This was a very hard one!
Photoshop Daily Creative Challenge - Curves Adjustment Layer Day-3
https://www.behance.net/gallery/94048177/Photoshop-Daily-Creative-Challenge-16-27-March-2020
@river bison Not wrong! But I think you have done a good job there.
@young karma thanks👌
Fieldhockey from Holland. I am going to use this image voor the #stayathome challenge
Challenge 3 Ver. 2. Thanks for the feed back. @lethal mural
Gave +1 Creative Carma to Jesús Ramirez
Tried the #✂challenges-feedback number 3 with this image of gaelic football (I'm from Ireland!). Learning a lot from these challenges 🙂
Took it into a more graphic direction!!! Also a little inspired by an earlier challenge with Kladi (the cover image). Here is my day 3 challenge!
@bleak fossil Thank you for your kind words on this one. I’m going to have to get some advice on the masking of a subject and painting with black to reveal areas. I couldn’t get it to work for this image. But thank you again! I learned a lot.
Gave +1 Creative Carma to SamPetersonArt
@vivid nest I like your image and the way that the foreground image stands out. Have you tried making the skin tone more of a blue hue to match the night theme?
Hi guys. Seems like there is a huge community here which is really awesome. I made a tweaks myself to the challenge raw material. Hopefully i did what they challenge required me to do.
Made a few lightning changes. Sorry for repost.
originals
challenge #3 layer styles. Hope I learn an easier way to edit masks. if I was painting on the mask layer, I was painting blind because I couldn't figure out how to see what was below. There HAS to be a better way. How? @bleak fossil or @lethal mural
Day 2! This one was fun. Needs more work but I learned a bunch of new tricks. Thanks @lethal mural
Gave +1 Creative Carma to Jesús Ramirez
Challenge 3 💥
@primal fulcrum with alt+click mask becomes visible (althoug the image becomes invisible). Ctrl+click shows a selection of the mask, while leaving the image as it is. Also if you click once on the image (not the mask) and hold any selecting tool, you can click on "Select and Mask" or "Refine mask" (dependng on the PS version you have) option on the tool bar, this options gives you several ways to view the mask and the image and modify it. Hope it helps!
Day 3 Challenge 3 - Layer Styles - Sports Poster #✂challenges-feedback. Feedback from experts appreciated for improvement 🙂
Day 3 Layer Styles new version. Thanks @bleak fossil

@plain sable Ooh, looks great! Loving the intensity of those colored rays 😄
Thanks @bleak fossil Lots of guilt free time to play with this with my shelter at home 🙂

@fallen elm are they jpeg images? it is showing unknown file
I could not install Discord on my laptop so I installed it on my iPad. While in Ps, I send the image to the apple photo library and then to the discord on the iPad. Very complicated ans it dozens not work...
It is a .psd file
@fallen elm try sending as jpeg to ipad and then to discord
How do I do that 🤗

Day 4. Text Layers challenge
@latent pebble Got it. Thanks

DAY 4😃
DAY 4
My attempt to enhance Chicharito in Black and White - it was a very welcomed approach to dodge and burn. I didn't even work hard on the light and dark selections and still was an effective application - thank you Jesus
Why cant I see the stream on youtube?
DCC day 4 - text layers
Good question @young karma I’m not sure. But you can still find it on Behance here: https://www.behance.net/live/videos/4929/Photoshop-Daily-Creative-Challenge-Text-Layers?tracking_source=to_replay
Week 1 design challenge!
Day 4 - text layers
Challenge 4 of this week!
Challenge 3 - layer styles....Feeling a bit flat today but just writing the word yay and in the context of this pic made me laugh. yay
Here is my day 3 challenge. I didn't make the black and white layers (effect) quite as strong because the photo was pretty muted to begin with. Not sure about the type either. Thoughts?
@young karma YouTube has the replays. See the live on Behance. See and join the chat only on Behance
@primal fulcrum Ya the replay was not showing up, but I got it now
@young karma it isn't instant. It usually takes about 30 minutes to show up there from what I have seen
@young karma I did try most of those and didn't find them particularly helpful. But I didn't try that refine mask option. That red is annoying but I guess better than painting blind, which is what I did. Thanks
Gave +1 Creative Carma to Guga
Day 4 challnge
Thank you Jesus for teaching these techniques. Here's my attempt.
I thought the vignette looked awful so I fixed it. Hopefully this looks better.
PSDCC #3 Layer Styles
Here's my attempt took some time to adjust the bokeh effect
Challenge 4
@young karma found it! For some reason it is called Density instead of opacity. That let me do what I was trying to do which was make the mask more see through so I could see where I was painting.
Awesome @primal fulcrum !!! 🎉
Champagne Party! 😈
Any means to filter the current-challenge postings by which challenge they are in response to? I'm delayed in following the challenges, working from the videos. Would like to be able to just look at the posts pertaining to the challenge I'm working on. Perhaps this would me challenge specific discord channels?
Challenge#4: Text Layers
@wide ridge there is a search window in the upper right but it´s not very good for what you want. Although you might try searching "Challenge 2" and you might get some results to check other people´s work!
Challenge 4: It took me a while to use the techniques with good results! I´m just amazed of all the things I don´t know can be done in PS, even if I have used it over many years!!!!
Not professional but happy to try new techniques! #Challenge04
@young karma thanks for the reply. The postings are not consistently tagged, but I'll give your suggestion a try. I've not used Discord before so I have much to learn about the app, and getting what is most relevant to me from the fire hose of stuff pouring through it.
Gave +1 Creative Carma to Guga
Day 1
@formal ravine That looks really cool! There's still a bit of Cyan left on the girls that I would try to filter out.
@cyan terrace I really love your text effect! What did you use?
@viscid matrix awesome, thanks for the feedback!! I'll try it out!
Gave +1 Creative Carma to haleybird
@short mica You source image already has so much cool stuff going on - I think the new effects, like the bokeh, can be much more subtle. Also you're covering the subject's face with your text - I recommend moving it much lower or higher. Love the theme though! Had the same thought 😉
@spiral apex That looks so great. I love the text!
@young karma Really dig the removal of the background. Really makes you feel like she's dancing out on the floor! I would make the bokeh bigger and remove the one that's going up her nostril! haha!
update #2 thanks @viscid matrix - I think it's a little better!
Gave +1 Creative Carma to haleybird
@foggy leaf Realllllly dig your text here. Only suggestion would be to have it fade a bit more in the center of the text over her face, so you can still see her!
@formal ravine Yeah that looks REALLY dope. Great work. There's a bit of cyan left on the left girl's shoulder - For a quick fix, you can just do a new layer on top of the girls' layer and paint it yellow over where her arm is, then attach it to the layer below with layer effect set to "color". Only other nitpick would be to decrease the background blur in the foreground closest to the girls - it feels too blurred compared to how sharp they are.
Day 3: "Sports" Poster - the player is from Pixabay and the background from AdobeStock
I have a question. Soon as I add the layer to do the gaussian blur to "colorize" the bokah in today example I loose the ability to do any image "adjustments". What am I doing wrong here. Help me @lethal mural please! 😂
Or maybe it is working I have no idea... haha
@bleak fossil I made the changes to the blur motion effect as you asked as well as some fine tuning.
upload #3! @viscid matrix Thanks for your advice, I tried the yellow but it just wasn't coming out right so I just made her sleeve black instead haha. But I adjusted some of the overall color of the photo too & updated it.
Gave +1 Creative Carma to haleybird
@formal ravine Looks so good!
@true holly Trying to figure out what exactly is happening. Like, you add gaussian blur but then can't make any further adjustments? You can always make the image a smart object first and then anything you do will be adjustable. Or is there something more nefarious happening?
i am sure it is something that I am doing. Though I don't know what exactly it is or how to explain it
@viscid matrix The text is placed there to hide an imperfection that got past me ,when I was transforming and flipping and all that good stuff.....
No doubt I have a heavy hand....it's same the kitchen 🤣
I appreciate your time and feedback.. have a great safe weekend 🕊️
@short mica You too, J!
The block layer is very light, I can hardly see them. The text looked fine on my computer. I changed it below. 🥴
Here an old photo of the band of my friend The Maureens. Check them on spotify! they are great!
Challenge Day3_Sports Poster
@brisk elk I really like this! If I could make a slight suggestion, I would either put the girl in front of the circles or reduce the amount of circles used because she kind of gets lost in the background with all the circles on her. But that is just my opinion! Still, its great work!
Day 4: Dance Club Brochure - Larger woman provided by Jesus is from Unsplash; dancing figures from Pixabay. I've added 3 layers of home made bokeh (two the same but one flipped, and a 3 different). The dancers added some bokeh as well.
@forest aspen The dancers add a great element to the poster. Well done! And the pink makes the image more interesting to the eye
@alpine nexus Thanks for the suggestion, I'll give it a try

Here comes my Challenge #3. Judging from the product, the exercise seems easy, I found it is the hardest so far. I will revise the exercise on other image I have on my folder. Comment please
I did have fun with this lesson, thanks again for tutorial!
Hi, my version of the Nightclub Flyer
Daily Creative Challenge 4
Tweaked this a bit more...
Challenge 3 😀
Challenge #3
Challenge 4 😎
Day 2: i still dont feel like its close to looking real. Help please!!
Bokeh AND extrusion you say...well that escalated quickly. What do you think, too many fonts? If this were an actual club flyer, the client would give you 50 more words to put on it 😂
not my best, but I had fun and learned a few things. Also was beginning to think something was seriously wrong with my computer, no matter how many times I set the gradient to foreground/background, it showed as foreground/transparent. I shut down PS and rebooted and got the same problem. Finally figured out that somehow the opacity had gotten turned down to 40%, when I grabbed that slider and put it back to 100, I could see the little window change to foreground/background. Unintended lesson in there. LOL
Challenge 4 Text Layer Club Flyer
Enjoyed this challenge.
Challenge 4
@unique veldt I actually love it.
Challenge No 4 Text. I actually had a lot of fun with this and love blend modes more each day. Can't wait until my friends kid needs another flyer for his concert, have learnt so many different ideas from these Challenges. May have to wait until end of year though. 😷

Day-04
👌
My day 4 challenge
The blue on the text was much brighter and easier to read in the photoshop file! 😕
Wouhou let's dance
I have managed to make the text appear brighter now. Is this better?
@viscid matrix Awesome copy! Really funny!
@true holly Love the font in "NEON DISCO"! Can you tell me how you did it??? 🤓
@vague swift looks very legit! Also great combination of elements! An image that tells story!
Day 2: i still dont feel like its close to looking real. Help please!!
@vast widget use curve adjustment layer to your object and pick darkest and lightest color from your background and also pick grey as a midtone. It will help you.
@vast widget the contrast is not matching. Use curves adjustment or brightness adjustment to match it. Also check lesson two on how to easily match colors!
@unique veldt that is definitely out there!!! VEry cool and very original, it is very eyecatching, like some sort of out of world party is about to take the streets!!!
@young karma I wish I could take credit for that part. That came from the Adobe Stock site. I felt like it needed a club logo or name on it since this was supposed to be a flyer/poster but I couldn’t think of one so I started googling. Using a stock one seemed like a better option than using a real club. That being said if love to figure out how to actually make lettering like this.
@young karma looking at again, not sure which font or effect you would need to get the “neon” looking lettering, but the kerning (space between letter) would need to be decreased and some lens flares would need to be added.
@young karma check this out https://youtu.be/l9S_4swRM1A
Hey guys, in this fun tutorial I will show you how to create this NEON lights effect in Photoshop. You can use this same technique to create lightsaber or anything that looks like a neon light.
Have fun!

challenge 4 ... PS = PlayStation 😉
@rose salmon This is looking really cool! I like the layering you did here. I think it’s looking quite solid, but I feel like you could probably try drawing more focus and attention into the players by controlling the background contrast. Currently everything is equally saturated and bright. Maybe making the background black and white, or overlaying a color grading to make it monochromatic, or even adding a bit of a vignette are all options that could reserve the greatest contrast for the players to make them stand out even more. Nice work on this design!
@neat flax I really like the idea of the flaming ball, very cool! Really nice work on the color masking as well. I feel like it might look cool to push the ray effect coming off the player even more, and I wonder if making the rays the same color as the flames on the ball would give the whole design a really unified feel and make it pop even more. Just some thoughts looking at this piece. Really cool!
@gusty geyser These are both looking really solid! I really like the balance of the pop of red with the bold white text, they work together very nicely. Really solid designs all around. The masking out of the text on the soccer is a nice touch that adds some nice depths too!
@fallow quiver Loving what you did with the color focus in this image and mirroring it in the text, really effective! The blur effect adds a nice sense of motion too, well done!
@sage cargo I really like you take on the outline around the player! The color gradient shift within that effect looks really nice too, and the watch it matches the effect around the text ties this whole image together very nicely!
@cyan terrace Very nice, I like the style and shine on the text! It fits the theme and mood of the image nicely. My only thought is that the whole thing seems a bit dark. I think brightening up the background or the text to really make one of them a bit more bright and dominant might help give the image a bit more solid focal point. Looking good!
@winter tinsel Really cool, liking your choice of color on this design! I feel like the “DJ Riot...” text below “Dance Fighter” could be lowered down just a bit, it seems a bit too close and crowded at the moment. I wonder if adding a slight gradient to darken the background mostly towards the bottom might help the text pop a bit more and strengthen that neon/glow in the dark vibe you often see with dance clubs. Just some thoughts, really nice work compositing these elements together!
@unkempt field Challenge 4 is looking good 👍 Nice job with these different elements. Though I think lightening the bokeh effect around her face so it’s not so obscured might help keep her as a subject and focal point. Nice work!
@sullen hollow Really liking the text you chose for Challenge 3! The bokeh effect is looking really cool too. I feel like some added brightness around her face for a stronger secondary read might look good and balance the image. Nice work with this 😄
@bitter cradle Really great job on the masking on this. I really like how much you darkened down the background, it still reads nicely but the foreground has such a strong visual impact. The blue and white colors between the text and player works really well to unify the design too!
@plain sable Really cool effect with the colors in this one! The bokeh adds a really fun element and the sort of radiating square shapes add a little energy and sense of perspective. This turned out nice!’
@cursive swallow The text style on the dance club image is looking really nice! You got an interesting effect going with the bokeh and radiating lines as well, nice work! There’s a good amount of visual weight in the upper half of the image with the text and face, but not so much on the bottom. I wonder if moving the text closer to the bottom might give the image a nice balance. Either way, looks good!
@vague swift Really nice work with the background elements Janet! I think the text could have a stronger read value wise. I think making it a similar brighter blue to the top of the background might pop really well off the dark background and also repeat the colors from up top which would give the image a great cohesive feel. Just some thoughts, looking good!

My first challenge ever 😀 (ok, I'm just a bit late...)
Catching up with this week's challenges. Here is my "layer styles" image. @lethal mural went pretty fast with this one, but I only had to pause a couple of times on the replay.
Here's the stock image I started with.
I don't have a pet, so I took one of my hollidays photos for the #challenge 1 Retouching with Jesus Ramirez. I would love to get some feedback.
@errant hazel go to this page, there you can click on every challenge open until now and watch the tutorials and get the resources. https://www.behance.net/challenge/photoshop
thanks Guga
I can't watch any of the instruction videos. The Behance player shows "An error occurred. Please try again later. (Playback ID: olX3xFoECEXFti6C)" every time I try to play something. Is this happening to anyone else?
(update) Nevermind, I just switched to watching the video on YouTube and plays fine.
Photoshop daily challenge #4
Challenge 1. Mr. Meow. This isn't as easy as Jesus makes it look. Fun though. Thanks for the instruction!
Challenge 1. Mr Meow. Perhaps the vignetting and the ear near the window is a bit dark. Will have to practice more on how to lighten it.

Day 4 - Text Layers
Challenge 2. BEFORE. This took me some time to get. The Curves panel is confusing. It took me a few times to get the skin right.
Challenge 2. AFTER. I hope you feel my skin color is correct. That was difficult for me. This challenge was loads of fun. Thank you!
Challenge #1 - PET PORTRAIT (RETOUCHING)

@hot crag I love all three of them, but as a portrait, I think the one on top works best. You did a nice job bringing out the eyes.
Hey guys are you running late today? Where is the starter file? It's usually up way before now
LOL as soon as that posted, the file appeared.
what tool is best for removing the powerlines that run across the front of the building?
there is so much detail in the brickwork I don't want to lose
@warm raven Jesus used the spot healing brush for the lines away from the building & the clone stamp tool by the building. I like to re watch the video when I'm working on the challenges for reference...
Thanks @plain sable 😀 I didn't see him work on the ones in the front, so I think maybe it's best to just leave those alone. Or perhaps he just ran out of time lol

My light bokah effect was not coming too much. @lethal mural any suggestion? what do you think ?
Hello jvverdi from Belgium
@sleek smelt try using the levels adjustment layer to give it more contrast.
Challenge one. 😌
My take on content aware fill
A quick attempt at #✂challenges-feedback number 5. Image I found was probably a bit difficult to use, but I tried the different techniques to remove all the people. Here's the before:
Before picture
After picture with people removed
I'm doing something wrong with clone stamp tool and I can't figure out what it is. I set the target area, I paint away the area, but it doesn't stay painted, it just reverts to the original version. Anyone know what I'm doing wrong?
WO.O! How much I enjoyed this challenge! #❓ask-a-question (I to post my daily challenge but my image is so small because it said that my image was huge so I changed it but... How can I compress it without lossing quality? or what size is good and good quality? Thank you!)
Day 5 Content Aware Fill. This feature is very useful, even more so now that I know how each of these tools work. Thanks Jesus!
Gone with a complete make over here. Did it work?

I'm way behind! This was a really difficult challenge for me.🥰
My take on Challenge 5
Here comes my Challenge #5. Not that successful on using the Content-Aware Fill tool; as after application, I was not able to use the Clone-Stamp nor the healing brush to finetune the image. Gave up & just used the Clone-Stamp. Rest are perfect. Please advise on possible mistake I have committed

OMAN before. I tried to get rid of the steps and the garbage can. This is a freshwater "hole" near the ocean. There are these little fish that come up and bite at the skin on your feet. There also is a pretty big monster in the far side but he got away.
So I could not get rid of the garbage can... what went wrong? usually I . would just start over. Sultanate of Oman
@neat carbon I ran into the same problem. Nothing was working...not even add a layer. I finally restarted my laptop and that fixed it.
DCC Day 5
Turns out I wasn't the only one that the lamps were shouting at. Fun Challenge.
I like what you did to the sky @true holly 💯
@coral stone thank you very much. I had fun with this one. The one lamp on in the original photo was begging for the other lamps to be on too.
Gave +1 Creative Carma to @coral stone
Added some colour and did some removal
@cerulean gate great job! Looks like a beautiful day 😀 My only suggestion is to darken just a little bit the sky, it will look more consistent in comparison to the buildings 😉
Before & After picture I took at a place called Sunken Gardens near by where I live. It's a gorgeous and relaxing park that I always love taking photos at.
I remember thinking to myself, "I wish that chair wasn't there..."
Challenge #1
trying for an aged photo effect.
@safe ledge I like the green tint to the water! The mountains may be a little over done...get it? XD
Day 4
Day 5: I liked the challenge of straightening the distortion, so I used the provided starter image. I start with ACR and work my way out. Did you know that if you put the crosshair of your healing brush on the intersection between two materials, and move away at a 90˚ angle, it will generally not smudge or distort. I find that if my brush it a bit bigger than I'm using elsewhere, it seems to work better
This was so much fun and I loved learning how to make Bokeh!
Same as others I removed the objects but also tried to turn it into a night scene!!! First time giving it a go, so tips are welcomed! Challenge 5:
I removed the people, tried to remove the lamp but it looked really weird without it so i kept it, then i did some editing on the photograph
heavenknowsffs, this command is disabled in this channel
Guga, for me the night picture takes away the beauty of the building and the plaza. Maybe if you lightened it up.
I removed the card near the wall and the lamppost. Any feedback?
Where's Wally 🙂
@vague swift ha! Very cool idea with wally 😄 . The content aware edits look very clean and I can't see any artifacts apart from a slight blurriness around his feet. The color grading amplifies the beautiful colors in a very pleasing way. Well done 🙂
@open ermine I'd remove the cables in the sky, so you can have an unobstructed view of those clouds 🙂
Thanks 🙂
@eternal mica Very interesting. This feels like it was shot later in the day. Almost when the sun was setting. Just be careful not to use too much saturation, or it can start to look like those oversaturated post cards. There are some artifacts in the sky which you could remove using the spot healing brush 🙂 .
@maiden briar Yeah, sometimes it can be very difficult to remove an object, if the background texture is too busy and non-repetitive. Honestly, I don't think you should worry about those lamps- perhaps you can remove the cables in the sky instead 🙂 . Using the spot healing brush, this shouldn't take too long. Regarding the color work, I do like the contrast you've added, but I wouldn't darken the shadows that much. If you look at the windows, they are almost pure black. 🙂
@young karma wow! That's really impressive - well done! This night scene looks very natural and I love the dark sky 😄 . I would bring out the glow of the lanterns even more
by adding a glow layer
And, this is just a personal preference, how about some stars behind the clouds 🙂 ?
@eternal mica This is a really difficult object to remove - very impressive. There are still some pixels which are showing through. So you could use the spot healing brush to remove them. To avoid those artifacts, always select a bit more than just the object you'd like to remove. 5-10 px is a good radius to keep around the object.
the bottom border and some parts on the left however are very distorted. this would need manual fixing by taking photos, which look similar and pasting them onto the scene. Honestly, I'd just crop out that part - I don't think you'd miss the skyscraper on the left 😉
or the trees below the building
@wraith cliff Nice one! Bokeh is indeed a lot of fun to create and use in your images. I love the colorful transformation of the source image. Just make sure to keep the color contrast between the text and the background high, so everyone can read it. The pink of the text and the magenta in the highlights behind the text look too similar, so the text is a bit difficult to read. 🙂
Challenge #4
@lime sage Really liking that background effect, almost gives it a sort of stained glass look, very cool! My only suggestion would be to increase the contrast of the girl. Right now the background has the most contrast and takes focus away from her a bit. Maybe using a levels adjustment on her and fading off the bokeh effect near her face could strengthen her as a focal point. Nice work on this challenge!
@hot crag Challenge 4 is looking good! Liking that title text and the colors of the whole thing. The bokeh effect is looking good without being too heavy obscuring the face which is nice. I feel like all the block of texts are rough the same size at this point, it could be nice to see the title text even bigger to be more dominant. Maybe have it overlapping her hair a bit, or even separate it into 3 lines. Nice work :D
(Challenge 1, 2 and 3 are looking great by the way! Budders is adorable)
@tropic knoll Nice work! Curves can be a bit tricky, but also gives a lot of control. Though I use levels the vast majority of the time myself. The color grading is looking really solid, my only suggestion would be to boost the darks on the man so that the deepness of the shadows match that of the background. Looks good!
@honest gorge Really nice work on the color masking for the Day 3 challenge! It looks really clean and crisp. My only suggestion is that the red splatter effect on the image pulls a lot of focus due to the bold color, which takes it away from the player a bit. But it could be an interesting effect to make the blur/ray/glow effect behind him colored red to really draw attention to the effect while highlighting the player and making him pop out even more. Just a thought. Nicely done!
@coral cloak Day 4 is looking good! I like the cohesive colors you kept with the text, and the bokeh effect kind of gives that lens flair effect, or as if the light is hitting glass. I feel like the text could probably be even bigger but it really just depends on what you’re going for. Very cool, nice work!
@bleak fossil thanks for feddback 😊 , i will follow your idea 😉

Challenge 5
This is my spoiled puppy. Instead of black and white I did a vintage look, blurred the area around her, and increased texture and clarity of her face/chest area. I also lightened and darkened a few areas.
This was my starting photo. I did straighten it and removed her tags from the photo.
original Victoria, Canada
I removed a bunch of lightpoles, some scaffolding, the hotel sign since it had a weird bracket in the middle of the word, car, people, sky. Straightened building on the left, added sky with clouds and played with the blend if modes because the colors were a bit too intense with too much contrast in the sky so I added a layer of color. When I was done, I took the whole mess into LR and added artistic #4. It didn't change it much from what I had already done in the camera raw filter. But it punched it up just a tad
oh and I chopped off that tree that was covering the windows. Redid the windows and took the top of the tree that I cut off and added it back into what I had left of the shortened tree. I forgot to add the birds back in, but they were hardly visible anyway.
Challenge 5 before and after, content-aware fill. took all the trash and humans out, put lights on the left light post, and highlights then boom! @lethal mural @bleak fossil what u think?
@bleak fossil thanks! And yes, I was red the title larger too, but it seemed to overlap her face a bit. Didn't think about splitting it into 3 lines... brilliant! Will try that. Thanks again!
Gave +1 Creative Carma to @bleak fossil
@young karma Really nice job on the object removal, and I like that you took it the extra step and turned it into a night scene! The lanterns are a great touch and look really good. My only suggestion is I think you could brighten the sky up a bit, even with it being night. If you look at some similar night photography you might often see the sky still being brighter (and maybe a slightly different color) than the ground due to the moon light. Looking good!
@vast osprey Nice work with the image retouching! The trash removal looks really natural. The only thing that catches my eye is the dark area of the wall where the man and cart was removed. I think some work with the clone stamp, or even a lasso tool with the dodge function could help clean that up. Nicely done!
@cosmic cradle I really like the effect of your pet portrait! It gives the image a nice professional look and those tweaks seem to do a really nice job of pulling focus to the dog’s face. Solid work on the tag removal as well!
@lavish portal These edits for challenge 5 are looking good! The object removal is looking nice and natural, well done!
@eternal mica Wow, really impressive work removing all those objects and people! That can definitely be tricky when dealing with that many elements. It looks really natural and clean. The only place I really notice some rough areas are around the base of the structure, but that seems like a pretty tough area. Really great work!
@primal fulcrum Very nice, you nailed this challenge! All the object removal looks very natural and clean, and there definitely seems to be some tricky and textured areas on this image. The sky replacement also adds a really nice element of interest. Really solid work all around!
@wraith cliff Very cool, I really like how you stylized the colors in this design! There’s a nice color contrast between the blue and the red too. My only thought is that the “cafe dance” text doesn’t stand out as much as it could due to the areas of light background. I wonder if you darkened down the bottom of the image a bit it might give the text a stronger read at a glance. Nice work on this!
@raven condor This is all looking really good! Nice work on the object removal, it’s looking nice and clean! The added contrast is a really nice touch as well, it helps the image pop a bit more and strengthens that natural orange/blue the image has going. Looking good!
@forest aspen Good tip Marie! A lot of time the object removal and retouch edits come down to making sure the natural texture and crispness of the image isn’t smudged or lost too much. Day 5 is looking really good! The effect is looking very nice and natural.
@wispy compass Nice work, I really like the background effects you have going with the bokeh and geometric shapes. Subtle but adds an interesting effect. Good job 👍
@plain sable You really transformed this image! Very effective edits, nice job. Removing the other objects really puts the focus on her and the color adjustment really accentuates that sort of yellow/purple contrast between the building and street. Very nicely done!
@marble reef Very nice, the sharpness and contrast on Challenge 1 is looking really good. Nice work 😄
Challenge 5 Content-Aware Fill before and after
05 Content aware practice
@neat flax Very cool! Those object removal techniques can definitely be super helpful with certain images. Nice job removing the bench! I like the color grading you added as well, it gives it an interesting feel. The only thing I notice is the area around where the top part of the bench was seems to have a dirt texture where it appears that it’s supposed to be concrete. Though that’s a bit of a nitpick as it’s hardly noticeable and only if you zoom in, but figured it was worth mentioning. Looking good!
@safe ledge Really cool photo for this challenge! The only thing that really looks a bit off in this image is that it looks like you adjusted the background of the image to be darker, but the rest of the image seems unaffected, which makes the lighting in the background look a bit off or unnatural. I think if you apply a uniform effect like a sepia filter, or even some old photo/paper texture to the whole thing might help give it a more cohesive effect. Just some thoughts. Nice work!
@cerulean gate Really liking the color adjustments of this image! It definitely gives the photo a bright feeling and really makes that blue/orange contrast pop. The object removal looks very convincing too, things like that light post can be pretty tricky. Great work!
@true holly Loving the colors of the sky on this challenge, the sky replacement is definitely a nice touch to sell that time of day shift. Really great lighting all around. Nice work on the glow of the lamps as well! My only thought, and this is more of a minor nitpick is that I think the light effect of the lamps on the surrounding area may be a bit unnaturally bright. I think the glow of the lamps themselves is spot on, but the brightness of the wall behind the center lamp for example seems very intense like a powerful flashlight. Usually lamps are a bit softer. Just a thought, this turned out great!

@cosmic cradle Good job with the composite. You could try removing the shadow from the basket ball poll, they seem to be in conflict the shadows should be going in the same direction. See what you think then.

@bleak fossil Hey Sam, I adjusted the lighting on the wall behind the center lamp post. Does this look better? I also replaced the stained glass window to add some more detail to the photo. Thoughts?

Day #6 Challenge. This is way harder than the video made it look. Replaced eyes and nose, with a whole lot of blending and smart filter adjustments.
Day 2 - a little behind but loving the challenges!
PS DCC Challenge #6. Whatcha think?
March 24 Challenge... Had fun with it adding in some dodges and burns etc. Think I should have added a stronger eyeball arch on the left eye, but it's a first go at any of these challenges. I realize the proportions are wonky, but it was completely intentional.
@obtuse topaz - Well done. I think you have the arms on the glasses going too high though - if you draw a line straight back from the side of your eye, you'll see that it likely very nearly lines up with the crease of your ear where it begins.
Challenge 6. Eva, the Lioness. My sunglasses don't look real to me. This challenge was just that - a challenge. Thanks for the fun!!

@mighty linden Hah, really clean transition between the two photos. Very nicely done!
@bitter cradle Very cool, it’s crazy how small changes can make such a big difference! Did you blend in lips from another photo or did you just use some edits to make it look shut? It just seems like it’s missing the soft transition into a shadow tone near the corners of the mouth, and a bit more between the lips, but that’s more of a minor nitpick if I had to choose any. Nicely done!
@compact pecan Haha, very nice, I think it’s looking pretty solid! I think edits with faces like this can be tricky because such subtle changes can make really noticeable differences, but it’s definitely something you get an eye for the more you do it. I think the main thing I noticed is just softening up those hard lines around the top of the mouth where there’s a hard horizontal line, and the hard lines below the eyes. It might help to rotate the entire eye section clockwise just a hair too. Really nice work with these!
@tropic knoll Ooh, I like how wild you went with this one, hah. The Lion hair looks great! I think the main thing I notice is that the lion eyes seem noticeably lower resolution and therefore softer than the rest of the image. Finding a higher rez image, sharpening the top rim of the glasses, and even blending the fur around the eyes more gradually into the face might help push this image even further. Really nice work with all these elements!
@mighty relic Looking good Linda, the object removal is looking really clean and natural in this challenge. Nice work!
@neat carbon Ooh, really slick work with matching the sunglasses to the position of her hands and even keeping a little transparency in the lens! The drop shadow is looking solid, though I think softening the edge just a touch might make it look a bit more natural. Nicely done!
@river bison Haha, I’m loving all these challenges from today. Really nice blend between the images here! This is a minor thing, but I notice the contrast in the image of the girl seems to be deeper than the contrast of your image with the beard. I think if you increased the contrast of that area (maybe with a masked levels adjustment using a soft brush to boost the darks) it would really help tie the two together seamlessly. Looking good!
@sleek shoal Nicely done for the pet portrait challenge! I like the high contrast look. I wonder if adding a subtle blur to the background might help focus the contrast on the dogs face even more. Just a thought, nice work!
@left abyss Hah, really like job with the effects in this one! I like the sort of purple/pink gradient and how it focuses the light in the center. It could be nice to make that bright point land on the dog’s face, and even add a bit of a vignette to darken down the outside to push that club style lighting even more. Nice job on this challenge 😄
@tacit condor Oh wow, you cleared the whole beach out, haha, really nice work! Images like this can definitely be tricky due to all the texture, nicely done. I think some of the spots on the beach look a bit cloudy, but I kind of wonder if a simple levels adjustment to boost the lights and darks could help. I notice the areas that seem a bit cloudy look that way because they don’t have the same deep darks and bright brights that the other areas have, which gives it that sharp textured look. I wonder if using a round brush and masking a levels adjustment layer might help sharpen up key areas. Just a thought. Really nice work!
@fringe mirage It’s definitely pretty impressive what Photoshop is able to do, I definitely had that feeling again for today’s (Tuesday) challenge. This is looking really nice! Nice work on removing the objects and keeping crispy clean edges, looking good! 👍
@zenith karma Very cool, glad to hear it! Always nice when you can pick up some new tools/techniques from these challenges. Really liking your image for Challenge 4! You have some really nice value contrast and the large bold text works really well over the darker background. The background textures/effects add a really nice element of interest too. Nice work!
@pliant geyser Haha, wow, I love how wild you went with these proportions! This is looking really solid. The only thing that stands out to me is that the forehead doesn’t seem to match the light of the rest of the image as much. Everything seems to have a harsh shadow to indicate the light is coming a bit from the right, but the forehead doesn’t seem to match that. Maybe if it had a bit more shadow on the left side kind of like the original photo does it would fit in a bit more. Though that’s a fairly minor note. Maybe something like this? Really nice job!
(it seems to show better quality when you click on it and click "open original")
@hasty oracle Looking good! I think a lot of times finding photos with similar quality and lighting can be a big part of the battle. This is looking solid, I think the main thing I notice is the eyes seems like they might be from a lower quality image, or it might just be that they seem a bit low contrast to the rest of the image. The contrast looks a bit washed out in the eyes especially in the right hand side near the corner of the eyes and eyebrow. I think pumping up the darks in those areas (and the brights in the whites of the eyes except for the inner part of the white on the eye on the right hand side) will go a long way to fit these elements together. Maybe something like this? I used burn and a little dodge (and a color layer to correct any colors that got blown out). Really nice job with this challenge!
@true holly Ooh, very nice! I think a little hint of a cast shadow from below the glasses would really sell this effect. Maybe even increasing the contrast of the glasses too since this photo is so high contrast. Looking really good!
@kindred kernel Hah, this is looking great! The mustache swap is spot on. The glasses look really good too! I think if you added a bit of a cast shadow for the glasses with the layer settings or a multiply layer it would sell the effect even more. Very nice!
@late spruce Really nice job with the color masking on the Day 2 challenge! I also really like how you repeated the uniform color in the text, really ties it all together nicely. I think this image could definitely benefit from a tighter crop to really bring the action up front a bit more. Nice work!
@bleak fossil thanks, definitely need some more fine tuning, image was challenging at first I was getting a muddy effect after the content aware fill, so I mixed the patch tool and healing brush to mix it in a bit more.

challenge 5 I had a lot of troubles with the lights how to match them
@bleak fossil thanks for the feed back. I meant to put a small shadow on there it then forgot. I also was going to go with more of a sepia toned final photo but I screwed up some layers early on and did a black and white mask on the glasses later and couldn’t figure out how to recover with out redoing everything. Lesson learned for next time I guess

@bleak fossil I ended up using the lips from one of the images provided in the download file. When I left them the color they originally were they looked better but I was wanting them to be as close to the original color. I was having a lot of trouble with the shadows and using the color replacement brush for chaning the lip color. What I ended up doing in the end was selecting the lips and copying them onto their own layer and then coloring them. I also selected the eyes again and copied them as well. then I just put those on the original copy image and merged them together. Then used a mixture of patch tool, healing tool, dodge and buring tools to try and make them feel like one. It helped a little compared to how it was looking but yes you're correct lol. I need more practice. Thank you for your critique! 😀

tried again . I think this challenge set is far to rushed. spend more time teaching and less time on the front end about "how to get to bechance". Had a hard time with this challenge. Still not super excited about results, but here it is.
Challenge 7
@safe ledge i had trouble also. I think the key to adding faces is to duplicate the origina layer youre working with, then move that duplicate immediatley below the mask layer youre currently working on. Besides that, I think all the steps are same for each face.
@safe ledge I'm not sure if you watched the video while you working the project, that's what I do, the steps are all there, I stop and start it as I go along back track if I need to. They cram in a lot in these so I find it useful to watch the video as I do the challenge... Yes @eternal mica the steps are the same for each of the faces. And the more you do these challenges the easier it all becomes.

Challenge #7
07.Super Hero Composite
Challenge 7. I like how the Adjustment/Levels removes the dark edges of the images. You really pack in the tips! Thank you!
Finally started the challenge! This is the original picture of my dog Yogi Bear
And this is the final picture
Got to finish the second challenge as well! I plan on doing what he said and trying it out with different images - probably not a selfie though - but I wanted to follow along with this one at first.
@muted coral Hah, the face swapping challenges are all so good. I think your results are looking really solid! The blend between the different elements looks really clean. The only thing I think could use some refining is the shadow between the hand and the face to make it a bit more gradual. Nice work on these challenges!
@pliant geyser Oh wow, you got the wings and halo out of flames and everything, really cool! It could be nice to see a bit more contrast in the halo, in the way that the wings have the dark spots and the hot white spots too.Looking good! 😄
@alpine nexus Nice work on the pet image Elly! The value contrast definitely puts a lot more attention on the dog. I think it might help to be a bit more gradual with the darkening layer. It looks a little abrupt on the wall, on the blanket around the bottom of the image frame, and even a bit between the leg and blanket. I like using a large soft round brush to get a fairly gradual transition to keep everything looking natural if that makes sense. Just some thoughts. Really nice job!
@tropic knoll Very cool, I like the sparking effects coming off the fire! The edge of the arm on the right hand side looks a bit crisp against the dark background, I feel like a bit of a glow effect would give it a natural look against the background and make that edge seem a bit softer. Nicely done!
@unkempt field Nice work on Challenge 7! I like how you masked the fire coming out of the mouth too, hah. I also like the way we see some of the texture around the hands as well as the fire, gives it a cool dynamic! This is super minor, but the texture ends in a hard edge around the shoulder area, it could look a bit more natural to soften that up so the fade out is more gradual. Solid work!
@sullen hollow Really nice combination between the fire effect and the skin texture. I like how the skin texture seems to fade out naturally as it gets closer to the head. Well done!
@lavish portal Looking good! I like how the shapes of the flame are breaking away from the arm but you can still see the texture underneath. Nice work on both of these effects!
@uneven glade Ah, very cool, interesting to see this applied to a different image! I like the effect, I think maybe you could increase of contrast of the flame coming off the shoulder a bit by increasing both the brights and darks (either with a masked levels adjustment or dodge and burn) and adding a bit of a warm glow to the water around the flames could really help sell the effect even more. Really nice work on this!
@raven condor Hah, nice to see someone add the flames to the legs too! This is looking good, nice job with the effect. It could be really cool to see the leg flames casting a bit of a warm glow onto the black of the shorts a bit to really sell that lighting effect. Looks good!
@vague swift Really cool idea here! I really like that warm glow you gave him on the chest and arms! It could be nice to see a bit more glow on the legs and right side of the torso a bit too to really sell that the glow is coming from down below. Really nice job on this!
@modern halo I was really curious to see if someone would go a different route with an ice or electricity effect, very cool! Really liking the colors and effect you got with this. The only thing I’d recommend would be to soft the hard line around the neck so it’s a more gradual fade. Might make the whole effect look a bit more natural. Nicely done!
@safe ledge Feel free to tag me or any of the mentors if you’re getting stuck on any challenge or specific step! All the steps for that method should be there in the video. Though personally in that past when I’ve been going over tutorials I’ve found some luck in watching the whole process over once without working myself to try and understand the whole method, then watching a second time and pausing after basically every step to do it myself because sometimes it can be easy to miss a crucial step in these shorter videos. But feel free to post what you were working on or any aspect you may be having issues with and we can do our best to help.
@wraith cliff Really nice work on the Day 5 challenge! I agree, the image can have such a different feel and mood to it depending on which one you go with. The black and white definitely has that drama, but there can be some great color contrast in the colored one too. This looks good! If I had to mention anything I’d say that sharpening up the edges where the cart was could help clean it up a bit. When zoomed in the edge back there looks a bit soft in comparison to the surrounding area, but that’s a fairly minor detail. Looking good!
@eternal mica The effect is looking good Ted! I think it could help if you boosted the overall contrast of the horse and rider to boost both the darks and lights. Usually you want your facial point to be the area of deepest contrast (especially the darks) but it’s the opposite in this image currently. I think boosting the contrast of the horse/rider and even brightening the blue glow around them could really help the whole thing pop. Just some thoughts, really nice job on this!
@lime sage Looking good, always interesting to see these effects applied to different images! The flames are looking really good, well done compositing this together. I think if you wanted to take it a step further adding a bit of a warm glow to some parts of the trees and a little below the ant on the ground could really help fit it into the environment. Nicely done!
@bleak fossil thanks! I'll look again at my details

Challenge: Seamlessly combine the foreground of one image with the background of another. Use a Curves Adjustment Layer to match colors. March 18, 2020. (Thanks Adobe Cloud, thanks Jesus Ramirz for helping me learn the job
@bleak fossil Sam, thanks for the comment and for the tip. I also thought it was too dark and not enough contrast. But it took me so long to get to that point, I just wanted to post it already. 😊 Hers the updated version.

Day 6 Challenge 6 - Autoblend - Funny Mashup #✂challenges-feedback. I know it is not one of the best, but have given my best shot. Feedback from experts appreciated 🙂
@hollow horizon Wonderful job! Very cool. Take a look at the back right side of the boat. Your mask is showing just above it. Other than that, Awesome!
@rose salmon -- good idea, but the eyes, brows and lips really overpower the rest of the image. I would suggest using some curve adjustments followed with some dodge and burn in the hair to really make it shine.
@hollow horizon This location.

@pliant geyser Thanks. Suggestions noted, shall rework and post it again. Appreciated.
@rigid bridge - I like the overall concept. Going to nitpick it a bit. The pattern on the face needs to show highlight and shadows like the rest of the face. I like the glow on the face by his left hand, but it needs to show on the upper eyelid a bit too. Consider maybe a slight colour reflection on his eye? Just my thoughts from the Great White North...

@bleak fossil thanks for the suggestion! I agree with you actually, so I may go in later tonight and fine-tune it. But I used the camera raw filter that the tutorial showed us so I don't think I can change the type of brush it has. And if I can then I don't know how to. But I'll play with it and see what I can do to fix it up

Challenge 8
yo i hear you
Challenge 8. Lots of information packed in. Thank you! The hardest part is selecting the color scheme!
@bleak fossil Thank you for your comments!! I already fix the flame on her shoulder and I tried to add the warm glow but... it doesn't look natural or what do you think? Do you know any tutorial that I can applied that? Please!! Thank you!

@dull patio Interesting combination of elements. A bit busy though. I'd love to see the circuit traces be thinner and fewer, and for the X to be on the 45º angles to accent the symmetry. The biohazard symbol could use some space around it as well.
Thanks, all!!!!

I tried making this into a book cover, but couldnt get that to work. The layers are both added to the group with Jesus' images, but it wouldnt auto save to the book cover. Its an image of Aaron Judge double exposed over Yankee Stadium.
Sorry about the repost.. had to make an edit.. Thoughts, anyone?
@eternal mica The title of the book etc is very very hard to read. I would suggest a different font that's not so "wonky"
challenge 8 - I tend to get impatient with technology and overwhelmed, there's so much to learn too but once I settle into it a bit I calm down - I end up enjoying the process and the fact that I'm learning something new each time. I loved the idea of designing a book cover too, it's inspiring for me to be able to see how the design looks on the product...
@young karma sorry, I didn't know that. From now on, will be posting old DCC in past challenges.

Hows this? I still cant get it to come up as the book cover.
@eternal mica Still super hard to read. Look at the thumbnail showing in your post - can you read it easily? Might I suggest adding a layer under the text with a transparent to white gradient under it? Start it just below the 99 and finish it just above the A in the Aaron. Just a thought is all. When you're editing your file, did you just change the smart object or did you save it as a separate file? They have to stay together in 1 file or else it won't update immediately.

@unreal adder Not bad - the city scene in the dress is subtle - didn't realize what it was until I viewed it full size! That part I really like. Not so sure about the sunset in her hair and face though - her head (from the jawline on up) has a totally different tonality from the rest of her body, which to me, is slightly odd looking. Maybe strengthen that up so it's not quite so ethereal? Take my comments as you will... they're from a super bored, locked down Canadian... 🙃
Hi, my version of challenge #8

Challenge #8. Double exposure.
Was working on the letter Y and decided to let it burn for day 7 compositing
@eternal mica see the tabs at the top of my screen? If I click on the 'double exposure" I get the full shot with the cover. Next to it is the 'cover' shot and that has all the layers/images for the book cover. Hope that helps.

REVISED
@eternal mica Here's a quick set of instructions for you. Took a couple screen shots and added some text in InDesign. I used the "quick and easy" method that Jesus showed in the video stream. I'm guessing at some point you may have done a "Save As" and changed the name of the Smart Object (.PSB), at which point it won't update any more (to my knowledge - if someone cares to correct me please feel free!)

@forest aspen Love your image with the Gecko! I need to let him out to play - it's been too long! 😁
Redid my Yogi image for challenge 1. @bleak fossil you were right, it looks better with a more realistic shadow. I also decreased a little the sharpness of the background because I like that little blur it gives the background and I love the vignetting so I added a little of that as well!

Challenge 7, I liked the cracked burning look, didn't want to cover it with flames
PSDCC #6 Auto-Blend (playing catch-up)
@plain sable The sort of stylized silhouette and shape of the tree with the realistic textures is a really interesting combination. This looks like it could be an album cover or something, nice work!
@potent jacinth Ooh, I like it. The red with the sort of foggy/bleak grey really communicates the mood. I like how the face is a secondary read too, it took my brain a second to see it as a face after looking at the city. I like how the red kind of streaks near the top too, nice combination of these images!
@oblique anvil Really interesting background effects with this Day 4 design! I like how the background building gets sort of abstracted and blended with the shapes effects. I feel like boosting the contrast and brightness of the dancer and text could really help make this image pop and stand out against the background. Just masking a levels adjustment or something to those elements I think could really easily do the trick. Nice design!
@mighty relic The flame effect is looking great! I really like the deep contrast in the flames between the light and dark elements. The warming of the image is looking nice too. My only minor suggestion would be to maybe mask out the two little flame elements below each hand. It looks almost like they got cut off with a hard edge and seem a bit out of place. Or even just softening their edges up a bit might help. Nice work!
@quaint badger Ooh, loving these different effects and textures you have going on! I think the blue is a pretty cool contrast with the warm colors, but thematically it’s a little confusing to tell what element he seems to be made of. I think it could be cool for an ice or electricity power effect, or even somewhere else on his body (maybe on arm is fire and the other ice? Hah) but becomes hard to tell what he’s made of when put together. Though I like the effect is quite interesting visually, just a thought though. Nice work with the color grading of the image too, I really like how its’s reflecting those more purple/red tones of the arms!
@true holly Ooh, I really like the way you overlaid these images, and the contrasting colors really help the readability of both of them. The white background really lets these colors shine too, really cohesive and professional looking design!
@wispy compass Loving this design! Really nice job combining all these elements. Really interesting shapes and composition overall! It could be nice to see a bit of an orange light cast around her leg area to really fit her into the scene even more. Doesn’t even have to be too bright, a warm tint would even help. Nicely done!
@sage cargo Very cool, I really like that warm color pop with the building, and the face still has a strong value contrast to draw attention. I think a quick change to really make this work well would be to change the bottom text to white. It would read really well and have a nice black/white contrast with the top text. Just an idea. Really nice work 😄
@left abyss Ooh, love this effect, the arm texture is indeed super cool, and the look on her face fits the image well, hah. I like the light it looks like you added on the face as well. It could help to add a bit of dimension to the arm by adding a bit of shadow on the bottom, and maybe a bit of light on the top. I often do this with a multiply and color dodge (or screen) layer with a soft brush on a selected area and then erasing it or masking it off on the glowing cracks. Might help it look a little less flat, kind of how the forearm area seems to have a little shadow on the bottom which gives it some nice dimension. Just a thought, really great work on these effects!
@tacit condor These edits fit together really seamlessly, the whole thing looks really natural. Great job meshing these together!
@lost tangle Great blend between these two images, I like how the images are clear enough to understand what they are but there’s almost a slick abstractness at first which gives it a bit of mystery. The color scheme seems to support this well too. I like it, really nice work!
@bold valley The Day 8 challenge is working really nicely! Really nice blend between the two images, and I like the subtle warm/cool contrast you have in this design. Well done!
@rose sable Honestly this is looking pretty solid to me. I definitely think it helps get the hang of it doing it multiple times to really refine that process and see what works through some trial and error. The main thing I see is the area around the eye on the left side, and bit of that hard line around the brow. I think just overlaying part of the original face on the trouble areas or using a soft brush on the edges of the added elements could help the transition possibly look a bit more soft and natural. But overall this is looking really nice! 👍
@proper cave Ooh, this is a really cool image. It seems like it could be a poster for an apocalyptic movie or something. The double exposure looks great, and that red/blue-green contrast between her face and the city looks great. I feel like the background teal color and her blue jacket seem unfitting to the rest of the image. I kind of imagine her jacket being largely desaturated and the background being a darker sort of neutral blue or blue green to really let the color of the red take center stage. But I suppose it really depends on the mood or feel you’re going for. Great job!
@plain mortar The perspective of the building adds a really interesting element in contrast with the face. Very cool! I kind of wonder if it might help to add a slight darkening gradient to the top of the head/sky to make it contrast against the white background a touch more... though it’s hard to tell if that would be an improved look without seeing it. Just a thought though. The blue gives the whole thing a nice pop of color too, nice work on this double exposure image!

@hidden pendant Hey Trish - I like the concept overall, but it needs more light sourcing. Her face is in shadow, but should have some light from the fire coming from her hand.. maybe also apply more fire light to her arm, and her hip. The moon is super bright and as such would cast light on her hair. Keep up the good work!
Yesterday's challenge #✂challenges-feedback number 8, of the book cover. What do you think? I'm learning a lot more about smart objects now!
I had one more thing I thought would be cool to try with the whole super hero composite challenge. Just want to share. Super heroes belong in comic books right?!? @lethal mural had a cool video I can across on his youtube page on a quick ways to make a comic book drawings from your photo. You should go check it out.
Day 8 - Double Exposure. Better late than never, right? I always try and use different images than the example to make sure I truly understand the concept, but for some reason on this one, I couldn't get a different b&w image to work right. I'll have to keep working at it. But here is my try - I used the example b&w but a different color image.
@eternal mica to use a template, you have to double click on the smart icon and it will open in a new window or tab. Then when you are done editing in there, you have to save. ctl S or use the menus. Then go back to the main psd file and and you will see your changes.
In the year 2020...
Entire states went into lockdown to try to stop the spread of the disease. All businesses shut down and everyone told to stay in their homes. The quarantine went on for months. We ran out of toilet paper, food and beer. Desperation set in and things were bleak for the people in most stats. However, the states that had legalized Marijuana fared better.
Hello everyone. Thank you all for your great works. This is my first time.
I couldn't get the trick to hide all the extra when I went into camera raw and I didn't get any color changes when using the slider later except the same combinations I originally saw. So I missed something somewhere. I'll have to watch it again and maybe play with this some more.
Hello @primal fulcrum Sig, you don't need to hide all the extra. I prefer to keep them for later so you can edit it later (for example move his head or the city photo)
With a few little changes... Challenge 8
@uncut grove it doesn't get rid of anything, it just makes it so you don't have to see the whole of every image in the camera raw filter. You have to add a mask and make a smart object of a group somehow and I didn't do it right. When I made a group, I lost the effect altogether.
@bleak fossil Thanks for the nice comment, Sam.

Day 8_Book Cover. I never did figure out the group and mask and conversion to smart object "experimental" trick, but finally figured that it was not critical to the whole thing. This was a fun challenge, but now I have more questions, like do we not worry about converting
images to 8 bit from 16 bit anymore? It seems like that option disappeared, or am I just forgetting where to find the place where we convert them? Anyway, my cover now, such as it is.

Day 8 - Double Exposure
Day 8 Book: Book Cover. I had a difficult time using both of Jesus's method of doing a double exposure. I did one by skipping 2 channels, but the one I ended up liking the best was one where I finagled 3 images using blend modes and masks to approximate a double exposure. Perhaps I should have used the demo images for better results. The images, other than the book starter, are from Pixabay.

@trail field the book cover challenge was actually to do a double exposure. But your pic looks off kilter. If you double click on the smart layer, it will open up for you in a new window and you just have to place it in there. It will line up automatically. You can watch the replay any time on Youtube. I just go to youtube and search there for Adobe. Click on Adobe CC (the red one) and then click on videos and look for the right one. HTH
Challenge 9. I did it! My Highlights thumbnail was White which showed a white shirt. Once I did a Cmd I to switch to a Black thumbnail, my highlights appeared. The warping is a bit tricky.
