Yes, its TTK is higher, but its fire rate is very forgiving + allows you to kill multiple enemies faster in general. Recoil hasn't really ever been a problem for me with it

As for range, in MP at least with my experience youre rarely far enough away for it to matter for marksmans. Unless youre playing like across the entire map. which at that point yeah, you might as well be using a sniper for the scope. Not having a scope on the irons allows you to play well at any range, especially close to mid range
