There was a mod for this before, but if I remember correctly it was not done using JSON editing (our current limitations). Camera settings are also not currently part of the supported Json list, so it would be something you would have to do the old way of manually overriding files if it was possible.
It's definitely a mod I think will happen eventually, just not quite yet

Hey I'm also very interested in a mod to extend the cameras maneuverability range/zoom, and was wandering if the extra modding 1.5 update made this possible at all.
(didn't see anything camera related in the patch but just asking anyways)

you can change some setting in the camera json file, its limited but you can extend the zoom and adjust the tilt but not much else
file is called GameplayCameraSettings.json in the settings folder steam>steamapps>common>goingmedieval>goingmedieval_data>streamingassets>settings
