Open Steam and keep it open. Navigate to your Steam/SteamApps/Common folder and find SteamVR folder and then rename it to SteamVROriginal. Back in Steam, right-click SteamVR (if you can't find it, search VR) and open properties. Find the BETAS tab and select Oculus_Win7and8 of SteamVR for Older Oculus Software. Then, go to the LOCAL FILES tab and verify intergrity of files. When done, repeat the same Process for IntoTheRadius by renaming it's folder to IntoTheRadiusOriginal, then right-clicking, going to properties and into the BETAS tab, select 1.0 for SteamVR Old Game version for Oculus HMD. Verify files the same was as before. In the GENERAL tab, type -vrmode Oculus in the Launch Options at the bottom and then close the properties box. Reopen virtual desktop and launch ITR thru VD's game menu and enjoy!
#How to Run v1.0 Thru Steam and Virtual Desktop
47 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
Interesting trick with steamVr version, wish I found this sooner, finished 1.0 playthrough just a couple of days ago.
I wounder if it works with some other titles that not fully support VD...
@rapid finch
to anyone else using this and having issues, try setting the virtual desktop refresh rate to anything other than 72fps, for some reason that seems to not work
Saving for later
so is this for both using steam vr and virtual desktop or just steam vr?
im only asking as i dont have virtual desktop
and for some reason the beta you mentioned does seem to work as i dont get the menu at the start
the other beta seems to work fine though
virtual desktop, if you try use VD without doing this stuff the menu and a bunch of other in game stuff just doesnt work so you cant play
If I want to use SteamVR normally again, and ITR, too, I just rename the folders back to their initial versions and also rename the modified folders, and verify files again? i.e. SteamVROriginal becomes SteamVR again, and the „modified“ folder can be either deleted or renamed to anything else than „SteamVR“ in order to go back to normal?
yup, just reverse the process
essentially the one names IntoTheRadius and SteamVR are your primarys ones that will launch with steams, unless you create custom launchers
rename steamVR in your steamapps common folder. I have mine setup like this.
then go into steamVR and set the version to the beta shown above
itll download the dated version of steamVR
Optionally, you can then rename it as follows and then disable the beta in steam so that your regular steamVR install is up to date
whenever you want to run ITR v1.0 just rename the folders. Apparently some people can install the seperate steamVR as a non steam game but virtual desktop doesn't seem to like the old version of steamVR for me
exactly as stucho has showed
Didn't work for me, got no menu
this is not for fixing the white menu, this is for 1.0
Ended up just using the fact I bought the game on my quest to play 1.0 through Oculus
also not the issue, the issue was no menu
like, at all
🤷♂️
No menu is usually what happens when people try to run 1.0 using virtual desktop. The fix is either use airlink or follow the steps here
in my case the fix was use the oculus version... since I bought the game for the quest I owned on oculus so...
for some reason itr 1.0 doesn't like steam link on the quest 2
is there a way to get it to work with steam link?
it likely has the same problem as virtual desktop. The fix is to use an old version of steamVR (which may or may not be possible if using steam link).
its more than likely not possible for steam link to connect to old versions of steam vr as steam link for steam vr is very new and was just added not long ago
but i still have airlink for the quest2
and i have yet to own a copy of vd on either steam or oculus
also old steam vr griped at me for it not being up to update the first time i tried to setup itr 1.0
hopefully it doesn't this go round
If you use airlink it should work fine. Yeah i wouldnt expect steamlink to work if using old steamVR but you never know unless you try.
I've spent two hours trying every which way with this here, and then including OVR AS fix, different betas, and on and on. No menu whatever I do. I really want to be able to play 1.0, so please help!
It may seem anoying because of the wire, but from my own experience, playing plugged in is better
Well the topic here is Virtual Desktop, so... 😃
for some reason the beta that is mentioned in the guide above doesn't seem to work at all, atleast for me it doesn't, when using either version of steam vr. and the "itr_1.0 - Old game version" beta is the only beta i got to work for 1.0
Im aware, ive struggled with vd and it seems the cord was the best bet for me, also my internet is dog balls so that might kinda be why
Just my own advice
Tried both... in all combinations with the other parameters
