#Co-op Performance Issues in b1.0.0

Similar to all previous builds, the performance of the game significantly tanks when a player joins in co-op in the recent beta 1.0.0 build.

I also recognise that this may be a known issue thats been acknowledged in previous updates, but I notice that it hasn't been acknowledged in the beta 1.0.0 patch notes so I'd like to bring it up just in case, since it's a critical feature of the game that should be fixed before the release of 1.0.0

Steps to Reproduce:

  1. Host a game and note the performance when moving around and interacting with guns and items. For my case its buttery smooth at my target 90FPS
  2. Have a friend join. As soon as the player model loads in, the framerate drops and stutter occurences increase. Don't have specific numbers but I might have talked about this in a previous post that I made for the same thing

VR Setup:

I'm using a Quest 2 via Steam Link as host. Friend is using a Quest 3 with steam link.

that's my previous report

#

i'll acknowledge a reply in that older report that says "its just how the game works", however I would like to argue that it shouldn't be the case and it significantly degrades the experience when trying to use a core feature that a lot of people are looking forward to using

i hope that was a typing error what do you mean a R5 3600 with a 5070ti that cpu is way too weak for that beast of a graphics card

nope thats my actual build because there's no way in hell that im upgrading to a platform that needs DDR5 rn

#

i used to have a 3070, and then got sick of my games (mainly just cyberpunk and ITR2) throttling because I didn't have enough VRAM

#

so I upgraded to the 5070ti, and didn't feel it was worth upgrading my cpu to like an r7 5700x or something

to be fair if you play at higher pixels the gpu gets challeged more than the cpu so it kind of evens out the higher you play

I have the same gpu and ram spec, and even with a 5800x3d my cpu spikes before my gpu in itr2, just my two cents

yeah its definitely an optimisation issue, because if multiplayer was just that bad to run we wouldn't have any multiplayer games ever

#

im not sure why though because the thing that theoretically should happen the most is for the co-op players position to be updated regularly (which as far as i can tell, is definitely not every frame)

#

i kinda suspect its something to do with unoptimized models and geometry of the other player, as my game only starts lagging as soon as the player model gets its rig loaded in (there's usually a few seconds between the player model loading in, and then all of the players inventory)

i noticed this on an earlier beta though and haven't been able to test for this beta specifically since im no longer hosting

Granted in most situations, your CPU should spike first unless your possibly OCing

i got no idea how a bottleneck calc would even work realistically but i can tell you its not the problem, because the game runs fine in singleplayer and i have no issues with any other multiplayer game

Multiplayer has numerous performance issues that aren't a thing at all in solo

trust me if prices for ddr5 memory wasn't 4x what it was a couple of years ago I'd upgrade my platform

uh no, itr2 doesnt have dlss built in

but we've established that its multiplayer logic that's the issue so that's not really relevant

Though I will say, at 4k that isn't helping the bottleneck much 😂
