Vdxr had no resolution slider and steamvr resolution is set to auto by default, are you sure you're comparing apples to apples?
yes ive turned off auto and they are the same res
Steamvr set to 100%?
yes
Nvidia latest drivers?
i looked at the performece overlay and the game is running good and everything
yes
Perfect
Roll back
I always use vdxr and I've never had any stutter that steamVR didn't have
I don't think I've ever seen any bug reports stating this tbh
wacky
maybe reinstall VD
if it aint updated do that
could also just be the hevc/av1 issues nvidia has, ive been using h264 on my usual bitrate and dont get jitter
because i havent had a single issue with VDXR
Man well I'll try reinstalling later
Hey! Anyone here still having issue with launching the game using VD?
@chilly grotto
never had any issues after 0.14, whatever was going on with FFR+VDXR was fixed thankfully
Let me try right now
Still cannot launch with VDXR, SteamVR works fine
oh sorry yes
- Open CMD as Administrator
- Open "C:\Program Files\Virtual Desktop Streamer\OpenXR" (cd C:\Program Files\Virtual Desktop Streamer\OpenXR)
- Run "Capture-ETL.bat (just type Capture-ETL.bat)
- Launch the game and get this crash
- Once it happens, press a key in the command prompt window to stop the capture
- VDXR.etl file should be generated in that folder. Send it to me in DM
I get this when I try to run the .bat file
You need to open the folder in cmd
cd C:\Program Files\Virtual Desktop Streamer\OpenXR
Type it
Great! Thanks!
If someone having same issue (launching ITR using VDXR causes crashes), do the steps above ^

Steam vr, pc powered rift
Is ue4ss even updated to work with the beta?
@tardy heron sorry for the ping but should we try vdxr again with beta 3? I should have some time later to see if the issue persists
Yeah Ive tried VD and I've tried (wired) Link... it's a trade of of both. With Cabled, you get no stutter, but lower res, with VD everything looks better, but get stutters... So I go with VD as I dont like being wired to the PC... I always thought it was my router (sitting likr 5 feet away from my play space).
You shouldn't get any major stutters when using VD
Open performance menu in VD settings and check which value goes high when the game stutters
We are working close with VD dev. Seems like the issue is not on his side, so we are still investigating what could cause the crash. However, you can try to launch ITR using VDXR just as usual - maybe we accidentally fixed something 😄
Yeah it runs fine for a while, then encoding/network jump up and FPS drops to 50s [target 72fps](every so often) Im on 3080 running 556 drivers (as reccomended by VD) other times it's spacewarp that kicks in and drops fps... im at most high settings other than shadows at medium (VD connected to a BE550 on wifi6 an arms length away while playing) Get about 45MS latency most of the time, but sometimes jumps to 60-80s...
did not see this earlier but I am still crashing with VD+VDXR. I can send a new VDXR.etl file if that would help.
I've noticed in the past the game doesn't seem to like running wireless with VDXR. Stutters I see are frequent moments where the screen blacks out.
However:
There is a tool on the VD discord that lets you use VD over the link cable. Very nice if you want the absolute lowest latency and hate the meta link software.
When i use that tool + ITR2, the black screen stutter is still present, but significantly less frequent.
My wild-ass guess is maybe ITR2 doesnt respond well to sudden introductions of network latency and somehow blacks out the screen rather than redraw a frame more than once or twice? Dunno, just spitballing. But using the tool for VD over usb cable does mitigate the problem on my end.
itr2 is prob just very sensitive to incorrect framepacing
i havent had a single issue with VD on ITR2 at all
could also be your encoder not being able to keep up alongside the heavy gpu load of the game itself
maybe try different codecs or lower bitrates
Hello everyone. I'm writing about problems with VDXR, it crashes both in the regular version and in the beta version (in beta, at least it gets to loading shaders, but still then the game closes without an error). I tried completely reinstalling the game with saves and disabling cloud saves, nothing helped.
And does it make sense to somehow try to play through VDXR, is there a difference in performance with SteamVR?
I saw that I was not the first with such a problem, and he also had an AMD graphics card.
steamvr has quite a performance hit, and now since VDXR (should) work under all settings there isnt a reason to not use it
have you tried messing with VD settings?
and make sure nvidia isnt doing some weird things to it
I tried turning these settings off and on, changing the codec in the VD itself, but to no avail.
I have it turned off by default.
I do not know what else to do(
No, do you think it will help?
I've had this problem for a long time, I've reinstalled it more than once.
I really want to play through VDXR, just this performance is not enough for a comfortable game. :(
This may be due to the fact that I did not install the recommended drivers for VD?
probably not
what drivers are you on?
