#Weapon weight simulation removed in 0.11.0??

I booted up ITR2 for the first time since the new update dropped, and was shocked when my big two handed rifle made out of wood and steel felt paperlight again like ITR1 weapons did.

Please please please... add the weapon weightiness back in if it was removed. Or at least provide a toggle for those of use who DO like the added feeling of realism with the physics of the game. No idea if this is a bug or what, but I can see the micromovements of my hand translated to the gun if I'm just holding it, and there's no cool weighty feeling sway when I unholster it anymore.

I worry that weapon weight simulation will once again just be removed because some of the community prefer raw input. It's a solo/co-op game though. Being more immersive and feeling like you're actually in a world is more important than twitch shooter reactions imo.

I apologize for being slightly ranty, but I care a lot about how good VR games FEEL not just how they look.

Also for some reason the guns collide with the charecters model which just annoys me, It might be some sort of attempted virtual stock but it just feels clunky

#

I think the two handed weapons have always felt somewhat stiff in itr2

As a counterpoint, in my opinion, the 1:1 movement with raw input, just like in ITR1, is the best for immersion.

#

I just can't help thinking that ITR1 movements and controls were just so smooth and polished, that sometimes ITR2 feels like under water physics, or somewhat clumsy. But it's still in EA, so they'll perfect it over time.

#

But to each their own, and since this topic seems to be dividing players, the best solution would be a setting to enable/disable raw input vs simulated weight.

Yeah I would prefer the weightless free feeling like itr1 the current system seems clunky and hard to use

#

It's clunky in a way different than any VR game with weight to their guns too, it's just frustrating to aim with a two handed weapon

Ideally an option would be best, but I don't understand how people DON'T have the same micro stutters (or just would prefer that over a little bit of smoothing, just a crumb of not looking and feeling cheap imo). Also I'm basing off some real world weapons I've gotten to shoot at the range. Guns in the real world are heavy enough to not pick up those micro movements that VR controllers do.

#

I love Into The Radius, and the sequel is looking to be even better. I just don't want them to go backwards with the immersion. VR is all about being immersed and zero weight to the weapons isn't my thing at all.

No other game seems to have that kind of micro stutteriness unless they just have zero smoothing.

I think they should add weapon smoothing and weapon floaty weightness as separate settings

#

The weighty feel to the weapons is horrible imo

#

But I do like a bit of smoothing

I'm entirely okay with just a solid weapon smoothing option. VAIL has the best imo where you can choose the intensity of the smoothing. Think it's a solid example of it being done right, and it can be toggled off entirely for those who don't want it.

#

That said I also do like the weightiness. I know it's a preference thing though. I want VR to feel less like a video game and more like a simulation a lot of the time. The weight adds tangibility for me personally. Like it's an actual object I'm holding and not just a picture being rendered on the screen in front of me.

Thanks for the response! And that's understandable. Different preferences for different people. Since it's a solo/co-op shooter I'm okay with "fighting the control" so to speak.

#

Just really hope they don't remove it entirely long term.

#

It was my biggest complaint from the first game (well aside from climbing).

I kinda liked climbing, sure it was janky but it was fun to fling yourself up walls.

Agreed! Pick up games before adventuring into the radius. xD
