#Toggled Virtual Gunstock With Offhand Trigger

I've got the virtual gunstock disabled in my game currently, because I find it very constraining in my range of motion. Effectively, I can't point up or down at sharp angles if it is enabled.
At the same time, there are situations, especially when I have to shoot longdistance, where a virtual gunstock would be very welcome to cut down on jitter.

Since it's no longer being used to toggle weapon flashlights/lasers like in ItR 1 (these attachments now being manipulated separately), we're no longer using the offhand trigger for anything.

What if we allow the player to toggle the virtual gunstock on/off using the offhand trigger when holding the rifle with both hands? As if to allow players to selectively shoulder their rifle or not?

On second thought it might be better to enable a temporary virtual gunstock while holding the offhand trigger, so rather than having to keep track of the gunstock state, the player would consciously expend effort to "shoulder" the weapon.

The existing stability -hold breath is not enough for you?

The only problem with this I just thought of due to a conversation in gen 1: if they ever add underbarrel weapons then this won't be an option.

Pump action shotgun would also have some weirdness (im still holding out for one)

Virtual Stock in ITR1 was amazing. In ITR2 it wants to anchor to a weird point. A lot of the time the anchor point wants to pull the optic out of my desired eyeline so I just have it turned off unfortunately.

I've personally never had any Vstock issues in itr2 since they removed the weird weapon weight system way back

#

perhaps it depends on player height settings? I know in itr1 the virtual stock misbehaved when the player was in seated mode

The issue I have with having the virtual stock enabled is that there's a maximum on how high/low I can aim basically

#

That and just stuff like aiming around corners, because it snaps the stock of the rifle to my shoulder

have you tried using a gun with a foldable gunstock?

#

I usually have the stock folded to the side, and when i need some support for long range, I just unfold it. Works nicely thumbsupcat

I think I have a fixed stock right now? Either way, being able to just selectively shoulder the rifle or not would allow quick transitions mid-firefight.

#

Like if I'm taking shots at someone in the distance and I notice one snuck up on my side I need to make snap decisions

but the offhand trigger is still used when turning off lasers and stuff, it'd just mess everything up. I'd rather this be something you enable in the settings rather than always on, it'd just be annoying for someone who doesn't need the virtual stock because I have steady hands
