling filter or multiply layer with a light blue tone over the sea turtle to help it match the color of the dark blue water a bit more. The jellyfish are a really cool touch!
@twilit shore I really like the stylized effect on the right side! The background gradient does a nice job of adding to that stylized look too. I think the image on the left could maybe use a levels adjustment to boost the darks a touch, but I do like how the image on the right has more contrast and acts as a strong focal point. Looks good!
@raven condor Hah, Challenge 1 looks good! Interesting colors, and the text reads and contrasts really nicely against the background. The only suggestion I would have would be to get more of a visual hierarchy in terms of contrast. Currently each image has about the same level of contrast and visual focus. It might be nice if you increased the contrast on the center image and let the other two be slightly more faded. If anything the background portraits pull a bit more attention due to the green color and darker tones of the hair. The text contrasts really well, it could balance the image nicely if the center portrait pulled more contrast as well. Well done, loving the gradients on this!
Hey!! I'm a little late to the party! Here's my day 1. working on day 2 now.
A little late but here's my day 1 challenge ! 🙂
Challenge #2 Blending Images. Thoughts on the text and placement? Loose it altogether? 🤔
Challenge#2
When we had to do the daily challenge with our self portraits....I decided to do a special one. I call it "Pondering"
I directed myself for this portrait. "Keith....now gently stroke the beard while looking off into the great beyond." Me to me, "Am I doing this right?"
Day 2 -- went for a darker palette for a grimmer view of what might be in store for our planet.
#nasli I dig it.
@untold gust Great color!
Challenge 2. I added the people who need to stay at home.
@bleak fossil thank you for your comment and your suggestion, true I should put some shadow! I didnt think about that.

@bleak fossil Thank you. your input is always appreciated. I made the left hand picture pop a little more so it is as subdued.

Challenge 1 popping up the left guy just a bit for a better selfie
My submission for Blending Images Daily Challenge. I changed the bag for some plastic bottle. Don't know if that was allowed. 😐
My day2 of the challenge.. I think the hardest thing was realising my entire computer needed to update in order to use photoshop 2020 lol this was heaps of fun!
Tried playing with an invert of colours and quite liked how this turned out
Challenge 2, Spiny Liazardcat 😆
I heard that someone mentioned skulls during the livestream, which inspired me to do this.

I really like that @plush musk! Nice way to spice that up! 🙂

@terse dock nice selfies, I like how you faded the ones in the background, it helps to give the impression that they are way behind the front one!
@agile harness Impressive work! I loved your colors choice and the lines creates an interesting effect on the selfies 💯
@winter tinsel cool composition. My suggesttion is to place the text on the bottom part of the image, so the elements can appear clearly 🙂
@regal mica beautiful effect! I like the plastic bag overlapping the text. Nicely done!
@vale sandal good job! Loved the texture on the background! 🙂
@untold gust nice color palette. I like the drama mood it created for your image
@plush musk I loved the birds in the sky and the text has a nice tone and the overlap on the letter T looks great 😃
@nocturne shuttle woow the inverted colors created an interesting effect especially on the surface, nicely done!
@left abyss I loved your Liazardcat, awesome job 😄
@uneven flume very creative! Good job, Elle! 🙂
@inland kiln WOW! Impressive work, loved thow the mountain blended with the subject's hair, awesome job!
@covert loom nice effect, I like the cyan tones on the surface! Just a suggestion, you can add a little bit of the blue tone of the water on the top of the plastic bag and create a transition to the dark blue on the bottom. The splatters you added on the plastic bag looks great! 🙂
Cool work @swift folio! The icy feel looks really nice 💯
@tulip willow nice movie poster style! The yellow text contrasts really well against the cyan sky, good job!
@chilly ore Wow beautiful tone, the plastic bag has a nice neon effect with the color that you chose, I also like how it transmits a strong message. My only suggestion is that you might reduce the black vignette by brighten a little bit more the areas around the plastic bag.
@tacit condor Love coloured photos - look like Gamora (Star Lord comic/movie character) and Neytiri (Avatar movie)!
@calm bane The intensity of the colors that you used is really great! If you want, you can brighten just a little the plastic bag, so it will get more attention to your work. Well done, Nadia!
@young karma the text effects and blending looks amazing! I like the sensation that it transmits, also good job on the masks falling deep in the ocean. 🙂
@dim grailA That's a great portrait shot. Lighting really sets the mood. So well done.
@coral stonesure!thanks for your feedback
Challenge 1 - Spectacular Selfie
Thanks @bleak fossil. The darker one is a combination of my eyes, an abandoned lake house on a cliff and an abandoned wedding venue. I took your suggestion on the Peter Pan-ish one and added that little bit of pink light and I think it makes a big difference.
Gave +1 Creative Carma to @bleak fossil
@cold oyster I like your skully bulb one the most out of the 3 you posted - nice and smooth. The cheetah-woman ones appear to transition from cat to woman very abruptly. Almost like it was just a simple copy/paste with a feathered edge. Any way to smooth those out a bit? Maybe even try to bring the eyes of the third one so that they are at the same vertical height for added realism? Overall good stuff and keep up the good work!
@cold oyster My first thoughts were "Hey! That looks like the Disney castle!" Good work!
@coral stone Thanks for the feedback! I made some adjustments to the text to reflect your observations. I appreciate you taking time to review this. 😉
Gave +1 Creative Carma to @coral stone
ccd2--I could go on for days with this one..was just scratching the surface on it but wanted to post something.
@young karma Good work. The under water part looks absolutely filthy - well done! I wonder if you took an algae-green and added a bit to some of the darker areas.. maybe a darken or colour burn layer. The only thing that's a bit out of place is the font you chose - it's more of a happy good time style.. But overall, thumbs way up! 👍
day 1 Selfie, not easy at all in CS6 but ok this is the result 😉
Challenge Day 2: Blending Photos
@odd gull Nice concept and well done!
I added a telephone booth to a field of flowers! Changed levels/brightness of the booth to match the image and cut off the bottom so it blended more into the flowers but still feel like something is missing
Day 2 challenge
@fallow frigate It's missing either a Bobby or Dr. Who! 😆
Day 2 Challenge! I Battled to make the text legible while still keeping it within the image. I'd appreciate any suggestions on how i could do this better? 😀
Day 2 challenge
@covert gulch : I love the pink hue on the top 👌
challenge 2
Daily Challenge 4-28-20 - additional images from Pixabay and AdobeStock
Day II Challenge. My take on the plastic pollution. Also, good morning...or at least in Houston.
Decided to take it a step further so humanity can thank momma nature..
@hollow yarrow, what feedback can you give me for this?
Two kinds of disaster.............
Day 2. The lasso tool + option for a straight line that Paul mentioned does not seem to work
@mild spruce, not a bad start, I'd try to source an image of a glacier to fit the size of that plastic bag, or transform the bag to fit the outer perimeter of the glacier...that and it fills the frame more too. Just a suggestion. Great mask.
@safe mirage, moments before...
https://media.giphy.com/media/4ryp9Ihw0BEyc/giphy.gif
@sand lichen, are you on the default lasso tool or "polygonal" lasso tool? Try switching to the polygonal lasso tool instead, and it should work.
@pliant geyser I appreciate the feedback. I'm rather new to Photoshop (I spend most of my time in Lightroom). I appreciate the challenges, and the feedback helps me grow in my skills. 😀
@patent estuary 😂😂😂👍
@left abyss Just to clarify, it's called a spiny catlizard. You're confusing it with the Argentinian lizardcat which looks very similar but isn't as poisonous. LOL. Super job. Excellent work mixing the two and carrying the scales through to the face. Keep it up!
day 2 challenge, learned a lot with this challenge
@left abyss I'm so impressed! amazing
here is what I started with. I matched all colors to the antlers. I tried moving the owl's head position to match the deer but looked better moving the antler's to match the owl
My horned owl. I added light, shadows, haze, and 2 blurs and color adjusted. then tried to twist the horns to line up with the owl face.

Day 2 - Blending Images
Hi everyone! This is my day 2...
My iceberg is screaming!! Fun doing this challenge.
@young karma, feedback is how we grow, that and when I started Photoshop, I learned on Photoshop 7.0, in high school, and look how far the program has come and what we can create. You"ll get there!
The biggest invest is in oneself!

@primal fulcrum, very well composited, and the masking is great too!
Harry Potter approves.

Those look amazing !
@pliant geyser I scrapped the original mashup and tried it again. I think it works a little better this time. On the castle one I was trying for that fairy-tale fantasy thing, so I am glad it came through.
@hollow yarrow, I love it. Simple. I like the gritty textured frame that outlines the design. I'm always inspired to push my work when I see your creations. Kudos.

@primal fulcrum your work is beautiful. The detail on the owl blend is awesome.
@hollow yarrow super piece. How many images did you blend?
@hollow yarrow That's a really powerful image! Nice work 😊
Different twist... Same idea. Hope you all like it. Peace.
@hollow yarrow LOVE your Day 2 piece. Wow, well done!
@primal fulcrum Excellent job. The color changes match well. I was thinking, to make the horned owl really pop, I would try reversing the background so the water is behind the owl. Keep up the great work.
@hollow yarrow super piece. How many images did you blend?
@eternal mica : 7 (sky, bear, iceberg, water surface, water line, gas pump and chalkboard for underwater background) + 2 used to create custom brushes for bottom poster masking... some 9 😉
@twilit shore oh good idea. I was having a hard time separating him. I added some shadow but couldn't think of what else to do. thanks

@open kettle my eye is attracted to the one on the right, maybe because my focus is on the bottom portion which is the subject of waste. The first challenges the idea of paradise on top and what lies below isn't always "paradise". (to me.) Great work.
@hollow yarrow Besides for the message delivered Beatifully with your composition, I Love how you merged the oil rigs at the bottom with the overall "painty effect" Fantastic Work!

knock down the highlights just a touch and it will be perfect! You can add an adjustment layer that has a layer mask that you can add/remove to make it realistic.

Here's my final. I added the Smudge Stick filter (Filter Gallery) to give what I added a more of a painterly quality.
Here is my blend project posted in the space.
This a project I did along time ago I just learning how to use Photoshop when I did this. The car is my GTO I had until I sold the car. I recolored in Photoshop to see what it look like as blue and added the ground after I touched up on the car.
My son's dog Ahsoka. I dont have a good pic of her paws, so I wasnt able to really work hands properly.

Another tough one! Day 3 Challenge - Queen Delilah 🙂
@haughty cape beautiful
Thank you, Paul. Great tutorial! Thank you for the link to the art gallery for the public domain images (https://www.rijksmuseum.nl/). I used images of our cat, Zippy. I call it "Tea Time for Zippy". This was a lot of fun!📸 Have a great day, Rick. 🙏
@normal basalt The arms turned out great!!
Nice images @barren wyvern. Since you have a warm background, my suggestion would be to give the dog more warm tones so they can match a little bit more. Also the dog seems that is a little bit transparent, you might increase the opacity to 100% so the background doesn't be visible on the dog area 😉
@cold snow I loved the name haha! The background looks super nice, you might brighten up a the left side of the dog or just flip it horizontally so it can have the same lightsource direction as the clothes 🙂
@obtuse flint Wow, amazing work. I loved how the sunset tones created a interesting effect on the image, also great masking feels very realistic 💯
Day 2, Blending images. Final.
@south adder Excellent idea and excution. IMHO, I find the inconsistant focus under the water a little distracting. It would be nice if everyting had a similar focus/blur to maintain realism. Great job. Rick. 📸
@broken whale well done! About your day 2, The golden text has a nice contrast to the background, my suggestions are that you can put the text placed on the bottom of the image so the the iceberg and the plastic bag can appear more, also you can reduce the extrusion and maybe remove the shadow to eliminate the distraction and create more impact! Good job 🙂
@eternal mica what a beautiful dog, super cute 🐶 ! I like that you masked the ear to give the impression that the hat is covering it. My considerations are the blending in this area 👇. To do that you can reduce the size of your brush and paint on this part to reveal a little bit more of your dog. For the paws you can reduce a little bit the size of them and use a small soft round brush on the layer mask to smooth the edges (you can do that on the head as well). Another cool work, Ted 🙂
Just a quick fun one...
Challenge #3
@nova swan haha I loved your Priest Lumi, cool job! Just a point of feedback: you might reduce a bit the size of the head so it can fit on the on the clother a little more. If the original Priest (😂) appears you can use the clone stamp tool or the content aware tool like Paul did to remove it (You don't have to remove it completely just on the areas that could show behind Lumi). 😉
My Boy Riley livin' the life of Riley
@ocean pine Very impressive work! I love the painting effect, my only feedback is that you might adjust the position of the paw to be touching the walking stick, good job!
@normal basalt The arms turned out great!!
@clever wraith Thank you, Julia. They were a challenge since cats do not have opposing thumbs ;-}.
@clever wraith haha I love it! Awesome job blending the dog to the image 💯
Thank you 🙏 This challenge was really fun. I definitely need more practice with puppet warp. @coral stone
Gave +1 Creative Carma to @coral stone
@haughty cape Your Queen Delilah looks amazing! I loved how you added noise to the whole composition. If you want, you can use a soft round brush in slightly bigger than the edges with low flow and paint on the layer mask blend it even more on the neck areas. The transition from the image to the cat will be a little larger and smooth 🙂
My model was difficult, but I found Princess Leia a pretty dress to wear 😆
@honest glade Loved your dog. The noise texture looks really nice. I'd just adjust the blending in this area, you can use the same technique that I told KTU 😉
my second challenge done 😋 how is look like ??

When my dog was announce queen. (just a quick one)
@thorn geyser I love the concept. It works really well at the reduced size, but not sure about the highlight on the tip of the head. It stands out quite a bit, and is much brighter than any of the other highlights in the image.
@young karma I love your image for today. I’m a sucker for black and whites.
Cat in a Large Hat, Caesar Boëtius van Everdingen - inspired!
@clever wraith Yeah I did notice the highlight, but not easy to remove as it was in the photo I used.

Day 3 - Bending Pixels
#✂challenges-feedback Day -3 Bending Pixels: this is our rabbit Penelope. Really happy with how it came out. I had some trouble with the neck. I used the filter gallery to try and give the head a painted look but not sure if it worked. Feedback really appreciated 🙂
Day 2 🙂
Day 3: Bending Pixels. I chose the painting by Anonymous because it was so fantastical; the shape of the coat, feet, and the fact that the walking stick stands on its own. I added a kitten and cat's paw from AdobeStock. I spent a lot of time trying to get that Curves > Auto > Options > Find light and dark to work, but all I got was white, no matter where I sampled. There must be some trick I missed, even though I watched the video several times. Bummer. Ended up using selective color.

@forest aspen I had the same issue at first, but after reviewing the tutorial from Paul i saw that i wasn’t working with the curve selected but with the mask. That solved it for me!
@twilit shore pretty nice effect! I love the texture you applied to the image. One suggestion is that you can mask the ears on the hat area. It will help to create the effect that the dog is actually wearing it.
@plain sable loved the painting effect and how the font seems to match the brushes strokes, nice colors choice for the text as well 🙂
@pale grail nice color blending! You can try to smooth the edges just a little bit to match the ones from the original painting. Well done 🙂
@pliant geyser awesomeeee! I like how the tones are matching on the cat’s face and the rest of the image, really impressive!
@balmy summit yours is my favourite
@storm wasp Super creative work! I like that you added a texture to the bone painting, maybe you could play just a little bit with the opacity so it can have the faded look as the other elements on the image. 🐶
@sturdy vault That’s a fashion dog haha, nice work!
Thank you so much @coral stone , I will def go back and try that out. Thanks for taking the time to review my work. 👍
Gave +1 Creative Carma to @coral stone
You're welcome @twilit shore 😉
Meet King Georgie!
@young karma I loved your day 2, very creative and conceptual!
@daring slate Judging by her face she is loving being a queen haha, nice job!
@winter tinsel Loved the gothic font, it matches the style of your work really well!
@wispy compass Really nice effect, the expression of your cat seems to match the original piece. My only suggestion is to work a little more on the whiskers, you can use the Refine edge tool and/or the brush tool to refine your mask, well done!
@opaque mango Cool job blending the two images especially on the neck area and the texture really gives a special touch to the composition. Great job!
I just joined the server, wanna start from the first challenge, can I get some directions please?
Thanks to @coral stone, I re-fashioned my Day 3 challenge to better effect the idea that the dog is actually wearing the hat. Kudos.
Gave +1 Creative Carma to @coral stone
Well done @twilit shore 💯!
@balmy summit I absolutely loved, the beard dragon has a superior expression on the face and it looks awesome haha. Great job on the mask, Wendy!
@tacit condor wow! Your dog has a nice conceptual look on his face, nice job on the color adjustment 🙂
@reef robin click on the side where it says "announcements/read only" and click on creative-challenge. You will find links to all the starter files. You can watch the replays on YouTube or behance
@daring slate thank you! I'm working on possibly adding a dubia roach (her favorite food) instead of the dog. But we'll see how that goes lol
Gave +1 Creative Carma to @daring slate
@coral stone thank you! the color adjustment is the hardest for me.
You did a great job @balmy summit 🙂
Today's challenge after Photoshop crashed on me, good enough for now! Learning both that I need to save often (rookie mistake) and how a 25 min video with Paul turns into 2 hours of a stop and replays. Great to see everyone's work!
@forest aspen awesome blending! I like how you kept the original hair from the image and made it overlaps the cat, awesome work! About your issue on auto tone it’s exactly what @paper chasm said 🙂
Gave 1 Creative Carma to Michel_Sw (current: #295 - 1)
@hybrid mantle nice color adjustments, I like how his paw is holding the sword, well done!
@winter tinsel, lol, nice. You found a great file at the right angle for that composite!
Now who's really man's best friend in that pic..
Day3 - combined with my personal photo. How can I fix this looks like more realistic ?
@sacred field, great angle, I would transform the head to better match the size of the body, apply a bit of blur to the Blue's head (maybe 0.5 to 0.8) to match the sharpness of the painting.
@green loom It's actually pretty close. I have two suggestions that might help. One, bring up the highlights on the dog. The environment is very bright white, so a few more bright areas on the dog might help it fit the environment better. Two, the original photo is a lower resolution than the dog. So the dog is crisp, but the rest of the photo is a bit blurred. Experiment with adding a touch of blur and noise to the dog, so it matches the texture of the photo.
After today's hard work, having some fun with aerial yoga and "blazées" women 😆
@coral stone thank youu! Puppet warp makes it so easy!
Gave +1 Creative Carma to @coral stone
My roommate's cat Monet, named after the painter so I thought it was fitting to make him into a painting! I struggled with the paws as they were taken with them flat and in front of him, but overall I feel it's pretty good! This is the first blending project I've ever done like this.
what did i do wrong ?i followed the blend challenge to the plastic bag move .when i went to scale it to size the layer did not move together leaving the mask . how did this happen?
@coral stone ...thank you! Yes the whiskers...I worked long and hard on the whiskers...used the refined edge tool...tried the eclipse tool...I just have trouble with the details and the refined edge tool...I guess I need to practice...practice...practice 😋
You got this! @wispy compass 💯

@atomic lion looks like you have a selection going on. Press ctrl+D to deselect and then try to scale the layer again.
@sullen willow i love your idea! i think you made some nice touches to your edit - but i couple of things i picked up were that the paint is kind of coming off of canvas? other than that, i think it's great! i love the shadowing you did to make it look more realistic!
my picture and doggy gave me some trouble with the hands
Had busy couple of days. I'll have to catch up over the weekend with these cool new skills and challenge photos, but here is a silly selfie blending images photo I did the other day... it will have to do until I have time to try the new skills ... and yes my dogs are included ...
@young karma Thank you. yes, i had to use the healing tool because i had to get rid of the hat which was leaking into the canvas, and i could have done a better job there. thank you for your feedback!

Took this at the zoo, unsure how to try and match the painting technique to the photo though

Your Highness Nacho III. I had a hard time rotating the head without rotating the whole photo. I still can't figure it out? Suggestions>
@gilded jungle That looks awesome, I love how you got the paw to look like its really holding the sword
@coral stone Thank you so much. Thats a very encouraging review. On the collar, I couldnt decide to leave it in or eiminate it. Thanks for the tip on the paws.

Damn. This was the hardest i have ever done... I took 4 pictures and combined them.
@opaque mango I really like it. the colors are blended beautifully
@young karma the effort was worth it because it turned out amazing!

@storm wasp Super creative work! I like that you added a texture to the bone painting, maybe you could play just a little bit with the opacity so it can have the faded look as the other elements on the image. 🐶
@coral stone Thank you! I played around a bit with the bone image but didn't really manage the effect I wanted. I think it would work better if I drew the bone myself and maybe whitewashed the canvas first.
@pale grail Haha, very nice! I think it might help to give the dogs face a bit of a levels adjustment to boost both the brightness and even the darks a bit to match the contrast of the painting. And fading the edge of the dog's head for a softer blend might help too, good job!
@storm wasp Perfect! Haha. Loving the portrait of the bone. Really awesome work fitting these images together. The texture on the dog's head, the cast shadow under the paws, all very well done. This turned out great!
@plain sable Ooh, really nice job making the dog fit the style of the painting, really cool effect! Really great texture on Challenge 2 as well. Looking good!
@thorn geyser Oooh, I love this one, makes him look like a humanoid dinosaur, haha. Really great job of fitting the head into both the shirt collar and hat in a natural way! I feel like a bit of a cast shadow using a multiply layer under the hand on the far right could be a nice touch. Super cool!
@tacit condor Great effect with challenge 2! Really cool concept and the way you matched the two photos up works really well, perspective looks really natural too. Well done!
@sturdy vault Hah, this turned out really nicely! The lighting on the dog fits the outdoor scene well. I feel like the paws might benefit from having the contrast boosting up a bit to match the rest of the image, but that's a really minor note. Nice work on this one 😄
@young karma Wow, you're killing it with this one, above and beyond! Both these images are integrated really well, even the fade of the contrast of the lions head fits the image perfectly. Awesome concept and execution. Bravo!
@daring slate I love the dog's expression in the context of this image, haha. The direction of the lighting fits in perfectly with the image's lighting coming through that window. Looks great!
@pliant geyser Love it! That cat is a great casting choice for Jack Sparrow, hah. Fits in the image very well, nicely done!
@winter tinsel This matches the painting so well! Really great photo of the dog for this image as well, looks very natural. The other dog in the scene makes this work so well too, hah. If I may nitpick I think the face of the dog could maybe use just a toooouch more contrast in both the darks and lights. If you look at the face of the lower dog you can see how bright the lights are and how deep the darks get. It already looks on point, just a thought. Great work!
@sacred field Love it! You fit the hat on the dog perfectly, hah. The dog's expression is great too. I wonder if warming the colors of the dog's face might match the warm tones of the painting a bit more, I often use a photo filter to quickly try this type of edit. Looks great!
@bitter zodiac Challenge 2 looks really good! The colors and values of the bag match really nicely with the photo, and gives a really nice underwater look. The whole thing creates an interesting shape as well. Really nice work!
@wispy compass Oooh, this is a good one! I really love how well that angle of the cat face works with this painting. I'm not sure if you used the refine edge brush tool within the quick selection tool but it might help you get a more natural soft edge with the edge of the cat's face. Here's a quick little video in case you were curious. Well done 😄 https://youtu.be/c2I7X92IVGk
@opaque mango This matches so well with the colors and values of the painting, very natural looking! Sometimes I've used the oil paint filter under Filter->stylize with some luck for that look. Looks like it fits in quite well! Solid work 👍
@bleak fossil Thanks. I appreciate the comments and will work on it tomorrow.
Gave +1 Creative Carma to @bleak fossil
@young karma Really great concept! I like the idea. I really like how the colors on the paint roller seems to match up with the rainbow as well, though it could be a nice touch to get a little more of the red/purple tone near the bottom of it. Very cool!
@forest aspen Really like how you handled the hair and ears in this, haha. The color seems to match really nicely! Perfect angle of the cat face for this photo too. I feel like the edge between the hair and cat face could be a toouch softer to match the outer edge of the hair a bit more, but that's a bit of a nitpick. This came out great!
@south robin Really nice color gradients between these 3 portraits! The colors work nicely together, and I really like the visual hierarchy in this in how each portrait seems to have a different level of contrast. Nice job!
@mighty linden Nice work! Challenge #2 looks good, I think the colors and lighting match very nicely! The shark is a nice touch, which also matching the lighting of the deep water in a very natural way. Well done!
@cerulean steppe Very cool! Somehow the black and white makes me think of some old time horror movie. Definitely gives it an interesting look. The edge of the bag on the left side looks a little soft and appears slightly out of place, though that's a bit of a nitpick. Nicely done!
@deep rampart Really cool! Welcome on in! This looks really nice, matching the dog's head to fit that hat worked well. I think you could push this even further by matching the light and dark tones to the painting, currently I think the bright white of the fur seems out of place. Maybe something a bit darker and warmer to match the tones of the painting. Nice work!
@fathom sail The colors and lighting of this cat painting are on point! Very nicely done. Definitely fits in with the painting nicely. I think perhaps the outside edged of the cats head could be a bit sharper to look more natural. Fur/hair can be tricky but I think the refine edge brush tool within the quick selection tool would do a nice job in case you hadn't tried it. Here's a quick little video in case you were unfamiliar https://youtu.be/c2I7X92IVGk
@gilded jungle The positioning and angle of this cat head works perfectly with this painting, hah. Looks really good! One thing I notice is the values seem a little mismatched. I think if you eased off the deepest darks of the cat head juust a little it might better match the deepest dark tones of the rest of the painting. Nice work with the masking on this as well!
@nocturne shuttle I think the colors and tones of this image are matching quite well, nicely done! I've had luck with the oil style filter under filter-stylize and I've also seen Jesus Ramirez show a mixer brush technique to manually brush over an area on a new layer to get a sort of painterly look. The oil one might be a quicker way to get some pretty nice results if that's what you were looking for. This turned out well!
@red moat The quarantine hair is point, hah. Really nice style to this whole design. I really like how you repeated the background color in the eyes, gives the design some nice unity. Looks good!
@warm hamlet Very nicely done Dawn! The colors and tones seem to fit the painting very nicely, and I like the way you fit the dog’s head into the shirt collar. I like the side position of the hat too, looks good!
@regal mica Very nice work! The hair on that dog photo definitely seems quite tricky. Were you using the refine edge brush tool for that at all? That’s my go-to tool for hair, but that photo looks like it could be tough. Really nice job fitting this in the painting. I feel like the dog’s head could use a little boost to the bright tones in the center of the face to match the lighting just a bit more. But overall this is looking really solid!
@crystal stream Hah, pets can be notoriously hard to photograph. Love this photo you chose for this challenge! Not sure if you used the refine edge brush tool but it might be able to give you less jagged edge on the dog’s fur. Also, with how dark the fur is I think you could probably just draw the other ear in by making a selection with the lasso took and filling it in. This all fits together well, nice work 😄
@stable ravine Love it, you really nailed the masking on the hair! Well done. I really like how the dog’s black fur makes this entire outfit black, very cool looking. My only small suggestion is I think you could boost up the darks on the dog’s head so the shadows get a little closer to the shadows of the clothing. This turned out great!
@floral frigate Very nice, are these photos of your own dogs? They look great! They fit really well with this painting, great choice. The colors seem to match really well, though I wonder if they dog’s faces could be just a touch brighter in the highlights. Really nice work on this, it turned out very well!
@late thorn Very cool! Really interesting look to this design, I like the subtle texture on the portrait. I feel like the portrait could maybe use a boost to the dark tones to give it more contrast, but that might just be personal preferences. It definitely has an interesting effect as is. Gradients are looking good, nice work!
@tropic haven Oh man, this turned out great, hah, love this design. The cat fits so perfectly with it. Really nice job with the masking and fitting the images together. My only thought is that lightening up the darkest tones of the cat head might help match it better to the painting. If you color pick the cat head you'll notice some areas go to basically full black, while the paintings deepest shadows are actually a good space away from full black. I think that adjustment would fit them together even more. Awesome job!
@broken whale I'm sorry to hear that. I love the black and white idea for this one, gives it a really interesting mood. If you wanted to go even further I think a bit of a cast shadow with a multiply layer from the hat could look nice. Maybe something like this? Well done!

Took another crack at the welcome challenge.
Day 3. I don't have a dog now, but I did at one time, so I dug up pics of Lady and got an appropriate body from the Museum site to add her to. Thoughts?
@bleak fossil Thanks Sam, yes was using the refine edge brush but am fairly new to this so might have bitten off more than I could chew... if you get my drift. Thanks for the tip on boosting the bright tones in the centre of the face, will give it a go... The more I look at it the more it seems like the head is just floating on top, not actually part of the background. Expect I'll get better with practice. Appreciate your feedback. 😀

Day-3
My third attempt, mother and child! Anyone know how to get some texture in Photoshop as the face is too clear?
@brisk flower I duplicated my layer mask of the head then went into Filter-Filter gallery, click on bottom left 100% and change to 'fit in view' and added the brush strokes filter cross hatch and I also added the craquelure in the Textures one too.
Here is my Day 3. For some reason I couldn't get the context fill to work or get the auto colour correction to work! So frustrating.
@barren ice Mine didn't work at first either. I duplicated my layer with all the clipping masks and then added the curves layer and did the ALT (OPTION) + Auto and then it worked.

@south adder I think you did a fantastic job!!! Looking closely I think that you could have just added a little bit of shadow perhaps on the farther side of the dog standing up to give it a bit more depth... Great work!!!

@livid hedge Awesome and so funny! Good idea to keep originals hands and change colors!
(🤔 it's just my opinion: maybe you could match more hands and head with aqua tint on hands).
Your work still great! 👍
Morning and happy May 1st!
https://media.giphy.com/media/3o6ozhc2lsahmlAj04/giphy.gif
@livid hedge really good. shadow on the neck is cool. I think the green in the hand doesnt quite match the green of the face, but maybe thats just the way monsters' hands are.
I have an issue selecting the right mask after selecting the object for adjustment, any ideas?
@opaque mango thank you got the colour correction to work. Still cant get the context fill to work though. Any suggestions? How did you do this?
@barren ice Trying to remember, I think I duplicated the background layer again and turned off all the other layers then selected the head to remove, right click- fill- and content aware. I know it didn't work straight away for me either as I was following the video but think that is how I got it to work. Another option might be to use the clone stamp? as it will be covered by the animal head? I am no expert and just learning as I go on this. 🙂
I thought that I saw a message about the asset I usd for my cat, but I can't find who, and where the message is now. Anyway, I download my pic from the link Paul mentioned. Hope whoever you are get this. Thanks!

@bleak fossil , thank you for your thoughtful feedback, love your point, your practical suggestions help me a lot.👍

@whole lotus nice job on the light direction. My only suggestion is to reduce the blue tones since it’s not a color that is present on the painting. You can use the warm tones present on the background and the background as a reference. 😉
@serene fog Great job masking the dog’s ear. I also like that you added some texture on his photo. You might smooth the edges on the nose area, you can do this by using the refine edge or a small soft round brush
@terse dock loved the Statue of Liberty and how you made it and how you faded it creating a nice atmospheric perspective and the colors are great as well! Your day 3 looks awesome, maybe you might mask the ears or just one of them to create the effect that the dog is wearing the hat even more. You can also smooth the edges of the nose area so the mask could be less sharper 🙂
@light cipher Cleo is super cute 😍 My only thought is that you could brighten up her face to match the luminosity of the painting a bit more. Great job, Mary!
@untold gust I loved the dog’s face expression! Well done!
@tardy ridge I loved the dog’s expression! Just one point of feedback is to mask the ears to give the impression that the dog is really wearing the hat 🙂
@uneven flume awesome job masking King Louie, I like the painting effect that you added on the cat and great making especially on the whiskers. 💯
@warm edge I loved the typeface you used, what’s the name of it? My only suggestion is to add a little bit more contrast preserving the faded style but making it stand out more from the background especially on the pink/cyan one. You colors choice is amazing!
@tulip willow great angle! The shadow from his hat helps the image looks even more realistic, good job!
@steady lily How cute is your baby Choko! You might increase just a bit the size of his head. The color adjustments look very nice. Well done!
@sand lichen The dog expression seems to match really well to the one that is looking at, almost that “oh no this dog again!” Hah. Good job!
@covert gulch loved that the had has a special place for the ears haha. My suggestion is to refine the edge just a bit more and maybe mask the the right ear or position it to along the curve of the hat. Nicely done, Robyn!
@barren ice sorry to hear that, if you need help please tell me 🙂 In addition to what @opaque mango said, here are some points that can be happening: Content aware fill does not work with Smart Object, if the image is a Smart Object you can Rasterise it. For the color adjustment make sure you don’t have the mask selected instead of the the curves icon selected. Let me know if this worked out 😉
@odd gull loved the glitch effect, awesome work!
@coral stone Hello boss how are you.
@orchid steeple nice one. My only thought is that you could refine the edge just a bit more, so it can remove the blue halos of it. If your are using the Select and Mask try to enable the Decontaminate Colors option and see if it worked out on your image 🙂
Happy Friday @covert loom I'm doing well and you? Just in time for the feedback on your work hah: Nice colors. Did you use outer glow for the hat? My only suggestion is to preserve the hat body to be more consistent with the other clothes 🙂

@brittle slate, suggestions?
@bleak fossil Thank you for your kind comments. You're right about the dark tones, but as cameras don't like me 😉 , I tend to try to obscure myself as much as possible!

challange day 4, robotr rule the world 🙂
Day 4 final result, not sure if the word "anchors" is too low?
DAY 4 - Distorting Type
@thorny spruce I think what threw me is that I initially missed the word "anchors". I think possibly because it's so dark. I really like where you're going with it though! 🙂
Day 3 challenge
@inland kiln, I likes! Great choice of animal, and love how the coat of the animal is a perfect match for the coat on the portrait!
https://media.giphy.com/media/OhFuOJn2rbLsA/giphy.gif
@zinc elbow Text is a bit hard to read. More contrast would help. A stroke or drop shadow or glow or different colors?
@primal fulcrum I thought that & did add a glow but not really strong enough. Thanks
Gave +1 Creative Carma to @primal fulcrum
@thorny spruce Really liking the design and layout for the Day 4 challenge! The background texture is a great choice too. I don't think the anchor is necessarily too low, but perhaps if you could create more contrast between the text and the anchor it would have a stronger read at a glance. Perhaps by lightening up the bottom of the anchor just a bit? Nice work!
@zinc elbow Ooh, really like the contrasting colors on the Day 4 design! I like the flow of the asymmetric design as well. I think it might help to strengthen the contrast between the letters and background for a stronger read at a glance. Perhaps making them a bit brighter would help?
@inland kiln Ooh, this turned out great! I love the strong triangle shape created by the head and the cape. I feel like the brightness of the tiger head could maybe be boosted just a touch to closer match the painting. Really solid work on this!
@distant dune Looking good! I really like the soft color palette and gradient on this Day 4 design. Gives the whole thing a relaxing feel. Nice work with the liquify effect as well!
@serene fog Really interesting arrangement of the text! Kind of reminds me of the effect Paul did on the intro stream, almost making the text a sort of texture over the background. I might look nice to get rid of the hard line across the bottom area, and perhaps even push the values of the gradient to make the transition a bit more dramatic. Though that's really just personal preference. Really cool design!
@manic edge I love the lighting and colors of this image with the elephant! They fit together really well. The only suggestion I have would be to boost the darks of the elephant to match the contrast and dark tones of the background. Might make the images fit together even more. Looks really good!
@patent estuary Haha, very cool! Love all the elements you added in this Day 3 challenge. I definitely think finding images at the right angle and right lighting is a huge part of the battle for these images. The only suggestion I really have it that maybe the hat the lap dog is wearing might be a little bright compared to the lighting on the painting. Especially against the dark black coat it pulls a lot of contrast. Maybe using a multiply layer or darken it down a bit around that edge could look good? Love the painting you added on the canvas in this XD
@open kettle Haha, perfect! I love how well the lighting of the dog's head matches the rest of the photo. The colors fit together very nicely as well, looks good!
@past reef Great liquify effect on the text in this one! The sort of tie dye colors work really well with that effect too. This text all fits together really nicely style wise, and the black background gives the whole thing a really powerful contrast. Looks great!
@bleak turtle Wow, you did a great job of making the dog heads work within this painting! The masking looks really good, and the blending of the images looks really natural. Even down to the shadows you added on the left dog's head around the hair, collar and hat area. Very well done!
Perhaps even a little could be added under the paws and where the hat sits too. Love the painting you added on the canvas in this XD
@young karma Haha, I love the painting you used for this! Very cool. I think to push the effect even further trying to match the lighting a bit more could help. The lighting on the painting looks fairly strong and from the center/left. Perhaps brightening the dogs face on the center left could help? Maybe something like this? I just used a color dodge and multiply layer to try and match the lighting more. Great image!
Day 3 of the challenge. The collar was hard to do...
@next pagoda That collar definitely looks tricky, nicely done though! This turned out really well. I especially like how you even got a bit of a painted look to the dogs head to match the original painting image. I think the lighting might actually match a bit better if you flipped the dog's head, since the lighting seems to be coming from the right on the dog, but left on the painting. Just a thought. Really nicely done!
@bleak fossil Just had a play on iPad PS to look at the text. Thanks 😃

Day 4
@bleak fossil, thanks! I'll give that a try! Did you use a brush on multiply, dodge/burn tool, or exposure/curves adjustment layer clipped to a layer?
Gave +1 Creative Carma to @bleak fossil
@steady lily, nicely done! And good dog, Choko! If I may, viewing the original, you can make out a bit of the neck from the original. Try to add more to Choko's neck by way of clone stamping that area, or create a selection from a similar area, cut/paste, move, and brush it back on the layer mask, then match the tone with an exposure/curves adjustment layer, as another way to make up for that. It should fill in the missing area, and from there meticulous exclude the other portion of the collar of the suit on the mask.

@manic edge I love the lighting and colors of this image with the elephant! They fit together really well. The only suggestion I have would be to boost the darks of the elephant to match the contrast and dark tones of the background. Might make the images fit together even more. Looks really good!

@bleak fossil thank you! i'll try that! i thought it looked a bit off, thanks for pointing it out!

Ok, it's not finished and a bit weird, but I got things to do!
Hello everybod. did first/intro day, selfie, and pet. environmental one, I still have to clean up my mess. My cat said you gotta turn in and move on and brush me. Nice to meet you all! Just paid my rent. Happy May Day!
I've tried to keep it simple yet with some of the free spirit of the jazz theme
@untold gust I loved the dog’s face expression! Well done!
Thanks, @coral stone. The dog had the right expression already in the original photo, but the tricky part was flipping her head (she was looking to her right in the original) and masking out her body to make it fit on the neck of the young lady in the painting.
Day 4: I'm not sure if this qualifies as "distorting" but playing around with typography... 🤷♀️
Challenge 3- Bending Pixels
First go at the Day 4 challenge - any thoughts?
Day 4 Challenge - Learned a few things that I shall surely forget!
daily Creative Challenge. Very messy version 🤣
Day 3, a little late as I wanted to use my own image. Took me a while but I did it.
Day 4 - 1st Attempt
@viral mirage The black and white image creates a dramatic mood to your composition which is really great! I also like how you added the blood splatter and how it matches the mysterious style that the typeface has.
@pale grail nice job! I loved how you made the arc on the word rainbow and filled with a gradient. The suggestion I have is: since you have a thin typeface, the drop shadow, especially on “Maya Angelou”, can be more subtle, for that, you might place it closer the letters, give a little sharper look (reducing the size amount) and reducing the opacity just a bit so it still can have a nice contrast to the background and be subtle in the same time. Good job 🙂
@ionic maple wow amazing job, Shannon! I The way that you made the text with textures and the cracks seems to match really well on the images’ mood! The background composition looks awesome! I like that you applied blur on those transparent areas helping to bring a realistic feeling. Super well done!
@coral stone. I actually found this to be challenging I haven’t worked with text hardly at all but it was fun, thanks for the tips! 😀
Gave +1 Creative Carma to @coral stone
@eternal mica cool work, Ted and cool context too. I like the dramatic effect that the typeface has, my only suggestion is to reduce just a bit the distortion especially on this area, so the text can have more readability. You’re doing a great challenge Ted 🙂
@fathom sail The monochromatic look and the letters are impressive! The emboss effect helps them to pop to the viewer. Also great job on the textures 🙂
@shadow barn wow awesome effect, I loved it! If you want, you can try the Displace effect that Paul showed on the welcome stream (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jvKIarkZbCcO or on his masterclass in January (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uOnHi_8ufwo) to see how it goes. Keep going and don’t forget to show us the final piece 😉
Thank you Valdair! Will do!
@cunning needle I loved the cats composition, you might play with textures to blend even more on the scene. Your day one looks really nice, the warm tones seems to match the subtle wave lines that you applied, nicely done!
@storm wasp Nice job using type on a path! My only consideration is to adjust the contrast especially on this gray area so the text can stand out from the background! Loved the quote 💯
@haughty cape I like the contrast between the words, the background! The visual effects on the words are amazing! How did you do the Roots words? 😍 super well done! My only suggestion is to turn the drop shadow more subtle since the words themselves already contrasts nicely against the background! Great job 😉
@ripe peak I loved the dog and how you blended really well to the image. You can also mask one or both ears to enhance the impression that the dog is really wearing 🙂
Day 4
@odd spear Nice use of the flare, it really enhances the gold effect. If you want you may play some different backgrounds, well done!
@daring dock I loved the paint splashes you made! And also how you made it like a frame to the image! Good job!
Wow really impressive work @white pebble! I love what you did with the hands/paws haha, great job!
@coral stone thanks
Gave +1 Creative Carma to @coral stone
@cold oyster I like the font that you used, feels very Joker hah what’s the name of it? The dark atmosphere creates an interesting mysterious effect, well done!
Thanks @coral stone
I was actually just addressing the problem with the clarity of the text!

You're doing great, @storm wasp 🙂
Thank you!
@honest glade I loved the colorful background and how the type seems to be moving with it! Broadway typeface is one of my favorites 🙂

Gave +1 Creative Carma to @coral stone
@daring dock I assume thats a spelling mistake?
@brittle slate Hello Paul. May I ask how you get a type specimen sheet for graphic fonts like MVB Pedestria Pict for example? How can I know what letter to press to get a specifice image? I can't imagine that I would have to type and delete every letter until I get the image I want. Thank you and have a great day, Rick. 📸

@daring dock I assume thats a spelling mistake?
@eternal mica oooooooooooo my mistake thanks for feedbacks
@eternal mica if your layer is a smart object you can use double click on the filter on the layers panel and use the Reconstruct Option or the Reconstruct Tool (R) to paint back. If it's not you'll have to redo the steps. 🙂
🤣 😂 😅 Quick Modifications and Fix
Day 4 distorting type #✂challenges-feedback Not too much distortion and not wowed by it myself but it was one idea I had and here to learn. A quote my Mum used often when I was younger.

challenge
Photoshop Daily Challenge. Day 4. Time Waits for No Man.
And for day 3. 😁
My attempt at the days 1 ‘Spectacular Selfie’ challenge. Didn’t have any suitable pictures of myself so searched Unsplash for free clip art of trolls. The source images used here were the only ones not of landscapes, read into that what you will. The dolls featured were also anatomically correct, hence the small black rectangles I added to avoid Puritan Palpitations.
I suppose there’s an element of challenge 4 in the banner.
#3 Sir Piggy Raggi
@bleak fossil thank you for your feedback . The whiskers on the cat were tough for me...I did use the refine edge tool but I must be doing something wrong because it doesn’t seem to work for me. I will check out the video you suggested! Thanks

Blending images challenge. I added a couple of extra flairs - I blurred the iceberg and the plastic bag to try and make them look like they were really underwater.
das actually pretty nice
l
@patent estuary Haha, very cool! Love all the elements you added in this Day 3 challenge. I definitely think finding images at the right angle and right lighting is a huge part of the battle for these images. The only suggestion I really have it that maybe the hat the lap dog is wearing might be a little bright compared to the lighting on the painting. Especially against the dark black coat it pulls a lot of contrast. Maybe using a multiply layer or darken it down a bit around that edge could look good? Perhaps even a little could be added under the paws and where the hat sits too. Love the painting you added on the canvas in this XD
@bleak fossil, I applied the feedback you gave me and believe it is close to what you suggested. Version 2. (no animals or hotdogs were harmed in the process)

Feedback appreciated
@young karma Really interesting design here! Very cool to see how these elements all came together. That red/orange pinwheel shape makes for a really interesting graphic element and a really eye catching color contrast against the blue background. My only suggestion is it might help to increase the contrast (specifically boost the darks) of the bird head to match the deeper darks of the rest of the scene. Really minor but figured I'd mention it. Looks good!
@stable ravine Looking good! The font works well with the wooden crate texture! It could be nice to see that text offset effect Paul did to bring even more attention to the warped "Disturb" text, but that's just personal preference really. Looking good!
@tired solstice Very cool, glad you were able to! The bag blends into the iceberg image really well, nicely done. The colors and light look good, and the boats are a nice touch too!
@oblique anvil Ooh, really cool colors and style to your Day 1 challenge! The complementary color scheme really makes this pop. Really great job on the masking as well, the edge of the hair looks really natural!
@unkempt field These are great! I like that you tried this with two different paintings, I especially like the bulldog's face, hah. I think it might help to brighten the bulldogs face a little in the top center region to match the lighting even more, but these are looking good!
@primal fulcrum Very cool! The background texture in this came out really well! Lot of cool coloration and shapes. I like the style and boldness of the pink text. I feel like it might help for the rest of the text to be a bit brighter against the dark background to get a better read. Perhaps putting a lighter fill color within the text, maybe even at a lower opacity so the background shows through could help that. Really nice work!
@twilit shore Really interesting effect with the text! All the different font styles kind of remind me of those notes made from magazine clippings, hah. It really depends on what you're going for, but I think that often time keeping it to just a few colors or font styles can make for more cohesive design. Or if you're going for more styles, then having a more consistent structure to the placement can give it some order. Again, really just depends on the look you're going for. I like the distortion you got on this text, nice work!
@tame jacinth Really interesting colors and text in this! I like the depth of the image that the background perspective provides. The text warping also adds some nice movement and energy to the design. Nicely done!
@wooden bloom That's great to hear! These challenges really are all about building that mileage and comfort with these techniques. The colors on the iceberg image area looking really nice, you definitely got that underwater look with the bag. The only thing that really stands out is the bag seems to be a bit warped and stretched in an unnatural way in the middle and left section. Kind of has a bit of a glitch looking effect. I think getting those areas to be a bit more consistent with the rest of the bag may look more natural. Good job!

Planet or Plastic
@bleak fossil thanks! I will see what the extra contrast looks like
Planet or Plastic
@south robin i love your tagline
Very interesting effect @whole lotus! I like how you created a contrast of the colorful abstract text against the background. Looks like you have a little bit of fringing on the subject’s hair, you can easily remove it by using one layer clipped to the subject’s layer and then with the clone stamp tool pick a sample of the hair and paint with it on the fringing area with a small brush (I put a link to the Aaron Nace on Adobe Live where he teaches this technique on #❓ask-a-question channel). Nice work Roger 😉
@chilly hawk, I loved the effect and how the colors contrasts really well against the red background, nicely done! You might place the “Beyonce” text near the quote (maybe below the word grow) so the elements can be related even more to the viewer.
@covert loom very nice job! I like the plastic/ metal effect you created on the bottom. Sometimes the Liquify filter might push the pixels from the edge and create this effect below 👇 you can easily remove this by using the liquify itself, just click and drag with the Forward Warp tool to fill the empty places. Well done Mahedi!
Great job on the mask @worthy quest I like how the colors of the dog are consistent in relation to the background, nicely done!
That’s a powerful dog @left abyss haha! My only suggestion is to decrease just a bit the paw size. And here’s a little tip: you can mask the ears to give even more the impression that the dog is wearing it. Good job, Nicole 🙂
@untold gust I loved the distortion, my only thought is on the Ben Parker, since it’s a script font you might made it lowercase preserving just the first letters in uppercase. Script fonts tend to connect to each other when they are on lowercase and this effect can increase the readability even more. Awesome work, Scott!
@young karma those splashes look really nice. I like how the quote is related to the background, really cool!
@regal mica The effect on the word Peaches is amazing! I love the way that the distortions follow the letters movement, impressive work!
@ruby panther The quote works really well with the effect especially on the yellow to green transition. My only suggestion is that you might play with the edges of the text. You can use a small size grass brush on the layer mask to create the roughen edges effect. Super well done, Shawn 🙂
Nice job @mild spruce! I like the color adjustment tou made on the second work! 😉
@queen turtle Good job! I like how clean and subtle you made the text. My only thought is that you can increase one or two weights of the font so it can be read more easily and maybe apply a subtle distortion with liquify or warp to give some movement to the text. Great work!
@uneven flume very nice effect! I like how you played with the rain and rainbow fill 💯
@ivory garden nice effect! The black text contrasts really well against the background. My only suggestion is to distort a little less so the text can have a bit more readability. If you applied liquify on the text layer and it is a smart object, you can double click on the effect and use the reconstruct option. 🙂
@south robin the neon text looks great, I like how you kept the blue tones and preserved the text readability. You might just adjust the Ps and the N to give them a lighter tone! Awesome work, Hannah! 🙂
Gave +1 Creative Carma to @bleak fossil
@bleak fossil thanks. Yeah, fortunately it is more legible at full size. I tried grouping the text layers but they lost the colors and effects. And since the "coloring" comes from many layers with blend modes, putting in another changed all the rest. I don't know how to keep the effect and yet add something under. I can't turn off everything and comp it since that would also change it. hmmm I'll think on how to do it.
Just tried some techniques.
@paper chasm i like the way you liquify clock
Challenge#3
@coral stone The top font I used on the Joker quote was Blood Crow and for The Joker I used Martyric.
Was on the tube last night.... So what the heck, why not?
"It's the End of the World as We Know it - And I Feel Fine!" song by R.E.M. I thought about putting all the lyrics into the mushroom cloud, and then I thought again. That's A LOT of type...
And this is followed by medicine for dinner.

@south robin I love your pet portraits. Nice job.
@coral stone really struggling with the luminosity, here is my second attempt 🙂
@light cipher Really nice @light cipher! There is a check layer that you can create to see the luminosity values. It's the Black And White adjustment layer. It removes the color distractions of the images and let you see the tonal values more accurately. You just need to compare the brightest tones of the background and see if they are matching with the ones from the dog's head image, the same with midtones and shadows. Then you can correct it with a curves/levels adjustment layer clipped to the dog's layer. If it the head becomes more saturated you can correct with a hue/saturation adjustment layer 😉

@calm bane I love how you played with the words, the cracks and the gold textures are amazing! Great job!
@pliant geyser The textures and the subtle glow are impressive, I like how you took care of all the details resulting in a great composition! Awesome work!
@compact pecan Nice job, Hugh! I like the impact of your work, my only suggestion is to play a little bit more on the text, maybe try a different color so it can be read more easily especially on the top. Well done 🙂
@odd gull hah very nice. I like how the word glitter has a glow and a texture on it and those bites on lunch are really creative! Good job, Helena!
@south robin l love what you did to the hats, like they have a space for the ears, well done!
@young karma awesome work, I like how you played with the hats as well.
@barren ice I like the distortion of the water, really cool! My thought is that you can adjust the size of the green text, especially on the circular one. If you want, you might also position it near the corners like it is a signature of a stamp of the poster.
@south adder hah loved the context of your work, well done!
Very nice work @queen dew!
@young karma woww I loved your work! The way that you created a visual interest with the “CC eggs” is really impressive! Awesome work 💯
@young karma beautiful work, I like the color palette that you used 🙂
@light cipher I love how clean your day 4 is! It matches perfectly the quote! Great job!
@whole tangle nice job, Jen! I like how the font color contrasts nicely against the blue water 🙂
@vagrant rapids I see that you used some 3D, great job 💯
@young karma Nice font choice! It matches really well with the playful background!
@coral stone thank you 😊

Cool job @buoyant nova The color adjustments that you made helps the composition be more realistic! My only suggestion is that you might smooth the edges of the dog to do that you can use the refine edge or the brush tool. Well done 🙂
@white pebble I loved the pastel colors, nicely done!
@tropic haven great job, Jessie! I like the cool to warm color transition, well done!

@coral stone , thank you for your feedback. I'd thought that my day 5 challenge was late because I didn't finish yesterday. Nice to see that the community is still active during weekend, and you're still working. Wow!

Managed Challenge 2 at last ... feedback would be appreciated thnak you 🙂
@brisk flower " 3 versions of the same thing - anyone got any ideas for the pattern on the word "OUT" as I can't find any that really make it stand out. Thanks
---- Hi, this is something that might make it pop without a texture.
Day 4: Distort Text. The image I used as a background is a pseudo Dali painting, Breakfast on the Beach, by shark 192009 from AdobeStock. The font is (was?) Indie Flower. I drew the mustache with the pen tool.
@coral stone Thank you

Sorry my previous is Challenge 3 and now is my Challenge 4
Reto creativo 3 🐶
@pliant geyser awesome piece
@forest aspen wow, thats awesome. the moustache is a great touch. the teaspoon is great. i love it
@golden badge perhaps you can try to blend the bag more into the iceberg? it seems that the iceberg is more visible, you can kind of see the plastic handles of the bag, but i think it can go in a tad bit more! i do like the depth and the shadowing of your piece!
@eternal mica Thanks! All done in 4 layers. Background and one for each line of text. Maybe I should have warped the bottom of Sparta a bit... but overall, I'm happy with it.

Distorting type
I came up with a whole different version today.
This has nothing to do with our Challenge. I just thought its worth sharing. Hubble Telescope 30th Anniversary photo released by NASA. Some pictures are perfect without Photoshop!!!!
@vagrant rapids beautiful colours, it looks like a book cover 🤩
challenge 4
Thank you @bleak fossil . Your comments are always helpful. Here's challenge 4 second try. I made the sequence easier to read. Peace

challenge 3 #idontknow
@wooden bloom PS daily challenge #4 Distorting Text I really enjoyed looking how to Distort Text. I got really excited when Paul talked about Salvador Dali as I had been to the museum to see his work. I have put one of the backgrounds in which I photographed whilst there with the quote.
For the this Daily Challenge, I wanted to create and recognize the 80s classic, "They Live".
For the background, I used an illustration/design from artist "Luke Preece" (great illustrator), & transformed it larger as to focus on the eyes and a bit of the face.
The aliens are known as "Fascinators". I applied a bit of liquify at the eyes to make it appear angry or much more evil.
I recalled Roddy Piper's character, infamous line, "I have come here to chew bubblegum and kick @$$ - and I'm all out of bubblegum".
I kept his basic needs to three...an Ithaca 37 shotgun, Dubble Bubble Gum (don't know if that's the correct one from the movie), and some black top sunglasses.
I wanted to make some of the background appear from behind the sunglasses, keep some reflection of the bubble gum in the lens.
Think of this as the "Kick @inland anchor starter kit".
@coral stonethanks for your feedback
challenge 4
😍
DCC - here is my try on day 3 challenge. Finally got time to do it on weekend
@coral stone Thank you for your suggestions. I now have a logo in the corner and have changed the eye of the fish and moved it up slightly.

@young karma Thank you for your words I will see if I can do this
Day 3 Challenge finished I think ... It's a Dog's Life - feedback would be appreciated thnak you 🙂
Final attempt. Thanks for the suggestion Vickey - I do like your idea but it's the practice with transforming type that I'm trying to practice.
hey guys i design a double exposure and need some feedbacks to make some improvements in my design.
Day 4, Distorting type 2, this is my second attempt, I posted another photo yesterday. Don't know which one is better. I wanted to give the quote more meaning with a photo I took this week.
@white pebble if you make the color of bottom text is gray or make it with low opacity then it may look batter.
thanks @daring dock will try that now

@coral stone Thank you for the review! I chose the font (Andale Mono regular) for that it looks rather flimsy and elusive (as happiness sometimes is.) I agree that it would be nice if the words are more legible. Unfortunately I couldn’t find the Andale font in bold, so I will leave it for now. Tried the warp and wish there were more control points (the last line is a bit too wavy for me..) Thank you to all the hosts and moderators! I really enjoy learning from you during these stay-at-home days.

Day 4, third attempt, thank you for the tip @daring dock now the text is also has a shadow.
Gave +1 Creative Carma to @daring dock
@white pebble it looks much batter. lets try to decrease opacity from top as well which may help top make to color text more pop.
@white pebble the shadow of the tree and the shadow of the lettering show the light source from different directions.
This is the result, I like this one the best, thanks again for the tips @daring dock I will upload it in behance.🙂

@queen turtle it is the texture that is conflicting with the text. If the goal is the text, then the text needs to be legible. If you applied a gaussian blur to the background the text will most likely appear to float over the background and make it easier to read. A darker color would help or a drop shadow. You can still keep it light but make it so it can be read.
@white pebble much better. Big improvement
@primal fulcrum thank you @daring dock was a big help in this. I am new and learning Thanks!!
Gave +1 Creative Carma to @primal fulcrum
@white pebble its my pleasure dear. In addition you can also apply gaussian blur in shadow text. Or some other variation and best of luck.
@bleak fossil ok sounds good! Thanks for the tip!

@young karma awesome work on the text effects!
@forest aspen I like how the font matches really well against the painting! Great job!
@lunar lance we can’t get enough of playing with distortion hah! I loved your background, my only suggestion is to increase the contrast in some areas, especially on this area 👇 just to make sure it has a nice readability to the viewer. You can do that by adjusting the brightness of the tone of the words. Good job 😉
@cerulean steppe I loved the quote hah nice job! Sometimes when using liquify to warp near the edge, it creates a empty space on it. To correct this, you can use liquify itself, using the forward warp tool fill this empty space 🙂
@modern halo nice job on your day 3, Willi! My only suggestion is to decrease the brightness just a bit so it can match more with the background! I loved the background of your day 4. Well done 🙂
@young karma Great job, I like the color palette you used, feels very clean. My only thought is on the word things it seems to be blending with the background losing contrast, you might adjust the tone darkening a bit or using the color of the word little. Nice distorting 💯
@nocturne lantern I loved the dog’s expression haha, I also like how you played with his ear and the color adjustments you made, good job!
@chilly hawk awesome job Cecilia! I like how the distorted text matches really well the quote and the background! 💯
@eternal mica Very creative use of the lines of the flag, well done Ted 🙂
@left abyss I loved the way that you blended the text and the background creating an interesting texture. Nicely done!
@mellow crypt Nice job on your day 3! On you day 4 I loved the wavy text you created matching the water on the background. Awesome challenges 🙂
@wooden bloom Amazing work, Rose 😃
@patent estuary Thank you so much for contextualising! Great job fitting the text on the sunglasses! I loved how subtle you made the text without creating any competition with the background. 💯

@white pebble so nice 😉
@floral frigate i'm really enjoying the percent signs and the number theme you gave it! good concept! :o
@floral frigate you are quoting the man who murdered president kennedy? yikes
@floral frigate ok I looked it up that was a quote from Wayne Gretzky the hockey player
