#ELRS Setup

Have you installed the configurator yet?
The issue is primarily that it disconnects from the connected device after 10 seconds or less
are you talking about wifi?
Yes
I’ve followed @twilit lance he was very helpful and we got the radio and drone connected
Reflash via USB/passthrough
iPhone 13 and a acre nitro 5
iphone will ignore wifi without internet if data is on
I’m not sure I would sssume if it’s needed
I’ve done all basic trouble shooting
Well em said I should have it available to setup or manage
So I should just leave it?
you should flash both the transmitter and the receiver to the newest version with a binding phrase set
We tried but it kept disconnecting
Reflash the receiver via USB or FTDI
USB ain’t working and idk what ftd is
Flash it via USB, post the log if you get an error
Okay well I’m away from it for the next few days so I will and send logs
Just wondering how common the disconnection problem is and if there’s any fixes
bruh
It happens if the flash didn't complete properly, and the fix is to flash via USB or FTDI
What is ftdi
USB-Serial adapter
Okay well I can try flashing via usb again
But the WiFi thing shouldn’t be an issue
It’s weird
Did you flash via WiFi previously?
No I got the phrase in so I could get them to pair
So technically I solved it to where I can fly
With WiFi
Isn't this the one that is a little usb dongle that goes through UART? I believe radiomaster has one if I am correct.
Yes, there are several
BetaFPV and Radiomaster both sell them, as do Amazon and AliExpress

When upgrading ELRS receivers, there are primarily two options: Wi-Fi and Serial Port. While Wi-Fi upgrading is very user-friendly and doesn't require additional accessories, it can be susceptible to failures caused by unstable networks. For a more reliable and professional upgrade experience, RadioMaster ExpressLRS UA
ExpressLRS Recovery Dongle is an FTDI USB to TTL module based on the CP2102 bridge controller, which is applied to the firmware upgrade for the ESP32&ESP8XX chip. The ExpressLRS Recovery Dongle is compatible with many ELRS receivers in the market such as ELRS Lite Receiver, ELRS Nano Receiver, ELRS Micro Receiver,
@dapper hollow Get one of these and force flash via UART once you are home. The dongle comes with pins that you have to match and press onto the ELRS receiver. You have to get the configurator ready first before you press on.
Don't say I never helped you man
That is the best recovery that you can get and the easiest as it is just prodding the pads itself. If you glued/heat shrinked the RX, you will need to cut it and do it that way.
Or just flash via passthrough...
He had problems with that in the beginning I believe. I came in late to the convo
I would not be surprised if they were not following the directions
I will keep my mouth shut and just nod
Doesn't like reading documentation
I don't think they ever tried it
Im pretty sure I told you there was problems with my usb not carrying data 12 times and you shrugged it off
So I’m going to purchase/try a few more on the radio and see the results
At the moment I want the WiFi working otherwise yes I can try manually fixing it with the adapters but my 140$ radio should be working as per spec otherwise I’m going to get a refund
bruh you are clueless as to what's going on
you just need to flash it using usb
and you can
Ik I think the cable doesn’t work
I’ll flash it or try to again :/
Either flash via USB passthrough on betaflight, or get the UART USB ELRS and use that
Simple
Your radio is not the problem... yet
I keep getting Build Errors and have no idea why. Radiomaster wont help me and I am about ready to just throw $2000 in the trash. My TX16S Bricked about a month ago when i turned it on for the first time in a few months. Ive gotten it finally flashed to 2.9.4 but ELRS wont update to 3.3.2 and now I may have bricked my External BetaFPV 1W Micro Module
No unplug, it said it failed, and now its not leaving the little controller signal startup screen
the module or the tx16s?
the module
the tx16s is ok for now
and the navigation button on the module wont do anything at all
did you follow all this?
including the DIP switches?
this is why I hate BetaFPV
lol
i just realized the dipswitches... if its too late can i go back after switching them to the correct possitions
in what way?
Ok I got that to work for the external module... how do I get the tx16s and the nano rx to the latest firmware
it requires a little bit of first-time setup
as for the nano rx: you plug it into the flight controller and select "betaflight passthrough" in the expresslrs configurator
ill give it a shot, if i have any other issues ill reach back, thank you so much
OMFG my Silicon Ports Driver got deleted and I had to reinstall!
that's a Windows moment
I used to be on Linux for the longest time until it stopped working with Betaflight and COM Ports, I uninstalled because Windows is so damn big and crapped out my laptop, but now I have tiny11 and its proving that windows sucks for me
yeah Betaflight doesn't care much about us
I can usually get it to work though
just running as root
not for mine, it wouldnt allow my drone to auto detect and had to run like 4 lines of code in terminal before betaflight would recognize the connection
obnoxious WebUSB and Chromium garbage frankly
huh
I appreciate the knowledge and assistance
Now to get the BetaFPV 2.4 Nano RX to update is being difficult. its just triple flashing, not going into wifi mode or bind mode?
Do you have Betaflight configured?
you basically need to configure Betaflight to be set up for the receiver and only then can you flash it using passthrough
Ports and receiver tab
Thats how I have had my ports set since first building this quad, i did just notice that ESC is enabled on Sensor Input
Receiver protocol is CRSF with serialrx_inverted = off and serialrx_halfduplex = off.
try putting this in the CLI
serialrx_inverted = off
serialrx_halfduplex = off
save
WARNING: Pre-connection option "no_reset" was selected. Connection may fail if the chip is not in bootloader or flasher stub mode.
unselect that maybe
This happened when i tried flashing again
Lemme try, where did you see the no reset selection
It's in the log you just sent
oh sorry, i keep just seeing the dots at the end, how would I unselect when its not even an option
This was with Auto Lock on First Connection turned off
Could you confirm your wiring?
ooops that was the same file as before
This is with Lock On First Connection disabled
And yes, Uart 1 is VTX, Uart 2 is RX
I know its an ugly build, but its my first one ever
correct
I just found that i pinched my ground wire under my camera brackets... its still intact for the most part, but there are exposed wires i just covered with electrical tape. I dont have access to my soldering iron nor do i have any spare wire leftover to use
Why do you have two wires going to R2
One was the sbus for dji
That should not be connected
Triple flashing means you have a model mismatch. In the ELRS lua, enable model match briefly then turn it off again.
Ive been running it like that since i started and originally was going to get the dji rc controller but just left it and never ran into issues
But if i need to clip it i can, i guess i also dont need the sbus gnd connected either
And now its connected and working after i walked away for 15 minutes
Tested motors, all good... tested radio to drone with props off and all good
Idk what happened and what i did but its working again somehow
A lot of it wouldnt have been without your suggestions
well, go out and have fun!
Im gonna wait for tomorrow to back everything up because ive been doing this for 2 days straight and im exhausted
I cant fly right now either... im just not mentally ready after all this
that really is how it feels sometimes
@nova carbon is this cart?
Cart?
Why you hijacking his thread then?
Glad to know the community doesnt want me as well... later
Didn't say that, just wondering why you didn't make your own thread?
