i hate him bro he doesent fit the themes at all im playing a post apocolyptic game where a small town in russia has been devistated by a large mysterious growth that brought alien artifacts and stuff. the old version was so dreary and liminal! It was so creepy and ominous, but now theres a fuckass white guy who sounds like he is tryna go surfing with me. If this stays the whole genre would fall right off

The white guy should be an old russian grandpa who has been stuck here for years and is really unpredictable and unreliable. he should have a heavy russian accent but not in the video game way. have him actually be a russian voice actor. the girl should also be russian. THIS GAME IS SO GOOD PLEASE I BEG REMOVE THE WHITE PEOPLE

Russians are Caucasians or 'white people'. Maybe there is a story element that the developers don't want us to know about yet? Let the story unfold. I love a good plot twist. Although a russian grandpa would be a fantastic idea. A emotional counter to Eva, a gritty personality to Eva's bubbly character. Katya was bubbly too although in a sad way
Ever been in a war with Russians? that is some of the guys act even in horrible situation the only thing missing is vodka.
but you might prefer those guys who are old and gloomy. remember the story said they were buddies with the player. as a young guy who got accustomed in the radius. He fits the bill.
and for the girl. she sounds like an Idi*t she needs to be a little more serious. but by the way she portray herself she might fit the bill of insane supervisor for research purposes. and the radius in long term will make you insane.
if they are able to build a massive base it means they are there in the long time. you wont get scared forever. you will eventually get accustomed to the environment.

Someone suggested just making him a statue, so if you want to hear what he has to say you can, but you dont have to hear Well, Well!! Every time you go to a different location.

genuinely seems like they just needed to pay the VA a fair wage and he needed to record a plethora of voice lines or smthn cause these are all filler
the fact that the entire playtest with practically no dialogue at all played the game for the most part with no oversight or intervention because the playerbase is competent and it's really disappointing that instead of branching into a range of work they haven't really invested in, only previous work with Katya and the occasional story off an ash-statue, they played it incredibly safe with overbearing dialogue.

It's surprising, CMI is my favorite game studio, they made such a masterpiece of a first game
Then the second game was a little different but that didn't stop me from buying it first day

i just replayed 1.0, itr1 all the way through and the whole time i was thinking, "whoever made this version, was working so clearly on one vision" and it was my fav story vers of the game
Its fascinating because i feel like mechanically the game advanced incredibly quick from the beta versions of ITR to the 1.0 release
and then itr2 seemed somewhat similar
but only really did when it dropped, and when they dropped gun parts
1.0 is so good
The last mission is a little weird
They have the resources to try it again

The big map, the large structures, the mechanics
The vision as a whole was great
i just love the artistic direction of 1.0, it reminded me a lot of an actual wasteland. Me being completely alone, in water up to my neck, traversing a land i had no clue what i was doing in was absurd for the time
I used a terrible windows mr headset that barely ran back then, it crashed all the time, i ran the game off a 1050 ti and i had more fun then with the story then i did in itr2 just because it's clearly so diluted in its goal and vision
It'll be so interesting to see the open world map from 1.0 in itr2. Whether the devs add it or whether the modders add it
Yeah they burned themselves out on the features before they could implement the most important part
I think it may also be a case of too many chefs on one dish, I think the game feels diluted because some people really wanted a story with a consistent character, and it didn't fit the vibe because other people constructed it differently for mechanics and atmosphere

I don't think they should delay to any timeframe, I hope they recognize the lashback as nothing more than the playerbase respecting what has been the storyline and atmosphere of ITR as a rough vision, and I hope they pull back on certain aspects like the hand-holding enviornment for unfortunate quest kiddos
That's why the beauty of the game is that WE are the creative director of the game
They're going to listen, we just don't know how much they'll comply
It's really inconvenient and really selfish, but I really hope they scrap the current VA and dialogue. It's unbearable, its not even the volume the quality of it is terrible to. I wouldn't be surprised if AI was used to streamline the writing process

Yes, not only that but 1.0 is going to be BIG. Itr is bigger than ever, new eyes are fragile, we can't risk that
Even looking past the story, the game is buggy, and VERY unfinished, there is nothing polished about the game, because instead of just focusing on bettering the stuff they already have, they just add more on top of that to bury more and more problems
ITR 2 1.0 release has the chance to be like a really cool main title VR game, as the VR market is so so so dry rn and having a regular title to but in circulation would be huge for the playerbase. The early access kept a lot of people out, but with it releasing a lot of people that were skeptical are gonna buy it. I really would be disappointed if they try to ret-con the original atmosphere for a more METRO style atmosphere where there are "characters" who are humurous in the apocolypse.
Honestly insane considering darius himself has told me over and over that the devs will "Fix these bugs in 1.0" which is hilarious to say considering they're adding an entire STORYLINE like that obviously will introduce MORE bugs
Also the fact that 3-4 player co-op isn't even in the scope of the game now
3 of my friends bought the game to be able to play it together, we all thugged it out on the 2 player seperate playthrus for the sake of yeah totally its an early access game. But now it's years later and their empty promises become more and more unattainable
I see them trying, they always do, but if they keep adding they'll never be able to catch up to themselves

ITR1 is one of my favorite games ever
It made me feel things that almost no other game could make me feel
The fact that darius himself admitted that there is no processor on earth that can run the game currently in co-op at 120hz is fucking hilarious
ITR2 has the potential to pass it, but it never will if they keep adding more material without polishing the stuff we already have
The game is unoptimized, buggy, unfinished, and now dropping a horrendous storyline with PBS kid VA's that plague and dilute anything resembling the original story. I've given ITR2 years, and I respect all the work its made. Mechanically I think the game is astronomically adept.
I love ITR as a whole, I have nothing but respect for the amazing titles they've made

I really wish we got a map that was more open, I feel like this game focused so hard on the density of models that it never really took the oppurtunity to have maps that were meant to be wide open. Reminiscing of the factory map in 1.0
