This week has been filled with the Photoshop Virtual Summit conference. I've managed to do the challenges in the evening, but this is the first day I've had the time to post here. So, you'll see three at once 🙂 . This is day 1
Day 2
Super cute @forest aspen 😍
Adjustment Layers - Day 3
Adobe Stock plastered right smack in the middle! 🤣
@young karma I think the blackest elements are a bit too dark. E.G. his arm over the chair is lost. If you eased up on that aspect of the image, I think it would look better.
Challenge 2 Layers
I just started the challenge today so DAY 1!
Day 3 Challenge
Day 3
@peak sentinel Nice work
thank u @eternal mica
Gave +1 Creative Carma to @eternal mica

@eternal mica thanks for the advice! i'll redo it and see if that helps!

Day 3 completed!
Daily Challenge #3 🔆
@pulsar walrus Nice work. I like how you were even able to give her a tattoo. looks real good.
@desert raven The green and purple play well..... especially in the hair detail. Great job.
@twilit shore actually I add 2 tattoos check right arm as well
aha.... yes.. I see it now..
Just started, Day 1
Here is mine for today! Scrolling through & I love everyone's work!
Adobe Stock again! Is there something I am missing to get rid of the watermark, or is that just the way these images are?
I re-posted just because I had forgotten to place the "Play @ Home," logo in the photo. Peace out.
Day 2 Challenge... playing catch up! 😔
Day 3 Challenge... Loving Everyone's Work... so creative and inspiring!
Day 3 Challenge
Day 3
Day 3-Gradient Masks. Check it out!
day 3 adjustment layers
day 2 (fashionably late as always)- layers and light play
Day 3 Challenge - Adjustment Layers. Thank goodness for the ability to replay @sterile bane 's video over-and-over-and-over...
Gave +1 Creative Carma to @sterile bane
Day 3 challenge. VR seemed appropriate for the Play at Home theme!
The image from Unsplash was pretty perfect to begin with so I feel like I cheated.
Day 3 - Adjustment Layers: "Zebra"
Any comments are welcome 🙂
Here's where i'm at with todays...yesterdays psd challenge!
Day 2 Layers Like my sun?
Day 3! Adjustments Layers 🙂
I wanted to try a few different adjustments. I was surprised that the “invert” didn’t have any options to mess with.
Just pressed buttons until I got this image. Obviously I don't know what I'm doing! 😂
🙈 #📣creative-challenges #day1
#📣creative-challenges #Day2
#📣creative-challenges #Day3
My Challenge 3 using adjustment layers, levels, curves, and blending modes. I used the same base subjects from my previous project and changed the backgrounds and gave my friend a blue face.
Another attempt...🤞
here are my version of the images sorry I didn't watch the video for the creative challenge yesterday
Day 3
Day 3 Challenge: Adjustment Layers
Day 3 Challenge. I'm finding it a great way to start my day. Better than sitting on a train commuting 😀
Challenge 3.
Challenge 3
Day 3. Is the gradient Blue too much?
Challenge#2
challenge #2 ideas!!!
Challenge #3
Adjestment Layer Challenge #3
day 3 #✂challenges-feedback thanks @sterile bane 😊
Gave +1 Creative Carma to @sterile bane
wow amazing @mellow crypt
thank you @trail field
your very welcome @mellow crypt
a bit late! sorry
wow amazing image @tepid sierra
Happy Friday!
Look at that, playing around i ended up like hulk!!!..maybe i really got radiation from computer these days!!!Challenge#3
@hollow yarrow Very nice. Why not move the text to have it span the two sides of the image?
Here is day 2 challenge. Surreal greenness in a desert.
@ruby panther great job, again!!!!!
Challenge 3. My wife has a shell-suit jacket thing that is particularly painful on the eyes so this colour scheme actually works well with it. Just don't tell her I said that.😀
Adjustment layers, comments welcome.
very Nice @south adder
DCC - Adjustment Layers. Any feedback would be appreciated 😊
@flat creek Not a good idea to post things with "dont tell my wife I said that'!!!🤣 🤣 🤣
@wind trellis Good job. I like the "intimidation" of the blue scheme, not so much the yellow. Also, the text color on the blue background got lost. Maybe a different color for that side?
Day 3 Challenge - gradient gradually growing on me - how is everyone getting the 'non standard' fonts for 'play @ home'? I want to change the starter file - but no idea how to????!!!
unfortunately no - I took a photo of a funky door at a portrait studio in Sydney. It's very cool right?!
@wanton token Yes it reminds me one of Infected Mushroom's album cover somehow.
@wanton token Click on the text tool. Use the pull arrow menu to choose a font. Click on the top right side of the pull down menu "Get more Fonts". It will take you to Adobe Fonts. If you're a CC member it's free.
Thanks champ - I'll try that now 😀
@wanton token Select the text layer and then select the text tool. Highlight the text you want to change with your cursor. You should have a drop down on the text tool that allows you to search through the different fonts or even add fonts from Adobe fonts.
Layers Adjustment - Gradient Challenge
Day 3
Challenge #3
2nd attempt 🙂
@wind trellis WOW, much better!!!! terrific!!!!
My Day 3: Layer Adjustment Image.
Thanks @eternal mica .. Thanks for the feedback, it was really helpful. It helps to step away and have a fresh look too.
Gave +1 Creative Carma to @eternal mica
Better late than never.
@wind trellis Up until a few weeks ago, when I did my 1st DCC, I had never really submitted my work to anyone or anywhere for critical review. Since joining DCC/Discord, I've been doing it daily. I've pretty much lost all the inhibitions I may have had about "my work's not good enough to be seen publicly." The support, encouragement, and advice I've received here has been truly energizing. I hope you experience the same feeling.
Day 3
Day 3
Blend Modes added hues to three different areas with little effort
@nova swan I really like the dog. I don't care much for the hard line between the yellow and the teal. I know it is how that gradient works, but I would add a layer of paint above that line and add a bit of a gaussian blur to it to have it blend the two colors together to soften that edge. You could also just take a selection of the area where they come together and put it on another layer and try the auto blend or again a blur setting. Just an idea.
@limpid egret It looks like it is left over from cutting out something. If you used a mask, then go over that line area with black on the mask. If you didn't mask it out, you will have to find the layer that it is on and erase it. Turn off all layers and turn them back on one at a time to find the problem. The other way is to take your glow layer and bring to the top over the problem, then add a mask in black (if it is all white just hit control I to invert, or go to the properties tab and hit invert) now paint with white where that line is to cover it up. Hope that helps.
@pulsar walrus Very vintage vibe on the one with the trees and fog. I like it. I would probably add in some grunge edges but it looks really neat.
Hello .. Challenge 3
@autumn blaze Very cute idea with the dog. I like the colors. You might want to take a layer over the top and paint with the same yellow whee the white light is on the dog. Look at overlay but try different ones and turn down the opacity to give the white just a bit of the yellow color. Just an idea. 🙂
@north ruin looks really good. Super California vibe
@sand patrol The gradient map is super addicting LOL
@primal fulcrum I totally agree. I love to edit my photos to be more edgy.....then i get so carried away. lol
@vernal ice I really like this. That is a tough one on the hat. Maybe crop it shorter and then it would possibly be seen as a symbol or something? I think gray is the right color. How bout if you extended the black line near the his back and dropped that black area straight down. I don't know if that would help. Cropping so there isn't so much of it would likely be the best if you can do that.
Here's mine. I had a lot of fun with this. Took me forever to decide on which picture to play with. And then again playing with different gradients for the gradient map. Tons of layers in this with lots of masks. I brought her eyes back and the bright yellow teeth got to me, so I brought back some white there. I used gradient map, gradient fill, blend if, and posterize. Different from my usual style but I really like it. Probably limited commercial usage but lots of fun anyway.
Hi, Here is my post as a DAY3.
Challenge 02 😄
@hollow yarrow Very nice. Why not move the text to have it span the two sides of the image?
Thanks for the comment@eternal mica . I wanted to slightly distort the text but keep it readable and give it depth by playing with the zebra neck.
Thanks again I appreciate.👍
Day 3 Challenge. I'm finding it a great way to start my day. Better than sitting on a train commuting 😀
Nicely done @twilit eagle!
Day 3 completed! Not sure if this 'works' but this is all new to me. Not sure what I do and don't like yet.
Great job @primal fulcrum The colors pop for me! 🙂
@sand patrol thanks!
Gave +1 Creative Carma to @sand patrol
If someone could show me how to do a side by side comparison for export because I turned this day time beach scene into night using adjustment layer and y'all can't compare and contrast. 😆
@primal fulcrum Thank you for the suggestions!!
Gave +1 Creative Carma to @primal fulcrum
Daily Challenge 4 wanted to use all of the starter files 😄
Challenge3 😀
I think the text is a little unneeded, but i want to keep it to keep consistency. what do you think?
I have it being simple. I used a gradient in the background to make it feel light-hearted
Day 4
Day 4
Day 3
@ruby forge Really like that deep shadow effect, creepy...
Day 3, me striking a pose
Day 3 - I had a time of it trying to get the selection right .What do you think? #✂challenges-feedback
Day 4, do you think this is to busy?
16-4-2020
Day 03 🙃
@light cipher I am loving the colors of your image
Day 4, do you think this is to busy?
@sturdy vault It's good! A lot is going on in the background. It overpowers the bunny picture frame. Try using colors that blends in the background, or probably turn the background into a pattern! Hope that helps 🙂
Day 4!
@young karma thanks, I tried making a frame of the background it didn't do what I wanted it to do. I will try using other color in my gradient map.
Gave +1 Creative Carma to @shadow tinsel
@young karma I almost used that shape, too!
@light cipher Wow, selection looks amazing - you can see all the tiny hairs near her forehead and everything! Really pretty.
Changed the background and enlarged the rabbit. Also increased the border a little. Thanks.
Trying to do a editorial high fashion arty thing... Dunno if I got all the way there, whatchu guys think?
Changed the background and enlarged the rabbit. Also increased the border a little. Thanks.
@sturdy vault That looks much better!

Trying to do a editorial high fashion arty thing... Dunno if I got all the way there, whatchu guys think?
@fathom holly I love it! I think you nailed it!
The "inside" frames were harder than they seemed for me.
@fathom holly I love it! I think you nailed it!
@young karma YES! Thank you, and a bonus thank you for giving me my first bit of feedback on here ❤️
Hello all, I'm a little late so I'm trying to catch up. Here is Day 1
Day 4!
@sterile bane I like the text included, subtle. Great to see you're doing another Fresco Sketch Party next week too 🥰
@sturdy vault thank you 😊
Gave +1 Creative Carma to @sturdy vault
Honu @ Laniakea Beach - Day 4 - Frame Tool. Any and all feedback welcome. 😁
Challenge 4. Managed to do this without frames as I only have Photoshop CS6 at home. I will have to try frames out when I am at work again! 🙂
Challenge 4: I took these photos at the 2016 Route 91 Harvest Festival
Day 4 Frames
Photo by Neemias Seara from Pexels
My day 4 project
Is there a way to view more than one open file in a work space at the same time?
Challenge 4 - Frame
I started trying to make something cool with the photo I used Yesterday, had a problem, made a mistake, and needing to start from scratch I decdided to go for another image. Instead of cool I went for weird. Title "Husband defragmentation". One of the images I create with my husband as model 😛. It was fun to play with the frame tool, I didn't know this one! Also find the inherited shapes.... 🙂
Challenge 4. I have never used the frame tool. It took me some time to figure out. Moon Jelly in the Wild by me. Doesn't quite work for this image. Will continue trying. Thank you for this opportunity!
Day 4
4-17-2020
hello all - here is my day 4! happy weekend
DS day 4
Day 4
@eternal mica you could try window - arrange and tile it
Trying to do a editorial high fashion arty thing... Dunno if I got all the way there, whatchu guys think?
@fathom holly Wow really good, it is interesting, the gradient adds to it... love it!
DS day 4
@spiral shadow It looks three dimensional, so interesting
Challenge 4. Managed to do this without frames as I only have Photoshop CS6 at home. I will have to try frames out when I am at work again! 🙂
@ionic maple You could fooled me.... it's very fashion, could imagine it as a magazine cover 🙂
@tropic knoll love that jellyfish - awesome pic!
ha ha @tender crane - great theme for an image ... especially after 4 weeks of lockdown with the family!
@hearty wharf Thanks, thats exactly what I was looking for.
Gave +1 Creative Carma to @hearty wharf
Challenge 4
ha ha @tender crane - great theme for an image ... especially after 4 weeks of lockdown with the family!
@hearty wharf Thanks!!
@eternal mica sure, either turn off view in tabs or go to window/arrange and pick something there. I can't stand to work in tabbed view as it is too hard to resize that way. Also a neat trick if you don't know, is to go to window and open another instance of your current image. It is not a copy or duplicate like other methods. This allows you to zoom way in on the one you are working on, but keep the other one zoomed out so you can see what your changes are really doing to the overall image. It is easy to get lost in the pixels when zoomed in a lot. You could be doing work that will never show when zoomed out 🙂
our internet is off and on for the last 3 days so I wasn't able to rewatch, which I evidently needed to. I found this interesting with able to use shapes instead of just the circle or square but I couldn't seem to get nested ones to line up right. I'll try to rewatch and see what I must have missed because right now, I know of easier ways to do this. And a competitors program that is WAY easier. But whatever. here it is.
PSdailychallenge nr 3, most difficult part was the selection tool in CS6
Day 4 / day 24 of quarantine
Challenge 2 - #✂challenges-feedback PSdailychallenge
Hey all here is my Day 2 work
Challenge#4: Frames... My poor puppy lol!
day 4! tell me what to u think. 😃
Day 3 challenge. I'm not sure how suitable the color grading on my subject
Last nights challenge, getting to today’s later!
Hello.. Challenge 4
Challenge 4.
Day 4 - Frame Project
Day 4, do you think this is to busy?
@sturdy vault yes, a bit too many textures
Challenge 4.
@worn yew This is so nice, really cool sphere effect
@thorny spruce nice one. The dog looks so sad poor thing ..
@worn yew oh wow that is another level. Love it
Day 5 - Frames
PSDCC #4 Frame Tool
Day4 Final
ok I don't know how to put two images as a before and after... this is the AFTER. DOHA at night
this is before. challenge one a bit behind
shanghai after day one
@hearty wharf Thank you! Was one of those luck shots.
Gave +1 Creative Carma to @hearty wharf
I'm a day behind. Here's my Day 3 final. What is the name of the font used for play @ home?
Here is my Day 3 project
day two, slowly catching up.
fun one. I figured out the watermark thing, ugh.😩
here is my day 4! I've never used the frame tool before and I will definitely be using it more often now that I actually understand it lol
Had a lot of issues with this one. Somehow, it appears I have a gradient map on the figure, but it in not indicated on my Layers panel. Also, on the final layer, When I tried to paint out the P on the figures shoulder, I only got a big black splotch! Help!
Day 3: Using Frames. What do you think of the colors? I think there's something "off" about this composite, but can see what at the moment. Jar flower from PixelSquid; rest from Pixabay.
Not really happy with it, but had a hard time with shapes and getting them to convert to frames. Apparently is has to be a certain layer type, else the convert is either greyed out, or not even available.
day 4 completed 👍
Challenge 4!
@onyx fable only 24? wow. Last time I was able to attend any gathering at all was March 10th!
@calm jay I think it is illegal to remove the watermark. if you purchase the license for it, it won't have any watermark.
@jade swift that usually means you were on the layer and not the mask. Be sure the white outline is around the mask to edit it.
day four! felt a little pink and floral today haha
I revised my Day 3 image a little. I like this one better
This is what I came up with so far. Still need to work on my masks and getting the main photo to show through the shapes.
The only shapes I had were, trees, animals, boats and flowers. No custom or Legacy shapes?
Challenge #4 Frames. For some reason, I couldn't get Frames to work for me, but the idea works for now.
Day 4's challenge! Tried to create a project for all of our current situation. Used the frame tool for the letters. A gradient on top of the letters. Then a gradient on the background & downloaded shatter glass paintbrushes. What do you all think??
Daily Challenge #4 ✨
bull, daily challenge #4
@sacred field Go to the Very top of the PS page and click Window then click Shapes. That should give you the option to load Legacy Shapes. 😎 BTW, you can NEVER go wrong with EC!
Day 4! I could play with this tool all day
Challenge 4; What do you think?
Day 4. Missing Vermont so much.
just mucked around with shadows of legs and added highlights and blends- not sure if it worked but its interesting?
Day4 - Frames : "Dream @ Home"
Kinda late, but here's my take. #💎past-challenge #latetothegame
Daily Challenge #4 #✂challenges-feedback
@mellow crypt nice, in some test I tried Frames with borders and didn't like the result, yours looks great.
@trail glacier interesting!
@sacred field yes you can add them going to shapes pannel, in the menu there you have the option to add them. https://community.adobe.com/t5/photoshop/legacy-custom-shapes-in-photoshop-2020/td-p/10727508?page=1&profile.language=es
@sacred field Anyway you found a way to get a good result out of the actual shapes 😉
@grim mantleyes, you need to create the layes specifically by selecting the shape tool, if you create more than one shape when you select the layers and right clic on the name of one you'll also have a combine shape layers (or something like that) to have them all in one. And the option to convert to frame available. Hope it helps 😉
@forest aspenI like the colours and result. Makes me think of spring. Maybe another pic with white flowers will help, the jar pic is very different. Might be the thing off. Imho. But still looks good 😉
@primal fulcrum i just said 24 but i don't really know the day, but now that I think about it I think they closed the restaurants on March 16th? so and then everything just accelerated and idk when the actual lock down started
@primal fulcrum I'm in LA btw , where are you?
challenge 4 frames
Challenge 1 - Blend Modes - Trying hard to catch up with all the challenges #✂challenges-feedback Expert feedback appreciated. Thank you! 🙂
😍 My first challenge of this set
This was a ton of fun... and a little bit of work.... I can't wait till Monday and see what new stuff we get to learn.
Challenge 4. Using the frame tool.
Challenge#3 - Adjustment Layers. I'm a little behind, but I'll catch up soon. I'm so happy to finally understand how these clipping masks work. Thank you!
😁 thank you @tender crane
Gave +1 Creative Carma to @tender crane
@sacred field I have the same tools. Does anyone know how to get more simple shapes?
@zinc elbow you can add the ones it had in earlier versions https://community.adobe.com/t5/photoshop/legacy-custom-shapes-in-photoshop-2020/td-p/10727508?page=1&profile.language=es
@tender crane Many thanks x

@grand grove , this has a Samus (from Metroid) vibe to it, especially the exterior elements!
Challenge 4. I took it a bit in my own direction using custom shapes. I tried to use the pen tool to create a shape then a frame but couldn't get it to work. I'll keep trying.
@ruby panther , this has helped me with the understanding of the Pen Tool:

Day4 - Frames : "Dream @ Home"
Day4 - Frames : "Dream @ Home"
@hollow yarrow, really enjoyed this. It has an Illustrator feel to it!
@patent estuary Thanks. The problem I was having with the pen tool was I had no fill so converting it to a frame did not work. Figured it out though.
Gave +1 Creative Carma to @patent estuary
@grand grove , this has a Samus (from Metroid) vibe to it, especially the exterior elements!
@patent estuary Sorry, I did not understand 🤔
@ruby panther, I tried frames, but unfortunately my school's laptop only goes up to 'CC 18, and doesn't let me update. So I can create custom shapes, use the pen tool, and layer masks for now.
https://tenor.com/view/pensiveface-gif-4425081
@grand grove,
My reference was from a game called, "Metroid".
https://i.pinimg.com/originals/92/43/61/9243613ca2571d75fbac1934be3c764e.jpg
and this is Samus out of her "suit".

@grand grove, I'm a big gamer, and that was first thought. +1 for game nostalgic revisit down memory lane!
@patent estuary 😂 Nice thing ... yes you are right
@grand grove, you should also check out characters and cosplayers from other games such as Halo, Destiny, Titanfall, or even Pacific Rim..if not anything, just to give some direction if you're into combining elements that are armor/robotic in nature.
As a complete novice - this was a little harder than I expected
Thoughts? Which do you prefer - Angels or Monkeys??
play@home , this is what i learn using shapes , it's a good challenge 👍 😀
Thanks for the help! This is my 2nd entry for day 4.
@hollow yarrow, really enjoyed this. It has an Illustrator feel to it!
Thank you @patent estuary ... You are absolutly right: shapes and lines were made in Illustrator and used as frames in the PSD file.
Day 4 challenge
MrFiend1sh, this command is disabled in this channel
Updated version of Challenge 4. Added a photo as a background instead of a colour gradient.
Here is Day 4's Challenge. I wasn't feeling good yesterday so I am doing it now. What do you think? 🙂 Everyone's submissions are beautiful!
Day 4 Challenge
DCC - Frame Tool. Any feedback would be appreciated 😀
@haughty moth No problem and thank you......Better?
Gave +1 Creative Carma to @haughty moth
This is a great tool, I had no idea existed. Thanks. I kept this kind of simple, I'm not sure if the text plays too much with the polygons?
@short mica oh my gosh! It's even more gorgeous now
heyaa :)) hope you are all good!
i did the frame challenge and for some reason - whenever i created the frame , some of the images i dropped - they fit the frame, some just didnt and went full on the whole screen and i have no idea why that is :?
but here is what i managed to do anyways :))
@ocean pine I really like the colouring and composition. I'm trying to think if there was anything you could have done differently with the text...The colour is great, maybe a different position or size? Great work.
PS daily challenge nr 4, no frame tool in CS6 so played with fonts
@haughty moth Your responsible!1... And way too generous; thank you so much stay safe stay healthy 🕊️
Gave +1 Creative Carma to @haughty moth
A little late but this is number one completed....
Also a bit behind the times but here it is for day one.
First time using frame tool! The shapes are a real mess, but... at least it was fun!😅
Hi, I can only get trees, flowers, wild animals and boats in my 'custom shape' tool! How do I get all the regular shapes?
@proven fox I posted a step by step on #❓ask-a-question channel, here's the link for the message 🙂 https://discordapp.com/channels/547473772727238676/548246314383835146/701039034868301856
Thank You!
you beat me to it @coral stone LOL I was searching a link where it explaines it too 🙂
😂
It's a little bit tricky because you have to go to the shapes panel to restore the legacy shapes. Not on the custom shapes on the toolbar 😆
Yeah I have the same problem yesterday while watching the challenge, and someone helped me too 🙂 a little hidden but at least they are still there... like the brushes, had a hard time with those too when they dissapeard
Me too 😂
That moment when you go mask something and want to use some of them and shout out "where the.... they put the brushes!!! I need them!!!" LOL
Some optical effect...
Some optical effect...
@low citrus That looks really cool, I like it, even when it mades me a little dizzy 😛
@tender crane Ahah, true! I think it just works well with the image, since the model kinda framed the head with her arm.😄 😅
@onyx fable I'm up the coast in Washington state.
@tender crane Ahah, true! I think it just works well with the image, since the model kinda framed the head with her arm.😄 😅
@low citrus Yes that is what my husband said when he saw the image, it really works with her posing, well done 🙂
@zinc elbow google free PS shapes. you should find a ton online to download.
@primal fulcrum thanks 😉
Gave +1 Creative Carma to @primal fulcrum
@forest aspen I think the text blends in too much. If it were me, i would also exchange the right and left panels so the hard straight edge of the jar is not on the outside of the image. Just a thought. Also your blacks don't look like they match.
@ruby panther when you use the pen tool, look up at the top and you will find a little drop down menu. Be sure that you have it set to "shape" and not path.

@golden badge hey mate , what did you mean ?
@young karma “Cracking” is a term used in the UK which means really fantastic! So the day 4 image is really fantastic in my thinking 👍

@hollow falcon Wow, I love that. How did you get those effects? And your shading is beautiful
@left abyss Nice work
@final trench I love the concept. I really like the final
@rare radish Im not sure if anyone answered you yet. Kathleen said very quickly at the beginning of her process that you could size the frame to whatever you'd like, and also use the transform tool. I think if you play the video again and pay attention to that at the very beginning,, you'll see how you can make any image fit the frame and shape you select.
@low citrus really great idea, great execution
@cold oyster I like the effect. Is there a way to add in your logo, or do you think it would ruin the effect?
Day 3 with the graphic
day 4.
My Day #4 at creative Challenge. Yes, no, maybe? What do you think?

@young karma Thank you so much for your comment and "love what you see" emoji. It is greatly appreciated.

@untold gust I like the layout a lot and it is interesting how you got each circle to have its' own gradient color.
@scenic pine Thank you for recognizing my work. I'd like to say your framework for the challenge came out awesome. It gives it a kaleidoscope kind of effect that works really well. I think the first version works the colors the best.
Gave +1 Creative Carma to @scenic pine
@young karma Beautiful work! Your use of different shape frames and the gradient from right to left really showcase the photo well.
Photoshop Frame Challenge, just messing around with old photographs.
Thanks, @young karma. Since most of the frames in the video were diamonds or squares, I thought I would give circles a try.
Gave +1 Creative Carma to @gritty dust
Very cool design for day 4, @young karma. The custom shape at the bottom to show her neck works really well!
Tahnks for the feedback, @twilit shore. Getting the frames sized right for each successive ring was the hard part. Once the frames were placed, adding the gradients on each level was the easy part, and I had some fun trying different ones out to get the right look.
@twilit shore, I like the unique shapes you used for your frames. Lots of good use of the custom shape tool to create that design around the photo.
@golden badge, I like the colors in the skyline in your Day 1 submission, and the green in the center stands out well.

I don't know what is this but here we go.. challenge 4 😅 I was a bit confused with the custom tool because I have only 2 or 3 different tools/shape. How did you do ?
Simple but fun
Hey @young karma, you did it so will, it’s just some tools all of us use, maybe the princess is different and each person have his spirit 😉😉 well done

challenge 4 - well it was supposed to be using the framing tool but I got as far as customise shape in the form of the boat and then ended up playing around with the patterns and brushes I captured in adobe capture..I had a very nice time 👍
@celest solar Yes. Suggestion: put the two B&W on the outside and the color in the middle.
@scenic pine I like your piece a lot. I think the first is a little better. The white doesnt seem to fit. Just me.
Challenge 3
@shut trout Your work continues to amaze. Your concepts and execution are really top notch. To me, they seem like complex jobs., with lots of elements. Thanks for posting.

@hollow yarrow I love the last one, the blue / gray one. It’s beautiful!
@hollow yarrow I had to think about whether I liked #2 or #3 better, since both had original shapes that catch the eye. I think #3 is my favorite since you can recognize more of the photo within the frames there. However, the coloring on your frames on #2 is pretty good as well.

@true holly Wow
Challenge 4: Dave King: Always look on the bright side of life. Any thoughts? There are a few bare spots I'm noticing. Once I got used to it, a really interesting tool, learned so much!
@tired karma RE: Play forever...Right? These take me a while, half cause I'm learning a new skill and half cause I keep going, "Oooo but what if I did this..."
Challenge #3 - Adjustment Layers
Playing catch-up - Challenge 4 : Frames - I actually enjoyed learning this. never used it. Could be a cool documentary/drama or play
@safe ledge Really cool colorful style with the Day 3 challenge! I really like the high key look of the flower against the more intensely colored background. It might be nice to brighten up the text a bit closer to white (maybe a similar color as the lightest area of the flower) to help that thinner text read a bit more. Looks good!
@obtuse topaz This pattern is really cool! It adds a lot of interest in the way it breaks up the image. The text fits really nicely with the design. The monochromatic blue and white of the designs gives it a really clean and cohesive feel. 👍
@young karma Ooh, really great effect with that triangle shape. I really like how you kept the most contrast within that shape and the image offset is a nice effect. My only thought is if you reversed the background gradient so the darker area is up top it might help the text read a little more clearly and evenly. Really nice work!
@daring slate Very cool Trish! You got some nice depth with this image and I like how you varied the contrast between the images so they get gradually more eye-catching with the forefront image being a nice focal point, looks good!
@vernal ice Really interesting mix between pattern/graphic elements and the photo! If by bare spots you mean the areas of the photo up top I think those less busy areas give the image a nice balance. There might be too much going on everywhere otherwise. Nice work!
@split vigil Nice! Day 1-3 are looking really cool, I like how you have a bit of a visual consistency with the bright color palettes on these. I think they all have an interesting and successful mood/feel to them!
@restive shoal The gradient effect in this is looking really neat, I like how the hat kind of blends into the background. There’s some nice contrast maintained in the face which makes for a nice focal point. Cool effects in this design!
@frosty anvil Ooh, really nice concept for the Day 3 design! The masking adds some really nice depth and the tilt of the text is a nice touch. There’s a nice consistency between the value of the text and the person as well!
@restive wyvern Really cool effect with this Challenge 2 design! Kind of a tippy surreal feeling with the inverted background image and the starry effects in the center. Really liking the color scheme of this one. Challenge 1 is looking solid as well!
@jaunty orchid Challenge 4 is looking good! I like the soft contrast of this whole design, and the diagonal placement adds some nice interest to it. 👍
@true holly This is great! Really nice concept. The focus and even color contrast really help draw the eye well in this image.
@tired karma Very cool! It’s always awesome to just take a challenge and run with it, playing around with them in different ways is always the best way to learn I think. You got some really great effects with this design. Really nice cohesive color palette, interesting designs, and it all still has a strong focal point with the face. Really well done!
@winter tinsel Really interesting design, I like the variety in contrast you got with the different elements. Really interesting collage type of feel from this. Nice visual consistency to the image!
@rapid silo Looks good Danish! I really like the colors you got in this image! It would be interesting to see the original or any other images used. Really great mood to these colors and the texture adds a lot of interest. The text fits in really nicely too!
@hollow yarrow These designs turned out really well! Great sense of dimension and texture in these shapes. I really like how you got two drastically different looks with these two designs. I really like the white/blue one especially. The offset effect on the text is a really nice touch too!
Challenge 4
Any feedback for my last few projects, will be greatly appreciated! Thank you 😃
@restive wyvern loving all three images 👍

Hey guys, used Kendall Plant's image just like the one in the tutorial. I'm also combining some of the techniques from the other days. Just mindblown from frames last week...never knew it existed.
Also, i've been used to previous photoshop versions - did 2020 change the way you select and move items and layers? I noticed that when I create shapes and convert to frame - it's taking the image layer beneath, and i wanted to drag an image into it. I'm also getting issues selecting like the "play at home text" when I have the layer select - I have to use the transform tool.
@tender crane Ok 😃 I’ll message you my options.
I whanted to make photo warmer (maybe for postcard)
this is my version of the image 😀

@spiral shadow Really cool! Hmm, I don't think it's too much, since there seems to be a nice visual concentration towards the center, with the sky and bottom area being darker and less detailed. But sometimes if I want to play around with focusing contrast I'll use a multiply layer for a sort of darkening/vignette effect or even giving the image a slight blur effect to look out of focus slightly and mask out the area I want to stay in sharp focus. I don't think this one really needs it but it's always something you can play with!
@young karma Really great photo! I like the intensity of the neon lights, and your adjustment seems to push that even further. I think the text style fits really nicely, though I wonder if moving it slightly up and to the right would make it feel a little less crowded, unless that feel is what you were going for. Looks good!
@restive shoal I really like the perspective on the text and the blue of the road looks really good! Nice job on the masking. I think you could probably push the perspective of the text even further if you want it to look flat on the road. Nice work on the Day 5 challenge 👍
@hollow yarrow Great job on the lighting effects in the Day 5 image! The glow and light beam of the lamp, and the way the ground and side area is lit all look very believable and natural. It does a great job of silhouetting the figure too. The lighting definitely transforms the mood of the image, very well done!
@weary wharf I love what you did with the lighting here! The boost of saturation to the colors of the scene adds a lot of interest and you did a really nice job of brightening the figure and drawing more focus to them. Nicely done!
@snow abyss Cute dog
@wind trellis Really interesting photo! Kind of makes me think of that neon glowy paint or something. The intense color gives the image a sort of surreal feeling. The text fits nicely too!
@restive wyvern Very nice changes! The color shift and more subdued values make it look a lot more cinematic for whatever reason which is a really nice effect. Looks good!
@chilly hawk Looking good! I really like the depth that masking adds, and I realy like that the color you chose seems to match the environment rather than being fully black. Really helps it fit in the scene. I think maybe the sun shape could have a bit more of a bright center, but at the same time I feel like the more subdued value works too. Nice work!
@queen dew Nice work Paul, I think the brighter colors really change the feel of this image! I’m liking the style of font for this one too, nice job!
@eternal mica Nice work on the adjustments Ted! The bolder colors and contrast really make the whole image a lot more visually interesting. Nice concept with the logo too 👍
challenge 4
@grim mantle Nice work, the matching red of the text fits nicely within this photo. It would be nice to see the unedited image to see the changes, but this version definitely has some nice contrast and colors. Nice job 😄
@stable ravine That's great Chris! Always great to pick up new tips and tricks. This all reads very well and you did a great job of brightening up the man's face. If I had to make a tiiiiny nitpick it's that it might be nice to move the text over a couple notches so the white text doesn't tangent with the white sign to the left. Nicely done!
@restive mountain I think the graininess actually kind of works to some degree. I think when an image doesn't have enough light it can be tough to avoid the graininess past a certain point. But it definitely helps this image and gives it some clarity. Though perhaps the text could be a bit bigger or more clear? It's a bit tough to read at a glance. Nice work!
@young karma Looking good, I really like what you did with the colors for the Day 5 challenge! Definitely adds some interest 👍
@split swift Really interesting color effects on this Day 5 challenge! The shift between the two sides of the images gives it some nice contrast. I like the way you maintained the color of the lights and reflected that in the text!
@snow abyss Those color changes are looking really solid! Really transforms the image and gives it a much more upbeat and professional feel. Looks great.
@young karma This is really interesting with how you used shapes in the Day 4 design and broke the frame up, really cool! One thing I noticed is that there’s a lot of different colors going on in this design. It might look good to mirror the pink and green from the photo into the triangle’s frames to repeat the colors and give the design a cohesive feel. Though that’s really just personal preference. Nice job!
@twilit eagle Somehow your edit is looking like a Van Gogh's painting 👨🎨
@rain dew Thanks 😀 After doing a basic edit to the image I wanted a way to highlight the reflections. I played with curves to get the effect I was after.
DCC - here is my try on this photo 😄

@bleak fossil Sam, thanks for the comment. I value your input. I have a question. When I applied the mask, I could not get the image to be highlighted in red so I could see where I was painting. Once I unclicked what I was painting, the area turned red. Did I miss a setting?
DCC - Photo Editing 😀
@obtuse topaz Your image is magical. One suggestion, move/resize the text. I feel its in too prominent a position in the image. Perhaps lower left corner?
@bleak fossil Thank you for the feedback. Ya the text positioning is a bit off i'll work on it.
@eternal mica thanks for suggestion, does this look better now?
challenge 5 😎
Hey @balmy drum how are you ? actually I check the brush tool in camera row filter, it work normally just the mask is different, I f you did not solve by you just let me know to figure it out.
@young karma I'll get back to you.
Final one 😃 Day 05 @sterile bane I'm highly appreciate your opinion 😃
@young karma :Really nice picture! Well done!

Day 4 challenge!
@weary wharf : Well done! Nice gradient map processing. I love the center of your image, It looks like a Salvador Dali piece.👍
@hollow yarrow Honestly the work is amazing, you did so nice atmosphere in image, well DONE, in my perspective i found the source of the light is faraway from the person. In addition the person in the right of the main person has another source of light and the side which must have a light we found it so dim and I thing to improve it just we need to take the main source of the light out of image border and give some light on the right person. For the Play @ Home deal with it as a logo to not make a noise in the image, mean's leave it white.
Which image you like from my 3 images for Challenge 05?
wish you a nice day.
@eternal mica easily wonderful, well Done 💪

Thank you so much for this constructive feedback@young karma . My favorite of your 3 compositions is the last one ( splited one). Is it a "before and after" image or a "two different adjusments" on the same artwork?
The B&W&R is not far because and this picture is well balanced and the Red accent gives some punch. Simple but terribly efficient.
The night effect one is well done too!
Best regards!😉
Did I brighten the flag too much or does it work as it is?
Thank you @hollow yarrow for the thumbs up, it is greatly appreciated.
Gave +1 Creative Carma to @hollow yarrow
@young karma Your inset, with the day and night, did you make a day shot look like night or was it a night shot made into day. Either way, very impressive.
Day 5 Camera Raw edit. It was a very dark, unexposed image so I worked mainly on pulling the highlights up to make the light outside the main focus. I brushed over the two pillars in the background to exaggerate the brightness beyond them, through the door.
Picture Clicked by me .

I really appreciate your feedback @hollow yarrow It was the Idea to make before and after like when I code that in the website but after it's come another Idea of two adjustment and put the moon and stars behind in the depth or vanishing point, I will send it to you the original. the first one I did it before maybe three or four years ago, for The B&W&R am a big fan for that's type of art ;)

Some lights adjustments... Thank you @young karma for your feedbacks.
@obtuse topaz Oh yeah!!! I think so. What do you think???

@eternal mica Yeah I think it does look better , thanks once again for the idea!!!

Camera Raw.
Decided to keep the adjustments on the path, and desaturate everything else.
@eternal mica It depends how you're doing it. For example, if you just create a layer mask and use black and white to mask and unmask it you won't see the red. However if you use something like the quick selection tool and click "Select and mask" at the top, you'll see the red. And if you don't, you can change the appearance settings near the top right since red will be one of a handful of viewing options. Let me know if that solves the issue or if I'm misunderstanding.
@bleak fossil Thanks Sam. I'll check out your suggestion right after today's DCC session with Kathleen.

@patent estuary I'll have a look if I can take a suitable shot. If not, you are right
@cerulean bay, we are all artists, and can take the ordinary and make it extra-ordinary! The glass is either half full or half empty.

Gonna have to go for my daily exercise tomorrow with camera in hand!! Already been out today.
Hey you guys...I took an image from Unsplash.com (by illia-cherednychenko) from a cityscape of my hometown. This is a modified cityscape as per today's exercise. I knew the pen tool from photoediting images from working in an architecture office. but really enjoying @sterile bane showing us the beauty of Gradient and Solid Colour layers; even the frames.
Challenge 6: Pen Tool - That was a fun project!
When Kathleen masked yesterday's challenge, her whole photo turned red and she erased where she wanted to make changes. When I try it, I put the mask on and nothing changes, but when I choose the area to adjust, it colors that red for me to make changes. Why is it opposite of hers? Anyone know what I may be doing wrong??
Today's Challenge
@twilit shore youre the 3rd person to post the same issue. I did and @balmy drum did also. Sam gave me the following suggestion. I havent had a chance to test it out yet. @eternal mica It depends how you're doing it. However if you use something like the quick selection tool and click "Select and mask" at the top, you'll see the red. Day 6
Hi there! This is my image for Day 6,
it's my photo made in my city, TORINO. Hope you like it. CIAO! From ITALY
Day 6 - New York
@twilit shore you are so welcome, that’s the answer of your question, in this way you will be able to make what Kathleen did, to make the red area not select and when you draw with the brush you will be focus on the area which you would to edit it 😀😀😀

i am sorry, i am lagging behind a bit.😅 . I just finished yesterday's challange.
this is the original one
Day 6 - Houston, TX
What do you think?
What do you think?
@balmy drum like the colors. I would try to use only one flower for the mask. Composition is a bit disturbing for the eye

@cerulean bay I'll fix it
What do you think?
@balmy drum very inventive it is cleverly produced the colours are strong but when you look into them then the story unfolds ... I like 👍
Ironically I didn't have a good skyline of my city. So I used this from a travel to Vienna. Let me know if you like it! (added part of the sky as it was in landscape format and didn't fit well in the template)

@golden badge I like the colors a lot
One more time. @cerulean bay How about now?

Challenge #6 PenTool: I used the pen tool primarily on the bridge and the van to the left of the bridge. Used the Select tools for the buildings. Gradient layers on the Buildings and Bridge. Texture on the sky.

@odd spear,
Hi from Houston, well, Humble. I grew up in Houston for 28 years of my life in Third Ward.

Wow nice 👍🏼, If I may, i have one improvement, It we be so great if you can reach an adjustment between 1 and two, make the pink color on the car “feather” it disappear smoothly from the green area. 😉
#✂challenges-feedback day three - feedback would be awesome sauce 🍝 I feel like the light source/peachy tones possibly should be coming from the opposite corner based on the shadows on the jumping dude? 🧐
catching up a little but enjoying what I'm learning so far, here is day 2 followed by day 3
@grave nova I love this. I love your work. I enjoy your creativity.
@analog parrot Hey Jissi... nice work but i have an improvement suggestions if I may, 1- make more effort for the selection object, now es so easy for hair for little things etc... if you can add the same gradient on the object, it will be like a light of environment and change the blend mode of this gradient it, therefore will be so realistic 😉 of you need any help just ring the bell 🔔 😉
@young karma thanks for your suggestions, much appreciated! I'll definitely go back in and have another go at getting a better selection, and have another play with the gradients. Thanks! ✌️
