@solid plover i swear, the mounted flashlight and headlamp used to work fine for me before 0.13b3. could this have anything to do with the new shaders that the game is using..? it's also super weird that the chest lamp and handheld flashlight still work.

@solid plover hey, i solved this one. i was using Windows 10, and W10 goes End of Life in October, so it was time to upgrade. i wiped my old OS and installed Windows 11. same hardware, new OS. the flashlight now works and i think the headlamp will too. scratch this one from your list, bud - it was a problem with my OS and not with the game!

But the GPU was not related to the issue. It was a problem with my OS. I was still using Windows 10. The flashlight and other lighting effects now work properly with Windows 11.

I suspect that CMG are primarily using Windows 11 to develop and test their game.

TL;DR: if you’re going to play Into the Diameter, use Windows 11 for best results.

I suspect you had some corruption going on

# delicate ivy I suspect you had some corruption going on

That’s also very possible, because I had used that Windows 10 install for about 5 years and of course I had installed a bunch of crazy shit. But I also don’t have a way to test either theory because I wiped the old OS during the transition. 🤷

You also updated the GPU driver right?

#

I guess that 32.0.15.7602 was the version but I've never seen one like that

I tried older drivers, newer drivers, and reinstalling the previously used driver. None changed the result (dead flashlight).

Maybe older directx version?

You may be interested in knowing that I never saw the “sparkly” lights that happen on the light-sensitive artifacts when you point the flashlight at them before I upgraded to Windows 11, and I never saw the structure pieces that fly away after grabbing the skin sphere (?) artifacts out of the sphere.

Idek if DX even updates

You basically played the lowest low

Yes, DirectX changes with every Windows release. I was thinking that it had something to do with that. But 10 and 11 both use DX12 with minor differences? Again, I dunno.

Either way, Windows 10 reaches EOL this October so pretty soon this will be a non-issue.
