General game sense you should have in playing codm:

• definitely do not try to provoke the enemies by getting to their face first either from ego challenge, or really want to get kills, it's a team based game you won't do much against 5 enemies alone. Find a way to kill them from catching them off guard and get to shoot first with the right aim.
• pay attention to the map and also teammates, sometimes the enemies gave away their position by either shooting or footsteps in close range that you can anticipate very easily, carefully observing your teammates that dying from rushing is also going to give you an idea where the enemies are on the map for a split second from killing your teammates, either you attempt to caught them off guard after finishing your teammates or just ignore.
• having good sense of how the map looks like, also gives you an idea how would enemies moving from the spawn to several specific spots that give you advantage on shooting, we call it power position. By knowing these exact power position and also a way to counter it without exposing yourself a lot is a game changer.
• similar like 1st point, ego challenging is stupid. Get to know about your own gun on what it can do and also what it couldn't do. Think Twice before getting into gun fight against someone that already know where is your position and that if your current gun can beat them or not.
• don't be greedy, I dare you. Don't rush out towards enemies just because they're left with 1 hp left and out of your aim, aware of your surroundings first and consider if it's worth to go for finishing if there are enemie's teammates near that spot to rush into.

Having mindset 1 kill for 1 death is straight dumb and bad, survive as much as you can while getting as much kill as you could.
