@fallow bough It's awesome! Thanks for taking my advice
Gave +1 Creative Carma to Ken Cawley
In the meantime, though, I also started playing with the color lookup tables and now can't decide which color works best for my final image. I would love feedback on which color everyone likes.
This is my challenge 5: Brush Making
@narrow glade They all look great, don't you hate when that happens lol. I like the first one a lot, but maybe mask out the effect on the moon and ghosts so they retain the white and stand out from the image.
@narrow glade all those colours work nicely, but my favourite is the first, orangey one ... maybe just because it's such a halloween colour 🎃
Day 6. Was inspired by all the Saul Bass-sque graphic centered designs.
@bleak fossil Thank you!
Gave +1 Creative Carma to SamPetersonArt
@vernal lake That lettering looks cool. What if you did the same thing with the flowers-so they looked like a sticker or something painted on the bricks. Right now they stand out away from the wall more than the words do.
@narrow glade Thanks for the Feedback. I will try to do the same with the flower. I didn't do it before, because I wanted the flower to look like it grew out of the wall rather than being painted or a sticker.
Gave +1 Creative Carma to magerber
@silver trench Thank you! I'm glad it still gets identified as water. I was a little concerned it might look like blood due to the red colour. 😅
@bleak fossil Ha! You are ever so right! I blurred the horns and gave them a colour layer because I didn't like them. To conceal their ugliness in fact. And so I entered the style clash... Thanks for the feedback!
Varient - the tent allowed for more distort mapping to experiment with.
@vernal lake, unfortunately, right now--at least to me--it looks too separate from the wall. Maybe you can use some of the transform tools and some feathering to make the edges softer and give it the appearance of growing out of the wall instead of using the distortion mapping?
mockup
Okay, here is my final Day 6 challenge. Thanks for all the help and feedback everyone provided. Now on to Day 7. The images are from Pexels.com and Stockio.com
@honest gorge Your "Cell" looks fantastic. I love that story. Stylistically, your design looks like a perfect match to the "Mr. Mercedes" cover with the umbrella and blood rain. I can see them sitting next to eachother on a store display no problem. Awesome job.
Thanks @high wharf 😉
Gave +1 Creative Carma to Jesse S.
Day 7 - All about a lady in a lake - this time I didn't forget to smoothen the text @glacial path 🙃
@narrow glade okay, I will have another round on the flower then. Thanks for your Feedback 🙂
Gave +1 Creative Carma to magerber
@hearty wharf It certainly is! I like it!
thanks so much for reassuring @willow nebula - yours looks very serene!

@hearty wharf Thank you 🙂

please have a look at my behance project - still work in progress ... it's such a fun challenge, thanks @sterile bane https://www.behance.net/gallery/86889903/Photoshop-Daily-Creative-Challenge-1019

@sharp lily yeeeees! Love the new version 😄
Day 7 displacement map
@glacial path Thanks to your tips!
Gave +1 Creative Carma to evil
@ebon sparrow Wow! I think that's pretty dang close to perfection! The dark red color really works well here. Good idea with the shadow - but it should be in front of the text to match the other shadow of the person
Well done, seriously 😄
thanks @glacial path . I know about shadow direction but I just didnt liked it in front. So I made title to look like separate part of whole composition. Maybe I just should've figured it how that shadow could look nice in front of the text.
Gave +1 Creative Carma to evil
@ebon sparrow ah, I see. yes, the front shadow could be distracting. Maybe you just go without the shadow
@prisma raven Nice work! The intricate lines in the sky are certainly an eye-catcher 🙂 The font is also pretty cool! I would perhaps reduce the number of planets in the background and go for only one or two bright ones. I don't think you have to blur them. The foreground and the stars behind them are in focus - therefore they also should be in focus
@hearty wharf wow, you went all out with all the different versions 😄 . I certainly can see an evolving art style in your project. My personal favorite is the Atlantis one, closely followed by Babyshark and dracula 👍
the colors are just wild! This could be an awesome poster
I'm almost done with my entry for Day 7 but I'm struggling with the Displacement map a little bit. I've applied it to the author's name but it remains the same and I don't know if I'm doing something wrong.
@glacial path ooh thanks for feedback, tim and for looking at the project, that's great - it's been such fun just sticking to the theme/tool and then make up a book! 😃
Gave +1 Creative Carma to evil
@willow nebula yeees, the text looks buttery smooth 😄 . Usually I would suggest to vertically center the text in the black boxes, but I think this off-center placement works beautifully. The water ripples around the person are a bit sharp. I think you could smoothen them slightly to match the softness of the surface
@deep mango the authors name is in front of a smooth background. therefore you won't get any significant displacement 🙂
There must be be some way because it worked on Kathleen's file where the text was on white background 🙂
@narrow glade haha, very spooky - love it 😄 The dramatic clouds in the background work well with the tree silhouette and the floating ghosts 👍 . I think the subtle drop shadow behind the book title was a god decision. It helps the text to stand out more against the dark background. I would probably go for a slightly brighter color though 🙂
@unreal crescent I think you could try placing the tent in an outdoor scene - somewhere spooky 😄 Just so the tent isn't floating around in empty space. I think you can even darken the blood stain slightly 🙂
@vernal lake Well done! This is a great usage of the displacement effect 🙂 Perhaps you can slightly brighten the black color a bit. Just enough so the wall shows through 🤔
@deep mango let me check 🙂
@glacial path I agree about the color of the text--for some reason it changed with the color lookup table even though I had the text masked off. I might fuss with it some more later today...
I see 🙂 - feel free to @ me if you post an updated version 👍 @narrow glade
@deep mango ah, it didn't work on stream as well (because a white background doesn't distort the text, it just moves the text a bit). In the original file, @sterile bane probably put the text over the flag, applied the displacement filter and moved it after applying the filter
this will move the displacement map with the text
Cool, I'll try it out now 🙂 Thanks @glacial path
Gave +1 Creative Carma to evil
@forest ivy That's a killer font 😄 I love the minimalist book design - all the shapes are very clean and the light cone certainly adds drama to the scene. One thing to try out and play around with is the perspective. You could make it look like the text is on the ground by using the free transform grid and distorting the words
By the way, I think you can make this stroke 100% black 🙂
@glacial path Will do! Thanks for the feedback!
Gave +1 Creative Carma to evil
@honest gorge oh my... that looks epic 😄 ! I hope those stains aren't permanent... Anyway, the do look very realistic and I like the slab serif font too 🙂 - I know, technically the blood wouldn't be dripping down since the phone isn't standing upright but the message is clear enough to be understood 🙂
@narrow glade ooh! Just discovered your other versions with the different colors 😄 The blue-ish cyan one and the green one do look pretty sweet!
@long void I like the loose lettering and the sketch 🙂 I think you could use a slightly more thin and textured brush for the sketch though. You could use one of the Kyle Webster pencil brushes or dry media brushes to mimic chalk
@fast moth Good job! The design looks clean and straight to the point. Perhaps you can use a taller font for the title? Just something with more impact 🙂
There happens to be a font pack for that exact usecase https://fonts.adobe.com/collections/the-resistance-pack
@edgy idol D.C. Challenge, sounds like an indie author 😄 - Great use of the displacement map and the reflection 🙂 I can see some residual parts of the sky here, perhaps you can mask those out 👍
Finally I managed to make it work, here's the final version of my entry for Day 7...for now 😄
And the finished design of the book cover
@deep mango ah nice! Great job on the displacement map 🙂 - I think you could smooth out the edge right here a bit. you can use the select and mask workspace for that. there should be a slider in there to round/smooth the selection 🙂
Thanks for the suggestion @glacial path I think I managed to smooth it out 🙂

Every horror title I thought of I couldn't come up with a design for so I went to my old home, Science Fiction. Is there too much blank space in this cover?
@austere root looks great, maybe fill up the rock with the word "the" so it looks like a continuation of the flow from the word "beyond".
@glacial path Thanks! That's a great suggestion.

PS DCC #7 Mochup
@fast moth Challenge 7 looks good! I really like what you did with the coloration of the hand, It looks really convincing like it’s painted on. This is more just personal preference but I think maybe the text could be brought down a couple notches and it might have a better balance. The color contrast works really well!
@deep mango Oh man, reminds me of when I watched the movie a year ago or so. That kid is so creepy, hah. Nice work! I feel like the colored corn looks out of place a bit. The rest of the image seems so sinister, but then the corn looks like something out of an ad. Might help it give it a red tint too, and maybe make the text another color to contrast? Or even just a darker red. It might help tie the whole image together a bit more. It might also help to get a higher resolution image of corn, it looks a bit blurry compared to the rest of the image. Unless you were trying to blur it out to draw focus to the face in the background. In the case I’d just make sure that the sharp edges get blurred too. Otherwise a sharper image might help. I usually just search on google by size when I need large images. The face in the sky looks really cool. Nice job!
@granite carbon Really cool effect for Challenge 6! I think it could be cool to push that sort of spiral effect even further if you’re able. Enough to it reads a bit more like a spiral, while still being easily legible. The colors are a nice effect too. Cool stuff!
@young karma The book cover looks good! The darker photo filter definitely helps the overall look! Really liking that style of text too, adds a lot of interest. It has a really cool feel to it, but I’m not sure if you’re going for a scary vibe. If so, it might help to add a cooling filter on top of that darken layer to make it look more like it’s at night. Might give the feeling of more of a spooky forest. Currently the forest doesn’t really come off as scary to me, just kind of neutral. Really liking the contrast between the graphic elements and the photo!
@edgy idol Challenge 6 looks great! Really love how you handled the graphic shapes and the text against the border. I also really like how the window shape leads directly the text. Very simple and effective design. The cat elements are a great touch too!
@tacit condor The Frankenstein cover for DCC #6 looks great! I really like the text style you did for this one. The text currently has a ton of contrast, and I wonder if maybe brightening up his face a bit, or even darkening down the text slightly might balance the image out. At the same time the way the face acts as a second read is kind of cool, almost makes it a little more creepy. The image just seems a bit bottom heavy at the moment. Maybe it would help to put the authors name up top? Either way I think this turned out nicely!
@vernal lake This is a great image for Challenge #7! The text looks great, works really well for the effect of being written on the wall. The texture really helps sell that too. Is this hand written or did you do this through the text tool somehow? Very nice work!
@forest ivy Very cool Hattie! I like the style you got in the Day 6 challenge! It all works really well together. I like the more muted colors as well, it gives it a more vintage feel. I really like how you handled the perspective of the text in relation to the path way too!
@honest gorge Wow, Day 7 turned out great! Really love the simple clean design behind this one.The effect on the phone looks great and the spatter on the background adds a lot of interest. Great work!
@narrow glade Loving all the color variations. It can be hard to decide, but it’s cool how many moods you can get with just color. I think you just have to imagine which one fits the mood you were going for. I like the effect on the text at the bottom, but I think it might help sell the effect if it’s a little more gradual and affecting more than just 1 or 2 letters. Looking good!
@silver trench The day 7 challenge looks great! Nice job with the underwater color effect. I think it might help sell the effect even more if you darken down the underwater part of the cookies a bit more. Usually things underwater appear a bit darker in this kind of scene like you have going on with the car. Nice work on the cast shadows!
@broken quarry Day 7 is looking great! Really loving that effect, gives the zebra a really cool fantasy sort of look. Really liking that texture. What is the texture from? Really nice job with the masking too, it really adds a nice element that the white stripes are still in tact. Great work with this one!
@vernal lake The Day 6 challenge is looking solid! Really like the red text and how it balances out the red of the curtain on the right. Nice work on the cast shadow on the elephant too. Really nice work!
@young karma Nice work Matt! The fire effect on the car is looking really good! The way you put it together definitely makes it look like the car is engulfed in flames. One suggestion I’d have would be to focus the eye on the center of the car/image a little more by making the bottom area and edges darker. It might help to get the effect of the original flame image with the darker orange/red outside and the more white hot/yellow inside. Nice work!
@austere root Nice work! No, I don’t think there’s too much blank space, I think it’s got a pretty good balance right now. If you wanted to create any more contrast to make it feel like there’s less blank space you could brighten up the red text in the center. Really liking the effect on the bottom text, nicely done!
@unreal crescent Looking good Chris! Yeah, I think you can really start to see the effects of displacement maps with something a little more wrinkled/textured. Though it could even be cool to add some gritty texture to the dirt shapes for a more realistic look if that’s what you’re shooting for. Or if it’s supposed to be blood maybe something darker with a bit more red tint. Either way it might help sell what it is a bit more. Nice work!
@ruby panther Very nice job on the displacement map! It works really well for that image. I think it could help to change the two areas of text to the same color. Right now there’s not any real repeating of the blue so it seems a bit out of place, though if both blocks of text were either blue or orange it might unify the whole design more. Nicely done!
@keen granite Really liking your design for Challenge 6! The blue and black color scheme gives it an interesting mood. I really like what you did with the text and the strong graphic elements of the whole thing work nicely together!
@tacit condor Ooh, really liking the overall aesthetic of you Day 6 mock up! The yellow/purple contrast works really well. The only issue I see is that the title is a bit hard to read against the background. You could choose a thicker font which would probably help, but I think this font works really well for the image. So maybe brighten up text a touch, and even add a bit of a darkening gradient at the bottom that fades away towards the top? Just something to separate the text from the background a bit. Not a ton, but just enough to give it a solid read. Really liking this one!
Day 7. I haven't used displacement maps too much in the past so they're still kinda new to me. Still working on figuring out the best blending mode and blend if adjustments and so on.
Challenge No 6 finally finished. Took me a while to get the text to work how I wanted.
beautiful! i used to love this book when i was little ... @granite carbon
@bleak fossil Thanks for the feedback ❤ I will try your suggestions 😀

Hi, everyone! Because I'm terribly late - I've put 2 in 1: Layer Mask & Compositing.
Day 7 The "displacment" are use on the background and have givent it some more textur to it 😄
Here is my entry for Day7
@bleak fossil Thanks for your Feedback on challenge #6 and #7 🙂 Regarding #7 I used a font from Adobe Fonts called Trailmade and used the displacement filter on it and adjusted the layer as hard light.

😁 thanks a lot @bleak fossil !

@hidden pendant I like the typography you applied to "The Passage" The passage you created with the floating head looks a little flat, maybe fill it with a slight gradient to give it the illusion of some depth?🤘
challenge #7 - Mockup
Add realistic texture to an image or design using Displacement Maps.
Updated version of Day 7 thanks to suggestions from @high wharf and @bleak fossil.
Gave +1 Creative Carma to SamPetersonArt
@glacial path I wasn’t sure how to handle the sky reflection there when I was working on it. It is a part of the original image, and if I extended the mask that is there it would put flowers over it. Should the goal be to get it to be black/dark so it is less distracting?
Amended Challenge 6. Thank you @high wharf I felt something was still missing, but had been looking at it for to long. Gradient added as well as an emboss on the arch.
Gave +1 Creative Carma to Jesse S.
Challenge 7. A mix of a few horror movies me thinks but had fun.
Images used Challenge 7 from Pixabay.
Forgot one uses with Puppet Warp.
@austere root WOW, it looks fantastic now. Love the colors.
Day#7 : The Wolfpine Woods | I wanted to see if displacement worked on something else like a pile of logs.
CHALLENGE 7. Chew on this! hahaha. A little spin on a classic horror story - now available for middle school summer reading. I'm trying to stick with images I took or created as much as possible so I apologize if I'm not nailing the Horror Theme.
Thanks @glacial path @bleak fossil 😊

Challenge #7 originals
#✂challenges-feedback Here is my submission for day 7. I had my kid lie down in the street safely for one picture, then took a different picture of a street I liked better, and merged them. I used the displacement map on the flag provided and added a skull from google and some symbols. I still want to fix up a few things and had to do a lot of experimenting with the displacement map before I was happy. I still have some fixing to do on the mock up.Thoughts and Feedback always welcome.
@keen granite and @high wharf great job on compositing all those together and adding the displacement map!
@high wharf Love the flag. Extra points for going out and creating your own stock image.
I got hyped for the Motion Effect, here is my piece for Day #8
(I need to rework it a bit, i didn't exactly used the pixel rectangle tool, i just understand with the current live how it works ! Thanks Kathleen ^^)
Does this make you think of MOTION? What could I do to add even more dynamic motion to the scene? THANKS!
@glacial path Hahaha! Super cool! Who is the author?
Maybe best 😉
maybe the best. maybe the Möbest
😃
@austere root Thank you. It's fun trying to get your own stock, and usually faster when you have a clear idea of what you want.

@long void Love the look of this! How did you make the wave graphic?
@ruby panther Nice job! You were super quick to learn & apply today's techniques. 🙂
@glacial path daaang! one of my favorites ❤
Day 8
Day #7. Is the text readable as a whole or it's too displaced? Also, are the colors too bright as they are right now? (I know this book isn't about space like my cover may suggest but I went with this idea anyways 😄 )
@sharp lily I think the only thing I am having a hard time with is the placement of "to the" being to the immediate left of "A Journey" ...I think it's only because my eyes naturally gravitate to the "center" text (being a left to right reader) and only then realize I have missed "to the" ...hope that makes sense?
@edgy idol I think I got what you said. I wanted to play with the word "center" placing it in the center of the image. But now I see that "to the" is kind of lost where it is right now.
@edgy idol thanks!

Day 8. What do you think about this fairy in motion? is she too blurred?
Here you have something from me 🙂

I know, the explosion doesn't look anything like a seduction, but, I swear, that the book started with an explosion and contained lots of shooting. The mushroom flame and the bullet holes are from Pixabay, while the burning building and Glock are from AdobeStock. The book mock up is red leather booklet mockup from Adobe. The Text started out as Escoffier Capitaux and was modified as a shape for the title. I'm running behind this week. Two long, busy days at the Art Center.
hello all - here is my day 8! really liked the starter file pic, so did something with that ...
@spiral leaf Thank you. 🤗

@fallow bough I like the middle bluish one best but they are all really cool.
Day 8 challenge
@tropic breach your design for motion is fantastic, but maybe choose a more fitting title, like something to do with dancing 💃 or similar?
@fast moth I love your design, i can feel the motion of the sword, it works perfectly for a title as The Art of War, nice cover ! 👍
Day 8 cover
Beautiful @fast moth 😍
I like the tilted style of the type @hearty wharf It really suits the motion effect of the picture! Great job
oh thank you @coral stone - pixel stretching is fun!

Guys check my book cover 🙂 , I design image in #illustrator, then I put some bakground color and did rainbow things like that 🙂 give some feed back to my portfolio, i like to see from your side also.. 🤘🤘
Day 9
I'm still sticking to the Halloween theme for these challenges so here's my entryfor Day 8 🙂 I'm just unsure about the font and color of the title and the author's name. I also realized I've mistaken the author's name in my design for Day 7 so there will be more edits to it soon 🙂
And here's the book cover design
@deep mango Great job, as always 😄 Now, I do think the font is a bit too round. Perhaps you could find one with sharp corners to reflect the bee's sting. The placement is logical and I think you should keep it 🙂 The white text color also works great against the red background. I would just scale the motion blur so it aligns with the bee
and also pick a higher resolution image for the clouds in the background
I like the color processing on the person in the background and I could imagine a similar treatment for the bee (with a different color perhaps?) 🙂
Ah, those clouds are my stepping stone lol 😄
@prisma raven that might be one of the strangest @ symbols I have ever seen 😄 - apart from that, you design is very clean and so is the color palette. I do think you could try a different color for the black text though 🙂 A dark magenta could work
@tacit crystal Cool rainbow effect 🙂 I also love how reduced the back cover is (I'm always down for some no-nonsense designs). I probably would remove the color overlay here and go with the original color of the pants and skin
@fast moth Yes, so good 😄 ! The concept of this design is really clever and I would only change one thing. The bright part of the stretched pixels should be near the blade IMO to mimic a trail of light coming from the blade 🙂
one more thing, the text in the lower left seems a bit distracting because of the brightness. perhaps you can tone it down or pick a darker and more vibrant color? 👍
the back cover however is badass! Right in the face, kaBOOM! 😄
@safe linden Good job on the displacement map and the title layer effects 🙂 The "and the" could probably be centered between the other two lines and I believe you have missed an itty bitty bit of the sky (right above the "A" in Phillipa". The texture is a nice addition, I would likely tone down the grain just a bit.
I think you could experiment with the color of the hand print and the face on the balloon. A dark red could be more creepy 🙂
@lime meadow Nice work, fani 👏 ! I like how the text is behind the person and the motion blur effect. I wouldn't do this for a regular book title 😉 . By the way, when working with the mockup, I would let some of the cover texture show through. This will look much more realistic and it will automatically add some texture to the otherwise solid color areas 🙂
@glacial path thanks for all your feedback! I’m running really behind these days and not having the time to make the edits and post them...hopefully I can this weekend. Cheers!

Wow! these covers are amazing!
yes! The community submissions never cease to amaze me @sterile bane 😄
Ticket, Naomi J. Novik
Another challenge knocked out today. Now I'm only one challenge behind. Another classic title with a twist. This time the twist is that I don't remember ever reading this, so the cover is based solely on the words in the title. Both images are from Pixabay.com. This two-book mockup (back one deleted) is from AdobeStock. This on made a really neat fabric textured cover, but it was a bear to get right as there was a white line at the bottom that I couldn't get rid of in the layers with a mask, brush or eraser. I finally end up putting a separate layer on top of the stack and cloning the blue base color over the white line. Whoever built this template used techniques I've never seen.
@keen granite WOW! You really nailed it with that displacement map. I love the clean look you have going on.
@ruby panther Interesting use of the effect for Day 8! Kind of a cool way to get a nice radial graphic effect. For some reason the more muted colors and text makes it look like an older book/style which is pretty cool. A couple small suggestions, but it seems like moving the text for the author’s name might help balance the shapes out a bit more. It might also be nice to tone down the saturation of the green in the mock up. Something a bit more neutral to not distract from the book cover.Nice work!
@vivid dew Really solid effect for the Day 8 challenge! The whole thing works really well and makes for a really interesting style of image. Love the masking on the foot too! The saturated blue is a really nice color choice for the warm colors of the skater. Nicely done!
@long void Really cool! I like the stylistic matching of the waves and text on challenge #6! Really liking the minimalistic feel of this design. I wonder if it might help make the image more cohesive if you matched the color of the waves to the bottom tone of the text? It might not fit, but if it did it could be a nice element to tie the designs together. Good job!
@keen granite The displacement map looks great! Very nice. I like the repeated use of red throughout the design as well. Looks good!
@high wharf Very cool Jesse! The displacement map is looking spot on, very nicely done. My only suggestion with the image overall would be that the bloody footprints don't quite look convincingly in perspective. If it was me I'd select each one and do a perspective transform since there's a pretty strong single point perspective going on in the photo. Just something so they're not quite as long and the part closest to us is a bit wider. Really nice work!
@proven heath Nice work! The Misery cover is looking solid. I like how you handled the text for this one. I really like the subtle blood splatter on the floor. It could be cool to make the spatter red as a little focal accent that attracts the eye and also mirrors the red of the text. Looks good!
@gentle sparrow Really nice use of the motion effect for Day 8! Looking good!
@edgy idol Nice work with Challenge #8! I like the graphic element the radial effect creates. Really interesting text effect too! It could be cool to give the background a bit more of a neutral warm color to really make all the cool blues of the graphics and person pop out a bit more. Of course that's more of a personal preference thing. Well done!
@bleak fossil ooo, never thought to do a contrasting color. I will have to try that. Thank you
Gave +1 Creative Carma to SamPetersonArt
@sharp lily I like the concept for the Day 7 design! I definitely see what you're going for. I think it could be a bit more effective if the text was lined up a bit more to lead the eye a bit better. I like how it kind of alternates from side to side a bit, but it might work better if it formed more of a funnel type shape over all. Might also help to lower the opacity of the two inner shapes to match the outer a bit closer. Just some thoughts! Nice work 😄
@tropic breach Very cool! I think the blur seems to be in a weird in-between to me right now. It seems like you should either go with a normal sharp edge, or push the blur effect even further and make it blend in with the figure like Kathleen did with hers. Right now it just seems oddly soft edged. Either way I think could look good. Here's a rough example of pushing it further just using the mixer brush. Nice work with this one!
@bleak fossil are these foot prints a bit more in perspective❓ I did a quick fix. you see, each print is actually part of a mask I put over a huge streak of blood, I disabled the masks so you can see. I painted in each print onto the mask so a fix is a bit tricky unless you have a solution. I tried to perspective warp just the mask, just the the layer with the mask unchained, and the layer with the mask chained. if this still looks off, I will redo from scratch, unless you think this new version included with this post looks a lot better. Thanks for your help 🙂
Gave +1 Creative Carma to SamPetersonArt
@high wharf I think this version may look a bit more natural to me at first glance, without A-B'ing the two. Nice work! Typically what I do is right click on my masks and do "apply" layer mask to basically flatten then shapes, then manipulate them. Of course I always keep a duplicate copy of the layer just in case.
@bleak fossil Yes yes, I didn't even think of just applying the mask to a duplicate layer, I'm tired these days. Thanks for kicking my brain back into to gear lol.

Took me a bit but here's my Challenge #8 Submission! Would very much love some feedback as i aim to Improve 😃
I tried to use a secondary technique with the motion effect. Using blend mode and clipping mask to create a motion "shadow" of sorts with the guy on the right.
@austere root great idea, but in my opinion, the guy on the right is looking a bit too fuzy/out of focus, mainly his mouth and nose. Shapen that up and you got a winner.
@high wharf Yeah, I kept going back on fort whether he should blur into his motion or not. Thanks for the feedback. Luckily it's a smart filter so easy peasy to fix.
Gave +1 Creative Carma to Jesse S.
@austere root also, where the D rests on-top of the T, my OCD is having a panic attack because the flat of the D is not aligned with flat of the T's crossbar.
So many awesome scary themed books on here that I'm ashamed to post something non-scary. However, my wife took this of me while riding and I REALLY wanted to try this challenge with it.
Book cover #3 today. I'm finally caught up! "The Magician" is book 2 of a series by Scott. I hope to find time tomorrow to catch the broadcast. Its been one of those weeks where one task morphs into 10 . . . Both images are from Pixabay, the font is Magic and the book cover template from Kathleen. IF I find time over the weekend, I'll put it on a book mock-up.
Updated version. Man once you notice your text isn't aligned right your eye can't help but continue to go to it. Also sharper guy is sharper. Thanks @high wharf
Gave +1 Creative Carma to Jesse S.
@bleak fossil thanks for the feedback! Actually, I wasn't fully satisfied with that cover so I ditched it and made another one. With this one, I don't know if I leave as it is or if I take the parts outside the paper off. As always, any advice is appreciated!

Day #7
Thank you @bleak fossil

@high wharf thanks for advice. I had hard time findibg appropriate title for designs all week long though I read a lot. Then again this could be a good fairy from The Sleeping Beauty
Gave +1 Creative Carma to Jesse S.
@fallow bough I prefer the first more saturated version and you succeeded in creepy
@forest aspen Catcher in the rye turned out great. I like the author on the ball.
@prisma raven your motion blur turned out great
Which version is better solid or Dissolved?
solid version
@glacial path thx man.. I will try like that also, but this image I made bw 🙂 color behind is come from rainbow style background. But maybe with bw sharp color it can be more visible 🙂
Gave +1 Creative Carma to evil
@fiery kettle I like your design the zig zag looks cool. the only thing i would try is maybe taking away the hard outline outside the body, I find it a little distracting.
You mean the the blue outline leftover from the cut? Yes I agree I should clean that up a little. Thanks!
Challenge 8 completed. Another image I had tucked away for a play on an idea. Supplied by RonaldPlett on Pixabay. Will get back to my T-shirt design idea's one day, already scrapping 1 to complete differently thanks to these challenges.
@tacit crystal Looking good! I like your use of this effect, very interesting style to this design. Nice work!
@topaz harness The Bat design is looking cool! I wonder if the effect might work a little better if the opening in the background was a bit bigger, and blurred a bit more uniformly. Currently the edges of both shapes are almost clashing a little bit. Almost might help to raise the title up just a few notches to separate the shapes a bit more. Looking good!
@fathom moon Very cool! I really love how the circle blur effect interacts with the rest of the shape of the figure and cloth. Nicely done!
@nova swan I prefer the solid version much more. Your letters should be a bit brighter though IMO to pop. ✌
@grave meteor Nice work fitting all these different images together for Day 4! It might help to find an image of a house in day light to make it look like it fits in with the lighting to the rest of the scene. Nice work with the masking too!
@fallow bough Ooh, that's a cool and creepy effect for Pennywise's face. Kind of like he warped over there really quickly. Nice job!
@lime meadow Nice work Fani! liking the colors of this image. It could look good to fade the edges of the blur graphic a little bit to give it a slightly more natural transition. Looks good!
@glad steppe Nice work for the motion effect! The blur effect and transition between the effect and the figure are looking solid!
@hearty wharf Ooh, really like this Day 8 image Tan! The whole image makes me think of some retro sci fi movie or something. The colors along with the radial effect that almost looks like a camera. Even the slanted text makes me think of old Twilight Zone style text, hah. Really love the look of the whole thing. Great job with the masking too!
@forest aspen Really great job with the title text effect, and love what you did with the author's name on the baseball. Looks really convincing, very nicely done. The whole image looks really cohesive and looks like a painting/traditional illustration. Very cool!
@bleak fossil thx man 🙂

@young karma Those are AMAZING. I love everything about The Last Stand cover, great use of typography and the motion effect.
Wow @young karma I love your "The Last Stand" cover. I didn't immediately realize how you had used the motion effect, and then when I realized, my mind was blown!
Thanks @austere root @narrow glade 😀

The Feast of the Snake - Day #9
Thanks again for the week, that was really motivating to make new stuff with a common goal
(Now i just need to fill the gap with past day^^)
1st of Kathleen's challenges, so do you like the red overlay?
I noticed that I might have tried a little harder with the bottoms , thee a little off center. any suggestions for the rest of the layout?
Do you think there is too much negative space?
challenge #3 the background isn't as smooth as I would have liked it, couldn't seem to find the right settings. any sugestions
challenge 4 is the gold color ok or should I have gone for some thing bolder
@sturdy vault I like the negative space. If I would change anything it would be "other ghost stories"
@edgy idol The warmer color really helps the subject come alive. Before it just all seemed too flat.
@sturdy vault Love the tea cup. Composition wise there doesn't seem to be too much negative space. But I do feel most of your text is getting lost. That annoying way black seems to swallow thin fonts.
challenge 9
Help! I have lost the thread here with challenge 7. I have been futzing with this design for a couple of days now, and it continues to look like a design about using a displacement map, rather than a cohesive book cover that happens to use that element. @glacial path and @bleak fossil especially, but for everyone...any advice about how I might punch this up/make it better? It just seems so.....ugh
thanks. pfordie, on the lighthouse what would be a suggestion for better filling the negative space?
Decided wolf's eyes from image used for mouth were creepier that bloating original eyes.
Texture
Super challenges by @sterile bane thank you. Here's my final entry this week, do you think I went a bit too crazy with adding noise? I kind of like the grungy effect, but I suspect it wouldn't look as good printed? Thanks all, have good weekend. 😀

hello all - here is my last one! i really wanted to do one with big fluffy blue bees ...
@prisma raven I like the pattern you applied to the shadows/reflections. Also great job on the text overlap 🙂
@kindred kernel I like the gradient frame you used and also the font that creates sort of a scary mood. My only suggestion is to align the title to the center, right now it's a little bit to the right. Well done! 😉
@hearty wharf beautiful! The subtle pattern on the letters and the frame makes a super cool effect. Did you draw the bees?
ha ha - yes i did (a bit in a hurry) @coral stone thanks for feedback, have a lovely weekend! 😀
Gave +1 Creative Carma to Valdair Leonardo
@young karma cool!!! I think you're right that the grain wouldn't translate well if printed, but as a digital design i think it works just fine
yay! all done and uploaded on behance ... if anyone is around, please have a look, and have a good weekend!! https://www.behance.net/gallery/86889903/Photoshop-Daily-Creative-Challenge-1019

Day 8: I finally got around to butting the cover on a book mockup, this time a simple one from Pixabay. One of these days, I'm going to design my own.
Day 9: Book 3 of the Michael Scott series. Images from Pixabay. It's near the end of the month, and I'm run-in out of downloads from my AdobeStock subscription 😉

Gave +1 Creative Carma to Kathleen
Challenge # 9 I'm not sure if the buildings in the background are too dark. What do you all think?
They come across better here but the worms in the title fade more. Not sure which way is better 🤔
Day 8. Really enjoyed this challenge. I'm learning a lot!
Just finished challenge 6, Do you think the letters are too messy or do they misery written all over them LOL
@keen granite I like the mockup better! Maybe you could mask the title so I doesn't fade?
@humble vessel Hahah! Indeed! Maybe a bit too messy, one has to look twice to read the title 😉
Who needs sleep right? It's 4:30 AM here and I got some coffee going, finalizing my Behance, stay tuned...😂
@keen granite oh my, those worms are just ... aargh! very cool find 😁
@humble vessel they look good, but agree they are bit hard to read on the black and white.

@keen granite Wow!
Here is my entry for Day 8
@young karma Nice work, I like the mock up template. Where have you been getting yours? You have had a nice veriety the past 2 weeks. 🥂
Thanks @high wharf . Yours are awesome too. The mockup came from mockupworld : https://www.mockupworld.co/free/hardcover-book-cover-showcase-mockup/.
Gave +1 Creative Carma to Jesse S.
@coral scarab I prefer the Lastat cover without the blood. The Blood drops looks a little too cartoony, and IMO contradict the seriousness and tone of both the statue and title font. The blood could work if it was more realistic, drippy or smudgy, and around the same shade of red as your title. A drop or two coming from the statues eyes might look cool as well. 🥂
My day 5 - create your own brush, never done hand lettering before, was fun 😀
@young karma thank you for the link.

@high wharf that's what thought, I may try that in the statue. Thank you!
#✂challenges-feedback Here is my Day#9 final submission. I took a picture of a skull my dad had in an aquarium, and jazzed it up using textural overlays and other methods. The photograph of S. King and the press bio is from the official Stephen King website, photo credit goes to Shane Leonard. The small brief summary of the book I wrote up quickly. Feedback and suggestions are always welcomed.
@willow nebula 😆
That's so creative! Great job @high wharf. Also I love Skeleton Crew, one of my favorite short story books from SK
Challenge 9 - Spent so much time for all of these challenges deciding which book to use. My first attempt at making swirls on "magic apples" didn't look good at all, and ended up in the scrap pile. Biggest challenge here was finding a road and a bus with similar perspectives.
Thank you @coral stone It is a great read indeed. Perfect for Linda Cline's Road Trip 😜

#✂challenges-feedback Here is my submission for the Green Mile/brush creation. I used my Adobe Capture to import some doodles I made for my design. I used the application to capture and electric chair as well, which I used as a template to then paint over with some brushes I created. I also used a Picture of some concrete steps I took in the park for the texture I used. I also used brushes to draw the graffiti and Title.
@high wharf - wow - I like it really well!
... another day 4 challenge - compositing
Feedback and suggestions are always welcomed.

Hi @high wharf Thank you! I still have 3 to go...😅

Day 9. Putting it all together. I created my own brush and used the smudge tool to emphasize the blood. First time using original pictures so I have to give credit to Pexel here.
@willow nebula what a great idea! lol s the sharks. I’m wondering if a shadow on the sea floor would sell it a bit more but it’s beautiful!
Love the sharks I mean.
@spiral leaf Thank you! Yes, I was thinking about that too and then forgot it hehe. I’ll add one later!

#✂challenges-feedback Here is my final submission for day 8 - Motion Blur. I kind of rushed through this one, I had a whole scene for the back cover but it needs some work. so for now, I got this. I took a picture of my kids Batman figurine and turned it into this. The motion blur is subtle, and behind batman from a character from the back cover in case you are looking for it LOL. It will get some more love (I have to fix a few things)and then the new and improved version will replace this one in my Behance 🦇
the toy and the painting my wife made which is also subtly in the background.
Great job on your Spider-man! @wet thistle
I really like how you made the bush look like it was a hood to the skeleton! @fathom moon
@high wharf Oh nice, I really appreciate it to see a modification to the book mockup - the new background certainly looks super smooth 🙂 I also love the blue & black 3d font. The overall color scheme is solid, especially the dark purple colors. But I wouldn't blur out the highlight entirely. Perhaps you can bring back some of the background texture in the upper right 🙂
@wet thistle Woah, that's wild 🙌 ! Fantastic work with the blurred shapes - love how there is more than one strand of warped pixels. I would probably add some texture to the background and pick a different shade of red for the stroke around the text. If you like, you could try adding a shadow below the hand and the feet of spiderman 🙂
@spiral leaf well done, Dan 😄 ! You have totally transformed the original image and raised it to the next level. I think you could darken the blood stains though (unless you're going for the glowing blood ^^) The authors name could perhaps be placed in the center of the image instead of off to the side. Overall I like the composition but I wonder why part of the title is at an angle 🤔
@willow nebula Great work Hilde 🙂 ! The subtle triangle shape of the three sharks is a great idea 😄 I think you could improve the design by darkening the sharks slightly. Especially the bottom shark has an almost glowing fin. This would also contribute to the overall mystery around the bermuda triangle topic. 🙂 The title and author typography is solid and right to the point, good job 👍
@willow nebula you know what could be fun? a shadow above the water surface to mimic a ship (or person) 😮
@wet thistle I love the handwritten title ! Instant mood-setter 😄 - good idea with the text around the clock! I just wish the text would reach all the way around 🙂
The texture you have used as an overlay for the text works well with the subtle grit texture on the clock! Perhaps you can also add this kind of grit to the scissors, but as a highlight instead of a shadow 🙂
@glacial path Thanks! No problem to deliver a darker shark, I’ve got a pair of two in my drawer. I decided on the lighter one in the end, but once posted it seems a bit light indeed. II’ll see if I can make a distinguishable shadow on the water surface, a very good idea!
Gave +1 Creative Carma to evil
@vernal lake This is beautiful! I would just go with a simpler title 🙂 - I don't think you need the blue primary color. Just go with a pure white font color and let the colors in the sky do the work 👍
@willow nebula haha nice 😄
@glacial path Thank you Tim, appreciate the feedback...which one are you talking about lol?
Gave +1 Creative Carma to evil
@glacial path thanks, this is the full spread before I fixed a few things up on the solo front cover. still needs some work though. Super Croc! lol, is the texture over the bad guys good or looks cheesy, I was playing around with a few different ways to make them look less like toys. i was going to paint over the obvious joints where it clearly shows they are toys from my floor. Oh, and that's a Nerf Dart Batman is about to weaponize, will superimpose something more lethal in its place.

Hello everyone, here is my revised for Day 4 challenge.
Hello everyone, here is my Day 5 challenge. Any feedback is welcome.
@urban berry it looks nice Cindy, I really like the yellow tone and painted title. My 2 small suggestions would be to 1. Push the Title up a little bit so it rests somewhere between the author's name and the tips of the fingers. 2. Where the roots connect with the hand, there is a brighter red crescent shape, that with out having the original image you provided as a reference, looks like out of place. Maybe eyedrop sample the colour of the roots, that darker red, and paint over that little crescent shape so it looks like the same piece as the roots. 🤔
#✂challenges-feedback Alright, here it is in all it's glory LOL. my Behance project for the past two weeks. I still have some tinkering to do (there is always more tinkering to do right) but, I am very happy to share this with you all. Challenge 1.
Upcoming album (well at least i hope so 😅) of Frank Ocean named DHL! Tell me what do you think! 🙂 Made it really quick soo...
The original photo :))
That looks pretty good, @robust bone! But I'd move the DHL portion down a bit or make it smaller, because it looks like the "H" is coming out of his goatee 😆
@real dew You're totally right! oh my gawd 🤣 Same old Filipa! 🤦♀️
😄
It's all good; that's what peer feedback is great for, lol! This makes me miss college.
@mint sorrel Awesome! This succeeded in making me feel happy and it made me smile instantly. Bravo! 👏
Ahaha Thanks! That's cool, i don't know why, brings me nostalgic vibes! Well done
Thanks!! 😊
@vernal lake Day 8 is looking good! I think this could even be a cool image to fade that radial motion effect, though it’d kind of cool graphic element as it is now, depending what you’re going for. Nice job with this effect, I think adding it to the racket was a good choice!
@honest gorge Very interesting concept for Day 8! I like what you did with the balloons, the blending on the first one works nicely. I also really love the subtle texture effect on the background, it adds a cool element and some depth without being overpowering. Nice work on the mockup as well!
@fast moth I really like this cover for Day 9! I really like the dramatic look of the cover, and the red adds a nice dramatic touch. The back cover and mockup look good too!
@edgy idol Very cool! Nice work on Challenge #6! I like the masking of the text. I could be cool to change the bottom text to the same red color to unify the image a bit more. Could also be cool to push the effect on the moon a bit more. Blood drips or spattering, maybe even a hand print that’d been dragged down, could be a cool effect, hah. Just some thoughts. Really nice work on this one Imitating!
(Also if you’re going with the blood on the mock up I’d maybe make it a touch darker)
@glad steppe Nice work on the Day 9 texture challenge! Very simple symmetrical design, works well. Nice work with the texture!
@fallow bough Very cool and super creepy! Interesting to see how far it came from the original image! It might help to sharpen the edges and apply a little more texture around the jaw and upper lip region where it seems some of that might have been lost from the smudging. It might also help to apply a subtle multiply gradient layer to darken down the bottom and fade off towards the top to focus more of the contrast and attention near the face and upper area. Very cool effects on this Ken, well done!
@plain sable Really love the effect you got for Challenge 8! Changing it up a bit and adding that center design really gives the whole thing a unique look, very nice! I really like the textured background too, it contrasts the sharp design nicely.
@sharp lily Ooh, what a great use of that effect for Day 8. Really love the concept behind this one. The way you left the mirror normal was a great touch. The stark white background really adds a cool feel too. Really liking this one!

@trail field Hmm... if you debut with Photoshop, maybe you should stick with what Jesùs made during his live, and change few option (like color), to make something you like more. You'll be able to learn a lot more like that !
Hi , Here is Day 1.
@severe flame This looks great! The only thing I would change is to remove the ' and the ~ because it makes the date look off-center. Also it seems unnecessary ...?

Also... Maybe you should move a little bit your background pattern to make them match on each side with the same margin ?
And maybe add a bit of margin for the title too, unless it was your choice ?
Band Name: The Careless Whispers - Album: Freckled Thoughts Behind The Carless Whispers. #✂challenges-feedback #psdailychallenge
Then same things as Camilo, i just check your pattern @keen granite , be carefull about the margin to make it even for the final file, unless you made it to be like that
Made updates to my Challenge # 1 based on feedback. Really appreciate it everyone 😀
That purple is heavenly ❤
This is my first Creative Challenge, I think I did alright :)
@willow nebula Nice work! You got some really interesting effects in this Day 8 challenge! I like this simple background color as well, it gives a nice contrast to the heavy texture of the design. Well done!
@plain sable Love the design of the Wine 101 book for Challenge 4! I really like the red/white color scheme and clean look of the front and back cover. My only suggestions would maybe be to make the wine bottle a touch smaller since it seems a little out of scale. It could also help to add a bit of a cast shadow under the wine bottle and to the right of the strawberry to fit the shadows/lighting of the rest of the objects. Might help set them in the scene a bit more. Nice work!
@vivid dew Very cool! Day 9 is looking solid. I’m glad this DCC was motivating! Nice work with the masking of the shape and snake. I like how the snake is a bit darker but I wonder if it could be brightened up just a touch with a levels adjustment for a bit better of a read. I like the subtle title masking too, the whole image has some nice depth that way!
Day 1 v 2
@young karma The cover for Challenge 9 is looking great! I really like the text choice, it seems to compliment the theme of the book and rest of the image nicely. Very cool look to the whole thing!
@fallow bough Nice work on the motion effect Ken! It could even be cool to mirror it and put the skater a little more towards the right with the motion effect going left instead of right since he seems to be facing right already. The left to right read of the whole thing might work a bit more too. Just a thought, nice job with the masking and cast shadows too!
@high wharf Really cool to see how you put everything together for the Green Mile image! I like how you worked the designs to get them to fit together stylistically. Really nice work throughout all these challenges Jesse!
Day 1
@fathom moon Very cool Andreas! I really like the texture you got in butterfly shape. My only thought is that the opening with the lambs and butterfly shape seem to be competing for visual dominance a bit at the moment. It’s hard for my eye to know where to look first. It might help to maybe make the butterfly slightly smaller, maybe slightly darker, or even slightly less saturated or some combination of those. That might help the whole image have a more clear read for where the focal point is. Just a thought. Really nice work, it’s always cool to see how you put these images together!
@vernal lake Nice work on the book cover Tinali! Really liking that multicolored effect in the sky. I feel like lowering the authors name a bit closer to the bottom might balance out the image a bit more, of course that’s really just personal preference. I really like how the tree is such a strong focal point contrast wise in the center. Nice work!
@wet thistle Very cool perspective effect with the hand drawn “Insomnia” letters for the Day 5 challenge! Liking the texture on the author’s name too. Nice work on the graphics for this image!
@willow nebula Day 9 is looking good Hilde! I like how you seem to have color corrected the sharks to fit in with the scene more, it fits well! I have a couple minor suggestions that I think might looks good. One would be to make one of the top shapes a bit smaller so the sharks have a nice 1-2-3 read in terms of size, since the two top ones are currently the same size. It might add a little more depth. Two would be to maybe make the author’s name a bit smaller and move the image down a bit when you do to give the title a little more white buffer room like the author’s name currently has. Just some thoughts, but either way really nice job!
@bleak fossil Thank you Sam! Before I'll post this challenge on Behance I am going to rework every book cover applying your suggestions and those made by @glacial path. It might take a while , but I'll find the time! 🙂

Noticed a problem with saving files with patterns. I was happy with how the pattern was placed in the shape, but when I exported this file at 50% size as a jpg, the pattern has shifted left and up. I don't have this problem if I save at full size.
Is there a way to shift a pattern inside a shape without moving the shape itself?
@granite carbon I think you created the perfect image to demonstrate jpg artifacts in a highly compressed image. JPG works in 8x8 or 16x16 blocks and your background seems to fall into the blocks.
@granite carbon rasterize a copy of your pattern layer, turn off the original, then move the duplicate around inside an unchained mask? Might work.
Is there a mock up template included in the download files? Haven't had a chance to look at that yet. If not, where has everyone been getting there's?
@fallow bough that's interesting. The original image is 2092 x 2092 (not divisible by 8). The pattern was created at 180 pixels (divisible by 8) but then USED at 295% which would make the repeat pattern 531 x 531 pixels (which is also NOT divisible by 8).
@high wharf yes, I thought I would try something like that.
Original Selfie today taken today while teaching Adobe Premiere Pro. The custom patterns were fun and I learned some new short cuts. Does the Band Title work or does anyone have another suggestion?
I think the title, Halloween Mix, needs to be moved somewhere. I liked that it looks like a name badge but Im out of ideas.
Maybe angle it?
Here's an update of yesterdays challenge, I cut out the body of my friend in this images and then added the glow and blended it back into the oil painting
Challenge #1
@spiral leaf Maybe stick Halloween Mix over your mouth so it looks like teeth? Or coming down your shirt like a necktie?
Hi. Here's my cover for the challenge😅
My take of the first album cover. I welcome your feedback.
@young karma I love yours, but I'd recommend not spacing the letters out like that. It's a script font, so they should be connected.
Here's another update without the underglow, I like this version much better!
Does it have to be today or before tomorrow morning
Updated my masking. I had missed the area under her arm.
Day 1.
Hi all, this is my first time participating in the daily challenges. Here's today's piece. Feel free to give me any criticism or feedback.
I was unable to crop this to the 1:1 ratio because I started with the wrong size apparently. How can I fix that?
@austere root I really like how the pattern is a reference to your subject and your subject is also a repeating pattern, it ties it all together nicely. I find the feet crossing over a little odd, perhaps you could mask the back feet using the front feet so it doesn't look like they're stepping on each others feet.
@subtle plume Oooo excellent idea! I didn't think of that. I shall try that tomorrow.
@subtle plume I like your background but maybe you could darken or do a blend mode on your text it's hard to see the M on Mood.
@tacit condor cool cover
@nova swan Thanks! You're right, it doesn't read as well as it could.
Gave +1 Creative Carma to Patti McCoven
@nova swan you can expand your canvas using the crop tool, but if the image you've used is already at full size you'll probably have to crop in and move your text upwards. The design still works as a poster, though.
@spiral leaf Did you paint your pattern image instead of using a shape?
@jaunty knot That's a cool design. The canvas texure looks a bit like noise, it might look nicer if it wasn't quite so intense.
@granite carbon JPG images are divided into 8x8 blocks starting at the top left. (I am not sure exactly how the left over bits are handled though.) I was thinking that the area of your image that had problems were a block being shifted somehow.
Day 1: Album cover. Model from AdobeStock
day 1. i was having trouble with creating my pattern. it didnt just include the shapes i created the pattern with but the gray background as part of the pattern instead of transparent and I couldn't seem to get it to change. anyone know how to change that (im sure its something simple 😅 )
@tiny wasp Make sure you are creating your pattern on a new blank layer and turn off any layers below your pattern, then you can go to edit - define pattern. Now you should have a pattern with a transparent background.
@nova swan I have a variety of things going on there as I dabbled with the blending options. I do have some original shapes mixed in as well. I didn’t like them as a stand-alone.
Rasterized the pattern layer so I could adjust it, and so it wouldn't move when I saved it. Added a texture over the pattern. And a few other tweaks.

My album cover I used AR Destine and inverted the color of the image
#✂challenges-feedback Day 1 -Patterns. For my submission, I invented a super awesome Metal band, and made up a bunch of fitting song titles. I made a huge logo outside out of twigs and used it for my design. I used a Mermaid who lives in my backyard as a model, though she was a bit fussy. I doodled up a bunch of things to use in my design by using my Adobe Capture to bring them into my library., and used one of these doodles for my pattern overlay. LOL ©JesseSicinski2019
back
I didn't have a CD template, so I got creative and modified the book one from last week as a temporary fix.
My source images
@high wharf What an awesome album name! Those doodles are great, too, and the use of Adobe Capture to create your custom font logo is really clever.
@subtle plume Thanks a lot. My neighbors think I'm crazy, I spent a good amount of time fixing up that logo and then was unhappy with the concrete etc, and finally slipped some white paper underneath and had to re-place all the sticks. The logo is actually the raw photo, I tried ro use my Adobe Capture for it, but was not happy with the result, it looked too polished and cgi.

@trail forge Hey ! I really like your cover, but it's really hard to read the text on the shirts, maybe you should choose a brighter color ?
The same color as the forehead should do the trick
Allester good morning please clarify what you are waffling about. @vivid dew
@trail field About your composition, it was far away from what Jesùs show during his live, but if it was your intention i'm sorry.
I didn't said that to be mean, but i was wondering if you were new with Photoshop, and then i said you should stick with what Jesùs made to learn few trick for your next piece.
I hope i didn't offend you.

Feedback and suggestions are always welcomed.

Good tutorial. I haven't used Photoshop in many years. This is a big help for learning new tools and practicing design ideas. It took me awhile to figure out some issues I was having but am happy with the results.
Great cover @fathom moon
There is only one thing, maybe you should change a bit the angle of the girl eye mask, so it match with both eyes ?
Still Learning lol
@jovial skiff That's a really cool background. I think it might look better if the walking people were walking away from the subject on the right side of the image too, so it matches the lightning bolts at the top.
thanks for getting back to me not offend taken @vivid dew

Open to suggestions!
@warm hawk That is a really cool, striking design. It feels like the main circle and the text is just a few pixels to the right of centre, but otherwise, it's a well balanced, simple design.
@subtle plume Thank you 🙂 .. And yes , you spotted it right, will correct it
@fathom moon Maybe it's just me, but that has a very late 70's/early 80's vibe, and I really like it! Just an idea, but what if you inverted the masking for the green on the face so that the green is only a bar across her eyes? There may be too little colour but it might be worth a try.
@spiral leaf Thank you 😜

Version 2. Got rid of the "stepping on feet" issue plus cleaned up a lot of masking issues I missed (don't art while sick, kids). Thanks for the suggestion @subtle plume it improved the look immensely.

@rare solar the only suggestion I would give is maybe a different solid color at the top instead of the white. It's bit jarring. Maybe something in the orange tone like the face.
Thanks @austere root ! Will look into the solid colour😁

Any feedback please 😊
this challenge really sparked my dj side, and how i would love my records to be labeled/designed. incorporating each part of the lesson just remixed. the track is called "patterns" and it is the 001 release on the Daily Challenge Label. while the record itself is marked with something you cant mistake yet would still have to hunt down when trainspotting. the reverse side of the sleeve would replace the artist image with track names and remixes + producers and all copyright info. first time making my own seamless pattern and really got lost for awhile in the endless color combos that came from changing blending modes, like really for a few hours...totally opened up a whole new tech style i am gonna run with........
@formal sage nice. love the coloring and the offset pattern. I need to get in on the mock-up game 🙂

@night sapphire Nicely done! I like the subtle transformations within the glass shards - not too much but still noticeable 🙂 - You should totally play around with other images to see how they would look. They should be pretty easy to replace when you're using a smart object 👍
@young karma better late than never, as the kids say 😉 - fantastic use of the purple shadows in combination with the midnight green (as apple would call it) background 🙂 . The title font and placement is on point. Perhaps you can integrate the authors/artists name into the design. Again, great works 👍
@mint sorrel oh wow! I love the grit and grain of the photo if you zoom all the way in! Beautiful contrast! Some of the lines feel a bit soft though and I don't think they should be 🙂 Use the harsh lines to your advantage and really go with crisp edges 😄
perhaps you can also add a very subtle drop shadow below the shards to add a perspective clue to the pieces
or a light reflection
@serene fog ha nice and spooky 😄 I think you could crop the whole file a bit and go for a more vertical format (or perhaps square one).
This is my CHALLENGE 2: Glass Effect
@forest aspen lol the reflection of that guy reminds me a bit of Howard Pinsky 😅 . I love the idea of using two photos and combining them into one composition! I wouldn't transform the face too much though. This shard here should probably have his chin visible instead of the nose and eyes 🙂
@spare spindle Woah, looks epic! I think you could perhaps pick a different gradient for the first one. You could sample the color of the red band or use a contrasting color. Just keep the outer color somewhat similar to the inner one and you should be golden 🙂
@frank granite I love the background, it instantly adds more energy to the whole image - same thing for the darkened edges on the left and right 👍 . Is that a stock image of are you using the Photoshop flame filter (a filter I highly recommend playing around with) 🙂
@long void great job as always 😄 - the green color of the leaves produce a lovely contrast with the red clothing and the red lips! I think this shard right here is a bit too dark, perhaps you can bring up the exposure a bit 🙂
and just a tiny detail, I would crop this part right here 🙂
looks like the glass texture doesn't quite reach the edge of the composition
My day 2 entry. I decided to use a selfie photo from a previous challenge as the base and create a movie poster using the glass images provided for the challenge.
@young karma Oh my God Matt, That is amazing.
@young karma Agreed. Effing amaxing.
Day 2 - Maybe I shouldn't have cleaned those windows
please give comments on what you think of this for a first try
Hi, Everyone! I'm getting a late start. Therefore, the album cover is my completed Day 1 Challenge. Feedback is very much welcomed. I'm learning a lot! 😄
@young karma The subtle shading of your album covers certainly does evoke the sense of deep emotions and a lot of thinking and/or meditating. The soft purple over his face and neck softly enhance your design. I truly like the outline of the hands--like they are reaching up to grasp understanding or comfort or pleas for help. Your font use is appropriate to the theme. Well done.
Not thrilled with it but it's done. Need to work with the method more later.
Challenge #1 Album Cover #✂challenges-feedback
My first challenge - Glass #✂challenges-feedback
After some time away, I came back to the album cover and started to make a few adjustments but ended up doing a bit of redesigning while I was at it. Hopefully I'll catch up on the glass challenge shortly!
@warm hawk Oh man, you nailed this first challenge! Really striking silhouette of the whole thing against the white background. Definitely gives me a album cover vibe. Great job compositing all these elements together. I really like the pop of red. Could even be cool to repeat the red in the album title down below. Great work!
@rare solar Very nice work with the Day 1 challenge! I really like the bold font you used, it has a nice fit with the image. I also really like the orange tones of the skin and how they pop out from the rest of the cool colors of this image. The white at the top seems like such a stark contrast due to the black background, but I wonder if fading the black into the white with some receding black bars/lines could be a cool effect and also soften the contrast a bit to keep it on the face and title. Just a thought. Well done!
@unreal crescent Hah, nice work Chris! I like the intense color contrast. It could be cool to have the yellow and the orange to be the same color (whoever one you prefer) to unify the design a bit through repeated use of color. I think a blue and orange color scheme would be a very strong one. It might also help to separate the blue of the person from the blue of the background just a touch either through saturation and/or hue. Maybe shifting it slightly towards a blue-green? Just a thought, as this might help separate him from the background a bit more. Nice work on the background pattern!
@shadow cradle Nice work Mel! I like the interesting colors on this one. Right now the whole palette is fairly low contrast so the white at the top is demanding a lot of attention. It could be cool to balance this out by making the text white so the white element is repeated and balanced a bit. Either way this is looking good!
@hexed peak Very cool Tom! I like the way you unified the image through the color scheme of the text and logos. The lines around the figure are a nice touch too. All that contrasts nicely with the textured background. Looks good!
A little behind schedule, and very beginner but had fun working with this!
@austere root Very nice Skunkie! I really like how you lined up the feet of the figure, it makes for a cool visual effect and gives it some nice depth with the overlapping. I also really like the diagonal pattern in the background and how it sort of mirrors the diagonal direction of the girl. Gives the whole image some nice sense of movement/action. The only thing I notice is the image feels a bit crowded as a whole, and the Passion Pit text adds to this by creating a tangent with the feet of the girl. Maybe that text could be a bit smaller, or even masked under the foot to create a bit of depth and get rid of the tangent. At the same time I think it could appear less visually heavy/crowded if the pattern in the background has a little less opacity. Of course it really depends on the look you’re going for as this is more just personal preference. Just some thoughts. Really nice work on this!
@formal sage Very cool! Glad you had fun with this challenge. I like the concept of this image! Really nice work with the mockup and adding the pattern on the record too. I really like the sort of muted colors of this design, has a cool feel to it.
@trim topaz It’s always great to see how much the source images change for these challenges! Really nice work, really liking the background color and subtle texture. The only issue I see is that the 1958 gets a but confusing to read due to the negative space within his arm. Maybe if the 1958 text was a slightly brighter version of that color it could still keep the same style you currently have going while reading a bit better at a glance? Nicely done!
@high wharf You drew the pills? Nice work, they have a good sense of dimension to them. I was thinking it might help to make the red text on the back of the album a different color. It’s a little bit visually intense right now, but I was thinking if you made them a sort of semi-dark blue it might be a nice repeated element of that blueish tone from the bottom of the front side and offer a nice subtle temperature contrast to all the red, while being a bit easier to read. I think making the bottom text on the front cover white as well might help unify the design a bit too. Having too many font styles and colors can sometimes make a design feel a bit disjointed. Just some thoughts, nice work Jesse!
@long void Nice work Bachmors! I like the sort of retro feel of this Day 1 cover design and colors. I think it might help to give the two images a little more visual hierarchy by maybe making the image on the right a bit smaller, and even lightening it up a bit to lessen the contrast. That might make the image on the left a stronger focal point while giving the image a stronger 1-2-3 read. I also notice there’s a bit of a tangent with the letter D and the shoulder of the figure on the right. It may help give the image a bit more depth if the text either overlapped that image slightly, or even if the D was slightly masked behind it. Looks good!
@jovial moss Looking good! I like the orange-purple contrast and the unifying white design of the text and background pattern. Nice work!
@blazing quail Hah, very nice. I feel like the colors compliment the retro text nicely! My only suggestion would be that I think you could do a levels adjustment for the girl on the cover to brighten her up a bit to match the style and feel of the rest of the image. Nice work 😄
@vivid dew Very nice! Really liking the style of this Day 2 image overall. Love the mood and simple colors of this image along with the sort of grainy/blurry image in the mirror. The placement of the glass break works really nicely to balance out the composition of the image too!
@magic rampart Looks great! I really like the idea of a cd mockup for this one. Nice work on the background pattern. I wonder if a subtle drop shadow or something could help the text read a bit better against the high contrast of the background without changing the look or style of it all too much. Just a thought. Good job!
@young karma The “serious” cover design is looking good! I like the multiple exposure effect, and it still keeps a strong focal point of the brightest one in the center. Kind of makes me think of an 80s album for some reason, hah. Nice work!
@night maple Very nice style and feel to the Day 1 challenge! I really like the masking of the bubble breaking the frame of the background. Gives it a nice element of interest. Color scheme works really well too for that dream-like feel!
@edgy idol Really liking that size variation you got for the first image of the Day 2 challenge! It really gives it a trippy feel and plays with size/focus in an interesting way. Really nice effect on both images!
@young karma Wow, this is awesome! Really interesting take on this challenge. Love what you did with the silhouette made of glass. The colors are great too, very well done!
@fallow bough Nice work Ken! The size variation between the glass an original image make for a really cool effect. Nice job with this technique.
@inner ice Day 2 challenge is looking solid!I really like the stronger displacement/size variation of the second image! It gives the effect a bit more of an impact I think. Looking good!

Hello
I completed the first challenge of photoshop. Although, this is mostly from the video. I will start innovating on my designs in the upcoming challenges.
Open to Feedback!
@young karma That's a great image to work with. You should go bolder with the glass though, really make those shards huge to match the size of the birds for more dramatic effect. 👍
@high wharf That's true i'll try to upgrade it
@inner elk Your design for "All they do is talk) is super nice but the letter spacing is a bit smooshed and tight, "Do is" almost looks like one word.
@whole basalt Cool concept with the red and blue. It would look popping if you reversed the colours of the letters so that the letters in the red zone are blue, and the letters in the blue zone are red.
Hey @austere root is the guy in your poster flying out of a window? If so, it would look great to have a trail of shards flying and spreading from the window following the motion path the guy is travelling on which I'm assuming is from the outside of the left side of the image.👍
@tidal zenith for your first try it looks fantastic, with @lethal mural guiding you, how can you go wrong 😉
Completed the first challenge (Album Cover) yesterday. Stuck closely to following the tutorial, so it's not majorly creative but at least it's finished!

Decided to use glass effect as my new avatar
Challenge #2 Water effect
Challenge #3: Water Effect ...realized after I started that I don't yet know how to add the effect of mass rain splatters on large water body surfaces. 🤷🏼 Maybe one day when I learn how to do that I will revisit this assignment.
Day 3 PS DCC.
Hello, I did not return on time, but this is my first participation in the challenge. Thank you for your comments. 😀
Day 3!
Day 3
this is a sunset with water coming up from the see
Day #3 : Waver Wave
I still need to work the edge with some shadow, but it's hard to found the good balance
Edit : Also some shadow to make the water more realistic around the girl, but it's still Work in Progress ^^
@young karma Awesome album man!
A little catch up, here's my Day 2 entry 🙂
PS DCC #2 Glass Effect (had to replace image)
Mixture of splash file provided and great water brushes I found online (www.brushes.obsidiandawn.com)
I hope you like it
DAy 3 challenge
Challenge #3....I think still in process...I feel the background is a little bit empty, what do you all think?
@wet thistle has the potential to be something epic. Maybe add some sort of energy or sound waves flying away from the bird? And a soft texture in the back at like 10% opacity?
Thank you @high wharf I will see if I can do that. Never did something with sound waves before
Gave +1 Creative Carma to Jesse S.
@wet thistle 👏🏼 this is amazing!
