#Dark Souls style multiplayer?

I know this game is intended to remain co-op only for the near future but I feel that darks souls multiplayer elements would be an interesting addition. There could be 2 main aspects:

  1. The ability to temporaraly summon the "spirit" of another exporer for assistance. the spirit could spawn in with randomised weapons based on the hosts security level and be unable to pick up any items.
  2. The ability to invade other players by inhabiting the body of a mimic. This could add a whole new level of difficulty to the game. Giving the invader a chance to hunt, and the invadee a chance to be trully hunted
    (this pvp style gameplay could be emulated in co-op as well by allowing people to turn off their map markers)

Eh, doesn't really fit into the lore of ITR and we're getting standard coop anyways. Mimic invasions are pretty funny to imagine though.

souls like multiplayer is awful, no need to bring it over there

No. PvP should ALWAYS be opt-in. I love dark souls. DS1 is one of my favorite games ever. I fucking hate the devs adamance in locking certain functions away if you don't wanna PvP.

It also adds a lot of complexity, and also adds an issue of security as this game is P2P
