Might be fun if certain anomalies or enemies messed with your nvgs.
Could also be seeing stuff in nvgs that you normally wouldn't and vice versa.
if done properly it could be a monocle that eliminates your depth perception like a real one, and have collision so you're out bonking your weapon against it trying to aim
If artifacts still had a 'use' function like the first game, it would be easy enough to bring back in the 'Night Eye' from the first, but I agree with the idea.

but night eye kinda ass because you lose your hand slot, woulda been better if it had a toggle function like Press "use" to toggle it, and as long as its on your inventory (that pocket slot) keeps your night vision on. Wonder if there''s some mod that does that for the first game 👀
I would say ones should be able to mess with it, like the conduit or the slider when they come out would be a fun concept, but also that sniper and scout mimics should be able to see them on you
Screw it, can we just make the slider slenderman at that point, lol. I know somone is gonna mod that
yes you loose a hand, but it also becomes an in-set balance. do you see MUCH further than your flashlight and use a pistol/smg, or do you keep both hands on your rifle and stick with your head lamp. It also had the advantage of not presenting a tracable light, where as NVGs rely on MINISCULE amounts of light to amplify and create images, even just low level IR gives some image in a pitch black room. If the balance is done right there's no reason both can't be done, even before adding hard counters. Hell I'd say at that point make thermals the high end solution. Monicle/artifact, bi-lense, quad/thermals, three tiers right there.
On that, mayhaps end game you could get a pouch that would allow you to keep it active, like an equipment slot
So early game its a trade off, late game you can have it on and have both hands free

I Dont own the second game yet but I'm doin the 1.0 beta rn I think I grabbd a night eye recently wonder how different it is from the main branch or not 🤔
sure, but then you need a different trade off having access to multiple grades of vision. Just like the first having it's durability tick down works to begin with, but I'd say the hands-free device ticks the durability faster. Once again you have access to diferent vision grades, and at that point your ability to recoup the artifact should balance it well enough.
later on the downside of getting a night vision artifact is... you didnt get a regen one instead 😢
