@magic hedge I really like what you did with the pyramids! The way they mirror the shape of the pyramids but at first glance just read as an interesting graphic element is really nice. Nice work with the blue/pink color scheme!
@tropic knoll Hah, glad to hear you’re liking them! It’s always great having a handful of new techniques and tricks after doing enough of these challenges. They definitely add up. Nice work on the design, the shapes look solid and I like the soft shadow effect you have behind the pyramid shapes!
@proper cave I like these bold colors and how you did a couple different color schemes, nice work! I like how the red/pink background is mirrored in the text and button on the first one, it could be nice to see the blue/green background of the second design repeated in a similar way. Looks good!
@dire glacier Very nice! Challenge 8 is looking good. I really like your unique approach to this one, the graphic elements look nice. It could be nice to put a color gradient throughout the whole text of “Fantasy Land” to contrast against the background even more but that’s really just personal preference. Nicely done!
@honest gorge These are both looking really solid! Nice work on both Day 7 and 8. I really like the clean graphic shapes of Day 8. It could e cool to see the letter B completely masked out by the clouds on the bottom for Day 7. Or even just fade out the bottom of the B so the clouds look a little more opaque as the B gets “deeper” into it. Just some thoughts, looking good!
@heady stirrup Ooh, really interesting. I like the red/green contrast you have going on. It almost looks like the snails should be glowing or something, they definitely give off a sort of magic or supernatural feel. Nice work!
This is my Challenge 8. I ended up recomposing challenge 2 and using that for my background to keep it consistant (on brand) with rest of challenge.

@bleak fossil Thanks for feedback 😊

@bleak fossil Thanks! It technically is a color throughout, but it's set to linear dodge. I'll fiddle, though, I had looked at full color. The line at the top is actually the same gradient reversed, but without the linear dodge.

Great choice of type @young karma
Still catching up but here is my challenge #7
Managed to do this challenge but not quite the same as Kladi. When I moved the star out of sight, I could not bring it back in, when I used to move tool to bring it back a rectangle started to appear, the only way I could do it was to put the star at the edge of the image so it was still visible for me to be able to move it across the screen, not sure what I was doing wrong. Any ideas? TIA
@bleak fossil Changed the color of the call to action and Headline as you suggested.
I can't seem to save it. I have brought the size way down and still I get this unknown error message. Any ideas?
got it finally. should have been more careful choosing the gradient. This one didn't go to 256 colors that well. But I'm done with this LOL. Took forever and an unknown move on my part to get my name to not fade in but to just appear.
Looks nice, Sig. Congrats. I keep getting the unknown error. What did you do?
Finally figured out how to do it right. First time doing a timeline so just did some minor changes. Let me know what you all think.
Challenge 8
Final Challenge - continued with the same marketing campaign. Not sure why it has uploaded like this, smooth on my PC.

@storm horizon How did you created this?
Here is my day 8 challenge. Is the curlicue part of the shape too distracting? I was trying something, don't know if it was a mistake or not. Kinda think it's too much.
@tropic knoll Part of the problem seems to be that I accidentally hit the audio button at some point. Since GIF can't have audio, I suspect that stopped it. The other appears to be the size. After I fixed the audio button, I still had to downsize it by 50% before it would save for me. Might be because I had a gradient and more effects which all made it KB heavy
@storm horizon How did you created this?
@sacred abyss if you have an adobe/behance account, you can simply create new projects online in Behance. Its quite easy to do actually, simply just drag and drop haha.. I believe @agile ruin covered how to create a new project in behance in the first episode. Behance also has a basic guide online : https://help.behance.net/hc/en-us/articles/204483684-Guide-Create-Publish-A-Project Hope it helps 🙂
How do I compress the GIF its 12MB and discord doesn't allow more than 8MB? What should I do?
This was really a cool challenge learned a lot!
Challenge 9. Thank you very much Sid! I downsized this 50% and it saved! Thanks again!

Day 9
@sacred abyss I don't have much luck getting feedback, either - even when I tag them. I did get one from Sam a while back, but that's it. I love watching these challenges as they're fun and informative, but I doubt I'll post anything any more.
@honest gorge great to see you! Super cute work, I loved it 😍 . Just one thing, I believe there is an "L" missing between the e and c 🙂
@timid pasture I'm sorry to hear that. I believe because of the big amount of works that are posted some of them will be missed by the feedbacks. But feel free to tag me if you need any feedback, it will be my pleasure 😃
@coral stone great to see you too 😊 , I think I was hungry and I ate a letter 🙈 hahaha, thanks for letting me know

Day 9 challenge
Finally catching up on the challenges, only two left now! This is my challenge 2
My challenge 3 with the letter B, which do you prefer, the foliage or the brushes?
My Challenge 4, I found the character styles panels and artboards really useful as these are some elements of PS I haven't used before.
Challenge 5 to mockup as a magazine advert, and bonus I know have a template to use in the future! 😀
This was the original image kindly provided by Kladi
This is my colour graded one to more tie in with my dreamworld!
Finally (for now) I used slices to create a 9 grid Instagram post of my dreamworld
A link to my behance incase it is easier to view on there - https://www.behance.net/clairelouiseholt I appreciate any feedback
Challenge 8 now done, 1 more to go 🙂 Pyramids wouldn't work with my theme so used the shape tool to make a boat and created a shadow to bottom part.
For challenge 3 I prefer the brushes I will probably move the white layer more to the right
Amazing work @green oriole ! You can see the full campaign building up ! and well done for the creativity in swapping the elements and introducing new ones! 😍
For challenge 3 I prefer the brushes I will probably move the white layer more to the right
Amazing work overall I look forward to see the last one 🙂 remember for the social media file you can find the full social media sizes cheat sheet on www.iamkladi.com/resources
@magic hedge very nicely done with your gif! The pyramid look very cool. 💙 almost as if they were made of crystal! super nice!
Thank you! @agile ruin And thank you for two weeks of great challenges!😍

@timid pasture sorry ti hear that! if you look at the stream after me the streamer goes here in discord and checks each design. I have many people messaging me one to one with questions, please efel free to do so anytime!
@primal fulcrum the issue with your name appearing is most likely the way you have introduced the keyframe. let me share how I would do it.
Challenge 9 Revised. My stars are blinking better, hopefully, in this version. And I added the text a little sooner. Thanks to all!
Here is my day 9 challenge.
Challenge 9 Re-revised. When I moved the text, I forgot to make the adjustments to make the smaller text visible. Oops! My sincerest apologies for my lack-of-attention-to detail. On a higher note, these additions to my to-do/checkoff list will guide me in future attempts. Thanks for the safe place!
Yes, I see it. and have fixed it. Golly!
Took me a little while to get to this one. Now on to the the gif challenge.
Gave +1 Creative Carma to Kladi Printmysoul
OK - I'll go ahead and re-post this, @agile ruin just for fun. This is my version of challenge 8 (I think that was it.. LOL). I try to put a different spin on my uploads for the challenges rather than just a copy of everyone else's work. It's just the way I do things. I do a lot of work with 3D apps like Poser and DAZ Studio as well as Photoshop, so I often add those elements to my Challenge efforts. I put together a little 'fashion' piece with the ideas from Challenge 8. I really enjoy these challenges, and never fail to pick up useful tips and techniques. Thanks for a great two weeks!
Day 9 video
@nova swan Really liking the contrasting colors and textures of the background! The clean center line and graphics on the right break that up nicely as well. There’s a nice cohesiveness to the colors, looks good!
@magic hedge Very cool! I really love the varying speeds of the shooting stars. It adds a really nice natural feel to it. The color shift is really cool too. Design looks good, nicely done!
@bitter cradle Really liking the design and mockup for challenge 5! The clouds add a really interesting mysterious element to the design and the mockup looks really clean, nice work!
@honest gorge Hah, very nice! I like the consistent style of the whole design. The unicorn and castle look like they fit together. Nice job on the animation and the text fade in!
@tropic knoll This is all looking really solid. The shooting stars look really nice, the color shift looks good, and I really like the lighting shift on the pyramids. It really sets them in the scene and makes it look nice and cohesive. Really nice work!
@young karma When you’re exporting it should show you the estimated export size so you can tweak the settings to something that works for you. Also adjusting the document size will help with that as well. Behance might allow larger files though if that allows you to upload a high quality one. Nice work on this, there’s definitely a lot good tips to pick up from this challenge. Design is looking good, nice work with all the animated elements!

Challenge 6
Yay! Here's my Challenge 7, Up on instagram 😀
My screenshot is a little off of my instagram page for this, at least ya'll can see the divider grid lines 🙂
I know it needs some (a lot of) work but here's a start.
@timid pasture thank you so much for re posting! The 3d looks pretty ace 🤩 ! I love the fashion theme 🙂 You have done a very good job 👏 👏 . The only thing I would suggest is perhaps to change the font of the main copy (text). The curly script fun font is great as a display to write big bold short world - PINK for instance is greta!- while for longer paragraphs I usually go for a more plain text to ease the eyes in to reading. Then I would integrate the magenta you had for the text ono the background gradient ! Let me know if you implement the work I would love to see it developing 🥰 💯
Gave +1 Creative Carma to RodS
@cold cedar it's a great start! I would let the moon rise slower - but maybe in your dreamland you have a fast moon 🌕 ? ❤️ well done!!
Thanks @agile ruin. For some reason GIFs are a big challenge for me but I will keep at it.
Gave +1 Creative Carma to Kladi Printmysoul
@cold cedar I agree as the tools and icon are quite different but practice makes perfect 🙂 don't give up and have fun with it !
@agile ruin Thanks for the feedback! Yeah, I kind of wondered about that font myself, but decided to leave it. I have a few tweaks I want to make, too, so I'll try a different font, and play with that gradient. I'll tag you when I post the newer version! 👍

@agile ruin OK - here's the updated version. I tweaked a few things, and I like your idea of incorporating the font color into the gradient.. I think the font works better too. Thanks for the tips!
Gave +1 Creative Carma to Kladi Printmysoul
Catch up for Challenge 7! I wasn't sure how to post this to show the slices. Clearly this way was not the best choice. LOL
Challenge 8
@timid pasture Yeah, you definitely get a nice cohesive feel in this design with the gradient color and text color matching up like that. Everything is looking really solid! My only thought is the hair looks a bit off. I think it might feel a bit lacking lighting wise, and the color seems to seem a bit flat. Usually the highlights will be a warmer color and the shadows a bit cooler. It might help to do that and add a bit more brightness around the top, and maybe shadows on the area around her neck. I often like color dodge and multiply layers for this. It’s really just a minor nitpick but I thought that could help a bit. Really nice design!
@cold cedar Very nice, it’s looking good! I really like the light/color shift. I think if you got all the shooting stars animating and going completely off screen it’d look completed. Nice work!
@bitter cradle Very nice, it looks good. The color adjustments look good too, I like the subtle blue look of the pavement against the pink of the lights. 👍
@neon bay Very nice job on the animation, looking good!
@plain sable Very nice, I like how the shape on the left masks out the shooting stars! It could be nice to add an additional element of depth by moving the shape a bit to the right and having the bottom design overlap it a bit too. It might add some depth and avoid a bit of the tangent feeling they have near the bottom left. Just a thought. Nice work on this animation!
@honest gorge Really great job with all the challenges, very nice to see them all together. Really nice work 😄
@cold cedar Really nice work on the design for Challenge 8 as well! I really like the different interesting shapes you have but how the camel still seems to have the most contrast to bring your attention to the title area. This looks really solid!
@whole tangle Really awesome work on the animation! I really like the combination of the shooting stars with the twinkling lights. I like how you varied the speeds of the shooting stars, I wonder if it could give it a more realistic look if the smaller (further away) shooting stars went a bit slower while the larger (closer) ones were a bit faster. Kind of like that effect in a moving car where the further the background is the slower it moves. Just a thought, this turned out great!
@winter tinsel Loving that design from the Day 8 challenge! Some really nice contrast and great readability. I really like the subtle design textures in the background on the left hand side. They add a lot of interest without being overpowering. Challenge 7 doesn’t quite seem like the image lines up as intended, unless that’s what you were going for. It’s a pretty cool effect on it’s own, semi abstract but still looks really cohesive. Great work on these!
@bleak fossil Thank you for the feedback on Challenges 7 & 8. I'm having an issue trying to upload my gif for Challenge 9. Any suggestions? Says my file is too big.

Ver. 2 Challenge 8.
@bleak fossil Hey, thanks, Sam! Yeah, punching up the hair sounds good - especially on her left where the light is coming from. That's the neat thing about being on her own layer - color dodge might be fun! And it gives me something to do since everything seems to be shut down with all the insanity going on. 😉

Hello @everyone
Challenge 9
I had to convert it to a mov file but here it is.
@agile ruin oh, I didn't think of shortening the time drastically. I just knew I didn't like the fade in. But yeah, a very short fade in would look better. Thanks
Gave +1 Creative Carma to Kladi Printmysoul
@bleak fossil Thank you! I will take your advice about varying the speed of the stars, good idea! Animation is a little foreign for me but I am happy to learn about it and actually like it a lot. Thanks again! 🙂

Hi! I'm Cathy and very new to photoshop. I'm taking this challenge to force myself to learn/explore the program. Also trying to isolate/ stay away from people due to the Corona Virus so I thought this would be a great time to take the photoshop daily creative challenge. I look forward to seeing your work - I am already inspired! Here's today's challenge as a jpeg.
@river bison yes we will get the first challenge tomorrow
Hi Everyone, One more member to this journey, I had a longing to learn photoshop from a long time now due to isolation of Corona. I have all the time to start this one. Hello, I'm Glitchy and i'm new to photoshop, but i'm kinda good at merging two photos into one, funny, photo, but Any advice?
Thank you, Kladi! (big smile)
@delicate depot Hello Glitchy, welcome in! My only real advice is practice. The more you do, the more techniques and methods you pick up, and the more you refine the ones you already know. These challenges are great for introducing new techniques, methods, and tricks. The more you do the more you’ll find you’re picking up new things and see your work improve.
Thank you for the advice! 😀
No problem 😄
Really excited to be participating in the Photoshop Daily Challenge for the first time. It will be fun to get some practice with powerful piece of software. https://www.behance.net/gallery/93866415/Daily-Creative-Challenge-March-16-27
OK - @bleak fossil @agile ruin - I was going to post this earlier, but Discord was acting all weird.. Anyhoo, I punched up her hair a bit - I actually used an overlay layer, and opened up the neck shadow a bit. Thanks for the tips and feedback! 👍

@ruby panther Your design for Challenge 8 is looking great! I like the clean graphics of it all, and the cast shadow of the line down the center as well as the shadow of the pyramid shapes adds some nice dimension. I like how the pyramid type shapes break the dividing frame, I wonder if doing that with some of the stars at the top might be a nice unifying touch as well? Really nice job on this!
@winter tinsel Really nice smooth animation on Challenge 9, well done! The mov file definitely gives some nice quality quality results compared to a gif, looks good 👍
@meager mason Very cool! The animation challenge is looking really nice. Nice work on the color shift, and the speed of the shooting stars looks really nice. Could even be nice to slow down the moon rising to contrast the stars even more. Very nicely done!
@jovial moss Woo, nice! Looking forward to seeing what everyone comes up with! 👍
Here's my Challenge 8 😀
@humble viper Really nice design on Challenge 5! The colors look great. It seems like the design could be lined up with the mockup on the bottom left edge a touch more, but that’s a fairly subtle detail. Looks good!
@tropic knoll Ooh, very nice! I think the text could use a bit of separation from the background, whether that be in value or hue. Making it more noticeably lighter from the background, and maybe warmer more towards yellow could help give it some additional contrast. Nice work with the animation effects!
@frail ice Hello Cathy! Really happy you’re joining us, these challenges are always covering different methods and techniques so they’re definitely a great place to pick up new things. This looks good, nice work!
@rose salmon Challenge 9 is looking good! Really liking the colors and gradients you have going here. My only thought is the blue text on the left doesn’t quite have as much contrast for a strong read as it could. Maybe making it a bit darker could help? Nicely done!
@bleak fossil Thanks a lot for your valuable feedback, it's always very helpful. Shall do the necessary changes and upload it again soon. Thanks once again 🙂

@rose salmon yes! Love the secondary animation of the clouds and the subtle star twinkles 🙂 . The direction of the shooting stars should probably follow their orientation. The second one could perhaps be angled more vertically, if that makes sense ^^
@marsh wadi Nicely done! The blue and the white harmonize beautifully. It totally feels like a night-time scene, even though you wouldn't normally connect those colors with "nighttime" scenes.
@ruby panther just one last idea from me - you could perhaps rearrange the title like this. In your version, the text almost touches the red border
@glacial path Yeah, that does look better. Thank you. And great stream w/ Val yesterday! I don't draw a lick but I was very entertained!

My Take on Mr Miaow
Here is day 1 challenge, before and after. I think there may be some problems with my original photo. I had worked on it before, blurring background and who knows what else! But here it is. Oh, this is my cat Ivy!
Camera Raw

I don't have a pet of my own to edit, so I'm glad you don't mind me editing yours. I hope I did a good enough job. 🙂
My attempt with Mr. Meow . Trying do one with my own pet now!
Is mr. meow too light?

First challenge attempt! Used an old photo I had of a fox from my garden. I don't think it looks great, haven't used the camera raw filter before!
Original image
Here's the original photo (my real name is Ryan Benoit - the guy who won the stickers for his son)
My try on Mr. Meo, what do you guys think?😄
HI, my result ... I did 2 things different: 1. Gave a little punch to the eyes with the radial filter and some clarity. 2. Instead of using the radial filter to blur the surrounding I tried to fake a "wide open aperture" with 2 gradient filters from below and above, within the above one I erased the effect with the brush inside of the gradient filter. What do you think? Greetings from Germany
@jovial moss nice job! Claire , could you please tell me how you did it like that?
Thankyou at @sage thistle . I used the camera raw filter as @lethal mural showed in the live stream. I did some overall adjustments including sharpening and vignette. I then added local adjustments - shadows with one brush and highlights with another.
Hi everyone, here's my attempt with an old photo I took.
@lethal mural I am really struggling to do it with my own pet. I don't know if it is because she is all black or maybe the picture isn't suitable. I just seem to make her look worse 😦 . I can't take another photo as she recently passed on 😦 . Can you offer any advice? Also trying make it look like just her in the photo.

@uncut ginkgo Thankyou so much 🙂
Hello everyone! Here is my submission for today's challenge. I live in the mountains so I was able to capture this photo of a bear outside of my office! 😅 I took the photo on my iPhone so I think it's a bit noisy. I went the black and white edit route. I would love any suggestions or feedback! Thank you! 😀
@jovial moss I would try more dodging than burning to brighten her up. Also in camera raw I would try to make the shadows brighter to bring in more detail.
Thankyou @lethal mural I will try now
Here is my first try.
Had a nice wee play about. This is my cat, Fred. Would normally edit in Lightroom so this was one of my first efforts doing anything in Photoshop.

Original shot of Willie.
I watched the video later. Great stuff, Jesus. Just one question: the Camera Raw panel looks and acts very much like Lightroom. Why wouldn't I just use my Lightroom brushes for burning, dodging and blurring? Thanks for some great instruction.
My take on the Mr. Meow portrait. I decided not only keep him in color but also tweak/enhance the color a tad to give some nice contrast between his grey and orange coloring. I also clean up some other elements that I found distracting in the photo using Content aware fill.
@lethal mural Thank you so much for your feedback on my bear animal portrait! I did use the Clone Stamp to get rid of the distractions which caused the spots. I didn't know you could use blend modes with the Spot Healing brush. I've learned so much from watching your streams and I'm excited for the future challenges!

@blazing cairn I completely agree with @void hornet and I appreciate that you didn't turn the photo to black and white. This way you showed us even more possibilities with what we've learned today without changing the nature of image completely! Great work! 👏

color retouch with some dodge & burn and spot healing
Challenge #1 In addition to the Camera Raw correction brush i added a gray layer and used the dodge and burn
Added a mask to get my favorite version
LOL I never even noticed the blue leash in the background. I should have removed that from the color one. Oh well. I saved as a PSD so I can still fix it.

Hi! This is my first challenge. I'm starting with Mr. Meow
tried one in color too
Here’s my attempt at Challenge 1! 🙏🏼 thank you for the opportunity to enhance my development! If anyone has comments questions or feedback I would love to hear any and all!
For St. Patrick's Day
Lightroom edits adjusted the highlights and the shadows and the clarity also the barrel distortion
original
Day 1 Challenge
I went dramatic and surreal. I also tried a composite.
@lime sage nicely done! I like the focus on the tongue and the eyes. I believe you could add some grain via camera raw to get rid of the blocky artifacts, visible on the tongue. The near-black&white look could really work well with a bit of grain 🙂 - Here is how to apply realistic grain https://www.behance.net/gallery/78746469/Photoshop-Protip-Realistic-Grain-in-Camera-Raw
@vital cypress yeees! That's the spirit! Your dodge and burn skills are on point and I really like the composited background. Just two things to be aware of: the fur has a lot of color noise due to the darkness of the fur itself
so I would use this filter to get rid of the color noise
I would leave all the sliders at 0 and only increase the color noise slider
and the second thing is a very minor detail, but you have a weird edge right here. Perhaps you can smooth out this line and take away some of the white 🙂
@manic loom Well done! You only notice how distorted the image actually is, when you remove the distortion via Lightroom/Camera Raw 🙂 . I love what you did with the highlights here
but also up in the corner. You don't really notice it, but because of this edit, the background is much more vibrant and vivid.
The original image is obviously much softer and more gentle on the texture, but your edits absolutely make the texture shine! (Which only works, if you already have a great photo - so great job 🙂 )
my suggestion would (if at all) be a very subtle recrop to center both dogs horizontally by taking away a bit from the left
Challenge #1 My lovely "always screaming for more food" cat. I wish I had a better picture with more fur detail. Oh well...🙂
@vast osprey woah, this could be the new super hero cat: "Uranium cat" 😛 - Really creative idea with the unusual colors. I believe, it would look more natural, if you only color in the cat. You then could leave some parts untouched, like the eyes and the nose
It could look like this
(this is without any dodging or burning)
@magic hedge Great job 😄 you have totally transformed the entire image by changing the hue of the eyes. The black&white version in combination with the added grain adds so much more drama to the whole missing food situation. Nicely done!
Place card for DCC
❤️ First challenge! This was fun.
Stare Down: Dodging & Burning
Thanks😃 @glacial path
Stare Down: B/W with Camera Raw Filter tools
Here's my edits of the 1st challenge. Note, I'm an experienced Lightroom user. This would've been faster to do there.
@idle bear Awww, how cute is this doggo 😄 - I think you did a nice job with the shadows - the resolution of the image appears to be rather low. My recommendation always is a minimum of 1000x1000 pixels. It will make your work much easier. But well done 🙂
@coral cloak if you use this for the thumbnail of your Behance project, just make sure to use all the available size of the thumbnail 🙂 - otherwise the text will be too small to read
@safe ledge oh dear, the worlds saddest dog! Hope everything is alright over there 🙂 - your edits look very natural and I like the added grain. A subtle darker vignette could help to focus the attention on the center of the image 🙂
Had a lot of fun doing this challenge. Love the level of control I've learned with such simple tools 🙂

My daily challenge 🐈
Hello!
I can't upload my file here. Says it is to big...
How did everyone upload their photo?
just make your image file small
export it as a jpeg not a PNG
@indigo fiber If you save as a jpeg you can choose the quality setting, I usually do 11 out of 12 because it cuts down the file size quite a bit with no real quality difference. Also images around 1000 pixels at the smallest dimension should be fairly small files while still being good quality for sharing.

My version of challenge 2. going to try with a different subject now.

finish, I think I'll colorize her pants and maybe the trees?
Day 2 Interesting workflow. I like it.
Day 1 Love this technique
Original subject from Adobe stock
Version with my subject. Was much easier with the images provided in challenge, not sure if I have done it right with my subject!?
@indigo fiber If you save as a jpeg you can choose the quality setting, I usually do 11 out of 12 because it cuts down the file size quite a bit with no real quality difference. Also images around 1000 pixels at the smallest dimension should be fairly small files while still being good quality for sharing.
@raven condor This is looking really solid, loving that contrast, especially in the face. Really pulls the eye and creates a nice strong focal point. Looks really good!
@celest cove Really nice job with the chair arm removal! The contrast adjustment gives the image a really nice dramatic look too, and I like how you brightened up the other eye. I think it could look good to add an adjustment to slightly darken down the body area to keep the brightest contrast around the face. Might help strengthen that focal point, even if it’s fairly subtle. Nicely done!
@uncut relic Very cool, I like the drama of the black and white, hah. I think a simple vignette might look good on this image to pull some more contrast into the face by darkening down the surrounding area a bit. Might give it some nice focus. Looks good!
Gay 2 Curves Adjustment Layers
My second attempt on the another image for the first Challenge. Let me know what can be improved on this low size image ?
Challenge 2
@kindred gate Ooh the Mikey image is looking good, always great to see the before and after. I like the temperature shift, the cooler colors and dramatic lighting really change the mood and feel. I really like that spotlight effect you got. Very cool, nice work!
@proper cave Very nice, I really like the dramatic feel of this image. I think that dramatic contrast suits these grayscale images nicely. Looking good!
@limber willow Glad to hear it! These adjustments for big color and value changes are so helpful to quickly and easily affect an image. This is looking really nice! I think it could look good to use a simple vignette or darken down the area around the face to give it a bit more value contrast. Might help pull the eye into the face even more. Nice work 😄
@woven patrol Some really nice work there to strengthen that focal point of the face, looking good! I like the subtle blur and way you make the face the brightest part. Really effective editing!
@fringe mirage Yeah, I primarily use Photoshop and find these edits pretty quick and easy, but I think Photoshop excels when that’s in addition to other edits being done such as retouching, compositing, etc. Lightroom seems great for photo adjustments and such for sure. This is looking good by the way, nice focus being drawing into the face of the cat. Nicely done!
@desert stump Very cool! Really great job blurring the background, it gives the foreground some great focus and kind of abstracts the background, like it could be anything, which kind of fits the feel of the image. My only suggestion is the cat’s face seems like it could be brightened a bit, something about it seems a bit dark. It also might help to use the refine edge brush tool within the quick selection tool to get those clean soft edges that can often be tricky with hair and fur. Here’s a super short video if it helps https://youtu.be/c2I7X92IVGk Really nice work on this challenge!
@quick breach Looks good Robbie, some really nice contrast and focus towards the face in this one! The grain effect is a nice touch too, looking good 👍
@azure lintel Hah, so cute, is this your cat? It’s always nice to be able to see the before image to see the changes that were made. But I really like the focus on the cat, with the background and foreground being more blurred. Definitely gives it a strong read. Looks good!
@magic hedge Hah, I can relate, we get that from our cats all the time. What a cute floofy kitty. This has a really nice feel to it with the grayscale, and I like the little retouch you did on the dark strand of fur near the whiskers on the left. I feel like a vignette effect would really suit this image and strengthen that strong contrasted look while pulling focus into the face even more. Nicely done, the blue eyes are a really cool effect!
@vast osprey Hah, very nice. I like Tim’s suggestion, but if you’re looking to keep a green tint to the whole thing a gradient map could be an interesting option. Essentially you can assign a color to different levels of brightness/darkness. Often times there’s hue and saturation shifts between areas in light and areas in shadow. Or even just a colored photo filter can often give a good tint effect and look quite natural. Nice work 😄
@storm garnet This is looking good, and I’m really glad you could join us 😄 I like the general brightness of this image, it gives it a light friendly feeling compared to the more dramatic feeling the deeper darks can give the image. I think this is looking solid as is, but a slight vignette effect using a multiply layer or masked levels adjustment layer could be a nice way to pull a little more focus into the face and away from other bright areas like the top and bottom of the chair, the paws, etc. Nothing too drastic, but a subtle vignette could be a nice touch. Nice work 👍
Day 2 Challenge
@bleak fossil omg thank you so much for your feedback it means a lot! I’m completely new to these programs so it’s definitely nerve-racking but I’m committed to learning and trying out each challenge. Challenge #2 is going to be a bit more for me so stay tune!! Thanks again! 🙏🏼

Our dog "Lola" Challenge 1
I struggled a bit with the colors but here's my attempt
Challenge 2
PS Challenge #2
Challenge #1
First time using photoshop!
@sleek smelt Ahh nice, cool to see a challenge changing up the image a bit with this squirrel! If it were me I might try adding a masked levels adjustment on the squirrel to boost the contrast even further since the values of the image all blend together a bit. Also adding a slight vignette to and even blurring the background slightly to focus the detail on the squirrel might help too. Maybe something like this? Nice work :D
@blazing quail Looking good Ant! Nice work on the masking, that can be tricky especially on hair like that. Though I think the one spot of hair on the left could be touched up a bit where it's getting a bit of a ghosting effect. My only other suggestion is I think you could probably boost the darks even a bit more to fit the environment which has quite a bit of dramatic shadows. Nice work with the color shift!
@modern halo Nice work with the color shift for Challenge 2. It helps the lighting match that warm background. I think a really quick and effective edit would be to give the man a levels or curves adjustment to boost the darks up quite a bit. You want to match the contrast of the darks with that of the background otherwise they tend to seem like they don’t fit together. Nice job 👍
@fast moth Ooh, very nice, these are fitting together quite well! I do notice the darks are a bit deeper in the background, I think boosting the darks with a quick levels adjustment on the girl would help her fit into the scene even more while also strengthening her as a focal point. Really cool image for Day 2!
@bitter osprey These are looking great! Awesome to see you use your own photo as well, really nice job on the masking and solid color correction! The background blur is a nice touch. I think you could probably boost the darks on the person just a hair on the one with your own photo to match the deep darks of the background, but that's a minor nitpick. These are looking really solid!
Being a Photographer (sort of) I'm more comfortable with this sort of challenge than the 'design' ones. Although they are fun to do these are the ones I can carry into my Hobby so Thanks adobe and @lethal mural 👍 Great stuff

Hi guys Hi Jesus, just joined the challenge today so catching up on Yesterdays Challenge. Here is my go at the Pet Portrait Challenge working with the Dodge and burn tool.
Look forward to your feedback.
Day 1 challenge: my pup Pasha 🙂
tried to add a tiny eye light
My attempt at challenge 7. I don't have an instagram account so I just had fun with creating adjustments to each slice.
Hey guys, I am behind. I drank wayyyyyy to much last night. Anyway, here's my submission for the first challenge. I'll work on 2 as soon as I can get over the feeling of dying. LOL
What is the AI discord?
Hello! I tried adding a slight touch of blue to change the atmosphere and aura of the pic a little! 👀
Here is my take on today's daily challenge. I started off using some of the adjustments we learned yesterday to get the lighting to a point that I wanted it. I then added some grain to the top layer to replicate the grain in the bottom layer and fake the higher ISO that was probably used in the background photo. I then color adjusted the subject and blurred the background. I also added a bit of blur on the subjects shoulders to add some depth and help sell the depth of field that was created in the background.
Still trying to figure out the sizing for photos on Discord. Here is a larger version of my final
Challenge 2 I had to use a better picture to match background lighting...
Why has no one just flipped him around yet? 🤣
PSDCC #2 Curves Adjustment Layers
OOF! Some people submitted his flipped version while I was working on mine. @true holly @slow python Way to go!
@neat flax It was literally the first thing that I did. Actually I tried flipping the background first, but the open sign was then backwards.
@true holly I just noticed! lol 🤣
This was a tough one. I had to watch the video like a dozen times, but I think I got it. Definitely need to practice more now.
challenge 1
First attempt I went for the Creepy Guy at the Front Desk at the Overlook Hotel. Used tilt shift blur just for fun. Over did the eyes..but I was going for creepy!
2nd attempt..more family friendly!
Well, I'll try to upload Challenge 2. Apparently there are disallowed words somewhere in the three cat images I tried to upload for challenge one. I used the Unsplash background provided with a 3-D cartoon cat from AdobeStock for this portrait.
@forest aspen Love the cat...that background really needed humor!
that cat!!!!
Why has no one just flipped him around yet? 🤣
@neat flax Yeah, now that I look at it, flipping him makes more sense with the lighting in the background image. Good catch.

@fringe mirage Much better!
Day 2 Version 2 went a little bokeh
@plain sable Definitely bokeh!
This is DCC1. Now, I want everyone to understand that the first image is absolutely gorgeous and it hurt me to edit the photo at all really, but I wanted to challenge myself and see if I could in anyway turn this beautiful photo into an at least decent black&white photo. I think it's okay, and I would be happy to own either one of these portraits of a kitty.
Also, learning to use the Camera Raw Paintbrush was HARD! Took me like half an hour to get acquainted with that thing! LOL!
Hi, my first challenge done

Challenge 2--what can I say?
Challenge 2, Wanted to try this again on my own image. 😀
I tried a different image combo. Took a while to get the color & luminosity of the teddy bear where I thought it was close to believable. Still not quite sure it's there yet.
I tried a different image combo. Took a while to get the color & luminosity of the teddy bear where I thought it was close to believable. Still not quite sure it's there yet.
@compact pecan This is fun! I think you need a lot more shadow on the left side of the bear, and the right side can be a bit brighter.
@meager saffron I think you need to get more red tones into the model's image. The contrast is good (though I think you could go even darker overall, since your background is now darker).
@fervent violet I would go darker on your blacks - they feel too light compared to the background.
@bitter cradle You're too cute! This totally creates a different mood, I love it! I would bring your darks even darker, to match the tone of the background.
@plain sable LOVE the bokeh version. Looks like it's macro. Very cool.
@tardy karma This is hysterical. Love it! Your subject has a lot more color than your background. I would desaturate her way more, and exaggerate the contrast/curves way more, to match King's Landing. And then the firelight reflection on her skin would pop even more.
Finally got to the first challenge. This was fun.
Definitely would love some feedback on this as it's the first time I've ever tried anything like this! See below for my COMPOSITE image b/c something happened to the color based on the way I saved this "document" so the final image is below! Thanks.

Day 1 Retouching, This is Zed my puffing snake. Increasing texture helps scales really pop too.
ok I tend to do multiple challenges combined within a picture and rarely use the down loads prefer the principals .... so this one takes the economy at present , using adobe paint, object selection, composites, created background, blending modes, layers, crystal ball challenge, portrait touch ups with paint, and adjustment layers - also I use the filter gallery poster and cut out with blend modes to achieve a look I am going after I paint a lot learning how the brushes work - will need to make my own brushes because not happy with the ones presently but that is another time.

I thought his shoulder should actually have some light spilling onto it so I added a yellow paint layer to add a bit more highlight there @lethal mural What do you think?
@lethal mural I want to get more into composites with my art so I found this very interesting. I had never used curves or layer fill properties in that way before. But I can see how it helps a lot with matching the surroundings. I wondered if I should whiten or brighten up his eyes a bit. His shirt does not seem white like this but I guess it wouldn't under these lighting condidtions?
@mild spruce I think it looks good. I'm not sure what you started out with, but it seems well integrated to me. Nice.
@compact pecan Pretty cool! Very creepy vibe!!! Maybe the Teddy could´ve been a little darker, specially from the left side so it blended better with the light coming form the right on the wall!
@mild spruce This is awesome dude! I loce the magical feeling from it! Looking up closer there is a little issue with the masking with the ropes and it seems to soft around her head, maybe a little more contrast when masking the subject?
a redo of yesterdays colour match challenge with a couple of images off Pexels. Tried to challenge myself with images that were a little harder to work on. Did I succeed??
Challenge #1 Feedback
I'm playing catch-up so here's yesterday's challenge with Mr. Meow (I had to colorize him - too tempting...)
Thanks so much!
cleaned up the chair a bit after the process. stray hairs all over the place.
I think you wouldn't be getting a ton of highlight coming over his shoulder in reality, so the kiss of brightness on his collar is enough to show the light reflecting and reacting to the portrait
So Day 2 is one I can't stop working on, it's that on going problem, when is it done...
Love it! @plain sable
Thanks @versed harness

Just trying to keep up.
Hi
Just completed my #Challenge01!
A little bit late but here is my retouching file 🙃
burning tool
original🧐
you can find me at Fullmetalangel @pulsar glenstagram
Here we go! Final and Original. Must say the automatic masking options are working great! I applied a field blur stronger towards the vanishing point and diminishing to the FG. Pretty cool lesson!!! Had to correct the contrast after exporting because it wasn´t matching between subject and background.

PS DCChallenge 02 Curves-Adjustment, work in progress
@young karma Nicely done! Really liking the deep dramatic contrast in the grayscale image of the dog. Nice job!
@brisk elk Very nice, really liking the sort of golden color/lighting match. I think a simple levels/curves adjustment to boost the darks up a decent would really help fit him in with the scene and match the contrast of the background. Nice work 😄
@gray kayak Looking good so far Jody! Really liking the dream-like feel of the sort of blown out/wispy edges!
@silver trench Very cool Vandam! I really like how the shape of the fire rises up into the eagle. I like the little bit of motion blur you seem to have on the tail, I wonder if just a tiny hint of motion blur on the tips of the wings might give it even more of a sense of movement. Really nice work!
@uneven sun Really nice job, the masking is looking solid! Nice job keeping the softness of the edge of the hair. I think perhaps the colors could be matched a bit more? The background seems to have a color grading to it that makes it fairly cool in color temperature but the portrait seems to be quite warm and saturated in comparison. It almost looks like he's standing in front of a large poster or something as a result. Just a thought. Nice job on this!
@pulsar walrus Ooh, this is looking great! I love the added contrast of the girl against the simple background. Really makes her pop and a strong focal point. The red/green color scheme works really well too! My only thought is the green behind her almost looks a little too like a thick "fog" or something due to the lack of transparency. Maybe a blending mode that we can see through a bit more would look more natural, or even just reducing the opacity of that fog a bit might help? Nice work on this challenge 😄
@left abyss Ooh, very cool! Yeah, some really great contrast on the scales, and I really love how you pulled attention and focus to the face with the sharpness and contrast. Really nicely done!
@tame jacinth That’s the great thing with these challenges, is once you go through the process once you find a lot of other situations you can apply it to and practice it further. This is really cool, I like your choice of photos. I think you might have a little more precision with your selections around areas like the hand if you use the quick selection tool. I often find that can get some really nice selections. It might also help to increase her contrast so her dark values go as deep as the ones in the background. Nice work with this, very cool image!
@junior frost Very nice, the color matching is looking solid! My only suggestion would be to increase the contrast with a levels adjustment to boost the darks of the person to match the contrast of the deep darks of the background. It might fit the two together a bit more. Looking good!
@bold valley Nice work with these challenges, the retouching image is looking really nice and clean! My only thoughts are that you might have a little more luck with the edges of the cat fur on the Day 2 challenge if you use something like the quick selection tool with the refine edge brush tool. That can be great at getting those clean soft edges in a natural way. Nice job on these!
this second make my day what you did in second image
with photoshop i have problem with color match is not my taste lol
awsome! 🙂
Yesterdays Challenge
challenge 2 - curves adjustment layer - completely new to me again, but gave it a go...I'm enjoying learning these new skills🙂
@bleak fossil Thanks for the nice comment.

My day 3 Challenge
I really enjoyed this challenge learned a lot.
Really enjoying the challenges, learnt so much already.
Challenge#3_After Feedback
Here's my day 1 again, with a better photo to work with. It's old, shot with a Minolta years ago. Focus is a little soft, but I hope it works better!
My attempt on my pic. I know there are issues with the removal of background objects
Think this is a better crop?
Just got my #1 challenge done. Comments please
Challenge 3
Is this better being darker and blurred in the background. My lighter one is a few above. Many thanks
#Challenge02 completed, thanks for your amazing lessons! @lethal mural

Thankyou so much for the feedback. I have amended now. Is this better?
Challenge 3
Thoughts??😆
Day 3 Sorry, I just had to.
DCC day 3 - layer styles
here we are ... challenge 3 with a slightly different idea ...
Is anyone else encountering a greyed out "Content Aware Fill"? I've tried everything I can find and its still greyed out. Thx!
@blazing cairn please check: is the correct layer active or is it (perhaps) an adjustment layer? is the layer locked?
Thank you @mortal hollow ! Its the background layer and its not locked. Its the same set up as the Jesus's video. I thought the problem was selected the image, but I think I've done that correctly. I did see something about not being able to use Content Aware Fill on a Smart Object, but the original file is coming over as a Smart Object
Gave +1 Creative Carma to Wolfgang
@blazing cairn , yep, you cannot change the content of a smart object, you have to rasterize it first
ohhh, I'm not, but happy to help ... enjoy PS 🙂
Oh...take the praise and run with it! 😉

@bleak fossil Thanks a lot for the feedback! I will make sure pay greater attention to the color matching in the future! 😄
Challenge 3 results. Another fun one, thanks to @lethal mural !!!

Challenge 3
Here is my version of Challenge 3. (PS its not like AArron... lol. First name is Andrew, last name Arbutina).
Challenge Day 3! Sports in 2020. Also used my favorite new trick from yesterday: Eliminating the light blending on underlying layers. That trick is seriously game changing for me. THANK YOU!
Does anyone know if there is going to be a live review session today like there was yesterday? It was very interesting to hear the feedback that @lethal mural gave.

@true holly I assume so! Probably soon??
Day 3 Layer Styles
@plain sable This is gorgeous. I love the colors!
Today's challenge...was a challenge!
Just got Day 1 challenge done, using my dog Gus.
Day 1 Before Image

Some where along the line I lost the background. But I love the finished product. 😆
Day 3 Challenge! I rewatched the video from this morning and tried again....This is my before and after....

This is my Result for the Curves Adjustment Challenge!
@lethal mural what do you think?

Challenge 3 Layer Styles... this is so motivating, thank you!
Here comes my Challenge #2 exercise; though a bit late, I still able to get it done. I used a photo I took a while ago with a star filter lens. The blurring effect I did onto background also blurred the "stars". I wonder doing so is improving the realistic of the image or making it worse. Please share thoughts. Thx
Thoughts??😆
@sullen silo great job there!
Game on
second try
Challenge 2 - My friend asked me to put the gnome from her painting into the forest. Since he appears from the non-physical realm, I made him slightly transparent and a little glowy. The background photo I chose had some color filters already applied to make it more dreamy-looking, but the light effects are straight from the camera capture.
the original foreground image
P.s took me a little while to realise Camera Raw Filter doesn't work on CMYK colour mode.
Pet Challenge
My Challenge 2 Result
Challenge 2, the coloring and contrast still seems off. Still a fun project
Cool tutorial, very helpful!
Challenge 3
#Challenge03 completed! On hold for the rest!!
I wanted to make something worthy to go on a wall but not to bright. Should I add more splash? Any thoughts. Thanks.
Challenge 3 - This image (not a composite) was captured at a How Weird Street Faire in SF many years ago and the juxtapositions just delight me to no end. I came across it looking for a "sports" image in my files 😂 for the challenge.
@neat carbon Very cool, I like how you used your own photo for the background! I think it makes sense for the star effects to blur with the rest of the background. I think it almost seems similar to the bokeh effect you sometimes see with blurred backgrounds. The lighting seems to fit nicely, as if he’s standing near a light or heat lamp. Nice work!
@raven condor Really liking that sort of radial effect off the colored rays off the person, gives it a nice sense of perspective and works nicely with the pose. Really nice clean work with the masking on this image, looking really solid!
@plain sable Looking good Sno! I really like the direction of the rays which adds nicely to the movement. I do wonder if a bit of a brightness boost to the rays would help pop her out a little bit more and give the whole image a bit more contrast and punch. Text looks good too!
@crude fox Looking very nice! The colors match nicely and fit together very well. I think you could boost the darks of the man a bit more to match the deep darks of the background, but that’s a pretty minor note. Nicely done!
@winter tinsel This turned out great! Really love the depth you got by separating the image into 3 elements. The glow/blur around the outside of the player also adds some great contrast and sense of movement. You really nailed this one!
@coral cloak Really nice work adjusting the lighting to match the scene! The colors match nicely as well. I think the perspective looks pretty good, but if anything making the background a bit slower/the portrait a bit higher would look a bit more natural? Nice job!
@brisk elk Hah, I think the radiating lines of the background add a really interesting effect! It could be nice to keep it less saturated or even black and white to really make the soccer player pop, but it has a pretty interesting effect as is. Nice job with this design!
Edit: After seeing your updated image I think this is a great balance! The toned down background really pulls attention to the player now.
@rancid vale Nice job, I like the consistent red throughout the image! The rays coming out from the player are looking good too. I feel like you could probably push them even further in terms of length and brightness to fill a bit more of that background space if you wanted. Might give it a bit more impact. Looks good 👍
@vast osprey Nice job, the pop of color on the player really draws the eye very well. It could be nice to see a bit stronger of a linear ray effect coming off the player to really push that sense of movement. It’s a minor detail, but softening that hard line between the text in the background might help. The sharpness seems out of place with the otherwise soft background. Just a few thoughts, nice work with this color effect!
@spiral apex Really great pop of color against the background, I especially like how you emphasized the red in the image, it unifies it nicely. The bold text works well too, looks good!
@fiery tulip The ray and coloring effect are all looking really nice! It could look nice to have all the rays have a uniform color or saturation to really pop the soccer player out. Just a thought. Nice work with these effects!
@fervent violet Hah, very nice work on Challenge 3! It's always nice and interesting to see these challenges applied to different photos. The color really adds a nice pop! It could be nice to have the helmet of the boy in color too, it really seems to draw some nice focus towards the face of the man which could help give equal attention to both figures. Nice work with the masking and color/ray effects!
@proper cave Looking good, the color definitely has a really strong pop in this image! I see some rays a bit, but it could be nice to push them even further and make them more prominent to really sell the effect. Especially with areas like the kicking leg to give that sense of motion. Nice job on this!
@vague swift This is looking really solid! He seems to fit in really convincingly with the background. I like how you saved the most warmth for the area of light on his face on the left side of the image. This turned out nice!
@left abyss Very cool! I think you could probably go darker with the darks of the cat to be a bit closer to the original image. Currently I think the darks of the environment are darker and make it feel a little out of place. It might also keep to go less towards the green range with the cat's colors, the environment seems a bit cooler in color temperature than the original cat photo, but I don't think it'd hit that green range so much. Perhaps both of those things might help a bit. Nice work putting these together! 😄
@unique veldt Haha, I like the total lack of context with this image. Really nice job on the color masking in this one! The red of the rays and the text work together nicely to make the whole thing more cohesive. Looks good!
@split pier I think you struck a really nice balance with this image! The repeated white elements in this design give the whole image a nice unified look. The pop of color works extremely well too. My only thought is it might be nice to see all the rays colorized to really make the player pop and give it a consistent look. Really nice work on the direction of the rays, gives it some nice movement!
@jovial bay Haha, very nice, I like the tag line. Really nice job masking the color off on this challenge! I wonder if a bolder font might suit this image better? Perhaps making the text red would add a nice cohesive feel to the image by repeating the red of the player as well. Just some thoughts, looking good!
Here's my contribution!
Thanks @bleak fossil I did try to pull our the Ray's will try again

Challenge 1 - The vignetting added a nice drama to this "next to the refrigerator" shot. That was fun!
Day 3 challenge
@lethal mural Day 3, i'm not original this time, i just copy yourself haha
OK so its not really a sports image, but I am trying to use my own images more and don't any sports ones that are suitable. I had a heap of traditional dancers in my Indian photos including kids from the school I taught at in Kerala, but the background was not the best for them.
Original
Challenge 2 attempt two, reduced Red curve and softened light.
@hidden pendant looks way better! The contrast match between subject and BG might be better but definetly great improvement! I would focus on the subject´s skin and try to add a little contrast (a cotrast adjustment layer might be all you need)
Thank you @young karma Contrast Adjustment added
