Honestly I like the new peninsula fog. The map is so small that its not really detrimental, and it gives a nice atmosphere to the place. Plus, the strongest enemies you see here are mimic cops which arent that big of a threat (and usually only 2 or 3 of them), so them having a slight edge on you with the visibility is ok.
I mean for me its kinda, they can see me obviously well, i have to figure out little details where to shoot actually

It's worth mentioning that this is in the middle of the night and the fog lets up quite a bit during the day.

I wouldnt mind the fog in distance or little further away, right know its little too close
I like how the shader is set up because it reduces eyestrain on LCD headsets. the only thing I would change is the tint of the fog because it can get confused with the tide.
Honestly now that Im thinking about it, having weather ingame would be incredible. I currently live on the coast and, while we do get thick fog here, its not permanent. Having fog randomly roll in / out to add even more variety to your excursions in the radius would be super cool. (Of course, enemy vision would need to be reduced during thick fog, sincs they already have unfairly good eyesight when it comes to fog and foliage). Maybe rain and storms could be a thing too, though I do get how those might take away from the eerie, lifeless feel of the zone.

if the fog is here for optimization reasons then I get that, but tbh it doesnt feel like the game runs any better at all with the thick fog vs before it

And outskirt dont have fog nearly as bad and its the biggest map

Fanta Forest was a personal opinion too in the beggining and it got fixed/changed

vtolvr looks awful by 2d game standards, but due to the nature of how you physically interact with everything in the cockpit, as well as having a simulated HOTAS it is so much more immersive than playing any 2d flight sim
good graphics are nice but shouldnt ever be the priority imo
Alritight my observations
First key note is I dont think the amount of fog acutally changes trough the day, it really seemes after standing on a roof for like 20 in game hours the fog density is the same
Second key note that there are some weird (to me) color shifts happenig
Third note is that for some reason midnight is brighter then 21

I was laying on a couch stargazing
So probably got little funky
Sometimes to kill time i just sit in peninsula looking out over the water
Crazy how you lost like 50% food in one night of laying down
Yeah the food is a thing of its own xd
Expensive and runs out instantly
Also i saw some weird fog behaviour during the night
Like i turned food to the lowest and its still an issue
You can kinda see how the white fog is only in front of me not to the sides
Then i turned a little bit, and the spot in between those two was black instead of gray
Could get a clip
But the fog kinda moves infront of you but leaves the sides black
Yeah its like there is just a wall 50m away locked to your head rotation
This one is acceptable
Also im kinda lost on the shit colored fog, how is there way less visibility at 17 then at 18
Idk man. I always sleep trough nights now
But i would still argue there is little too much fog

The last one at 0800 is not that bad, but when it hits midday its get bad again
I guess its the inconsitency for me more then the actual fog

Really wish we would get the rifle light from itr1 back. That thing was peak. Or nods later on
My final thoughts are, altough not as bad as Fanta Forest, I do feel like the peninsula could be improved in terms of visibility and general vibe, the shit colored fog just isnt it and thats most of the day, I think the fog should have the same color across all maps and be grayish like a fog not poop cloud.

You can even see the poop fog obscures for example trees way more then the gray one
The poop ones blend stuff together really well

Its noticible on the tree branches, in the gray one you can kinda see most of them in the poop one basically none that have a backdrop

This is what i listen to when cleaning apartments
- the flashlight is a little one for pistols, we need a bigger one for rifles/helmets
- you can't attach the flashlight to the ARC rails IRL, you would actually need an ARC to picatinny adapter for it
- there's no reason the "headlamp" shouldn't be able to go over the helmet
its also pointed too far down imo

But If you have anything to say toward my points i would love to hear it, i think i put it together pretty well for the q_d and its written pretty nicely, but more ideas or some counter points are always appreciated
This is a difficult one, because vibes are heavily personal, but I have some points.
The maps:
I think the best example of well done vibes is Outskirts, not even talking about visibility ect now, just the vibes. I feel like the lifeless gray that surrounded the first game most of the time fits the game best, it just looks dead, like a place where I shouldnt be, like a place I dont understand because its nowhere else to be found. Forest is for me pretty decent right now, although i would prefer more lifeless colors, right now I do feel like im somwhere "kind of" normal disregarding the big ass ball in the sky, with the bigger emphasis on orange color. The map with worst vibes is Peninsula in my opinion, the heavy fog , which I feel like should be atleast somehow dynamic (in the morning and evening only type stuff) but regardless, has a weird poopy color in some times of the day, which I feel like takes again away from the lifelesness of the gray, brown feels more like a after disaster sight, like you know Stalker felt with the dark browns.
The mimics:
I must be heavy on the voicelines, I know they are placeholders but talking vibes in general. The mimics in my opinion should be confused, lost, like something getting replicated not star wars droids with "Roger Roger Engaging enemy!!!!!" Artifact had some really good ideas and I agree with him about voicelines, I would love to hear people lost and I dont think the mimics as in the entity should communicate in any way, think of it as a glitch it cant get rid of, the mind still seeping altough absorbed into something un-understandable. For some examples, them just trying to piece sentances together, getting shot and saying "Hit... hurt... No bloood...?" for me personally, this fragmented mind is way more freaky then "Can Mike come out and play", but Mike line is also fine, cuz its a remnant of a mind long gone. One i really like is the one with the ciggarets and I think all of them should speak along those lines. Lets say you get noticed and all you hear is "No.. No... dont shoot..." or maybe sometimes hear something like "A.. A human...?" or just simple "Friend..ly.." just against hammers down the point what happens to the mind is beyond horror and dread, are they still in there? Or is it just remnants the radius cannot get rid of due to not understanding conciousnes well enough. Like a glitch.
The horror:
I think there is GIANT and i mean GIANT potential for this to be one of the scariest experiences ever in VR. Maybe if some enviromental scares were added, like for example sometimes theres TVs with charcoal hand sticking out of them, those could pop up whenever player gets close and just do a little scare, the TV glass breaking would be enough to get me shit my pants in VR. Also another thing I would like to note is, the player is really powerful and after you get a rifle lots of the scares go away, I think solving this with regulating loot or making stuff more expansive is not the right solution, let players have their best kit and have them absolutely powerless. Im talking about stuff like Valheim has, in Valheim, there is a small chance Odin will spawn in a distance and he just watches you, if you get close he dips. If something along these lines was added to radius, where you could see just head poking out of a tree and if you get close theres nothing would make the horror on different level, at that point, you just dont know if thats actually something that can attack you (most poeple wont ask in discord), but theres something watching you, observing which is really unnerving in its own way.
Also I feel like there should be little more focus on the "creeps" and spawns or what are they called, miltiary mimics provide bigger threat, but are not as scary because they are in the end, humanoid. Would love to see some stuff from suggestions like enemies disguising themselves as loot, maybe have some little animation or sound queue so we can spot the disguising mimic and it would attack when we pick up the stuff, you could spawn a normal creep that would hit you once and do its thing like they do. Really liked the idea of weeping angles, maybe have one wondering around sanatorium, its closed anyways and cannot get out, but when you need to go into sanatorium, shit is gonna get real real quick, personally I would make it invincible to most weapons, maybe stuns, but you gotta keep your eyes on it if you want that sweet sweet loot. My friend had a idea for some of the charcoal people be this way, like a weeping angel, you never know if they are just normal or actually an enemy from the distance. Would again add uncertainty and anxiety to do anything really. Pickup loot, just go around the charcoal people cuz some of them will just snap your neck if you are not careful. Also I would love to see again more stuff like from the first game like train sounds, maybe doors closing and opening, windows getting glassed out and just ligher flickering trying to light a cig. The last one to the horror is little bit of a reach I feel like, but I do think it would be really cool to have a radius "representative" cuz its getting smarter, entity with more cognitive abilites then the rest, something as a massenger of a "mad god", like the mouth of Sauron was in LOTR, could tie up nicely into some story elements like first game had. Wouldnt have to be normal enemy, just something you would see during top priority mission, again it could stalk you, taking notes, learning.
Kind of like the Dark Ones from Metro, dudes are something beyond you, human mind would never understand the higher goals, cuz we are after all, human and we want to be alive.
The cube:
This might be more personal then other points, the cube just doesnt do it for me. I dont mind the geometry, but the outside border of the shifting stuff inside is clear cut cube, I would love to see some shapes like when ur trying to image 4D, just shifting, not making any sense, all shapes at once and none at the same time.

Those voice lines are definitely super interesting and I do like them
But I would prefer if there were a little less obvious iykwim
Like multiple people trying to speak at the same time, not just one, maybe some lines can be "EN-stop-OUGH!!" Where two people are trying to speak and interrupt each other, "w-AAH-hy", also, this could also fit in with the whole fragmented speech thing, where the mimic says it's "stop, you're gonna break it" but randomly the audio can cut out and cut to another person trying to reach out through the mimic
But I think these scenarios should be rare
Since having too many could just desensitize people.

I would like for mimics to just say things randomly, I don't like the combat lines because of this reason, they feel too aware

They should just say random things, or whistle randomly while literally trying to kill, just to show that they are still not fully there, and I agree with artifacts, the mimics should overall be silent, it makes them a lot scarier, and tbh, the combination of eerie silence, and just random nonsensical statements, is pretty awesome

Yeah most of the times for sure, but i feel like like you said, if you sometimes get some resemblance of cognitive capabilites from time to time its another depth

The whistling that the mimics do is awesome, idc how many people have said it before, it's genuinely my favorite thing about the mimics, it gives them this eerieness that the other voice lines don't. I want the mimics to have different voices, sometimes they sound like a robotic ghost, other times they sound like a little girl lost in the woods

Mimics being too aware makes them not scary. They should cry randomly, say nonsensical things, glitch out and reveal the lost souls reaching out to the player, they should do all of that stuff 💯. Also, I would love for the statues to sometimes say things when you're near, like "why are you here", "leave", and maybe even start screaming/crying and break themselves with a glass shattering sound effect
It would be cool to see a statue turn its head and say something to you, and then turn back to normal

Random events can be hit or miss. Id day something like the random bursts of anomaloes energy in stalker anomaly
They sometimes shift forward into your face when you're close, and just the way that they pose and stand just freaks me out

The cube is a good shift from BTR I feel like
It shows that they have their own personality, and tbh it's kinda goofy, but when you realize that this thing is going to kill you, it really shows you that, they're really not human, they're sinister, but at the same time, they feel human

It's paired with the distorted artifacts
Thats maybe overdoing it, i just like stuff really easily understandable xd
But the more effort put in, the more chances that it will get properly noticed and used in my opinion
