Don't use a quest but used similar guides for DCS so big fan of this sort of write up of how to squeeze every last bit of performance out of a game, can be real handy on weaker hardware (quest in this case) or for tougher to run games
Wow this is very well wrote, thank you for sharing
yep no problem took me like 3 hours and the other countless hours of testing
Amazing job, I just got done looking thru it. Approved for sure, this can help out a lot of people. You did a good job takin screenshots as well, I'm a fan of well wrote out guides. I may use this myself lol
thank you very much, i figured i should share my experiences since i kinda like to tweak with games just for fun
Yes, I am going to ask our CM to add this to our reddit homepage, crediting you of course ^.^
oh dang, sounds good i will be more than glad to spread it around
I'm definitelly reading trought that later, thank you
Boost Performance in ITR [Updated 4/4/23]
Thank you this is incredibly helpful and insightful. I have a 3070ti, i7-12700K with Samsung 980 Pro NVMe and yet I still have had issues running VR games at consistent framerates on my rig. The second I try to record / stream anything it tanks even further as well. I'll be using your guide to tinker with my settings. 🫡
Im honestly lost, i have a 3070 and an intel I5 12400F with 32 gigs of ram with the game installed in an ssd and still struggling to pump out 40 fps on native settings, my old pc with corrupted windows files ran this at 40 fps and it only had a rx 570, is their anyone that can help me figure out what's killing my performance?
I've tried using the vr performance kit and haven't seen an a worth while stability or fps increase
all the settings were set properly and to max performance as well
did you try looking for any applications that is dumping on performance in task manager?
The oculus dash is one of the top drains, I could use oculus killer to get rid of the dash but I feel like I don’t need to get to that extreme considering my utilities
In the steam guid that was posted, if memory isn’t failing me the person was running an rx580 getting better performance out of 4gigs of vram while I’m getting worse performance with 12
I’m planning on getting myself virtual desktop to see if that can help
i had issues with oculus link itself with low fps and poor quality that's one of the reasons I use virtual desktop, when I was using oculus link i couldn't figure out what was wrong so im quite clueless
Can you help me set up virtual desktop sense I honestly have no clue what I’ll have to do
yes sure thing
Thank you, i've finished downloading virtual desktop, do i open it in vr or do i open it on my pc to set it up?
so you need to go on your search browser and find the virtual desktop streamer app
and download that
next you run virtual desktop on your headset and connect to your computer after you type in your username
alrighty ive put my user name in, its warning me about my internet setting being set to private, i wont be running the headset of air link, do you think i still should set is as public?
I kept mine private and it seemed to work fine, as long as your PC is hooked up to an internet connection with your headset on the same connection you should be fine
did you log into your computer on your headset?
you should see a "computers" tab with your pc's name in it
i used the quest link, I didn't see a way to do it with out it
wdym you used the quest link?
I booted up my headset and used the quest link to open the application, do I need to boot it up from just the quest alone?
Sorry I have 0 clue what I’m doing rn TwT
so did you purchase the virtual desktop app off the meta quest store?
ye its an app you launch from your headset without quest link
Damn it
welp
Oculus
Connect wirelessly to your computer(s) to watch movies, browse the web, play 2D games or stream PCVR games. Virtual Desktop is a highly optimized, native application developed for low latency, high quality streaming.

• PCVR game streaming requires a VR Ready PC running Window...
Thanks for trying tho, mmmmm I need to figure this out now, I already purchased it in steam believing I wouldn’t need to worry about it
Welp
if you got it off steam you can do wired i believe
but you lose the freedom of being able to run around a room
oh yeah, i dont really care for the wireless thing
i only cared for going around the whole oculus app
ah, i would just refund and buy it off the quest store, i havent tried wired yet and i don't want to
