Yes please

The only anomaly that I actively like the look of is the hedgehog. All the others are just too much—doesn’t feel like ITR

I’d honestly prefer turning the current electric anomaly invisible and only having it be visible through a glow and audio

I honestly much prefer the more polished looks of the current anomalies. Reflectors in ITR1 in particular felt less like a spooky, incomprehensible horror, and more like an unfinished asset from a unity game

I like the old ones, just really not the old reflector lol

Me personally I think the old reflectors looked great

#

they gave off that unerving/unnatural feel

I prefer the anomalies in itr2. It's cool that they are altered items that have effects that mirror their real life counterparts.
Like the reflectors being speakers and therfor make a sound + the Soundwave repelling you. The electric stove top coil cube having this massive amount of electricity stored. Hedgehogs made out of nearby material that is sharp like sticks from trees and chair legs.

While there is a more alien factor of the itr1 anomalies of it not belonging to our known environment, it isn't as good as making it fit as a in-between thing of alien and our world that itr2 anomalies does.

Maybe I'm a sucker for stalker like anamolies, that fall into more altered versions of existing thing, but it definitely is my preference compared to something that might look cool, but feel detached

Referring to the electrocubes and how they used to be invisible 90% of the time

Yeah the anomalies are really flashy and they just look out of place

#

The old anomalies looked more sciency and mysterious and thought provoking

itr1 to itr2 feels like going from incomprehensible cosmic horror to 'its aliens bro' in a lot of ways. I think it's the swirlies on reflectors. The generic alien looking metal on artifacts. the cube in outskirts. If they'd pivoted back to black goo and more ghost-like visuals on enemies, maybe bring back black grass, it'd give us back the horror potential. The feeling you get that it's probably just aliens takes away the mystery and therefore the fear of the unknown that the first game had

#

its also the fact that the world isnt basically in grayscale anymore

#

more warmth to it

I love the way the ITR2 has the anomalies. I like them alot more than ITR1 but everyone has a different opinion.

eager crow
#

it's certainly a different vibe

#

I don't hate them per se

#

but I've thought for a long time that something didn't feel quite right, that it didn't feel like ITR in the world's visuals

strongly miss the cosmic unformed creatures from ITR1. black grass was amazing too. all enemies were way simplier but that what was so terrifying about them. wish they would o back to this kind of concept, where we can have a variety of malformed entities that try to mimic a dead realty. new models are just goofy for me. spawns are now just wires i dunno lol

#

I kinda get where they're going though, the radius has always mimicked aspects of earth life. I mean - mimics lol

#

but they look too... human? generic? they have wonky textures and models like bastardised guns and uniforms but there's not enough SAUCE there

#

i feel like everythin is too metalic, and specifically too many squares lol miss the old artifacts too. were really lovecrafty (imho)

I loved my shiny objects

but from a distance, where you're likely going to be fighting them, mimics just looks like regular CoD army guys

and the (thankfully placeholder) AI voicelines just... suck lol

itr1's voicelines were so good and creepy on first playthroughs. like they'd play like audio tapes of people talking or singing, or when they'd actually mimic voices it sounded so fucked up to match the malice of the thing making the sound

#

now its just "you nasty girl."

#

"Firing."

#

ugh. YUCK.

cedar rapids
#

yesss they felt like they were luring you, so terrifying. I always pictured like two agents exploring for what happened to an area, then they hear a little kid calling them from the building, one takes a fast step further, the other one holds his shoulder and says "that is no kid. no kid would survive this madness." BAM

eager crow
#

honestly as cliche as it is, the 'hush now baby dont say a word' voiceline GOT me when i first heard it

cedar rapids
#

first time playing ITR1 without outside info is really an experience. you get lured tons of times and never know what to expect. I didnt know what were all the enemies until I finished the game so I didnt spoil anything, so I was always really careful and terrified hahahah what a game

I saw bits and pieces. I knew what mimics were, but only the policemen. First time i got BLASTED by a hunter I remember just standing there dumbfounded in shock for like 20 seconds with my mouth hung agape like 'wot' lmao

#

that was in the construction site in bolotky lol
