Is it 3”?
correct
I say this about every frame. Get side braces made
Cause they look cool and add strength and they are optional
do you have a reference image?
oh for the arm
Just long thin bits of carbon that screw into ur motor posts
Nice bit of strength and i think they look cool
ye ill get something done for it.
Just a thought :)) looks good tho
other than that is there anything i need to change/add
That way you could just get a handful cut with it and ur good
ye ill see what i can do
Yea your arms are all one piece so side braces breaking rather than arms could save you a lot
Thanks haha thank you. Might give me an idea for it name
ye i want to save weight and costs to manufacture
Makes sense
thats a pretty good idea
Another cool thing about side braces
Ur quad has carbon handles now
Never seen a glossy carbon frame
There’s probably a reason why but idk 😂
convenient carry
Very
i thought that but i cant tell if its worth going for
costs the same but a single bottom frame might look nice with gloss
Nah just go with normal carbon
no point iof it weighs more
If it ain’t broke don’t fix it
ye thats true but i cant get over how funky and satisfying it looks so ive emailed the company for a data sheet comparing their glossy vs non gloss sheets. Just curious
also do I need to add any slots to the main frame or the top?
ive tried to get adequate cooling for the vtx and fc but Also enough holes for mounting peripherals or different battery straps
I’d say anymore and your gonna loose durability
ye top frame feels really good even with acrylic. Bottom flexes quite a bnit but may stiffen up with carbon
the only thing that could make this frame bad is bad resonance
Are you planning to cut the frame yourself or get it cut?
Also what carbon thickness are you planning to use?
Also @spare ridge the 2 in frame that I designed is supposed to arrive on Saturday! I will send some pictures when I put it together. I also got some of the 14mm standoffs for it
And what camera mounting are you planning on putting on it? A cnc part or a 3d print?
amazing!
Yeah I am pretty happy. I am looking at some vci motors for 3s for it too
1103 7500kv is the spec. Still deciding if I should get a higher kv though
I have access to a waterjet cutter to most likely using that myself but ive sent the files to pcbway to see what they quote me.
3mm bottom with 2mm top
I like to use cnc madness, good prices too. But if you know how to use the water jet that would also work just make sure you orient the carbon fiber right. The camera is a little exposed in my opinion but if you want it that way go ahead. The carbon thickness seem good though
Great feedback. Thanks. I've looked at cnc madness for an older project but the shipping is a bit too steep for my liking. Not their fault just where I'm based. I agree with the camera. The plan was to make something like the xdrei frame but I sacrificed shorter wheelbase and weight for camera protection which I'm not a fan of but it would take too much effort to get it longer. I am planning on swapping to walksnail so I'm hoping the smaller camera will allow me to place it a bit further in the frame for some more protection.
The idea was I wanted no props in view regardless of the camera setup used
I think it can be solved with either a aluminium or 3d printed adaptation to the frame a bit like the proto25 to give it more protection
Yeah the shipping is not the cheapest but it's very fast. I usually get my frames cut, shipped and delivered in 1-1.5 weeks
Are you based in the states? I think they ship from canada
they are on the boarder so they get domestic shipping in both
Aah I see. I'm on the other side of the pond in the UK. Last qoute I got was 15CAD shipping alone
also make sure that the motor mounting is right. When I found out that 9x9 meant a circle with a 9mm diameter I was really annoyed
In my opinion that isn't too bad for shipping across the ocean
Made that same mistake myself. Good thing I made an assembly with a 1404 motor becuase I found out early
Not sure why it's 9mm diameter
yeah the first frame that I got cut (which is a bad frame to begin with) will now never be used
its really weird because stacks are 30mm by 30mm when they say 30x30 but not for motors
Ye I don't understand why but it's a good thing I caught on early before I got it made.
Do you think I should extend the nose section to make room for the camera to sit inside more
Or just get it cut as is and the worry about the camera protection by making a more secure 3d print
Or just leaving it as is
If you look at the xdrei they do the same thing
I would say it depends on the reason of the frame. For cinematic shots you want absolutely no props or side panels so that's why they did it there but for freestyle and racing its a weak point because the camera can easily run in to stuff.
