Crab Isle

  • Old Tom SUCKS (Reevaluate what you actually want to teach here and make it translate better to the game; The 10-ft pole is a tutorial item and not representative of real gameplay and crafts)
    • First crab should guarantee pants and then have a chance to drop more
    • Allow skipping crab island at character creation and possibly even Solitary Isles (Start character at level 10?)

Solitary Isles

  • Since Old Tom isn't up to the task, Dorian should be your mentor (He gives you a magical device to communicate; he gives tips and direction such as when quests auto start such as Scorching Plains)
    • Change Dorian to be short and sweet with his words and grow fonder in dialogue as you complete SI quests (Big Brother type? Romance NPCs when?) [He becomes your SI checklist]
    • With his magical device you can turn-in and pickup certain quests (that don't involve items respectively)
  • Sternbrand should teach you about your hotbar before he knocks you down to 1 hp (all while being drunk via dialogue)[give immunity here]
    • 2h sword or pants!? Change to magical weapon(s) and/or hat (choice of medium/light?) [Atleast change pants to something else]
    • Give him more quests to do with "brewing" alcohol and make him a dye vendor
    • More quests (daily attic spider kill quest?; Take care of his Wild Chicken problem)
    • Even more (Asks you to investigate the shadow manifestation problem ((Town tasked him, but he is too drunk))
    • Sternbrand lore: exile mage that starts a quest chain about shadow manifestation, corruption and leyline breaches appearing

  • Farwood (rename to Farmwood)
    • Remove or repurpose houses intended for housing (Add construction NPC there eventually as an introduction; Mayor NPC/player house that dictates changes in Farmwood via quests)
    • The bank should look like a bank!
    • Allow players to sit on chairs/benches around fountain (make area larger; have Mayor NPC path here sometimes to make a speech)
    • Create tutorial for woodworking?
    • Librarian added here or Irumesa to explain RESEARCH! and Monster Dex (Scribe that fled from the fires/looters) [Add completetionist rewards]
    • Have an NPC (possibly Dorian via magical device) tell you to check out the leyline mage (Newbs do not even know tailoring bench/NPC exists)
    • Woodcutting tutorial reward fixed or changed to regular copper woodcutting axe
    • Vineyard EXISTS (Add quests here possibly involving Sternbrand)
  • Drop down, climb up, Patrick teleport and loadscreen immunity until movement (like log-in if out-of-combat)
  • Patrick needs a mascot/pet (maybe player obtainable)
  • Bandit at far end of Farmwood challenges you to prove youself (he is level 10 and if he wins will drop you to 1 hp)
  • More quests in Scorching Plains (Orks/lesser elementals/shadow manifestations, silver/gold/ethyrite/platinum)
  • After proving yourself to the Chief, in Outskirts, the warriors become neutral enemies
    • Chief gives you more quests involving spiders, goblins and brewing Dragon Leaf Tea
  • After falling into the well via 2nd item grab, then create a quest chain, via Dorian's device, to allude to the dark sigil in Old Mine (hinting at secret in well and dungeon)
    • Farmwood alchemist daily to kill/collect lessers around well
    • Depending on progress with Dorian, he will tell you about gold necklace before (or upon arrival) traveling to the Eye of Ethersalos
  • Unused farm with cows -- NPC created with cooking quests (teaches importance of full buff)
  • Top of mountain gets a zipline down to Patrick's Shack

  • The guy on bridge who lost his lunch to rats asks you to help him daily with assortment of odd things rats stole from him (eventually quest chains with the Cheese quest ((his parents?)))
    • For example as you progress from Farmwood to Scorching Plains, Scorching to Library, Library to Outskirts, Outskirts to Eye, Dorian will inform you via device about these quests (assuming you are not completing them, allow them to stack for the hilarity)

  • No cap on combat skills? (Level 1 with level 50 heavy/medium/light armor is possible)
  • Experience (instead of having MH as some crutch (that doesn't work anyways), have combat skills gain more exp if noticeably falling behind)
  • Guild (so many fake/dead members in my guild; No MoTD or any offline/longevity communication in-game)
  • Bank (Not account wide or a shared tab; No guild bank)
  • Crafting bars (No auto-forge option like fibers/leather; Vice-versa no manual craft for fibers/leather like bars)
  • My bags are so big (1st world problems) that I cannot see the bottom and then it glitches when I scroll down
  • Auto sort (better options; make available for bags)
  • Whispers are a NIGHTMARE (Chat sucks in general; Right click someone and the context window will go off the screen depending on location of chatbox)
  • Trade certs (and maybe others like jewels/items) being server sided instead of client)
  • NPCs pay you too much money for your shit useless mass produced items
  • Money dropping from sources other than humanoid types [too much money]
  • Need/Greed/Pass allow auto-select last option if you don't click by the end of time
  • Auto-loot (give to solos optionally)

  • Skinning/researching in a party needs to be faster (allow multiple people to contribute to speed or something)
  • Controls (allow 2 keybinds per control; allow remapping to everything if possible)
  • Mages suck early game; Melee is king
  • MH should give context on where you might find monsters they ask you to hunt
  • Making white paste gives 0 exp (but black is 48 exp; thats some r*****)
  • Black horse, but no white horse (now im just memeing)
  • Have to physically dismount to cast abilities when mounted, allow auto dismount on attack
  • Class imbalance (such as less abilities or having passives instead of actives)
  • Bank should have a take all but 1 option
  • Teach newbs about A LOT of things like Ctrl+Alt to target bodies
  • Make trading faster (like depositing to a bank) instead of manually dragging

from a Ranger perspective and I'm sure casters are the same.

When you are mid cast on an ability and the mob you are fighting dies it does not cancel the ability and puts it on cooldown. Sometimes puts you in a tough spot specially as a HC player. The ability should just auto cancel and no cooldown applied or give the player the ability to cancel the ability themselves

i wish there were more dopamine hits throughout the average session. Right now if i don't hit a rare drop usually the sessions are pretty nondescript. Here's some rough examples:

  • When mining, if you mine a jewel, give extra exp
  • When gathering herbs, you can get a bundle that gives 10 herbs and the exp of 10 herbs
  • Location specific drops

All of these are intended to be small, maybe once every 10m to 1 hour depending on the rarity. Something to break up the monotony and be excited about.

As a Ranger I've noticed that when you finish killing a mob with your pet out and click to target or tab target a nearby mob, it immediately attacks/targets it. I am not sure if this is intended or not but as a HC it can be pretty sketchy and a miss click could cause your life in some cases.

So I had an idea that I discussed with Ryan but wanted yall's feedback. They would be called "Inspirations." Essentially buffs you get from activities that encourage you to keep doing the activity. It would be a chance on executing something that it would happen. For example:

  1. Killing mobs: You get the inspiration "Thrill of the Hunt" which gives you 25% damage for 1 minute. Happens like 1/50 or 1/100 kills.
  2. Gathering: You gain "Nimble Fingers" which increases your gathering speed by 50% for 1 minute. Happens off any gathering
  3. Inquisitive Mind: On Researching, maybe gaining double research values for 30 seconds (happens 1/50 researches)

Basically, things that, in the grand scheme of things, don't impact your efficiency that much, but make you say, "Ok, that's kinda fun, let me push a little longer"
