Just figured i'd make a positive post since....somebody should.

Ignoring the glitched dandelion anomalies you guys have absolutely knocked it out of the park with outskirts in 1.0. It's deadly, it's so immersive, it's stressful, it's just perfect.

The changes you guys did to the mimic ai and audio behaviors work so good in this area. You're in the apartment, you don't hear mimics inside talking but you hear shuffling all around you. You expect one to be around every corner and the sound and atmosphere and dark, the cube sounds, the deeply unsettling night sounds have you so on edge that even when you finally find a mimic it still surprises you.

Then you hear more shuffling, are things coming in from outside? Sometimes you're quietly looting and you have to stop because you're not sure if the footsteps you're hearing are yours or a mimic quietly creeping up on you which happens frequently how they will go from apartment to apartment barely making a sound.

Just yesterday i turned around and raised my gun at some footsteps the moment a silent mimic turned the corner to enter the apartment i was in after me. I shot at it and it immediately ran away, i turn the corner where it ran and it was already gone, where? who knows but now i can hear more of them coming up the steps from outside and an absolutely epic firefight ensued. It all works so perfectly with the audio, the realistic shadows and lighting. You're just THERE all alone in this horrible place.

Congrats on just the most perfect nerve shredding, immersive isolation horror I've ever played. 👏

The progression change is also notable. The outskirts is WAY deadlier now. B efore once i got base armor and a rifle i could go anywhere in outskirts. I was surprised to see me having to go back on my last two outtings with unfinished missions because the increased enemy count and smarter more versatilie mimic ai really stretched my stims and ammo out thin.

They have grown on me a bit. Now that the game doesn't chug quite so badly there. In the past I've hated it, and i still think it's probably some of the weakest level design in the game at present due to the repetitiveness, but playing with item loss on all upon death and refusing to save scum, i think the tenseness catches up to the dull monotony I used to experience in them

I brought an akm with the lvpo scope, and even at 1x i found it abysmal at close range cos of the tunnel vision lol but it made it even more tense and i found myself feeling actively anxious after putting the headset away lol

it's a shame in my as experience there wasn't really a point in clearing apartments in my 2nd (ironman) playthrough as i cleared most stuff in my initial playthrough, and clearing apartments in the dark was my favourite aspect of the game. aside from finding a sr-25 in like 8 cleared buildings, the loot just wasn't worth it and it was a lot of rounds expended for something that'll be repopulated in due time. i find it interesting to see that ppl would continue doing missions with SL5 ||as both times i went straight to final area and i had thought those groza nvg dudes were exclusive to that area ||

where have they said they might do a new map and new enemies and missions? I seem to recall them doing a pretty big "maybe" with 4 player co op and the lab and a shooting range but also cautioning people to not get their hopes up too much.

I don't recall them even hinting they're interested in doing anything beyond that.

I can read. You don't need to tell me what you said. I asked where did they say it. Because the last time i saw them say anything about it it appeared to all be pretty up in the air. The closest thing to a certainty appeared to be 4 player co op.

that said i can't believe anybody cares about getting more suprefluous stuff liek a shooting range or the lab when we got so little content in the base game. Just can all that shit and make some more actual game/stuff to shoot.

like i'd have preferred they not spend a moment on any of the gun customization and shop and gear stuff and give us more entities and locations

It makes the game feel more of a tac shooter since the guns are just so insanely advanced compared to the rest of the game

realistically as a pessimist my biggest hope now is that they have a good grasp on those systems and have them sorta premade that in itr3 it will free up a lot of time to give us more stuff on the plate.
