The Butterfly Pea flower a.k.a Blue Pea flower, from which the blue color in the drink comes, is native to Southeast Asia. The colour extraction from Butterfly Pea flower is prepared through brewing, then strained. I've tried this drink before in Singapore at a restaurant (the pic with the tall glass) as well as the pudding at a small local cafe in Indonesia! At first sight, I thought they were just eye-catching and would just taste mid, but to my surprise, it tasted exquisite and enchanting. Honestly, I thought it looked so cool like a elixir potion or something similar to that lol.
Anyways, below is the explanation on how each one tastes! :]
Blue Pea Chia Cooler
- Blue Pea Chia Cooler is a cold, refreshing drink made from blue pea (butterfly pea) flowers and chia seeds. A touch of sweet lemonade went perfectly with this drink along with the hint of a blue pea floral taste!
Butterfly Chia Pudding
- Butterfly Chia Pudding is a creamy, chilled dessert made with chia seeds, yoghurt and butterfly pea (blue pea) flower extract. The butterfly pea gives it a natural blue or purple colour, in addition to the strawberry extract which gives that vibrant reddish colour. While the chia seeds create a soft, pudding-like texture when soaked in liquid!
