You will experience an error stating - "The service is not responding. Please check your internet and try again." when trying to use the generate capability.

i have a question. dont really know where to ask this but its for the beta of PS and the generative fill. for some reason, it makes any generated image so bright that i cant even tell what its making. for example: the prompt given was "green nebula with stars". its as if it took the image and then made it 2000000x brighter, OR it makes like a random grey background. what should i do about this? i did make a general report on it but, is there anything on my end that i could do?

The lack of a powerful GPU is what precludes most users from generating images locally. There are also technical issues related to the installation/maintenance of various Python libraries but mostly its the GPU issue.

The issue at the time, was that it made the image as white, and as bright as can be. Nothing recognizable. I can try the “no earth”, but if it continues to make the image unrecognizable, then it isn’t a prompt thing. It might be on their end

I've already submitted this to the beta forum as well as the main ps forum. Has anyone had an issue with the latest updates causing custom shortcuts to stop working? I had one set to open my color picker and as of three or four beta updates ago, it stopped working there and then today's update in the public ps app, that bug has now been published and removed my custom shortcut function there, too.

The shortcut is still showing that it's assigned to the color picker in my shortcut panel which is why it's so confusing that it stopped working. I've tried everything I can think of to fix it and custom shortcuts period just don't work at all.

Who is using the Substance 3D Viewer beta app already? We should get some conversation going on that subject, because it's Photoshop users and designers generally who are the reason Viewer exists in the first place. It will be lost to the design community and become just another 3D tool if we don't pitch in with comments, suggestions, and use cases.

Hey, welcome to the club! 😉 The thing is, Viewer is intended as a tool for designers. It's not targeted at the CGI/VFX crowd, but if the only input the team gets is from them (see above!), the whole development effort will be thrown off track. I had a long conversation with JM yesterday on this subject, and she totally gets it, but there are more players involved. The dev team (according to one insider I talked to at MAX) thought the effort of developing the Photoshop plugin -- the one thing above all others that makes Viewer useful for designers -- would be a waste of time. We're trying to change a mindset, and it's an uphill battle already. I just want to get some more voices into the conversation.

I hope you're all doing well! I wanted to ask if you've had the chance to watch the recent meeting with Joel Baer, the Director of Product Management for the desktop version of Photoshop. During this meeting, Joel announced some exciting news – Photoshop will soon be enhanced with a modernization action tool. This new tool will be supported by powerful language models (LLMs) and AI agents, which will undoubtedly bring many benefits and make working on projects easier. The number of default actions has been dramatically increased from only 13 to over a thousand. This provides a much wider range of pre-built functionalities for users to explore.

Now, the moment you open an image, Actions can swiftly analyze it, taking into account factors such as colour balance, dominant colours, the presence of distractions or a sky, and whether the image is a landscape or portrait.

Generative Upscale: I have mixed feelings about this one so far. It has a strong tendency to turn photographs into illustrations, so that the organic nature of, say, a face, becomes a little too much like it was painted. Sometimes this is okay, but in other cases I've been able to get a better result by switching the Blend mode of the generated layer to Lighten. This softens the hard "painted" look of the generated layer and gives a more natural look. That said, an obvious use case for Gen Upscale is with Firefly images from external models like Gemini 2.5 Flash that return a reduced-resolution result. Depending on the user's need, the plastic look of Gen Upscale could be just the thing, or it could be awful. It does not handle aliasing well, and this is a situation where Super Zoom alone, or with some JPEG artifact removal, does a much better job.

In general, I have not seen good, usable results for 3x or 4x so far, only 2x.

Remove Tool: It's better, sure, although it will still introduce occasional bits of bric-a-brac. When it struggles, I switch to GenFill with the prompt "Remove" and get better results. There is no doubt that it is quite magical most of the time!

The Gen AI Model Picker will become useful when it provides access to the models available in Firefly. At the moment, Model 3 is usually okay but Model 1 is of no interest, so the picker doesn't see much action.

In my workflows I have no useful application for Projects in Photoshop, so that's not useful. However Firefly history is very handy for when I'm working on mocking a new cross-product creative challenge!

I've just had this answered by Adobe, and they say that the new gemini models shouldn't be available in the drop down menu and should only be accessible through Firefly itself. So that's asked and answered, but not a geo-license issue at least.

So the example tutorial is in someway wrong .. for me.. in the UK. But I can still access the models to check them out on firefly. Probably something they'll fix in the UI in a day or two.

Partner models been available in Firefly for a long while. So, yes, you can use them in Firefly. However, Ps Beta was supposed to include Google Gemini and Flux with this latest update (today).

Nothing to do with AI stuff but the new beta is wildly unstable for us (at least on macOS). Crashes constantly. Not doing anything. Zooming into an image...crash. Create a curve and open up the gamma...crash..
Unusable. Hopefully devs have seen this but previous beta version was way more stable

Experiment with Nano banana 2.5, here I will turn the person so hi look into the camera, I selected the hole image, left image is original, nano banana did a very good work even the shadows is correctly and look at the details of the T-shirt and jeans, this photo is from the beginning of the 70-th, scanned from a negative with an Plustek scanner.

No, it's when I do a select all and say change a costume or clothes, the aspect ratio of the face shifts slightly. I think it's because nano banana defaults to a square, it always seems to tug things. It's just a little but it's very noticeable on faces. It's a known issue/aspect of the model, because it works to a square ratio, but I was wondering if there were controls within photoshop?

I try to avoid odd sizes and aspect ratios, opting for canvas dimensions that can be easily divisible by 2.

It's quite noticeable if you do a lot of iterative changes using NB. You can make a model's face quite chubby accidentally.

Anyone know if you can include some sort of perspective retention prompt possibly. "Maintain aspect ratio specified" or something. Or is this something to just go try and report back on? 🙂

One more example on how good Nano Banana is did a promt on Swedish " ÄterstÀll fÀrg till naturlig fÀrgshema för Santa Maria in Trastevere Italien" ( restore color to natural color scheme for Santa Maria in Trastevere Italy) Original to the right is a scanned image from a negative. I try the same prompt in Firefly, the result a total different image. This is very difficulty or even possible to do manually with color adjustments in photoshop and get same result in less of 30 sek.

I see the messages from a couple of days ago about Gemini and Generative Fill. Has anyone figured out optimal techniques to use this yet? It's almost really promising, but right now as far as I can tell you CANNOT consistently select an area to edit and have the results seamlessly blend with the rest of the image, which defeats the purpose.

I think making sure you selection is square is a help, but not a guarantee that things will work.

if you isolate the subject from the rest of the picture it will work with a prompt like this | the person wink with one eye| as long as what you want to change is within the selection. I did this with a sitting bear with closed mouth and I want the bear to scream instead so I could ad a speak bubble with a text. look at my posting in Shawn's latest challenge if you are member at his server.

Having Nano Banana Pro in Photoshop is pretty amazing. Hopefully they can figure out how to fix blending it with selections so you can inpaint. Until then it's more a fun curiosity than a game changer.

Here's a before & after video of small section from an image I retouched with a combination of AI-enhanced tools, including the new AI Denoise. Cameo appearances by the new Firefly Fill and Expand, Nano Banana, and the Remove tool. The original is a disaster. Astonishing how much recovery is possible now in a short time.

Have you look at the fix solution the program give you, but sometime that happen in beta has hapen me to I only restarted the program and that fixed it, sometime it can depend there you have your scratch disks, it is recommend to not use program disc like C: partion on a PC and instead use a tifferent partion on you disk like D: or you can use, if you have have, a fast extern disk sometime this will help.
