No problem. Even if you have 6 medals already, you can't claim it until they let you. But if you get more than 6 medals you unlock the added legacy features like tracers and stuff. I'm not sure exactly how it works, but I think if you get every possible medal you are guaranteed to have every feature. Less than that probably will get less features.
