#Some co-op bugs (client side)

Played in DirectX11 mode on Q3 through Virtual Desktop. All these are on the client/second player side.

  • The magazine release animations don't play for the second player. Fortunately, it's still possible to interact with the magazine like usual.
  • After transitioning area, there's a chance of guns (presumably ones using magazines, since this seems to be an old bug that hasn't been fixed. I've only seen it happen to the makarov in this beta so far, so I'll test more with my friends afterward) being broken - It cannot be cycled by the client (racking the slide doesn't work), but will be fixed after the host racks the slide.
  • Also after area transition (and some other possible conditions. It's been fairly random), I cannot eat anything (bringing the food to the head/mouth doesn't work). Fixed by dying, reloading the save, or exiting then joining again.
  • The game crashed in the in-between when I tried to sit down after the host died.
  • Not sure if it's intentional, but I can't see the compass on the host's hand

Can confirm some of these.

  • There is the audio cue for releasing/retaining the magazine, but does not show said magazine partially inserted as it should. Client-side only.
  • I did not notice issues with the guns upon transitioning. Host did at one time have to rack his gun despite having a round in the chamber to fire.
  • Client eating does seem to break partially. Food client brings in and must open cannot be eaten by the client (tested with chocolate bar). The host can feed it to the client, and I found food and ready to eat food (individual crackers) seems to be fine (I found a beef chunk in a fridge and could eat it just fine).

Some others I also noticed:

  • There are new soldier ashen-statues in the maps. Client can see them, but the host cannot (this is an odd first of its kind).
  • Some jank regarding moving enemies (a bit more errectic than normal, sometimes fragments sink briefly into the floor). This is a familiar client-side bug present before 0.14.
  • Some smaller animations and partical effects are truncated or omitted for the client. Again, this is an existing issue and probably related to minor desync.
  • Due to the artifact detector not being "standard" equipment anymore, you are only given one between you and your co-op partner (unsure if this is intentional or a minor oversight).
  • Textures on certain objects seem oddly low-res. The wood and metal textures on boxes and barrels specifically. Like the texture mipmapping is applying the wrong size.

another one i noticed
As the client, the new helmets in the shop did not have their NVDs attached

  • For the food bug, I've only tested with crackers so far, so we'll need to play a bit more to figure out more, but when it happened, the host couldn't feed me, either.
  • Can confirm the janky mimic movement. When I tried to stab one of them, he slid (instead of running) around with zero acceleration too quickly to catch up. Fragments sometimes sinking into the ground has been a thing from way before.

To add to the list, I have never, as the client, been able to eat the chocolate bar. I can take off the wrapper but not eat it

#

oh and not sure its intentional, but it seems to client can not put down mission items.

Also the client can’t see the bells light up in two keys one door

Something I've noticed and want to make an addendum to. The soldier ashen statues. I think there is still desync on between host and client, but I've come to realize the statues are a replacement for the weapon crates as they seem to have weapons in various states of functionality.

Adding to this: client still gets consistently crashed when host uses a spray can to clean weapons

  • Another client-side bug they haven't fixed is that items attached to the rig have their height reset after reloads or area transitions. Fixable by briefly removing the rig then putting it back on, but gets annoying when you forget, and you grab the wrong item because of the shift
  • Similar, but for item slots on backpacks, except it's every time you pull it out. Fixable by placing the bag into the air, then grab the handle again.

Also weird bug with the floating house near the camping site. couldn't see the log to get up there as either the client or in single player, but it seems my friend can, as the host

#

the log is still there, just invisible

He also ate my chocolate bar

#

So it wasn’t the bar that was the issue

#

I wonder how most of these bugs even happen

Doors don't open in the facility for the second player but do open for the host. Experienced it at very Late Game

I'm curious whether it's the exact same problem or something else with the same behaviour

does your bag (as the client) drop when you release it? Does the game also crash if you shoot your weapon?

it looked like the bug was fixed in 0.14, but I guess they were developing the current game structure on a different branch since before that, so the most recent merge for the beta 1.0 build brought back the bug
