I think the main issue is that we're currently up against so many Mimics - which can now reliably hit us at such long ranges

Im not certain. I beta tested before release and a lot of us agreed it needs some more time

Their reason is feedbacl helps and they do have a point, itr1 went the same way and now it's one of the best vr games out there

It's in active development, ofcourse its not worth it now. It will/should be on release, this way they get to have people play the game before it's released to provide feedback and improve the game. Closed betas can do the same thing, but the playerbase of a closed beta tends to be smaller. And handing out that many NDAs could also be a bad idea. They can't just make the game cheaper right now because then the people who would purchase it now wouldn't have to pay full price later.
