using True RC antennas on my goggles with the correct connector and using the stock nazgul5v3 antenna. goggles and drone are on the same channel.

#

reposted, uploaded wrong video and discord kept crashing when i tried to post this one

Looks like normal analog flying in a residential area around a brick building

#

You could try moving to channel R8

#

See if that helps

You could also check your antenna orientation

#

antennas radiate best at certain angles, depending on the type and gain ("directional-ness")

its not like i lose range super quick its just not the as good quality as it should be

#

i see what you mean

yeah in that case, as Daedalus said, a large brick building is probably one of the best ways to block an FPV signal, second only to solid earth and maybe faraday cage KEKw

i dont do it in the video but when i fly up more it clears up so im guessing theres some ground effect going on

#

i just wanted to make sure i wasnt just complain about something everone deals with lol

Water is a fantasic RF sponge

water is so efficient at absorbing 2.4GHz that it's the frequency your microwave uses to heat up things (which contain water)

#

the water is extremely efficient at converting the 2.4GHz electromagnetic waves directly into heat

#

so like

but for radio frequency electromagnetic waves

just FYI, "ground effect" is already the name for a physical property of a wing (or prop) causing a bubble of high pressure air over a horizontal surface. Not related to RF.

There is technically some form of ground... related RF effect, I think it's called ground-wave propagation. But that's for muuuch lower frequencies where the wavelength is larger than the distance from the signal to the ground.(I might be wrong on that) Some weird interesting stuff. Anyways, I don't think it happens efficiently at 2.4 or 5.8GHz

When you gain altitude, you genrally decrease the amount of objects between you and the drone, so that could definitely be a factor.

he he ground wave go brrr (and that said, I might be wrong on the ground wave frequency thing?)
