So there’s a short between my GND and V pad on my Caddx Vista. I can’t even see it, but it’s definitely there because it sparks when I plug it in, also I checked with a multimeter. How do I even find out what it is and why it’s happening lol

#

What might solve it is if there’s another place to solder on my + wire

Solution is to just buy a new Caddx?

i would say that the vista is fine as you shorted the power from your fc and since electricity follows the path of least resistance it was flowing through the wires and not the vista assuming it was the pads that were shorted and not a component on the vista. you should still check with a multimeter though before you connect it back up to power to ensure there are no shorts. if the vista is not getting power then you may of blown a diode or fuse, both can be replaced with enough skill time and of course flux.

The short is in between the pads on the Caddx

#

which is confusing

Right it might be smoking from the pad but it can be be something connected to that part

this happened after a crash, for context

was the vista connected directaly to the battery?

#

or was it going through a regulator

You first clean all the solder joints and try them one wire at a time to see if there is a short circuit
