#Box goggle w/ TBS Fusion mod

I use box goggles instead of regular goggles and this has always limited my receiver options. I decided to finally address this issue by modding a set of box goggles to accept fatshark-style receivers. Or more specifically, the TBS Fusion.

A bit of research led me to discover that there's a knockoff version of the popular EV800D goggles, named LS800D. The difference is that the EV800D's have receiver diversity while the LS800D's only have antenna diversity. Since I'm bypassing the built in receiver anyway, the LS800D's were worth the discount.

The goggles normally run on 1S but I wanted to be able to connect any size battery to it. I had a 5V regulator so I just needed a way to power the goggles from that. I did this by exposing the 5V trace from the USB input. I then removed the built-in receiver and soldered video and ground wires on the appropriate pads. After that I used a JST connector for the battery and some female header pins for the receiver module to plug into. I ran a wire from the 5V regulator to the header pins to power the receiver as well.

Finally, I 3D printed a receiver module holder meant for DIY ground stations and glued it to the front of the goggles. I cut a slot for the header pins, glued then in place, and put it all back together again. Now I have something a bit less bulky than before with much better performance.

That's pretty cool

Have you considered the cobra X though? They have a top of the line receiver built in and have a 1280 screen

As well as a bunch of other good additions like the 04x DVR ect
