First of all, 'they' can be used for either singular or plural.
Secondly, although you aren't wrong about bots leaving, players take that bots place instead. It depends on the player's skill/level will depend if you win or lose.
In my case, the player was in my league (Same Level and skill), but due to how many times they were dying (Caused by Cluster Strikes, Orbital Lasers, and Napalms), they rage quitted to find a different lobby.
