#Advancement system (or perks)

An idea i had to keep the game feeling fresh and exciting is for additional rewards for completing either regular missions or top priority to earn points for a skill tree esque mechanic

Let's say you complete a top priority mission and you earn an AP (advancement point), and you feel like you run out of sprint too fast, you can apply an AP to stamina, so you can sprint a little bit longer before needing to take a break.

Or health points, you can upgrade your health so you can tank more hits before needing to duck and heal.

Or what if you want sharper aim without taking more than a few seconds to get your sights dead on while taking fire, bullet tracking (or whatever you'd wanna call it) adds a very slight, very subtle magnetic like effect to where if your aim is close but not close enough to hit, your bullet will shoot towards the target instead of straight forward.

And what about that factor of having shaky arms or just can't aim that far without swaying about? Stability (from ITR1) is a one-time upgrade you can get to gain the option to hold or click a button when you're aiming down a scope to eliminate sway.

These are just a few ideas i had while playing.

Eh. I like how it is currently. I don't really want skill trees in a game like this

I think artifacts will have a system like this. Like in stalker where having an artifact equiped boost some stats and lowers others

Agreed. Basically, this game's progression is your gear, your knowledge and skill, and further you go, the better explorer you are. RPG-style skill system wont make you better at understanding The Radius and it's "life", just make you a better loot/kill machine

And the way it works rn, it gives you more roleplay experience, that you will have in RPG's

about the last point:

That’s already in the game, press A/Y while aiming

doesn't work when held or long-pressed

#

I know it does because I've done it

Compared to the previous game, Mimics and other enemies have become smarter and stronger. In contrast, the only real buff to the player seems to be the ability to jump. It would be more fun if there were some new ways to enhance the player character as well.

Player is already pretty opPecho_LOL

i feel like the playerbase is split in two halves on the games difficulty, half the people think its ez pz and the other half struggle

#

kinda interesting to see the duality

Because its been a while since we've really heard anything about the lab, apart from it not being in 1.0. Has me thinking they might be cooking something bigger

tbh a vr cover shooter does sound fun

I might just be speaking from experience with quest but the new update made it more difficult

#

Because it lags an awful lot, throwing off a lot when focus is required

#

The random frame drops and rises at semi rapid intervals kinda made me think "yeah if i were more powerful this'll be fair"

I'm sure its very different for pcvr

Itr1 was very easy for me, and even for a time 2 was, but the way the game kinda jitters now on quest made it a bit unfair in some areas

#

I mean don't get me wrong i love a good challenge, but this is a bit much, and I'd like to see progression too

#

But that’s not how the game is supposed to be

#

They’re not going to change the game because of an unintended “feature” kinda

river heron
#

The idea is to expand a bit beyond the game currently

#

Not to just make it easier

ripe ingot
#

The idea of this thread works, it’ll make the game easier, more fun and just a more varied and not stale game

#

But it’s a fun over fit thing again

river heron
#

The examples i made were a few helpful ones, but I'm trying to think of ones that amplify the game a bit more rather than just help the player

#

Games when they become too easy start to stop being fun

ripe ingot
#

Yes exactly

#

That’s why balancing is a hard task

river heron
#

One idea i had was something similar to fallout new vegas's wild wasteland perk

Certain events at random spots at random times, whether scripted or something spawning in

peak wagon
#

enemy AI is simply too spastic and reactive for it to be fun

river heron
#

Could be a whole boss like encounter with a tougher enemy ai, or something for a hidden objective

#

A cool idea is unique weapons through this perk, something you can't buy, not overpowered but a cool collectable that's functional

ripe ingot
#

That’s for those

river heron
#

Huh

#

Like a more refined version

ripe ingot
#

Anomalous weapon parts and stuff

river heron
#

Oh, okay, nice

#

That's something to look for to

ripe ingot
#

1.0 is coming soon as well

#

For pc

#

We’ll see what they add

buoyant bobcat
#

More gadgets than just probes and the anomaly detector would be cool, like a sensor of some kind that can help you spot the invisible enemies

#

Or a grenade that temporarily stops the spiky things and the bells

ripe ingot
#

Man more people say this every day

Tried it all mate

timber dew

Huh

#

I swear it’s there tho

river heron
#

Every button, and it didn't work, not even a hud saying it was an option the first time either

#

Ik it's only for two handed weapons so i tried it with one

timber dew
#

I’ll check it when I’m home

timber dew

It does exist

Words from the devs: you actually have to aim down sight

I'm definitely in the "doesn't need to be easier" camp so no perks.

I'm on difficult ironman and loving it 😄

Played ITR1 through 3 times. Difficult, normal ironman and difficult ironman. By the 3rd play through I didn't die much.

Added the Stalker mod on difficult ironman, but only played a little as I did that after I got ITR2, which is still soaking up time 😄

Well, gotta remember not everyone's built like a spartan mate
