Windows 10 End of Life Notice – October 14, 2025
As many of you may know, Microsoft will officially end support for Windows 10 on October 14, 2025. After this date, Windows 10 will no longer receive security updates or official support from Microsoft.
To ensure transparency and continued player safety, we want to inform you of the following changes:
Game Startup Warning Message
Starting soon, players running Path of Titans on Windows 10 will see an startup notice reminding them that the operating system has reached end-of-life status. This message is meant to keep players informed about the potential risks of using an unsupported OS.
Continued Game Compatibility
Path of Titans will continue to function on Windows 10 for the foreseeable future. However, as Microsoft has ended support, we can no longer guarantee stability or security on that platform. Over time, new updates may not be fully compatible with older systems.
QA Testing Changes
Our mainline QA testing will shift focus away from Windows 10. While we expect the game to continue running, our testing and optimization efforts for Desktop PCs will primarily target Windows 11, macOS, and Linux going forward.
Extended Security Updates (For EU)
Because Windows 10 is reaching end of support, Microsoft has announced a one-year Extended Security Updates (ESU) option to bridge the gap; however, this is limited to certain regions in the EU, has significant restrictions, and is not universally available.
Additionally, there is an active lawsuit alleging that Microsoft is strategically timing the end of Windows 10 support to push users into buying new hardware or migrating to Windows 11, especially when many devices cannot meet Windows 11’s requirements.
If Microsoft changes or extends the end-of-life schedule due to legal or regulatory pressure, we will adjust Path of Titans’ support on Windows 10 accordingly.
Environmental & E-Waste Concerns
One more important factor to consider is the environmental impact of forcing or strongly encouraging the replacement of otherwise functional hardware. Windows 11’s stricter minimum requirements (such as TPM 2.0, Secure Boot, and a restricted list of supported CPUs) mean many still capable systems become ineligible for upgrade, which in turn may push owners to discard or replace them.
Estimates suggest that hundreds of millions of PCs might be affected by Windows 11’s compatibility constraints, potentially being deemed “obsolete” even though they can still function.
This abrupt obsolescence raises environmental concerns and may impose costs on users who did not need or want to change hardware solely to satisfy OS requirements.
What You Can Do
We strongly recommend upgrading to a supported operating system to ensure the best gameplay experience, stability, and security.
Players can choose from:
- Windows 11
- macOS
- Linux distributions such as Ubuntu, SteamOS, and others.
These platforms will continue to receive full QA support and optimizations for Path of Titans moving forward. Many of these other platforms like Linux, continue to work great on unsupported devices for Windows 11.
Please reach out to our support team if you have any questions as we are more then happy to help people with upgrades.
Thank you for your continued support and understanding as we adapt to these platform changes. <@&630630072914542592>
