Just like the title says, every time I try to start up a multiplayer game it crashes back to steam vr home. I don’t know if I have messed something up or if it’s my hardware setup. I have tried everything I can think of except doing a port forward in the router for the game. (Which to me sounds a little obtuse).
For starters, my setup:
Late 2020 HP Omen 15 laptop, core i7, 32 gig ram, rtx2060, secondary internal 2t m.2 Ssd (the game resides on this drive and not on an external drive).
Headset: quest 2 256 gig model that I handle with baby gloves.
Network setup: cox home internet. Mesh router, hardline with cat 8 the asus gaming router with wifi6, hardline with cat 8 to laptop. Only thing that WiFi’s to that router is my headset.
Connection methods I have tried from headset to computer:
Hardline using oculus link equivalent optical cable = crash
Hardline with usb 3 c to c = crash
Hardline with usb 3 a to c = crash
Hardline with usb 2 c to c = crash
Air link = crash
Steam vr link = crash
Virtual desktop = crash.
As for playing the normal game non multiplayer = works fine.
Someone please tell me what I have overlooked and please don’t say that the thing I overlooked was using a q2 headset that requires oculus link to go hardline. I get that it’s a bottleneck point but i to try to alleviate that when I have the headset plugged to the computer I unplug all usb devices so as to not throttle the internal usb hub bandwidth.
