I really believe adopting a pvp system similar to Ultima online would fit perfectly into the game with how cities are set up and having a few major cities, adopting a faction system for example: 1st faction: Ardholm 2nd faction: silverlake? 3rd faction: erdvine.
each faction would be joinable and once in you can play normally like join guilds etc. your leystone then could teleport you to your factions city instead of just any, or maybe get a faction specific leystone so we could have two?

each faction would have a reputation that each player contributes to so that means if you go out as ardholmiens(lol) and slaugter a bunch of erdvininites(nice) you would get negative rep and could potentially become at war, which results in all out pvp anywhere. You as a faction could repair this reputation by maybe having a faction chest that they could donate supplies like crafting etc to and said chest could also be robbed.

I think its a very nice system and could bring in really interesting gameplay, or maybe its not the right fit let who knows

also this means when player housing is out, if you are a dif faction and we are at war maaaaybe I can steal ur stuff >.> Ultima online had a similar traditional banking system to our lovely game but you could also have secondary storage like locking things down in your home like trophies or a personal chest with oh 400k gold in it 🙈

This was discussed so many times. This is an open pvp game - with full loot in wildlands. Why restrict that or add penatly to someone that wants to pvp anyone/everyone? Factions in this game (as is) would not make sense. I hope it is never added.

As is: Edrivine is the city you get to after starter island. It has follow-up quests and gets you moving into the dailies, etc.
Also, anyone attacking new players /lowbe is just griefing, and that will happen with/without such a system. Factions, etc will not change that.
Actually, we have people doing it now and game is not even launched yet... OH, you can report individuals that are griefing.

I do not fully disagree I just think some system like that in a game like this would be pretty sick and in a perfect world there would be incentive for a faction to go after people doing said things as a way to "clean up the streets" if you will.

We have guilds. Guilds should protect/avenge their members. If the guild doesn't - find a new one? lol ;p
I am a big fan of solo/guild based pvp action.
Factions are too unruly and disorganized for the most part. That system always ends up one [faction, etc] dominating the others with little chance of change. People just join the biggest and leech.
Guilds, on the other hand, gain and lose people all the time. The fluctuation of guild membership (for whatever reason) gives new life to pvp more often than not.

Also, a fan of arenas/BGs.

A faction system would be cool, but I think it should not have an influence in pvp, factions should be a residential and trade influenced thing only. Leveling your reputation within the faction would require participation in pvp events but your team could be composed of different factions. Trade routes would give more though, and then you localize different types of resources and the processing of them to that factions area, making trade neccessary. You then add in a player market system that is localized to that town, and make transporting the resources rely on hauling them by hand to deliver them to the market manager. You've now created a risk reward market economy that will naturally fill the factions with like crafters encouraging inter player cooperation in multiple ways.

I understand that pvp isn't the focus. It's as simple as this. it's been two years now. If Ryan believed that open world pvp was going to kill development he would've found a way to turn it off

#

As far as I'm aware from my conversations with him, he wants pvp, in what form, not sure yet.

I've personally advocated for world pvp to be gotten rid of multiple times during dev funnily enough

growing the playerbase =/= killing development.

Your first argument was that it thins population, which would lead to a negative aspect in terms of development. I'm asserting that if he thought it would've done that by now. It wouldn't be an option.

As for believing I'm Davey, I've seen some takes in this discord, but this is certainly one of them

also you can develop a game without growing the playerbase, that's actually how most of game dev works, except the game isnt usually playable during that time.

Are you able to link me to where Ry has said he doesnt want the open world pvp?

It was Chisme that said they don't know what direction they want for pvp, but it might not even include world pvp.

So they dont know and it might not means its not the direction?
