from what ive noticed whenever an ammo box inside my backpack is touching another object inside the backpack i cant put ammo in it without having to pull out the entire box, makes looting stray ammo extremely tedious. also doesnt happen every single time just most of the time

Not really. This has been working in all releases since beta for me (except maybe 1.0.5 because I haven't tried yet).

unfortunately, it's related to how they optimise ammo boxes by disabling them when not necessary (probably when you put away your bag). They can be disabled even if nothing is on top of them, and vice-versa. From what I've tested so far, the ammo boxes/creates work more consistently when put on an item slot or large box holder at least

even on item slots and large box holders the second they start clipping into each other it becomes extremely inconsistent, makes me have to space out the item slots which ends up wasting a lot of my space on the backpack id rather use on other things than a few ammo boxes

the way I do it is shove all the full boxes at the back and have the active box towards the front, but inline with each other if that makes sense
